I don't own twilight. What I own is my character's behavior, personality, background, and plot of my story.

Author's Note at the end

They both run till exhaustion and then throw themselves on the ground. They have been running for 30 minutes. Bella arrived at the park, gave him a side glance, and then started running.

"Give it up Edward," she tells him as she breathes out loudly. At this point, she is tired of him and refuses to give him anything, not even a glance. They have been playing this cat and mouse game for a month and nothing has yet to happen leaving both of them on the edge of their seats, for Bella, because she doesn't know what is happening, and for Edward, because he has yet to make any progress with her.

"I don't know what you are talking about," he tells her after he exhales and raises his hands in a peace sign before they fall back on the ground from exhaustion.

"I will never believe you or give you the comfort of an answer," she tells him after much thought.

He raises an eyebrow at her.

"You are doing your rehabilitation let's be friends show either because you want to inform me of something, or you want to find something from me. I will never believe anything you say," she pauses for a second then looks him in the eye as she says, "and I will never give you the comfort of knowing why I left." She gets up and leaves him behind.

"I am fine," she speaks into her phone as she hears Jacob asking her if she is okay in her earpiece because she would have looked weird had she spoken into her T-shirt. She pockets her phone and then crosses the street. Right as she reaches Jacob's car, her phone rings.

She takes it out of her pocket and answers it as she slides into the passenger seat, "Hello."

She hears some mumbling on the other side and a wooshing sound, so she pulls her phone away from her ear to look at the caller ID and finds Tanya's name.

"Hello?" she speaks telling herself that she will hang up in a minute if she doesn't speak.

"Hi, sorry," Tanya answers sounding breathless as the sound of a slamming door is heard before she says, "sorry Edward was being a pain in the ass. You know how he can be," Tanya tells her.

Bella raises her eyebrows in shock before she catches herself and replies, "No Tanya. I don't," trying to keep the anxiety out of her voice.

"Yeah, you are right. You wouldn't know him that way. That's not what I meant. I meant that you had to deal with his antics as a friend. Of course,", "Tanya, do you need something," Bella cuts off her rumbling.

Frankly, this entire discussion is getting more bizarre by the second and Bella would rather end it as soon as possible. First with the Edward lie and now with you know how he is? This is not how Bella wants to start her morning.

"Oh yeah, I wanted to invite you to dad's Lakehouse for the weekend. My dad, some friends I want to introduce you to, some people in the company, Alice and Jasper, and of course Edward. I think it will be fun and I want you to join us," Tanya pitches to her like a good salesman.

"I am not sure if that will work Tanya. Marco and I can't exactly leave Cece behind, and I am not going to come alone and third wheel everyone else," Bella tells her. She doesn't want to deal with Edward, Tanya, and Eleazar more than she needs to. A weekend with them falls under that category.

"Who said anything about coming alone? Bring both of them with you. The weekend will be kid friendly. We are all too old to pull any shenanigans."

Bella runs her fingers through her hair as she tells her," I don't know Tanya."

"Come on Bella. You know what, talk about this to Marco. Think about it and let me know," Tanya tells her. After Bella tells her she will she hangs up and turns to Jacob.

"That was one of the most bizarre phone calls I have ever had," she tells him.

"What does she want?" he asks her as he buckles her in since she forgot.

"She wants to invite us and Cece to her Eleazar's lake house for the weekend."

"And you didn't tell her yes? Come on Bella. This is perfect. We will never get a chance like that again," he tells her. She knows that. He shouldn't be the one to tell her. People are counting on them and this opportunity provides them with what they need.

Jacob is in his head calculating all of the things he needs to do to prepare for the trip when he realizes something, "Wait a minute that is not bizarre."

"Because that wasn't the bizarre part," Bella answered simply.

"Come on, don't keep me waiting," he pleads.

Bella smiles gleefully and opens her mouth to make him work for it but the look he gives her makes her decide to cut to the chase, "When Tanya first said hello there was a weird sound in the background, and then she told me that Edward was being a pain in her ass. The same Edward that I just left in the park,"

"Scandalous," he exclaims theatrical making her giggle. That is one of the things she loves about him, the fact that his reactions are cunny and show her that he truly listens.

"That was not even the strangest part. She went on to tell me that I know how he is. Which as far as she knows I don't," she continues.

"Could she possibly know about the fact that Edward and you used to date?" Jacob contemplates looking deep in his thoughts.

"No. She would be keeping an eye on both of us and know that we are together, or do something to try to get me to leave," she tells him shaking her head.

"Unless the invitation is part of her plan to get you to leave," Jacob tells her.

"Then maybe we shouldn't attend," Bella tells him looking worried.

"It's in Eleazar's place. She can't do much there. I say we attend but be careful and keep our eyes open. You know we won't get such a chance again."

After a couple of minutes of them in silence Jacob speaks her thoughts, "So now Tanya too is up to something."

"Yep, we have to figure out what this pair of stooges are up to," she replies.

"So does that mean that Tanya is cheating on Edward," Jacob asks her? At first glance, one might think that it doesn't affect him, but since Bella used to date Edward everything Tanya does in her personal life concerns him. He needs to be able to predict what will happen between them and make sure it somehow harms him or Bella.

"Maybe, I don't know," Bella tells him shrugging looking disinterested. She is scrolling aimlessly on her Instagram.

"If you tell him, Please tell him in front of me," Jacob demands looking excited with the idea. After the very little Bella has told him about her relationship with Edward, Jacob is ready to see him in pain and humiliated.

"I won't."

"What do you mean I won't," Jacob demands not sure if she means that she won't let him be there or won't tell him to begin with.

"He is not my problem anymore," she tells him simply.

"That's my girl. High five," he tell her. She high-fives him then he turns on the ignition and they drive away.
