There was one week left until the wedding and as far as Lorelai was concerned everything was planned. Sookie and Emily came up with a menu that included less casual appetizers (sliders, stuffed mushrooms and pigs in a blanket) and a more sophisticated dinner (a five course meal including steak and lobster). Rory and Sookie both found dresses they loved going with Lorelai's colour scheme of royal blue and magenta. They settled on the ceremony and hors d'oeuvres in the town square and the reception and dinner at The Dragonfly. Everyone in town was invited, and somehow Sookie assured her everyone would fit.

Lorelai was so happy that Sookie was busy with her wedding plans because it gave Lorelai a chance to plan a proper surprise (and late) baby shower for Sookie. Lorelai was putting the finishing touches of decorations around Miss Patty's when Rory came in.

"Mom, the place looks great! Did you do this all by yourself?"

Lorelai laughed, "You're funny. Babette, Miss Patty and Gypsy did most of it. Lane is bringing drinks, napkins and some other things from Luke's and Sookie will be here soon with the food."

Rory began to help with the final decorations, "I can't believe you conned Sookie into making the food for her own surprise party."

Lorelai laughed, "She makes fun of almost everyone else's food. We all love her food the best and Sookie deserves the best food at her party. She thinks this is my bridal shower and we'll surprise her when Jackson shows up behind her with the kids."

"Honestly, I'm happy it turned out this way," Rory confessed. "Pregnant women freak me out. I would much rather be able to smile at a little blob in a basket and walk away than have to hug someone and feel her stomach moving around."

Ten minutes later the dance studio was filled with Stars Hollow's women talking, laughing and drinking. Everything came together perfectly and Lorelai was thrilled. "Okay everyone quiet down, Manny just texted me that he and Sookie just left The Dragonfly, they'll be here any minute."

Rory called Jackson from Miss Patty's office to let him know it was time to get the kids ready and joined the crowd to celebrate Sookie.

Sookie walked up to the studio holding a tray of food, when she saw all the baby decorations she was confused.

"Surprise!" Everyone yelled in unison.

"What is going on? This is Lorelai's Bridal Shower," Sookie said matter of factly.

"Actually," Lorelai smiled, "we tricked you and this is actually your baby shower."

"Better late than never," Rory said, grinning as she hugged Sookie and took the tray from her.

Sookie took in the room full of women she loved, the dance studio was decorated with pink baby decorations with one corner dedicated to little boy things. There was a banner in the boy's corner that said "Congratulations Big Brother!" and there were gifts for Davey. It was that which put Sookie over the edge and she began to cry. "You guys are amazing!" She sobbed. Then a lightbulb went off and she began to laugh, "And I made the food! So I know it's going to be terrific!"

The room erupted into laughter and the party began.

Luke took this afternoon to stop in at the Twickham house to check on Tom's work. Luke trusted Tom, but due to the expedited timeline Tom had to hire a bunch of extra people to help out which included TJ and Kirk. THAT made Luke nervous. Tom promised Luke neither of those guys would be left alone and mostly given gopher jobs.

While the house was much larger than they might have needed Luke bought it with the hope that they would never have to move again. This way if they had more than one child together there was still plenty of room. The master bedroom was practically the size of Luke's apartment. The renovation would involve having an entrance directly from the bedroom to one of the bathrooms. There was another bathroom that would be shared, there were three bedrooms at the opposite end of the hall from the master. There was a space between the second floor and the attic that Luke converted into a loft/studio type room for Rory. He installed a small bathroom for her but no kitchen as he wanted to force her to come down and be with them. The main floor would keep an open concept with the kitchen running along the back of the house, a large dining room on one side and the TV room and what would surely turn into the playroom on the other. Finally Luke made sure the main floor included an indoor laundry room, one thing Lorelai did complain about her house in the Winter a lot.

Things were going really well and Tom gave Luke a great report as he handed out lunch to the workers.

"So glad to hear you're going to be able to finish on schedule!" Luke beamed.

"The guys love working for you. You keep bringing us free lunches and are paying extra for the rush job!"

Luke laughed, "I'll keep the burgers coming if these guys keep up their pace."

"Luke! Luke! Guess what?" Kirk yelled.

"What is it, Kirk?"

Kirk ran up to Luke and stopped beside him, he was huffing and trying to catch his breath, "Tom put me in charge of the schedule. I keep checking in with the crew to get updates on their timing."

"Great Kirk," Luke smiled at Tom, "What's the report?"

Kirk flipped through his clipboard, "Well I just help stain your new deck that should be dry tomorrow and that takes care of all the outdoor work! The floors will be done later today and then the painting will begin. We are on schedule to finish the day before your wedding."

"Great news, Kirk! Thanks for keeping on top of everything!"

"It is my greatest honour to be a part of your team Luke," Kirk announced earnestly. "You know I love you and Lorelai more than my own family. But I still want to name the new sandwich at the diner!"

"I know, I know, a deal's a deal. You will name the new special and it will be up for three months."

"Cool!" Kirk jumped and took off to go talk to more of the construction crew.

"You know he's going to call it 'The Kirk', right?" Tom asked in a deadpan tone.

"Yeah, I know. And it's going to be something disgusting."

The party went on for hours, games were played, stories were told (when the mothers shared their stories of giving birth Rory snuck out to call Logan), gifts were opened and there were many "awww" moments. Sookie had a wonderful time and Davey felt like a king with all the presents and attention he got. Jackson thanked Lorelai for a chance to nap.

When Lorelai walked into her quiet house she sighed. She wanted to call Luke and plan their dinner but nature called.

Luke's phone rang while he was in the car.

"Hello?"

"Luke!" Lorelai sounded scared and serious.

"What's wrong?"

"I'm bleeding. I need to go to the hospital. I might be losing -"

"Where are you?" Luke practically shouted to cut off her thought.

"Home," she sobbed.

"I'm almost there!"
