Lorelai was sitting in the Emergency Room, She could hear people talking, machines beeping, keyboards typing and someone coughing up a lung. She couldn't focus on anything for more than three seconds. She could hear Luke talking to her but didn't respond because no words were actually registering with her.

Thankfully they didn't have to wait long and suddenly Lorelai was in an exam room wearing a paper dress. She was answering questions without really thinking about it.

"No, I haven't lifted anything heavy."

"Ms Gilmore, we're going to do an internal ultrasound. It can be a little uncomfortable but it will give us the best imaging. Would you like your husband to step out?"

"No, he can stay."

Luke moved towards Loreali's head and took her hand as the technician did her work.

"If we lose the baby you don't have to marry me," Lorelai whispered.

Luke kissed Lorelai's forehead, "You know I wanted to marry you before I knew about the baby. And please, we have to think positively."

Rory rushed into the house and began to tidy the TV room. Most of their stuff was already packed up and ready to move to the new place, so she found a few pillows and blankets and set up the couch. Then she found a box with some of Lorelai's favourite movies and left a few out on the coffee table. She grabbed the phone to order some Chinese food but the doorbell rang distracting her. She opened the door and was shocked to see her grandparents, well she saw her grandmother and who she assumed was her grandfather hidden by the giant box of food in his arms.

"Grandma, Grandpa, what are you doing here?"

"Well when you called to let us know that your mother had to go to the hospital we had to do something to help," Emily announced as she made her way into the house.

"And when your Grandmother doesn't know how to help, she feeds people," Richard explained following Emily into the kitchen.

"Lorelai is in the middle of moving, planning a wedding and the party for Sookie. She's had even less time to focus on proper eating. And I know Luke has been busy with his regular job and the renovation of the new house. He's her only source of proper food, besides our Friday night dinners." Emily began to empty the box as she continued. "Have you heard from them since you spoke to us?"

Rory shook her head, "Luke called when they got to the hospital. He asked me to let you know but doesn't want anyone else to know. That's all I heard."

Richard sighed and sat at the kitchen table.

Rory touched his shoulder, "Do you want some coffee?"

"Yes, that would be good. I think we'll be up late tonight," Richard smiled.

As Rory began to fill the coffee pot with water her cell phone rang. All three of them jumped and looked at the phone with panic in their eyes. Rory grabbed it, "Hello?"

"Hey kid," Lorelai said in a weak but upbeat voice.

"Mom! How are you?"

"I'm okay, the baby is okay. The doctor said it is normal to have some bleeding. The baby is healthy, we got to hear the heartbeat and everything."

"That's great, you and the baby are fine," Rory saw Emily and Richard let out a huge sigh of relief. "Well I'm at your house with Grandma and Grandpa, I've set up the couch and TV for you and they brought a ton of food."

"Well that's good cause here's the bad news. I have to be on bedrest for at least three days. I'm not sure if I am going to be able to attend my wedding."

"Oh Mom, don't worry. We'll figure something out. The baby's health is the most important. Between Sookie, Grandma and me, we will work this all out."

"Don't tell anyone about this until tomorrow. I need to get home, rest and wrap my brain around all of this. We'll be home in about ten minutes."

A little while later Rory had helped Lorelai change into her sweats and got her settled on the couch. Emily fixed her a plate of various foods and the two women were doting over her.

Richard and Luke stayed in the kitchen and talked over some beers.

"So everything is okay?" Richard asked.

"Seems to be," Luke nodded. "There was nothing wrong detected when they did the two ultrasounds, and her bloodwork was clear, so they suggested the bedrest as a precaution."

"Scary stuff," Richard shook his head.

Luke scoffed. "I thought I knew fear. But this was on another level. Not only was I worried about Lorelai but,"

"It made you realize how much you love the baby you haven't met," Richard offered.

Luke's eyes widened, "Yeah, exactly."

Richard smiled, "Luke, I'm sorry for any grief Emily and I caused. We had this idea of the life we wanted for Lorelai and didn't see you as providing what we thought she deserved."

"Sir,"

"No, let me finish," Richard insisted. "But when you truly love someone all you really want is for them to find someone who will love them and care for them. I know my daughter and my grandchildren are in good hands with you."

"Thank you Sir."

"But if you ever hurt her I will have to kill you."

"Understood," Luke laughed.

"I swear, I'm full," Lorelai promised Emily and Rory. "I think I want to just go up to bed."

"Yes," Emily smiled, "You had a long day. We'll go to the other room so you can sleep."

Lorelai began to stand up, "No I'm going to my room."

"LORELAI, I know you never want to listen to me, but your doctor put you on bedrest!" Emily shrieked, causing Luke and Richard to hurry into the TV room.

"Mom, it wasn't MY doctor. Plus they couldn't even tell us that something was wrong. Now I'm going to stay off my feet as much as possible for the next three days like he suggested, but I am going up to MY bed."

"Richard, do something!"

Richard looked helpless and Luke intervened. He slowly walked over to Lorelai, kissed her softly and then swept her up into his arms. "There, now we all can be happy," he smiled. "Lorelai gets to go to her own bed, she's staying off his feet and I get to practice carrying my bride over the threshold."

Rory rushed ahead of Luke to switch on the lights and pull the comforter down.

"What did you do?" Lorelai smiled.

"Well I researched bleeding during pregnancy and read that you might be on bedrest, so I brought you this small TV from my dorm, and filled your nightstand with some of your favourite snacks. I even got earplugs for Luke in case you are watching TV too late."

"Thanks, Kid," Luke smiled. "It's getting late. I'm going to take your parents over to our house and set them up in the guest room."

"The house is ready?" Lorelai smiled.

"Not entirely. But enough of it is that they can stay there for the night instead of driving all the way back to Hartford tonight."

"Thanks hon, you're going to come back, right?"

"Try to stop me," Luke winked and kissed her goodbye.

Luke left Lorelai and Rory sitting on the couch to watch a movie. The girls snuggled, ate snacks and laughed until Lorelai fell asleep and Rory slipped out of the room. She sat on the couch and let all the stress of the last few weeks rush over her. She was about to cry when her phone rang.

"Hello?"

"Ace, how's your Mom?"

Rory smiled, "She's good, she's finally asleep. The baby is okay."

"Do you want me to come over?"

"Yes, but don't. My Grandparents are staying in Stars Hollow tonight. The last thing I need is them finding out you and I spend the night together. Plus I don't think my Mom & Luke would appreciate it."

"Fair enough. I'll come there tomorrow and have breakfast with you all. I know your Mom is not my biggest fan, I need to start winning her over."

Rory laughed, "You better bring all of that Huntzburger charm!"

"Oh I think I can manage that!"
"We'll see"
