Chapter Fifty-nine: Shibuya?
Naru Pov
I watch as Mai slept on our bed, taking a long nap as I continue to read the diary of John.
I lowered the book on my lap as I turned to face my wife, taking notice that her small hand is on her stomach. I thin out my lips and took a deep breath not sure how to progress this.
To be honest, we have no clue what to do, I'm so worried about her, and how are we going to handle when her water breaks? I had never even seen a birth since I hadn't had to deal with it. All I know is to take the woman that is giving birth to a hospital.
I rolled my stiff shoulders and place the book on the side. With that, I stood up and began to shuffle with my hands behind my back.
Okay, Noll, you got seven months to figure this outright? I mean it shouldn't be that hard?
As I pounder on the scenario in my head, nothing comes into my mind as I heard Mai moan. I turned to see her switching her body towards the wall. I bend on my knees and lay next to her. Then I wrap my arm around her small waist and pull her into my embrace.
"Naru!" Mai whispers half asleep. I lowered my head and snuggled on the back of her head.
"Hmm?"
"Later, can we see the sunset? It's been so long since we have seen it," she asks me. I closed my eyes and nodded at her.
"As you wish," I simply said to her. Mai smiles, snuggling closer to me without moving much.
"Mai,"
"Hmm?"
"I was thinking about your childbirth, you know it will be painful and I have no clue how to assist to it. I never was educated on it, all I know is it's very painful and a bit messy as well life and death." I said worriedly. Mai grabs my hand and rose it up to her chest and kisses it.
"I know, but I trust in you my love," it's all she said as she went back to deep sleep. I frowned, holding her closer to me.
"I wish you didn't, I'm scared to even think of it." I frowned as I felt a bit emotional.
I need to be stronger for you.
"I know you can Naru because I'm counting on you," Mai mumbles as I kiss the back of her head.
...
O..0
A day has gone, and it's raining like crazy outside.
"Come on, rain, go away, I wanted to see the sunset since we missed it last night from sleeping until the next day." Mai groans, looking out the window, watching the rain hit hard. I place my arms on top of the flat of the windowpane and breathed out. Then a thunderous roar the sky, making Mai shriek. I turned, to find her behind me, shaking.
"I thought you overcame the thunder?" I asked, feeling her small hand fisting on my shirt.
"I did when you asked me to marry you last year. This time it's because my hormones are to jumble up, it came back, or something like that." She spoke.
"Want me to tell you a story?" I suddenly ask her. Mai nods, but jumps, wrapping her arms around my waist, burying her face on my back, when another thunder hits the skies.
"Naru... Remember when we were stranded here, in the first weeks." She began while I move away from the window, as we walk like a penguin since Mai couldn't let go of me.
"How can I not remember? We were being haunted by the ghosts, and Ayame was a big help. Why?" I asked her, as we kept going up.
"Remember, when you ask me about love?" I paused in my tracks, lifting my gaze, trying to recall that memory.
Did I ask about that? Oh right, I did, I was curious about her response, I was trying to figure out my feelings for her at that time.
"Yes."
"Can you ask me again?" she suddenly asks. I move my hands, to hold the railing, while Mai tightens her grip around me, feeling her heart quiver with fear.
"Seriously? I have a good idea of how your love is and..."
"Naru, humor me please." she squints her eyes, giving me a pleading look as I slump my shoulders.
"What is love for you?" I gave in. She lays her cheek on my back.
"Love means different for many people, different types. I finally got to confess my love for that guy I told you about many years ago."
"You did? Is he treating you okay?" I play along.
"Yes. At times, he is so quiet, it drives me nuts, but he has changed a lot. You know, I married him. A strange little story." She kisses my back, as she moves away from me, when we reach the second floor, another thunder roar, and she shivers but shakes her head.
"You know, this guy.." she sat on our bed and slides to the edge of the bed, and pats the empty spot for me to join her.
"Hmm?" I asked her as I open the vail to look at her.
"He is different from what I told you. Sometimes looks can be deceiving. He makes me happy, and mad, and irritated as well, makes my heart race a lot."
"Does he now? Does he give you butterflies?
"Lots, especially when he kisses me or touches me, or does something so sweet. I still feel like a teenager falling in love all over again. His name is Oliver, but in Japan, he is named Shibuya-kun. He has a twin. A lovely twin brother, that I love dearly. Shibuya-kun made me a small family. As well, you know.." she smiles, wrapping her arms around her stomach.
"What?" I leaned against the wall, watching her.
"He gave me a child. I have a piece of him in me. I know, that children are borrowed, but I know, that I will love her or him, with my whole being. I can feel it. I already love the baby. Each day, I can feel it grow in me. I know." she stops mid-sentence and turns to look at me.
"What?"
"I know, he is secretly scared, secretly watching me, and watching our baby. I may not be bright, nor well educated like him, but... I want to give our baby lots of love. I am so scared to death if I don't get it right. I know Oliver feels the same. We treat each day special overcoming hardship and the constant morning sickness. It breaks my heart to see him going through it." She frowns.
"Well, he tries," I told her.
"I know. I know, I'm so grateful to him. I don't know how to repay him. No one can know this deep feeling I have, that we both have, unless they are stuck on an island as long as we did, and overcome it. Our relationship didn't start well, and I would get so shy around him. I still do. Eight years later here we stand. Now, we are going to have a baby. He gave me so much, a family. A family that I never thought of. If we were still in Japan, I doubt our feelings would end up like this. My love has grown in a way of no return. I know, it sounds silly. If I told this to anyone, they probably say, my world revolves too much around him, that I need to separate from him, and make my own life. Or something in those lines." She paused, looking up at me.
"True," I told her... She revolves too much around me.
"I know. It's not healthy. I should do my own. I can't. I just can't. We have been through so much. We share one bond, that no one can break, besides God himself. I... I don't want to depend on him too much. I don't want to be a burden."
"You're not."
"I feel like it at times."
"Trust me, if you were, he would have told you. Sure, you're a handful, but not a burden." I assure her. Mai's eyes gloss over with unshed tears looking at me as I sat on the edge of the bed.
"Doesn't matter."
"It does. I think everyone has a place. If you're meant to revolve around him you wouldn't even meet him in the first place but is your destiny. After all, he's your protector, you are his master to the point that you two now share one heartbeat. It's his job, but in doing so, you fell in love with him. Nothing strange. People fall in love all the time."
Mai sniffs, looking at me eye to eye.
"What about you? The girl you admire?" she asks. I sigh out, looking at the ceiling.
"Love for me, it's a strange emotion." I began, while Mai moves, to get on top of my lap. I stare at her, moving, to brush her short hair.
"Is that so?"
"Yes, every day it's something new. Different emotions, and how to survive, as well to deal with her, which feel fresh to me, not sure why though."
"Do you love her?" I can't believe she just ask me.
"No." I simply told her. Mai gasps, as I lower my gaze at her. Pain shot through her eyes.
"You don't?"
"Nope... I don't." I frowned, taking hold of her cheeks causing her to puff out like a puffer fish as a tear escape her.
"I'm not the type to say my emotions, you know that. That woman is my life. You aren't the only one that feels like your life revolves around him. I do too. My feelings for her are beyond love." Her eyes widen.
"What do you mean?" I smirked, running my thumb across her cheeks.
"I mean, that I can't live without her. If she isn't with me, I can't function. She is always in my mind, in my heart. I never thought this emotion call love would be that powerful. Once I didn't believe in it, nor did, I thought pure love existed."
"Naru.." she breathes out.
"She as well is having my baby. I don't know how to thank her. She's carrying another life, that it is a miracle within itself. God bless me too much, after all the crap we went through. I admire her, treasure her, I don't love her because it goes beyond love. If she sees, what I see, she'll understand. She is my first in everything in this journey of love. I won't change it for the world. Everything has its place." I told her with pure honestly as she squints her eyes, crying hard.
"So you love her that much?"
"No... I can't offer her the stars, nor the moon, like most man claims. I can only offer her my heart and clearly, my heart belongs to her forever. The day we met, as children are the moment she stole my heart. There's no measure of this love you say. Cause I can't tell you how much, since it feels like it's going to explode at any moment." I told her the truth.
Mai wraps her arms around me again.
"She's a lucky woman then." I can feel Mai's heart race matching my own heartbeat.
"He's a lucky man," I told her. Holding her tighter. She moves, and cups my cheeks, and places her lips on my lips, kissing me softly. I move my hand and cup her cheek, to deepen the kiss. This kiss is soft and sweet. All I can do is show her, the way she should be kissed. A true love kiss which made my insides tingle strangely, feeling our hearts racing in a particular way feeling her love for her, and I'm sure she can feel mines.
Letting go, we breathe hard and place her forehead against mine.
"Wow.." she smiles with a blush.
"Wow..." I breathed out repeating it.
Mai suddenly giggles as she wipes her eyes to look at me.
"Thank you, Naru. Thank you for being honest. I can tell you, that girl is happy and full of joy, as well fill with love for you. Now, what about that story?" I playfully pinch her nose with my fingers causing her to scrunch at me as I wrap my arms around me.
"Once upon a time, in a faraway island, lived a young man, that had many siblings." I began capturing her attention as she places my hand on her stomach and looks down.
My heart warms up t her next words.
"Listen well little one. Your papa is telling us a story."
Well, this is the first time telling a story to our child. Who would have thought, Oliver Davis would be telling stories to his wife and child. This is so strange.

"Mai!" I heard my name, a familiar voice echoed behind me. I turned to see Gene standing in front of the ocean shore.
My heart pounded with happiness to see him once again, it's been half a year since I last saw him. I rushed to his side, but stop when I saw a very serious face indicating something is wrong. My heart drops to my stomach as I simply said.
"Gene! I was so worried, I..." but he moves his hand up, to stop me from talking.
"There's something you need to solve. You need to help Snow White, and stop the creatures." I arched a brow confused with Gene's words.
"Again with Snow White? I thought we figure that out I mean..." but Gene shook his head, as the background of the ocean began to disappear.
"I'm sorry Mai, but now you have to experience this along with Noll, don't worry it won't harm your child, that I assure you."
"What? experience what? Wait, Gene..." but Gene shook his head.
"It will make sense soon." and with that, everything went dark on me, and only heard a strange accent voice, not sure where to place it, but it sounded like the pirate from my dreams.
"You can use me any way love, as your wish is my command and after, he will be dead..." and then a burst of a hardy laughter echoes around.

"Bloody woman." I heard a heavy Japanese accent, while I leaned against the pole feeling oddly bored with the situation itself as I stare at the twilight horizon.
"Let her be, now, is Ester ready to enter the Black Lagoon?" I asked my mate, turning to face him. His dirty brown hair move against the wind, while his dark wrinkle eyes scan mine, as he wore dirty old clothes and lets toothy laughter, showing me his rotten teeth.
"Aye, Capt... What I don't get, is why that wench wants to come, to this bloody blasted curse island?" Daniel asks crossing his arms. I shrug, turning my gaze back at the island itself which is so vast and so mystical look. Something on the island seems strange to me which didn't shiver my insides too well, as it has dark rumors that have been pass down for centuries.
"Oi, you know, that we are lucky bastards, to find this island, you know that the island only appears every ten..." But he paused, as a soft female voice echoed behind us.
"Shibuya-kun, dear.." I heard behind me. I turned my gaze to my right, to see Ester holding onto her overly expose brown hat, as she wore her green Victorian dress which clenched into her body rather nicely.
I arched a brow as I cross my arms in front of my torso.
"Yes?" Ester walks past Daniel, catching the disgusted face in her face. I rolled my eyes at her as she came up to me, and takes a hold of the hems of my black shirt
"My dear Captain, I am truly flattered, that you are a willing soul to set sail for old little me." she flirted. I frowned, turning my gaze at the island.
"Well, I'm flattered by your loot Ma'am, as you can see it talks louder than fear."
"That's why they call you most feared pirate since you have no fear, at a young age, of thirty.." she smirks, moving closer to me.
"At least you got the memo, or not I would have been called, Captain shaky boots, wouldn't I?" I sarcastically told her. She just giggles at my lame joke.
I felt very uncomfortable with this woman. Always have, since she came to me at the pub months ago interrupting my whiskey time to give me a proposal.
Damn woman, but for a reason, I couldn't deny her request, not sure why though. I heard of this island and its dark past. I wonder, why has my blood pulled me up to this island?
"A man with few words, but funny, just what I like." I heard her say. I turned to head out.
"Well I am to please, ain't I doll?" I simply dryly remarked as I turned to give my orders to my crew.
"Get everything prepared! We are settling." With that command, I headed for my cabinet, for a reason my heartfelt unease.
"Why?" I frowned, looking down at my hands.
Maybe I will find the answer on that island, oh I hope so, if not, someone will have to walk the damn plank, and a pretty black-haired wench is on the menu.
...
...
...
Upon reaching land with our small boats, Daniel helps me pull the small boat towards land since we were close to land, so it was safe to walk in the waters. (I left my crew behind, just in case, only a few chose to come with me.)
Making sure the boat was secure and tied down around a close palm tree, I turned to face Ester which waited for me. I extend my arm and she slips her delicate hand on mine, as her dark brown eyes look straight at me.
"Why thank you," she said as I help her get out, and made sure she lands on the sand without getting her bottom dress wet, I couldn't help but to get close to her, our faces inches away, as I somewhat sized her up with my eyes, causing her face to blush. I couldn't help but smirk at her response.
Hard to resist huh? I ain't that interested in you.
"No problems Madam, would be hard to swim back trying to recuperate your body, would it?" I said in a mocking matter causing her eyes to narrow and pushes me away from her.
"Scroudral man you are, how dare you insult me," she said as I shrug at her as I bend down and untied my boots to remove the access water while balancing with my other foot.
"Forgot I'm a pirate dear? We do have a code to go through, and I didn't promise luxury did I?" I place my boot back as she huffs at me as I took out the other boot and did the same.
As she goes on her merry way (By that I mean furiously stomping away) I finished getting rid of the water inside my boots.
I look up and my eyes soaked up the beauty of the island itself.
Looking up at the blue sky, I suddenly felt like time just suddenly stop.
So the rumors are true? Ten, only ten?
I rubbed my chin, feeling satisfied by this.
I turned toward the trees in the far distance only to feel a heavy pulse going through my body.
"I always wonder, throughout the six months of sailing, why haven't you asked me, why did I want you to take me here?" Ester suddenly asks as she came back to me and crosses her arms under her breasts.
"Not my business." That was all I said, adjusting my waist belt, to make sure that I have my sword in place. Ester giggles.
This lady's mood swings are something.
"Now my beloved pirate, I need to meet up with someone important. So can you please take me there safely? I'll show you the way." she asks. I turned, starting to walk ahead.
So you've been here before huh?
Without too many words, Ester stood beside me as Daniel stood next to me, whispering nonsense, as he normally does. We avoided the wild animals, in the way.
I am a lone wolf, so far, as my thirty years of life. I don't know who is my family since they left me in an old alleyway to rot.
Luckily Daniel found me and raise me. He taught me all it is, to be a pirate.
I do anything on the job, even killing if it is necessary. I'm a tainted man, with no hope. I hate commitments… So I try to stay away from women most of the time.
My fail attempts as I try to bed them, even with the woman in the bars, I just couldn't even come close to kiss them. I don't know why, as something or someone stops me. I hate it as at this point, I'm getting older and can't even get a kiss across.
I have this feeling that I'm waiting for someone, but who? It just peeves me to not know, but I learned to live with it.
Ester is a cunning woman, gets what she wants. She had lost two husbands already, and has no child, but is one of the wealthiest women alive, due to her husband's wealth.
Daniel is like a father to me, but sometimes, his mind drifts, do too much drinking, and womanizing, as well his pirates years. Nevertheless, he's the closest to having a family I guess.
A few hours later, as dusk settles in, Daniel and I prepare a fire, and a place for Ester to sleep (Which is near the fire,) and I sat on the ground, leaning against the tree, cross arms as my hat covers my eyes.
"Shibuya-Kun, can you please, keep me company?" Ester asks, feeling her come near me. Without a look, I just say.
"There's the fire, and there's the blanket Daniel place. I'll keep watch." I could hear her grunt but turns grasping my shoulder. I glance up, to see an angry face in her.
"Why? Why do you keep rejecting me? Don't you see? I have fallen in love with you..." I could have laughed at her confession. All I can see is lust in her eyes. With the coldest stare, I could muster, I simply told her.
"You love me? Sure you do, a pirate like me? Just go back." I simply rejected her.
"I swear, you'll pay.." was all she said, grunted, she stomps back, heading back to her bed. With that said, I stood, turning my gaze towards Daniel, watching him carve some wood as he sat in front of the fire.
So I stood, and went up to him, placing my hand on his shoulder causing him to life his gaze at me.
"Look after her." I simply told him. He turns his gaze back at Ester which she is laying down, facing her back at us.
"If I remember, also, here, take this with you." Daniel lifts his hand and hands me his knife.
"Take this knife, you never know."
"Thanks," I simply said as he nods and turns his gaze back to the fire. I closed the knife and place it behind my pant pocket.
Leaving the campsite, I turned toward my right, heading for the stream of water.
Does anyone live here? We haven't seen any living soul on this island, maybe they live deeper into the island?
After some time, I finally reach the stream, hearing it rush, as the night sky gave me enough light to look around at how beautiful it looks.
Bending down, I took a sip, and wash my face. A sudden eerie feeling passes down my spine, making me shiver.
I lift my gaze and look around to find nothing. I frowned as I look at my stream once again, only to hear something that caught me off guard. turning my gaze a sudden smirk pass through my lips.
Well, things got interesting.
I slowly stood up as the large horse stood there inflamed with fire and a shadowy ride man sits on top of him, and I can feel his gaze on me.
I cracked my neck as though something in me felt familiar by this, but I didn't feel afraid.
"I should be careful, what I say... Normally it comes back to haunt me," I mumbled to myself.
"Well, I'll be damn, well it isn't good old Sasuke," the shadow man said causing me to raise a brow.
Sasuke?
"I'm flatter, why do I look like him, to confuse me? Or is you goo'd old eyes don't see right? I ain't no this Sasu'ke guy." I spoke to him.
The ghostly rider arched his horse up, making an eerie sound.
"Sharp tongue, as always Sasuke. No matter how many times you are reborn, still the same as always, but not the soul I want, not yet."
"Oh, don't come and hurt my feelings now. I have been told, I have a face of a killer." I teased him. The horseman suddenly makes a circle around the ground.
"Name is Alack, I need you to remember that. Now. I am not the one you should worry about." I arched a brow.
"Oh?"
"Have fun, Shibuya when we meet again, I can assure you, it will be a head full of hell…" and with that, he disappears.
What just happened? How did he knew my name? What does he mean by that?
I frowned, as another sensation passes through me. A deeper, darker sensation.
Strange shadows started to surround me. I drew out my sword from my seeth that is placed against my right hip, feeling a little bored again.
"If you're going to do something, then do it.." I nonchalantly stated as I turned around, to block the attack, hearing our swords collide with a loud clink.
Well, this is fun now.
I could see a strange person's face covered with a black cloak. I can feel his eyes death glaring at me, with his breath hitching.
"Geez mate, I ain't bored! Thanks," I smirked, as he swung his body using his leg, to kick me on my stomach, pushing me away, I slid back taking a hold of my stomach as I look up, breathing hard.
The shadows went still, but for a reason, a dark aura surrounds us.
I began to run towards my new mate, ignoring the shadows, and our swords colliding, hearing the heavy metals, against metal and it excited me. We continue to fight, without stopping. A couple of times he smacks me, and cut my shirt, but for a reason, I couldn't get him.
"I have... To say, you're good." I told him between breaths. The strange small man, spat, as he ran up to me, but I manage to trick him, by using my legs, I trip him forward and made him fall flat on his back. I go on top of him, pinning his arms above his head.
The person began to move against my strain as I suddenly let out a hardy laugh.
"Now, too bad your not a woman... I would rather do other pleasurable things to you, if she was in this position, flat on her back, under me, and with fewer clothes. Skin to skin, shame, you're a guy.." I mocked, giving him a sly smirk. The man grunts in frustration. I move my hand, in doing so, the young man moves his free hand, but couldn't do anything.
"Before I kill you. I need to see my attacker's face.." The small man started to struggle, even more, moving his legs behind me, as I move my hand to remove his cloak. With the light of the moon, I got a good view of my attacker.
My eyes widen and my breath caught.
I knew it, but well damn.
"Well, I'll be damn… They do say, be careful what you wish for." I smeared, as the young woman's eyes death glare at me.
"You're right, be careful, what you wish for.." she smirks, as my eyes widen, as a sudden deep pain shot through me, feeling a knife go through my stomach.
"Because you never know. What painful things a woman can do to a man in this position."

"I think they won't come back, it's been two days," I said as I rub my arms looking out at the horizon of the ocean, trying to see if I can spot our ship. Naru which stood next to me doesn't say anything.
I can't believe this is happening to us, why are we stuck here? I mean this island gives me the creeps as it is.
"Mai," I heard Naru call out causing me to look up at him as he is looking down at me. I don't know why, but something in his eyes made my heart jump.
"Y... yes?" I nervously asked him. Naru turns his gaze back at the ocean and points with his head.
"Look," he simply said to me. I follow his gaze and my eyes widen to see the sun setting, casting a beautiful orange light in the sky. I gasp covering my mouth.
"That's beautiful," I said as Naru nods in agreement.
"I forgot how to take a step back and enjoy nature," Naru mumbles at himself as I look down aching to grab his hand, but hesitated to do so.
I want to hold your hand Naru, but I can't because you don't feel the same way as me.
Hurt at the thought, I shook my thoughts away and kept looking at the sun setting, not seeing that Naru glance down at my hand, and hesitated to take my hand as well.
"Mai," He calls out again as I turn to look at him.
"Yes?"
"While we are here, let's continue to see the sunset," he said to me. I arched a brow.
"Really?" He nods at me as he turns his gaze back to the sunset.
"Why?" I question him once again as he shrugs.
"Because I have to remind myself that work is not everything in this world and I'm sure Gene would like it if I did this." he openly said causing my heart to warm.
Without thinking I took his hand and held it gently causing him to look down at me a bit startled.
I gave him a soft smile and nodded at him.
"Yes, let's do that until we get rescued, let's see the sunset, and let's try to see the sunrise together. You are right, work isn't everything in this world, just part of life and I'm sure Gene would be so happy to hear that from you. Thank you Naru," I told him honestly.
"For?" Naru asks as his cheeks turn a light red but look away.
"For being slightly open with me. You have no idea how much that means to me." I told him as I turn to look at the now sun almost disappearing on the horizon. Naru turns to look at me one last time and gave me a soft look as he takes notice that I haven't let go of his hand.
He doesn't say anything but continues to let me hold his hand and for some odd reason, we felt a sort of peace.
Thanks for the reviews.
I forgot about the Pirate scenes, this should be fun.
I'll probably keep it the same but change some things.
