Chapter Sixty-five: Thank You
Mai Pov
I knew something was wrong with Naru, I can't point my finger on it, but knowing him, he won't tell me until the time is right, that's what I have come to learn over the years, but what I told him is the truth, I will always trust him.
Just like in our date we had when we were just holding each other inside of the beautiful cave of diamonds.
"Mai, I have something to ask from you." He suddenly said as he held me in his arms as he retreats from kissing me. I licked my lips and opened my eyes to look at him.
"Yes?" I ask.
"When we go to the other side of the Black Lagoon." He paused, breathing out as his eyes search mine, I can feel his heart in panic as though he's trying to find the words. I move my hand and began to rub his arm.
"Yes? What about it?"
"You have to promise me something." Okay, not liking where this is going that my body tensed.
"What are you going to tell me is going to ruin our date?" I question him. He thins out his lips, as I felt him make circles on my waist, in a way it began to relax.
"Promise me, Mai..."
"No, tell me first what is it?"
"Promise me, when we go to that place, you will leave, when I tell you to... Do not turn back after you flee don't worry about me." My heart beats unevenly at his sudden words.
"Why? Naru, what was the deal you made with Isac?" Now my hands tremble from pure worry as he shook his head.
"Don't worry about the deal. Just do it, protect yourself and our baby. That's all you have to do. I don't want to lose you both." He whispers.
Wait, is this about... My eyes widen from the sudden realization.
"Naru?" I move away to stare at his blue eyes. He nods, confirming my thoughts.
"What you're thinking of, is right Mai. That's why I need you to run when it gets to be too much.." I shook my head, taking his hand and place it in my stomach so he can feel our baby.
"No, I'm your guardian as well and I can protect you and the baby. Please believe in me. I can't believe it... Oh My.." I lower my head.
"I know.." Naru agrees.
"So, that means... Shibuya. Oh, that's why you said that earlier." Naru slightly nods as he drops to his knees.
"Yes... He did."
"Oh no, please, then, we need.." I paused, as Naru took a breath, looking at the water as his eyes seem too far off, thinking about something.
"Yes... He did, now I have to deal with it..." I get on my knees, and wrap my arms around him, holding him tight.
"Just great, like we need more problems... Now we have to.." I stopped because a lump formed in my throat as Naru turns his head, and nods at me.
"We have to retrieve Alack, head from the waters and the creatures will stop up and the worst part is it can be any day."
Naru Pov
It's been a month now since we had our date since then Mai has been very rigid, which I knew would happen if I told her, but it would have been worse if I didn't warn her.
I stretched my body after I opened my eyes from the nice nap I took with Mai. (She's been sleeping a lot than normal. I'm still worried about her health after all that we went through is not easy to manage. I get nightmares from time to time.)
Rubbing my eyes, I raise myself to see Mai sleeping facing me, with her hand wrap around her slightly bigger stomach. Even though we still are nauseous, is not as bad as it was two months ago. I leaned down and kiss her lips and then down to kiss her stomach.
Then I lift myself to look at her as my heart warms up. I move my hand and began to brush her hair behind her ear.
"Little worm, get up," I murmured, shaking her shoulder gently. Mai protest, pressing her head against the pillow.
"Five more." She groans under her breath.
"We need to stretch, we can't keep sleeping," I told her, causing her to groan again, but then takes a jolted breath slowly opening her right eye to look at me.
"I'm sleepy," she said to me, taking notice she has bags under her eyes. I frowned but shook my head at her.
"I know you are, but you can't continue to sleep all day, you need exercise to keep in shape and build up muscles. You need to be healthy for yourself, for me, and our little one." I told her honestly, while helping her sit up. Mai wrap a hand around her stomach and gave me a slanted smile.
"Mai, please!" I rubbed her back as she turns to look back at me.
"Alright," she said to me as she rose her hand and rubs her eyes. I kiss the side of her head and gently help her get up from our bed.
"You're so mean..." she protests placing her forehead against my shoulder. I chuckle at her childlike attitude.
"You sleep too much as it is," I told her as she rubs her forehead against me, and lift her gaze to blink and pout.
"Not my fault, this pregnancy has me so tired, I'm not sure if it's normal though," she said to me. I wrap my arm around her waist and began to walk her towards the stairs.
Mai suddenly stops, as she glances down at her stomach.
"Mai?"
"I was thinking,"
"About?" we began to walk down the stairs.
"The gender of the baby, what do you think we will have?" she asks me. I thin out my lips.
"A boy, and you?" I asked her as we reach downstairs.
"A boy, hmm, I think we'll have a girl," she said to me, taking me a bit aback since I would have sworn she would be wanting a girl.
"Do you feel it?" I asked her as she shrugs at me as we made it outside, this time Mai grabs my hand (with her good hand) and intertwines our fingers.
"Yes, but at the same time I feel like it's a boy, so I'm a bit confused. Do you want to have a boy?" She asks me. I shrug at her as we headed for our bathing post.
"I wasn't thinking of being a parent in the past, so I never thought of it too much, but to be honest, I would like to have a girl," I told her the truth.
"Oh? Why?" She looks excited by this as I rub my thumb across her thumb.
"Just want a girl," (And she would be as cute as her mother,)
"Well, I want a boy," she throws me off.
"Really?" I arched a brow as she nods at me, as she rubs her stomach as we reach our bathing post.
"Yes, he'll be as adorable as you, with blue eyes and black eyes. He'll be your mini-you, and whatever the gender, I already am, so deeply in love with him/her, it's so strange falling in love with someone I haven't met yet, but knowing that it comes from the love of my life, makes it even more special " she said looking so happy about this. I mentally chuckle as we both were thinking the same.
"Yes, it's a strange new emotion, it's scary and exciting, isn't it? Who would have thought after twelve years later, after meeting, we would be parents for the first time." I admit as I rub the back of my neck. Mai moves closer to me and began to caress my cheek using the back of her knuckles.
"I can feel it Naru, I can feel your love for our little one even though you don't say it," she admits to me as she presses her ear on my chest to hear my heart, which began to race. I wrap my arm around her small shoulders and kiss the top of her head.
"Good, I'm not good with words," I told her as she wraps her arms around my waist and held me tightly.
"I know, and every day I fall deeper and deeper in love with you. I can't live without you or can't stop telling you, I'm so blessed to have you love me back the way you do."
My heart racing like crazy causing Mai to smile even more, as I held her tighter.

"A little lower please," Mai orders as I rubbed the lower half of her back to relieve some stress after we finished our light exercise. She sat in front of me, while we face the ocean at our regular spot on top of the rocks.
"Ohhh! That's the spot," she moans in relief as I licked my lips, looking out the ocean, taking a breath.
"Naru?" I heard Mai call out, I turn to only see Mai looking at me, my heart skips a beat as she smiles at me, as this glint of light overcame her brown eyes.
"Your hands are amazing since they're bigger and stronger, it feels so good when you massage me. Thank you," she said.
"Good to know," I simply said as she kisses my cheek. I felt myself grow warm as she leans into my chest, and I encircle my arms around her, holding her against me.
"Do you want me to rub your next?" she asks me as I rub my hands on top of her hands as I look out the ocean once again.
"It's fine, but later before we go to sleep, I'll rub your feet," I told her, Mai jumps a bit and nodded.
"Yes, please, they are beginning to swell, I'm sure it will get worse as time pass. Ugh, being pregnant has its perks, but with bad side effects," she said to me.
I felt my heart pained by this making Mai turn to look at me. I turned as she stares at me with a strange look.
"What?" I arched a brow as she shook her head.
"Don't feel bad, I'm alright honestly Naru, a few more months, we can endure this," she said to me. I slump my shoulders as I leaned forward and gave her a small peck on her lips.
She blushes and closes her eyes, leaning her forehead against the side of my neck.
"You know I was thinking of that day when we both had a week of separation and I saw that woman with her husband and their baby and she looks pregnant, around my time," she began.
"What about it?" I asked.
"You told me that Ayame made you time travel in the past, so the one I saw back then was you and not you from your past. I mean my past and... You know what I mean." She said.
"Yes, it was me, not my past, which was your presence in those moments."
"Yes, that,"
"What about it?" I asked her. I heard her take an intake as she grabs my hand and began to rub her palm against mine.
"I was thinking, I know this is out of the loop, but what if, a big If, that woman and man were us in the future, somehow Ayame managed to make me go to the future or something in those lines to give me hope?" she said. I arched a brow now thinking about it.
"It could be, then whom you spoke to, was you, and it was me from the future, which could be a year from now or whatever, but if that means she is you, that means..."
"I'll get pregnant again and... Oh no," Mai gasps covering her mouth, and turns to look at me.
"What?" I was now worried as she looks down at her stomach then back at me.
"Mai?"
"I just remember something,"
"What?"
"That woman was holding a baby which was sleeping in her bosom, and you were holding another baby boy. So that means that..." It slowly registers to me as panic grew and our joined hearts dove down to the pits of our stomachs with excitement and fear.

...
"We're having twins..." we both said at the same time as our gazes go down to her stomach. Since Mai wears her soft brown dress, it made her look more cozy and warm, as her stomach is out more, making her look more beautiful.
Silence overflows us as we both came to our minds progressing this information. Mai's eyes filled with tears as I felt a lump in my throat not ready for this news.
"T... then... then... We are having twins, and..."
"Yes Mai, we are having twins, are you okay with this?"
"That's what I'm going to ask you, are you okay with this Naru? I mean this is huge, is it not only one precious life but two? Oh my," she said as I don't know why I burst out laughing, causing her to look at me with a serious and confused look at my reaction.
"Oi, why are you laughing, this is serious,"
"I know it is, but damn, I just realized, I'm pretty good if I knocked you up with twins." I don't know if I'm coping with this or what, but I just kept laughing as her small face turns scarlet red. I took a breath and move to wipe her tears from her cheeks.
"You narcissistic jerk," she said as I cup both of her cheeks.
"How am I narcissistic jerk?" I rose a brow as she shook her head.
"Don't say you knocked me up, it sounds dirty," she said to me. My smile drops as I can feel her hurt.
"Sorry, I was only joking Mai, I'm trying to progress this, I'm sorry," I said as I wrap my arms around her and gave her a soft hug, as she shook her head.
"Oh, next time say, that your love was so powerful, that you gave me two babies," she said knowing how sensitive she is right now. I nodded, rubbing her small back.
"Okay, okay," I agree, as she held me back.
"So what do you think?" she said as we separated and she looks at me. I licked my suddenly dry lips and looks straight at her eyes.
"Like anything, we just roll with the punches. What can we do? Just accept it, just add it to the endless surprises of life. How about you?" I asked her.
"I'm terrified and amazed at the same time. Our family is growing Naru, you keep growing my family," I shook my head as I simply told her while holding her small hands.
"Mai, what I bring to you is just simple things, but you're the one that takes what I give and you make it as a home. You're the one that is giving me a warm family, you're the one that returned my happiness and warmth to my heart, and saved me from my darkness."
My light, you're the light of my life that I treasure dearly in this world. If you ever left me or leave, that darkness will consume me and I have nothing to live for.
Mai Pov: Five days later
I'm having two babies, Naru gave me two babies, and I'm so excited and nervous about this, but I'm having his babies. He doesn't know how much pure happiness he brings me.
My little ones, if you can only see and feel how much your Papa means to me, how much I love him, and now I love you two so much, my precious babies. Papa will love you two so much as well, he already does as I caught him staring at my stomach with this strange precious look that melts my heart. He was already as protective over me, now he's even more for you two.
I licked my lips and rub my hands together, as I stare at it.
"Not again, please don't, I beg of you Mai."
"I have to."
"You don't have to, just leave it alone."
"No."
"Don't be stubborn, think of our children..."
"I'm not and what does it have to do with our little ones?"
"Nothing, but we are on a mission today not this, why, oh God, Why do I even bother with you." Naru groans, covering his face with his hand with shame, shaking it.
I ignored him completely. I kept staring in the most concentrated way possible. I didn't notice Naru coming behind me and I suddenly shiver in delight as he presses his hot lips on the base of my neck, gently nipping it causing me to moan in pleasure.
"Mai," he said in a seductive matter, his voice so deep and so loving causing our hearts to simply melt and exhilarate.
Darn it, why does he do this, he knows I can't resist him.
The slimy green frog, that stood in front of me, croak, and jumps out of his leaf, and jumps inside the water.
"Ne, Naru, no fair, using your lips, why did you do that. I was winning.." I complain, as he walks away and comes around me to give me a blank stare.
"Having an eye staring contest with a frog? And your eyes were about to turn watery. Does that even make sense?" He suddenly asks, but rudely.
I shrug his shoulder, feeling disappointed.
"Jerk... I was about to win." But I blinked when he suddenly burst of laughter caught me off guard, again he laughs, causing my heart to warm up.
I love his laugh.
"You never cease to amaze me." he coughs, covering his mouth. I pouted, placing my hand on my round stomach.
"Papa is being a jerk to mama, don't you agree?" I whispered to my tummy. Naru eyes widen,
"Hey, don't say that to our babies," he said to me, causing me to sneakily smirk at him.
Our babies sound so strange but it fits. Oh, how it warms my heart to see how much Naru is part of this new journey and not ignoring it or not, giving no indifference, I do wonder if he would have acted the same way if I were to get pregnant back home without having to live in this island? Would he still be as cold-hearted, or in his own way be this sweet with me?
"See, he's being mean," I teased causing him to roll his eyes at me. I giggled as he suddenly wraps his arms around my waist.
"Eh?" I look up as he simply said.
"I can just pop us," but I shook my head, as I place my hand on top of his, and rubbed it gently.
"No, no powers, for now, let's walk. I need the exercise as you told me. I need to get my body stronger since we discovered that I'm holding two babies." I told him.
Naru sighs, but reaches down and takes my good hand and held it firmly against his. I smiled at his gesture and we began to walk down the path, the same one that Hayato and Shibuya took.
I lowered my gaze and began to rub my thumb across my three dead fingers, wishing I can feel them again.
"What is it?" I heard Naru ask without looking down at me.
"Nothing," I mumbled under my breath. Naru doesn't' say anything, but kept going. In doing so, he suddenly stops causing me to stop as well. I look up as Naru gave me a serious look.
"Mai, I won't push you, but just let it out, I know you want to tell me." he simply told me.
"Suck how much you know me," I simply told him as he shrugs.
"I'm your guardian Mai, but first of all, I'm your husband, I have come to learn almost everything about you after living with you for so long. The last time I check it comes with being a husband,"
"Not all husbands know everything," I told him. He shrugs at me.
"Well then, I'm not like most husbands, after all," he simply said to me. I shyly smiled.
"Mai." His voice now is demanding as I rolled my eyes at him.
"Fine, I was wondering, what happen to Hayato and Shibuya. It's been a while month. I want to know the rest of their stories and Sasuke and Alice. I feel like there is no ending to this." I told him.
Naru's face relaxed for a bit and held my hand tighter.
"When the time comes, we'll know." Was his answer towards me.
"Okay? Then what do we do, when we reach the black lagoon? As well, can you tell me what did Shibuya-kun, do back then to cause his injury back in the cave when I found you, I mean Hayato found him."
Naru suddenly stops, causing me to be pulled back a bit. I stopped and turn to look at him.
"Naru?" I asked a bit concerned by his sudden movement.
"Sorry, I was wondering when you're going to ask me that." He murmurs, moving forward, as his blue eyes turn darker.
"Huh?" I asked, confused. Naru shook his head as though he was shrugging a thought away as I began to follow him since we still held hands.
"He was the one that hid Alack's head." I stopped my tracks and turned to face him.
"Hide Alack's head? How? Explain to me, is this supposed to be the deal you told me about?" Naru nods.
"It is. The deal was that Isaac nor Alack would touch Hayato if he hides Alack's head.."
"What is it so important with his head? Is not made of gold." I asked him. Naru shrugs, turning to look down at me.
"I don't know why, but it holds an important key to get rid of the creatures." My eyes widen at his sudden new information.
"How do you know this?"
"Cause Isac told me about it that night so long ago. When Sasuke pass his guardian duties to the twins, he gave Alack, the horse for a reason.."
"Let me guess, to get rid of the creatures, by purifying them?" Naru shakes his head after I finished for him.
"Not exactly... Remember when we had Sasuke and Alice memories, apart, I came back hurt, and I cursed out the horse?" I titled my head but then nodded at him.
"Hai, I do, what was that about? I never got the whole horse thing, besides that Alack ride in one." I told him. Naru crosses his arms.
"I think it's time to explain." I let go of his hand and face him while placing my hands on top of my stomach and arched a brow.
"After almost a year later, yes, I think it's about time to explain to me what in the world you have been holding back," I told him with a stern look. Naru rub the back of his head and nervously laughed.
"Alright, since I don't want our babies to be born in this hell-bend island with supernatural things trying to kill us. Might as well let the cat out of the bag. The horse that Sasuke mentioned before was made by the sins that came out of the waters. You know how the body of water is very dark and disgusting?" he stated. I nodded at him.
"Yes!"
"The creatures, before they went into slumber, summoned a horse from hell, the horse of War.." I was now staring at him confused.
"Don't give me the four horses man of the apocalypse scenario..."
"Not really, is more like... What if he most signified moments, where one thing seems to lead another, but it isn't?" He suddenly asks me. I stare at him so confused.
"Huh? What in the world are you giving me a riddle? You aren't the joker from Batman," I told him as he rolled his eyes at me.
"Answer me, is part of our bet." He suddenly stated. I scratched the back of my head.
"Can you repeat the question?" I asked him, so he does, then I went into deep thought, then I snap my good fingers, making fire pop out, but it dies down as fast causing Naru to just raise a brow.
"Is it to lure something out, to deceive people. A trap if you will."
"Exactly,"
"So the horse itself is not the horse of war, but a trap?"
"Illusion is more the word. To scare off visitors, or to send them to their death. The horse itself doesn't exist at all. Is an illusion, for Alack to survive the island, without his head, when Shibuya threw the head in the dark waters." He explains to me.
"Oh.,. That makes sense, so why did Sasuke say that? Then what does that have to do with Alack's head missing?"
"A lot. Is not about the head, but what's inside.." Naru taps his index finger against his temple to signify it.
"Oh, I think I got it. Isaac wanted Shibuya to hide Alack's head, cause it contains something that can destroy the creatures, but why was he helping? I thought he hated his brother?"
"Alack did and didn't... One thing about brothers, no matter how mad you get at them, you still love them. Is very complicated... Isaac felt guilty in a way, so he wanted to make it up."
"But the one that deceived Isaac is Alack, from what I remember."
"Sometimes things can look deceiving."
"So Shibuya-kun place Alack head on the black water?"
"To hide something important, is to hide it in plain sight, is the best hiding place." He explains.
"Okay? So let's clear this up, and since you I mean Sasuke gave up his powers and guardianship, it broke the spell that bonded you here, but since you made another bond with me, you were reborn twice. Another is to free the souls on this island, which we already did. Now we just need to purify the waters and get rid of those creatures' things, using whatever Alack has in his head or purpose, and everything will be clear?"
"That summons it up."
"Oi, if that was this easy, why the heck did we go through all that hell? Seriously, then what about the weeping lady? Since we destroy Ester and William, what about her?"
"We'll figure that one, with the memories of Hayato and Shibuya?"
"Then who was that woman screaming, when we burned all the curse scrolls?"
"The weeping lady.." he simply answers. I rubbed my temples, trying to clear my thoughts since this was a bit mind bottling.
"I get why you took so long to tell me, it's just so mind bottling so how did you hurt your leg? I mean Shibuya?" I asked him.
"I fell while climbing down the mountain after I place Asack head inside the water. Anything else?" I shook my head at him.
"I have a headache now. Let's finish this, or not, I probably give birth here." I mumbled, waving my hand. Naru chuckles, taking my hand and slides it down, to intertwine our fingers. A sudden warmth spread through me, as I glance up at him.
"So no wonder it was hard to find the head, Isac was cunning," Naru nods at me as I leaned my head against his arm.
After this nightmare for eight years, I don't think we could have made it this far if we didn't have each other.

...
"You're so mean, I told you I wanted to walk," I complained as we stand on the edge of that dark water of Black Lagoon. Naru shrugs at me.
"I know how you think of me, stop repeating it, you were huffing a lot, as well you almost slip down the cliff," he complains. I rub the back of my neck.
"Err, I didn't slip, you caught me, so I technically didn't slip.." I told him. Naru gave me a tired look. I glance around the area, it looks like it hasn't changed a bit, since we came here last time. Still damp and had a very depressing aura. The water is so dark, that even the color black looks like a bright color. Even if that is possible, trees surround us, as well as mountains.
"Sure, changing the subject, how do we recover the head?" Naru mumbles, capturing his chin, looking down at the water.
I huffed out so I flicked my fingers, and my fire pop out, so I began to twirl my fingers, in a slow circular motion.
"What are you doing?" he asks me, causing me to shrug at him.
"Err, just fidgeting, but can't you just retrieve it with your powers? Since you know where you place it?"
"I can, but I can't let the water touch me or not, it will kill me do with its sin containment." my eyes widen at this information. Stopping my rhythm, I blew off my fire and move closer to him.
"Then don't.. We'll figure something out," I whispered to him as I rub my hand on his arm. Naru nods at me, rubbing his back head, looking around.
"Naru, I never question, what did Alack meant, that because of you, the creatures stop going after us, what did you do?"
"I did my job as your guardian." He simply replies.
I place my hand on my belly, and rub it gently, as a sudden warm feeling passes through me.
"Your papa is overprotective towards me, isn't he?" I mumbled, as I kept staring at my tummy feeling Naru eyes on me, causing me to feel shy, as our joined hearts beat in unison, feeling his love.
"What did you do?" I barely whisper to him.
"I froze them." My eyes widen as I lift my gaze at him.
"Huh? How? I know your powers, but freezing takes a few minutes, then it unfreezes." Naru shrugs at me.
"I have my ways…" he simply replies. I rolled my eyes at him.
"Cold, smart, handsome, and mysterious, you sure come with the whole package.." I joked as he smirks at me with a shrug while a mischievous glint sparkle in his right eye.
"Seductively handsome, that can take you to high places." he winks at me after his husky comment, which causes me to shiver and blush harder.
"Sometimes, I sense Shibuya-kun cockiness in you."
"But you don't deny it, do you?"
"No, because it's true. Eii!, don't say things like that, it's embarrassing." I blushed, but I snap my fingers once again and started to make the fire ring. Then Naru surprises me, when he came up to me, and takes a hold of my hand, and looks at my fire very attentively as though he came with a plan.
"Ne?"
"Can you use your fire as a rope, and grasp the head with it?" he asks.
"As a rope? You know water and fire don't mix." I told him. Naru shakes his head.
"I know that, but I meant, if you can manipulate fire to not burn a human, why not defy logic. Mai your very strong person, so you can do it.." Naru encourages me.
"Err, I can try," I whispered to him and Naru nods as he began to caress the back of my head and gave me a soft smile which I couldn't resist.
"Make a rope, and manipulate it as though you're trying to grasp something. Remember, you control the fire, not the other way around." I bit my lower lip and nodded.
"Don't worry, I'll be right behind you."
"Why is it, always I am in the front?" I grumpily ask him. He cups my cheek and leans forward to kiss my forehead, making my heart flutter causing him to smile tenderly.
"Because you will always be my master and you will always lead the way."
"Geez, what a way to woo me, kill the mood, why don't you?" I rolled my eyes at him causing him to chuckle.
"Just the truth." he simply said as I leaned forward and kiss his lips.
"Aren't you Mr. Suave," I simply told him as he gets behind me and my breath caught as he wraps his arms around my waist and leans to my side sending shivers down my spine.
"Close your eyes and concentrate, I'll guide you," he huskily whispers in my ear. I began to grow nervous, as he places his hands on each of my arms.
"Relax," he stated. I nodded at him, but I couldn't as I turned my head only to see Naru looking very concentrated on the task at hand, but I couldn't help but stare at him with pure love.
He's a very handsome and wonderful man, is this a dream? Is he really mines? Naru turns to look at me and arched a brow.
"Mai?" I lift my gaze to lock eyes and I cleared my throat.
"Huh?"
"The fire, concentrated, later I give you a reward," he said as I arched a brow.
"Reward?" he nods at me as a sudden gust of wind appears from nowhere surround us, flapping our hairs and clothes.
I breathed out and leaned myself against him.
"Eii, I'm not ready for this, give me a second." But too late, the fire in me left my fingertips and went straight into the dark water.
It stretched out like a rope. My eyes widen, as Naru kept his grip tight on my arms as soon it happened.
"Wait, I didn't do anything, how in the..."
"Concentrate Mai, feel it within you, use my powers like last time, and defy logic, I'll guide you to where Shibuya threw the head." He whispers.
"Okay," I nodded, closing my eyes, feeling Naru guiding me where Shibuya would have placed the head, as well keep deep concentration, that my fire is not fire, but a rope. (The fire goes in the water, at first it steams, but I kept my spiritual composure, and after the third try, it went in,) then as I reach the bottom, Naru shifts my arms towards my right, and then I felt something.
"Purify it now." I heard Alack's voice echoed around us. I was about to open my eyes, as though Naru knew, he shakes his head.
"Keep going." He calmly said to me.
I nodded, taking a long breath, feeling Naru's powers surround me like always, I felt this strange flood of emotions pass by me, and when I snap my eyes open, the waters began to boil as though it was cooking, bubbles forming above.
"Now, break it," Alack screams, and with all my force, I manage to hit something hard, and I felt it break. (I hope it was the skull.) My body began to feel weak as Naru held me for support not noticing his Pk surrounding my body, as his other hand held my stomach to protect us.
Nothing happens at first, feeling exhausted and drenched in sweat, I started to tilt backward. Naru immediately wraps his arms around me, a kiss my temple. I move to stare at him and he looks sweaty and pale, so tired as well. I move my injured hand and using the back of my hand, I pat his temple to remove his sweat.
"Poor thing," I mumbled, feeling bad for him. He just gave me a stern look.
"You're truly a strong woman Mai, I'm proud of you and proud that you're my woman. You did wonderfully." He praises me. I gave him a heartfelt smile, kissing his sweaty cheek, feeling my heart swell with his.
Turning my gaze back to the waters, something amazing happened. Naru moves his hands, and all of the sudden, the creatures appear from nowhere, forming a circle around the waters.
Alack stands next to us. We both turn to face him and for the first time, I see his darkness beginning to fade. I held to Naru as Alack suddenly gave us a strange smile which was creepy, but a relief at the same time.
"Thank you, Sasuke, Alice, or should I call you Oliver, Mai," He said to us. I shook my head.
"It's time for you to go, may God have mercy on your soul," I simply told him, and he shook his head, and disappears from our sight.
Turning back to the boiling water, it explodes upwards like a volcano, causing Naru to pull me into his embrace and cover me with his big body.
"Ne, Naru," I spat as I heard him hiss. I look as he shook his head, the upside waterfall finally finished and Naru turns to see the once dark waters finally turning into beautiful blue-greenish water that once it was. I gasped covering my mouth of how beautiful it looks.
"Wow," Naru and I said at the same time, but before we could do anything else the creatures rapidly get closer to us causing Naru to stand in front of me. I grab his shirt and peeked around, fearing that they can harm Naru.
"Naru!" I called out, as Naru just took a hold of my hand, but doesn't say a word.
What took us by surprise was the fact all the creatures which remained the same, suddenly bows at the same time.
"Thank you, for purifying us. This is all we wanted, but the sin of humans consumed us so much that we lost track of what we wanted, be blessed, and please keep our powers safe, as is our thanks for helping us." and they all disappear.
I stood there shaking for some odd reason.
"Mai?"
"We did it? We finally have peace." Naru nods at me, as he helps me up, but a sudden dizzy spell passes through me.
"Naru.."
"Mai, are you okay?" he looks so concerned about me as I felt it. I shook my head.
"I'm fine, just a bit lightheaded... I..." I suddenly felt a pulse run through my body, causing me to grasp my chest.
"MAI!" Naru shouts in panic as I rolled my eyes back, and everything went dark.
Deleted Scene: (A few days before the trip)
Naru Pov
We can hear the harsh winds and rain outside the treehouse, almost slamming against the wood, as though it is trying to get in.
"Naru!"
"Hmm?" I called out as I placed on my pants and put on my button. I turned to see Mai sitting on the floor looking a bit sad, which is strange, we just made love, normally she's so darn happy and in la-la land, well I as well am, and pure heaven. I went up to her and bend on my knees.
"What's wrong?" I asked her as I move to grab our blanket and place it over her. She lifts her gaze and they look a bit hazed. I felt a bit unnerved by this as I can feel her heart feeling a strange emotion.
"Did I hurt you or our babies?" I asked a bit worried as Mai shook her head.
"No Naru, as always, you are gentle and a gentleman with me, no complaints, it has nothing to do about us making love, trust me, that is something I can't get enough of you, but after a month or more I'm sure it will be less and less since I will get bigger and a bit more difficult. I'm sad about something else," she admits to me. I breathed out in relief.
That's good, but it's true, it will get more difficult since we are not sure how her body can handle holding two babies at the same time or how big she'll get. That I can hold off, while she's safe, I can endure just like always.
"Then what has my little worm, worried about?" I asked her. She wraps her arms around her stomach and looks down.
"I'm scared," she said to me.
"Of?" I asked as I began to brush her hair behind her ear. Mai turns to look back at me.
"Two babies Naru, we're having two babies, it just dawns on me just now. I have no complaints, but it's more responsibility and what I can gather, I'll get pregnant again with our third child," she said to me seriously. I rub her bareback, as I summon her white dress, so she won't be naked.
"Well, if we survive eight years with ghosts, zombie-looking things, a woman that threw you against the ceiling almost killing you. A man that I want to kill, and almost dying a couple of times, I think we can handle twins. Remember, I'm a twin and I know more how twins work and when you get pregnant again, well what can we do? Just make the same progress, but this time we will be more prepared."
"I hope you're right Naru," she said as I help her get dressed.
"I hope so too. Now, since is raining outside, we can't go and bathe, so hold on a bit," I told her, she nods like a child as she lifts her arms up. I chuckled and place the dress on her. She kept staring at me with sweet eyes.
"Yes?"
"Is it true twins have telepathic communications?" she suddenly asks me. I cross my arms and gave her a serious look.
"Of course, we can even read each other's minds," I told her. Her eyes bugged out.
"Seriously? You had that power with Gene?" She asks me as she gets closer to me with a bug-like eye.
"Of course, not Mai. We were very close and pick up things between us, but not to the extent of reading each other minds, that would be too disturbing, I already have enough to think of,"
"Jerk, and you're right, poor Gene, he would have lost his marbles with you," she said as I rolled my eyes at her while helping her stand up.
"Funny," I said dryly to her, causing her to give me a sweet smile.
"Aren't I a riot," she winks playing along. I chuckle as I kiss her temple.
"The worse type," she giggles at me as I help her walk down the stairs, but suddenly stops and gasp.
I look at her as I felt her heart jump strangely, alert bells rang in my head.
"Mai, what's wrong? Did you hurt yourself? " I asked her panic grew in my heart. Mai turns to look at me with wide eyes.
"Ne, Naru," she said as she grabs my hand and surprisingly place it on top of her round stomach.
"What?" I felt confused as I saw a tear roll down her cheek.
"Mai, what's wrong with you?" I rub her stomach as she gives me a sweet smile of pure happiness.
"One... One of the babies, I felt it kick or move," she said as I stare at her not believing what I just heard.
"Really?"
"Yes, it felt strange, I can't explain..." but she stops as I felt a small movement as well and our hearts began to pound heavily with pure happiness, excitement, and all types of emotions.
"You felt that?" she asks me, so I nodded as I drop to my knees, and cup her stomach with my palm and place a small kiss. Mai smiles tenderly as I couldn't believe it.
How come, Mai continues to surprise me? This is amazing and frightening at the same time.
I lift my gaze to see Mai looking at me tenderly and began to caress my hair. I move my hand and grab hers, then I place a tender kiss on top causing her to cry.
Yet, we didn't say a word as we knew, we knew that this moment was confirmed that no matter what, we made something that came from our love and it runs deep that it brought tears to my eyes. I wipe them off before she caught me, I don't want her to get concerned.
Loving someone isn't just about love that is just part of it, but giving and sacrificing, Mai is sacrificing her health and her body shape to give life to our two babies. I can never repay her enough, but all I can do is continue to take care of her, and give everything that I am with my wife, even my imperfections, as I accept hers.
