Chapter Seventy: Tease
Naru Pov
I stood in the middle of a familiar place, it looks like my old office, somehow I felt strange being here, I haven't even dreamt about it. I turn my head to my right to see my old desk, with my computer on, letting the light reflex, as hot steam of a cup of tea sat in front.
"Tea? Did Mai leave it there? Wait, why am I back in my old office?" I wondered as I went up to it to grasp the handle, only to stop when I heard a small cry of a woman. I lift my gaze to see Mai standing there, wearing her old clothes, a small blue skirt, and a light blue shirt.
"Mai?" I arched a brow confused by this, she lifts her brown eyes, as tears continue to roll down her eyes. My heart began to hurt from the sight, I was about to walk around, only to feel my feet grounded on the floor unable to move. A woman appeared behind Mai, with hollow eyes, in circles her pale arms around my wife
"Don't touch her!" I said, fighting off this paralyzing spell, the woman smirks at me and turns to look at Mai.
"Why? She's mine!" and before I could do anything, the woman pulls Mai away from me.
"NARU!" Mai extends her arms out as I did the same, but then everything went dark.

A month later
Life has gotten a bit more as normal as we want, no more ghosts or dreams, but only our full attention towards our six old months babies. Just like Gene said, they are growing, but so slowly, anyone would mystically think they are only four months old. I know Gene said not to worry about it, but it does bother us. They should be a bit bigger and such, the only thing they learned was to crawl.
"Peek a boo!" I said as I lowered my hand down and the twins, which lay on my chest burst out laughing. My heart warms up at a simple matter causing them so much joy.
"You know you look so handsome," I heard on my right. I turned to see Mai laying on her stomach, just looking at me and the babies.
I arched a brow at her statement.
"Like I wasn't before?" I teased sounding serious as she began to run her fingers through my hair.
"Just extra handsome as you play with our babies. They love you so much Naru," she said to me. I move my free hand and grabbed her hand and rose it to my lips to kiss it.
"I hope so, I help to make them," I smirked, looking at her causing her to blush harder.
"Oh boy, that you did," she threw a kiss at me, causing me to wink at her. I chuckled and run my thumb across her fingers.
"I love them dearly as well Mai. Aya is looking so much like you, she has your eyes," I told her, but Mai frowns looking back at me.
"You think so? I think she looks like you and Gene look like me," she said. I look back to see Gene, he was sucking his thumb, laying his small head on my chest while Ayame began to giggle when Mai began to rub her back then Gene's.
"I can see Gene looks like my big brother," I said as I watch Gene fall into a deep slumber. Mai picks up Ayame and place her into her arms, while I carefully picked up Gene.
"You and Gene look the same silly, so it doesn't matter, but I just pray Gene has your brother's tender eyes. If he becomes cold-hearted with your eyes, oh boy he'll have trouble finding love in the future." Mai rolled her eyes, as I stood up and went up to her.
"Hey, isn't that a bit extreme?" I asked her a bit bitter.
"Am I? Naru you still have that icy look after nine years, and even though girls just simply fall for you, doesn't mean anyone can handle your attitude. I want Gene to be tender and gentle as well smart and calculated so he won't be taken advantage of."
"Don't worry, I won't let him, and aren't you with me?"
"I know Naru, I know you won't let our kids go astray, and me being with you is just pure luck, it's all, or not I would have married someone kind, romantic, and loving…"
"Like Gene?" I added causing her to close her mouth and turn to look at me.
"Huh? No, Gene? I wasn't assuming him, I…." she became nervous and worried as I turned to disappear, feeling a bit disappointed by this. I place Gene down on his small bed on the second floor, when suddenly I heard running behind me.
"Na… Ru!" I heard Mai gasp out between breaths. I turned to see Mai hunched over holding to her knees.
"What?" I asked a bit roughed out.
"I didn't mean it like that, I was only teasing you. Please, I promise you, I have no feelings for your brother, you know that." She stresses out as she straightens up and looks at me.
"Where's Aya?" I avoided her.
"She's at the playpen, Naru, please, I was only teasing you." I began to walk past her, only to feel her wrap her arms around my waist, pressing her cheek against my back.
"Please talk to me, you know I accepted how you are, you're the kindest, most loyal, most patient, the most passionate and loving man I ever met. You know that I'm crazy about you, you're my family, I know how much you love me." she said to me. I slump my shoulders and turned to look at her.
Am I? Passionate? That's because you drive me crazy Mai, seriously if you knew the power you have over me, I'll be a dead man. She doesn't understand how crazy I'm for her.
"Mai, I'm not mad at you, I get where you're coming from, being honest, you do deserve a man that is caring and can respond to you when you tell him that you love him. You deserve a better man Mai, I'm sorry that I can't be that open, I wish I could be more like Eugene, so I pray that our Eugene will grow to be like my big brother." I told her honestly.
"I take it back, while Gene is a good man, I don't care if he has cold eyes and such. While he's just like his Papa, I'm so sorry Naru. I didn't mean to hurt you," she began to cry causing me to grow in panic.
"Mai, I'm not mad at you, you silly girl, why are you crying?" I began to wipe her tears as she shook her head at me.
"I hurt you, I don't... Like hurting you," she said between cries, causing me to wrap my arms around her, and rub her back.
"Mai, trust my words, I'm not mad at you, or did you hurt me. We were just chitchatting it's all and you're right, Gene should grow up as a warm person, unlike me, so you're right." I told her. Mai moves to look at me.
"I was only teasing you Naru, you know that and I want Gene to grow just like his father, so I'm sorry, I'm the luckiest woman alive to have a wonderful husband, you have no idea how much I thank God for you. You can feel it don't you? Since our hearts are one?" She asks me.
"Of course, silly girl," I admit as I can feel her heart thrive with love for me causing me to kiss her cheek.
"Then come with me," she takes a hold of my hand and gave Gene one last look. Holding each other hands, we headed downstairs, until we reached the first floor and went to the playpen. Ayame already sounds asleep.
"Too bad, I wanted to continue to play with her, since her other half is knocked out." I rub the back of my head as Mai rubs my arm.
"Tomorrow, they had a long day anyways, I should place her upstairs," Mai said, as I watch her pick her up. Ayame let out a small yawn stretching her small chubby arms out. Mai smiles tenderly, and rose her to kiss her forehead, then takes her upstairs and I rub my hands as I look around.
Maybe if I change this around, it will make Mai happy? I cracked my neck and using my powers, I rearrange everything, even set up some candles around without lighting it up so it won't be a fire hazard.
The playpen is upstairs, next to our bed, and I place blankets hanging from the ceiling to mimic as curtains, about three, and the thinnest material since it's already as hot, even though it's nighttime.
"There, both are sleeping like angels," Mai said as she came down, but her eyes widen to see the new decoration. Mai covers her mouth with her mouth in shock.
"Naru," she gasps as I shyly look away, shrugging my shoulders.
"I was bored," I somewhat lied as she goes up to the first white blanket, and runs her fingers through the material.
"Oh and here I thought we would be wrapping ourselves with the blankets." she teased causing me to look back at her.
"We aren't vampires," I dryly reported. She rolls her eyes at me with a playful smile.
"If it means being with you for the rest of my life, then why not?" she winks causing my heart to skip a beat.
"Just out of boredom, want to have a small date with me, or we can go and sleep?" I asked, extending my hand for her.
Mai slips her hand on mine, and I pulled her into my embrace.
"Why Mr. Shibuya, sleeping is just a bore," she teased while I slip my arm around her waist.
"Then I'll just spice it up, can I have this dance?" I asked her, she looks a bit dazed as she looks back at me.
"Sorry, normally we go to sleep when the twins sleep. I've forgotten a date is a normal thing for a couple," she admits causing me to chuckle.
"Ah, but we aren't a normal couple, then we can go and sleep if you…"
"No, yes, I'll have this dance," she said rapidly causing me to nod. Without a second thought, Mai slips her hand on mines, extending our arms outwards and we began to waltz our way, as we became lost in each other, our bodies melding into one, knowing each other steps.
"You know, when we return, we can put some music, that is not drums," Mai said as a giggle passed her lips.
"Hmm, that would be great, what music do you like?" I asked as we twirl around, missing the blanket by inches.
"Ah, I like Jpop, Kpop, but for us, I want to tango," she said, as I extend her and spun her, then pull her back in my arms.
"Tango?" I knitted my brows as she nods at me.
"It's sexy and exotic, and I always like to see a couple dance the tango," she admits with a blush as I dip her back and pull her back forward, making her gasp as our faces came inches apart. Our join hearts accelerated a mile per second.
"You sure is not an excuse so I can touch you?" I teased, not minding at all, just to feel her. Mai's flushed face turns redder and shook her head.
"You silly man, I always want you to touch me, even if it means just holding my hand, but I do like the excitement," she kisses my forehead and moves back and we continue to dance.
"What about you? What music do you like?" She asks me.
I extend my arm out as she positioned herself and we began to twist according to the movements.
"I like light music, like Mozart, and such, I'm not into modern music, that would be Gene territory," I told her the truth, heaving a bit, she locks eyes with mines.
"Why am I not surprised you old man," she teases as she takes a step forward, I pulled her close to my body causing her to gasp.
"Old man?" I rose a brow causing her to blush once again.
"I mean young educated man, twenty-eight isn't old, especially if you still look like a teen." she pats my shoulder nervously laughing causing me to roll my eyes at her.
"Yeah, I can be hip with the new generation, you know," I teased her causing her to burst out laughing.
"Geez, Lin will have a run for his money," she played along causing me to laugh at her words.
I pulled away and extend my arm out, so I can spin her around me, and she follows.
"Oh is it after he gets over the shock that we are still alive after so many years?" I asked.
"Yeah, true," she agrees.
I pulled her back to me and slowly we continue to dance, just enjoying each other after so many months of just attending to the babies without having some time alone for each other. She lays her head on my shoulder, just swaying to a piece of nonexistent music, as I leaned my cheek on top of her head.

"Close your eyes," Mai said after our dance. I tilt my head to the side and watch her place her hands behind her back.
"Why?" I asked as I leaned against the wall next to the window.
"Just humor me," she said to me. I closed my eyes, waiting for her return, I can hear her steps shuffling as I cross my arms.
Lin, I miss you, I wonder what have you been up to these last years? I hope for a better life than what Mai and I ever had. You'll be in shock.
I began to miss Lin, when suddenly I felt a finger between my eyes, causing me to open them. I see Mai looking at me with those deep brown eyes with worry.
"I'm sure Lin misses you lots, we just have months from now we will be back, just be a bit patient." she soothes me. I grabbed her hand and stare at her.
"How do you know I'm thinking of Lin instead of Gene?" I asked her. Mai mischievously squints her eyes.
"I just know Naru, huh, aren't I beginning to become mysterious, knowing what you're thinking of? And no, not because our hearts are joined," she said to me.
"Hmm, that's my job, but why did you have me close my eyes?" I asked her. Mai's brown eyes light up.
"I got you a present," Mai said a bit chirpy.
"A present?" I asked her, causing her to nod at me.
"Remember that cave that is filled with shells?" she asks me. I licked my lips, but nodded at her.
"I do, you were a few months pregnant when we went for that date, why? Want to go back? I can arrange that," I told her as I began to run my fingers through her hair, causing her to shiver as I stare at her deeply.
Mai bites her lower lip and shook her head.
"Ah, that would be great, we can even have the children swim with us, but… but no, that's not the point," she said a bit breathlessly.
"Oh no?" I questioned her. She shakes her head at me.
"I made you something,"
"You made me something?" I rose a brow a bit surprised by this.
Mai nods at me as she moves her arm away from her back and takes a step back and brings it up.
I lowered my gaze and to my surprise, she has a picture frame at hand, melted shells together, minus no glass. The picture frame is a rectangular shape, big enough to fit a large picture.
"A picture frame?" I asked her. Mai nods at me, as she looks at me a bit concerned.
"I was thinking, we have zero pictures of us and our babies, so when we go back, we can take a family picture and you can place it in here, and put it on top of your desk office. I thought it would be touching, some memento from the island, a bit of proof that we were stuck here for ten long years. I'm sure after we return, this place will become a distant memory. I know this is out there, but The Black Lagoon has become a part of us, our home, that watched us grow and watched us become a couple, and parents." She explains, running her fingers through the shells.
Family picture? I want her to take a picture in her wedding dress as well. I feel touched by this, no wonder she was very secretive about this. How sweet.
"So do you like it? If not, I can do something else," she said a bit nervously. I shook my head at her.
"No, it's cute Mai, I promise to put our family picture here, it will go right next to my computer. So when I pan over, I can see you guys." I promised, feeling very touched by this.
"Really?" she asks with hope.
"Of course," I gave her a gentle smile, as I began to brush my fingers through her soft cheek.
"Oh, thank God, I was a bit nervous, since last time I gave you a present, we ended up arguing," she said to me.
"Well, no, you ran out before letting me finish a sentence," I corrected her. She pouts at me and began to run her fingers down my chest.
"Well, I learned my lesson, but I'm glad that you like it." She presses her cheek against my chest and closes her eyes.
"Again Naru, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you. I wouldn't change you for anyone," she said again. I kiss the top of her head.
"I thought we drop that, I have somewhat forgotten about it." I admit as she lifts her gaze at me.
"Sorry," I sigh at her, shaking my head.
"Let's do something fun before we go to sleep," I told her, Mai arched a brow and before she could ask, I jump us to the coast of the beach, as the night summer breeze brush against our heated skins. Mai looks around then back at me.
"Naru, what about the twins… We can't just…" but I bend down and kiss her lips fast, and then slip my hand on hers.
"They are sleeping, we won't be out for too long, nothing will happen. I made sure they are safe." I assured her. Mai didn't look convinced, as I rub her hand.
"They will be fine Mai." I told her. Mai slumps her shoulders and nodded as we began to walk down the beach.
"It's been a long time since we walk like this, the breeze feels good," she said, looking out the horizon of the ocean watching the soft waves. Just being quiet and enjoying the silence and the sound of the waves felt peaceful. No ghosts or the undead after us felt like a dream.
"I'm going to miss the late-night strolls here, with no one around," Mai breaks the silence.
"Me too," I said to her when suddenly an idea popped into my mind.
"Then let's make each day count before we leave," I told her, causing her to look at me.
"Huh?" a playful look passes my eyes, as I suddenly wrap my arms around her making her squeal.
"Ne, Naru?" I lift her over my shoulders.
"Oi, put me down, what in the world?" she protested to me.
I ignored her and walk up to the edge of the waters, and then drop her, wetting her from head to toe.
"NARU!" she screams, lifting herself, but fails, falling back into the waters. I let out a burst of small laughter, covering my mouth.
"What?" I question innocently as she huffs out angrily.
"You're so mean, come help me up," she stretches her arm towards me, as I lowered my hand to grab it, but I jerk my hand away.
"You think I'm stupid? I know you will try to pull me in, good luck," I teased, turning around to head out, but my eyes widen when I heard Mai yell.
"Oh no you don't mister," then I felt Mai jump my back, wetting the back of my clothes.
"Oi!" I trash back and forth trying to get rid of her, but held her legs, so she won't harm herself, but she held me tight.
"Oh no you don't mister, if I went down, you're coming with me," she said seriously, as she wiggles causing me to somehow lose footing and I fall forward.
Landing on the waters, I turned to see Mai is holding onto her leg as she yells a painful cry causing my heart to leap in worry. Ignoring my pain, I turned to rush towards her side.
"Mai!" I was cut off, when Mai smiles at me and grabbed my collar and pulls me close, locking her lips with mine, giving me a deep kiss, surprising me that both of my brows rose, and before I could fully enjoy it from recovering from the shock, she painfully pulls back, causing me to be disappointed.
"Wow, your kiss cured me, I'm not hurt anymore," she teased moving her leg to show me. I rolled my eyes at her once again.
"Mai, do not tease me like that," I felt annoyed, as I wrap my arm around her and help her to get up, but in doing so, I took a huge notice of the red dress she wears, somehow clenched into her body, giving me a good view of the shape of her body. I swallowed hard, looking anywhere but her. Mai seems to notice and a sly smirk passed her lips.
"Not very playful aren't we?" she teased as I turned to look down at her, my breath caught, when Mai rose the bottom of her dress, revealing her milky legs. I suddenly licked my dry lips, ignoring the taste of the sea salt.
"I should be asking you that Mai, teasing your husband like that, you know my heart can't take it, do you know how beautiful you look right now? I'm just a simple man," I told her, as Mai drops the bottom of the dress and walks closer to me. Her wet hair plaster down, as she breathes a bit heavily, her skin glisters with the moon rays that showered over her.
I'm a lucky bastard.
"I am?" she asks, causing me to absent-mindedly nod at her.
"Very beautiful Mai, you have no idea," I told her, as Mai gives me a sweet look, driving my blood wild.
"Then I'm a simple girl Shibuya-kun if you can only see how dashingly handsome you look right now. I even feel shy standing under your gaze, you're making me feel like a teen, shy under her first crush," she said timidly, rubbing her arms as I couldn't smirk at her words.
Well, it's good to know that I still have that effect on her, good God, I can feel the tension.
"Well, right now I'm feeling shy, just standing in front of you, like a teen, smitten without words Mai, like always," I admit, blushing, looking away. Not sure why we suddenly felt like innocent teenagers. Mai timidly smiled as she walks closer to me.
"No matter how much time pass, sometimes I feel like my teenage self instead of a fully grown adult, oh Naru, you make my blood boil and my heart race, making me fall in love with you, even more, deeper," she said as I lift my gaze a bit shocked by this. Not sure why.
"Mai," I only said, not sure how to respond to that because that's how I feel.
"I know Naru, you don't have to tell me, but I do have a secret Naru," she said to me, in a very subtle voice, almost longing. I swallowed hard, as I felt her hands on the hems of my pants, as she stares at me with longing.
"W... what?" I nervously asked.
Please tell me to make love to you, nine months is a long time Mai.
"I've been having this dream,"
"Dream?" I questioned her. She nods and swallows hard.
Dream? Like my dream? That woman taking Mai from me? I felt every muscle in me tightening at the memory.
What can I do? Is this a new case? Am I going to lose Mai again?
"It began a few days ago, but in this dream, we are back at your old office, but I keep crying hard, you weren't with me and a woman's voice kept telling me, I'm hers, I don't know what happen, but this dreadful feeling tore me apart," she admits to me.
"Seriously?" I slump my shoulder, not liking this at all. Mai began to undo the buttons of my shirt.
"Yes, not even Gene was there. I was so frightened," she said, watching her open my shirt, and begin to kiss my chest.
"Hmm, do you think what you told me months ago will happen? That we might separate?" I asked her, hating this old feeling that I know so well. Mai lifts her gaze at me.
"Then what do we do? I can't bear to leave you, in my dream I was dying," she asks wearily, running her fingers up and down my chest, as I began to make circles on her waist.
Dying? Oh no.
"I promise as soon we enter that boat with our kids, we won't be apart, not even for a second. I don't' care who oppose us, they have no right or know the hell we went through. We only have each other Mai. I know this sounds sad but we have gotten to a point where we rely on each other and no one else. Yes, I miss our friends and family, but I have forgotten what it means to rely on them. My world has become yours, nine years is a long time for us."
Mai slips my shirt off my shoulders and continues to kiss where my heart lies as her other hand caress my skin. I closed my eyes, as my chest became uneven, feeling my blood beginning to boil.
"Oh Naru, I trust you with everything, then make me a promise," she asks, as I cup her cheek and rose her gaze.
"Whatever it is, I promise," I said, as I leaned down to claim her lips, but she places her finger on my lips to stop me. I opened my eyes to stare at her a bit disappointed that she stopped me.
"If, a bit if we do separate, promise me that you'll find me, no matter what. That you are looking for me, or I am looking for you, it will give us hope. Just like when you left me for months looking for those herbs, all of those years ago." She looks very serious and hopeful about this. I kiss her fingers and nodded at her.
"I promise, no matter what happens, no one will separate us, Mai. You're mine as I'm yours." I lowered her finger, her eyes watery.
"Oh Oliver, I love you so much," she said passionately. I pulled her into my embrace and finally press my lips against hers finally breathing out in relief. It began a soft kiss, just a soft kiss, which brought butterflies to my stomach, I place my arm under her legs and hoist her up to my arms, without breaking the kiss.
Gasping out, she pulls back, looking at me with a deep desire and love, driving me crazy.
"Mai, I'm sorry, but I can't hold back," I told her. Mai suddenly smiles, leaning forward to nuzzle my cheek, then whispers.
"Then don't hold back my love, make love to me," and the next thing I knew we were back in the Treehouse. I place her down, somehow we began to remove our wet clothes, dropping them on the floor, as we continue to kiss, stumbling backward.
"Ouch," Mai suddenly gasped, making me rip away from her, breathing hard.
"Did I… Hurt you?" I asked worriedly, checking on her, but she shook her head.
"No, I stepped on one of the kids' toys," she said, looking down to spot the old train.
I stopped and look around to see that we were on the second floor, and then glance over to our twins, which both were still in a deep sleep. I arched a brow, turning to look at my wife.
"Sorry, got the wrong floor, bad habit," I said, causing her to give me a strange look, but then burst out laughing.
"Don't worry, our hormones spoke first than our logic, luckily the twins didn't wake up," she said between laughter, as I licked my swollen lips.
"So, do we stop?" Mai questions as I slip my arm around her naked waist.
"Who said to stop? it's too late Mai, I want to be lost in you," I leaned forward and gently bite her earlobe causing her to shake.
"Oi, so do I, I want to be lost in you," she gasps, as she cups my cheeks, and began to kiss me once again.
I popped us downstairs, and I can feel her trying to remove my pants. I began to kiss down her jaw, towards her neck, feeling her moan. Slowly I lowered myself to begin to kiss every inch of her, missing this so much. Her taste, her reactions, the texture of her skin, and her heat.
Mai closes her eyes, holding onto the top of my head for support, biting her lower lip as pleasure irrupts her body as her breathing becomes harsher, driving me crazier, feeling my desire for her grow, which I couldn't describe in words.
I love this woman so much, after all these years, she still makes me desire her as a woman.
I stopped in front of her stomach and stare at it for a brief second as Mai opens her eyes to look down at me, heaving hard.
She held our twins, Mai is so small, but in there, she held our babies. It is just so surreal and beautiful.
"Ne, why did you stop?" she said a bit breathlessly, as I press my hand on her stomach. She suddenly felt self-conscious.
"Don't look at it, even though my stomach is back to normal, it's a bit ugly and…" but I stopped her as I began to kiss it, catching her off guard.
"You are so beautiful Mai, and nothing will change that. I was thinking about our babies when you were pregnant. Thank you for being the mother of my children." I told her as I look up to see Mai looking down at me, with tears rolling down her eyes.
"Oh Naru." I lift myself and claimed her lips, feeling her encircled her arms around my shoulders, pulling me closer, kissing me with the same intense feeling I have, and slowly giving into our love, as the night and the blankets became a witness to our love.
Our love burns deeply into our hearts, body, and soul.

We acted as though we were newlyweds once again and I couldn't just stop touching my wife.
"Last night was beautiful too bad we fell asleep," Mai suddenly says out of the blue, as we sat in our spot that oversees the ocean. Ayame is on Mai's lap while Gene is on mine. Our hands held, and played with each other, sneaking kisses here and there, it's been so long since we've been this intimate.
"Mai, we made love three times, I was exhausted," I blushed, as I bend down and began to raddled Gene's toy, so he can play with it. Gene stretches his small chubby hands to grab it.
Mai blushes, looking at Ayame in embarrassment.
"Too bad,"
"Too bad?" I turn to look at her as she lifts her gaze at me.
"We could have gone for a fourth round," she cheekily smiles, kissing my cheek. My cheeks flares up, but I smirked, and kiss her cheek.
"Next time, I'll surprise you," I winked, causing her to giggle, moving closer to me.
"You know I can get pregnant once again," she said. I shrugged, looking at the horizon.
"If so, now we know why you saw your future self pregnant," I told her. Mai squints her eyes confused but then turns to look at me after it dawns on her.
"Oh yes, so that means soon I'll get to see my past self once again." she sounded a bit excited. I wrap my free arm around her shoulders, causing her to lean on my shoulder.
"I can't wait either." I smiled, leaning my head against hers, then she turns her head to look at me.
"Oh, I forgot to ask you, aren't you going to tell me the secret you have mentioned before? " I gave her a questionable look, thinking back, then it dawns on me.
Oh, that promise.
"No, later," I told her making her pout at me.
"Oh, Aya, papa is being a big meanie to mama, he won't tell me the secret." She fake cries, causing Ayame to giggle and begin to bounce on her lap. Mai's eyes soften, then looks back at me.
I smiled at Ayame.
She's so adorable, I hope she and Mai have a good mother and daughter relationship, Ayame nor Gene doesn't gets how much they mean to Mai. She loves them to death.
"Pretty please, with a cherry on top?" Mai breaks my thought as I lift my gaze to see her fluttering her eyes, trying to be cute. I sigh, shaking my head at her, as I adjust Gene on my lap.
"You know puppy eyes don't work on me, but I can give you a preview of the secret," I told her, looking at the horizon. Gene does the same, as Mai nods, looking excited.
"Yes, what is it?"
"It has to do with something you wished." It's all I told her.
Mai pouts, looking down at Ayame.
"I have everything I wish for. A loving husband, that I love with all my heart and soul, and two beautiful babies that I also love so much, that came out of that love. What else can I wish for? Besides, you never leave me," she asks me.
"It's all I can give you for now," I simply told her. Mai sighs.
"Well, that doesn't help."
"Good." I smile in a teasing matter. Mai suddenly moves towards Gene and grabs him, to place him on her lap, next to Ayame.
"Mai?"
"Sit behind me." She blushes, now getting it, I move behind her and spread my legs sitting right behind her. She leans on my chest, as I wrap my arms around her, and place my chin on her shoulder.
"We will see our friends soon. Explaining this will be difficult." She presses her side head against mine and closes her eyes.
"I won't worry too much. Sure, they will be shocked, when we see each other, it will be a full ten years, but they will understand." I assure her.
Suddenly I move my hand and start to tickle her side causing a giggle to escape her.
"Ne, Naru?" she looks up at me, and I gave her a grim look.
"Let's enjoy our last few months on this island," I told her. Mai relaxes in my arms, as I move to kiss her mouth. She fluttered her eyes close and shivers as our lips met, deepening the kiss. She breathes out, leaning her forehead against my cheek.
"Strangely, I will miss this place," I nod at her, and held her closer, as the babies play with the hem of her skirt.
"Me too," I admit.
Mai nods and closes her eyes.
"Oh, Naru,"
"Hmm?"
"About last night,"
"What?" I asked as I began to nuzzle the back of her head, lovingly, closing my eyes.
"I forgot to tell you something," she said, turning to look at me. I felt suddenly worried, while Mai lock eyes with mine.
"What is it?"
"In my dream, I don't know why I keep hearing a woman's voice."
"The same woman?" I asked, she nods leaning her forehead against my cheek as a tear rolled down her cheek.
"I don't' remember her voice, but like the lady in the mirror, she forbids us to be together, and she kept telling me she rather see me dead than seeing you and me together." My whole body goes rigid, and I held Mai tighter.
"Mai, I think this could be our new case when we return," I told her, Mai turns to look at me and gives me a scared look.
"So soon?" she asks me. I shrugged, not sure myself, but brush my hand behind her head.
"Maybe because I did have a similar dream and that woman was taking you away from me and it drove me crazy and not in a good way."
