-„What happened to Kenna?" Rebekah asked with a light frown and Dewan rolled his eyes. „Your friend was throwing herself at me and then suddenly went off in tears. Not the way to find a husband, don't you agree?"
-„Dewan, she is traumatized!" Dewan did not miss the slight reproach, but he was convinced he did nothing wrong. „Calm down, sister. You should be happy, your favorite sellsword pet is a knight now."
-„That man is nobody's pet, I can assure you that, baby brother."
-„Three men asked for your hand today, Bekah. Now that Clegane is finally out of our way, they're not afraid anymore. Ser Leodas Lefford, heir of the Golden Tooth, Lord Reginald Lennister of Lennisport and the Redwyne Twins"
-„Which makes them four."
-„Oh, the old Lord Redwyne would not mind you taking both." Dewan joked but became serious again.
-„I told them they have to engage in the tourney like everyone else, but anyways, I would not have chosen one of them. Making you a Lannister may sound nice, but the first thing Reginald said to me is that he was ‚going to tame the wilding'." He raised an eyebrow scornfully.
-„We do not need someone who oppresses our family and sees himself as superior. The Redwyne twins Hobber and Horas are out of question." Dewan scoffed. „Even both of them put together are not man enough for you."
Rebekah grinned. „And the last, Ser Leodas, is he an option?" she asked, trying to imagine what the heir of the Goldthooth may looked like.
"Yes, he's not much older than you, a skilled fighter and a smart man. But since the tourney was the only way to get rid of Clegane, we will have to take whoever wins. Every knight and Lord is able to attend, Rebekah, I would not underestimate that." Dewan noted doubtfully.
-„Oberyn Martell seemed quite interested in you. But sadly, we are not highborn enough for House Martell." Dewan said with dissapointment.
-"Yet you should try to keep his attention at any price."
Rebekah scoffed at the last words. „At any price?!" her brother cocked his eyebrow and smiled. „You know how I meant that."
-„The man hates every breathing Lannister. He will never bond with a minor western House." Rebekah reasoned, trying to keep her brother from aiming to high.
-„No, he won't. Anyways, it doesn't change only a good archer will win your hand."
Most likely she would be stuck with a men without wealth, power and land.
-„You have to keep in mind than everything is better than the Mountain." She muttered, convinced no other men could be such a monster.
-„I know this is not about a perfect husband. If it was not for the Mountain, I would find you the most handsome, kindest, honorablest and richest men in the Seven Kingdoms. Now we have to take what we can get." Dewan said bitterly, and Rebekah could not help feeling bad. It was her fault her marriage was not going to bring much to the family.
„I am sorry, Dewan." She muttered sheepishly, but Dewan took her hands in his. „Don't be, Rebekah. Mycah is the one who started it all. You and me, we have to take control over our own Castle again. You need a husband who can protect you, provide for you. A men loyal to our House and to you. Not to Mycah, not to somebody else."
OoOoO
As soon as Dewan was gone, Rebekah hurried to Kenna's chambers.
She found the women sitting on the bed, wrapped around her legs and sobbing heavily. „Kenna?" she whispered carefully, and Kenna cried even more. „Please, Lady Rebekah, go away."
Rebekah approached her and sat next to her on the bed. „Tell me, Kenna, what is it?" she muttered and Kenna looked at her with wet eyes. „He... He wants me to... kill Lord Dewan..." she said between sobs. „Poisen him, push him down the stairs, but first he wanted me to make him drunk, to make him like me.." Rebekah could hardly understand her words.
-„He said he would marry me afterwards even though I have been... I am so sorry, Rebekah. I am so sorry. I did not do it, I could not hurt your brother, nor you. And now I will never find a husband."
-„Shhh." Rebekah took her into her arms, trying to calm her friend.
-„Who wants you to hurt Dewan?"
-„ Mycah Kenning."
OoOoO
Bronn had never seen her that way. The kitten was terrorized, walking around restlessly as she told Tyrion, Dewan and Branston Hill about her visit to Kenna.
-„Why would Mycah ask Kenna to kill me? I mean she is a girl, no warrior."
-„He wanted you to undererstimate her, my lord. And your stepfather's sister Lady Harriot is her aunt by marriage. " Branston explained and Tyrion nodded in agreement.
„We will not underestimate Mycah. He is coming in three days, and I will kill him." Dewan said impatiently.
Rebekah shook her head. A thought had not left her since the previous evening. „Kenna said she could not do it and I believe her. But I do think she was lying."
Every person in the room stared at her as if she had just lost her mind.
„I know Kenna, I know she has been through terrible things. She is not well. Someone intimidated her, but when she said it was Mycah, she was lying. I can feel it."
-„Well then there is no doubt at all." Bronn said but Rebekah piercing look made him stay quiet.
-„Mycah is the ennemy of House Waldorf, my lady!" Branston Hill rose up, much to Rebekah and Dewan's surprise. The man was not known to have such a temper.
-„Lady Rebekah has a point. From what I've heard from Lord Mycah, he is a cunning man. Why would he ask an unstable girl like Kenna to kill Dewan? Mycah is too smart to plot against you without informing himself."
-„He should know that Kenna and I are friends. He should know Kenna is not capable of such acts." Rebekah reasoned, thanking Tyrion in her mind for understanding what she was saying.
Dewan played with an apple from Tyrion's table, his face concentrated.
-„Tell me why Kenna should lie?" he asked and Bronn was the one answering. „Because she was told to. Obviously someone wants you all to believe Mycah is behind all this."
„That's because he is! This is nonsense." Branston grumbled.
-„Ser, what else can we do than wait and be careful? We will know more when Lord Mycah is finally here."
OoOoO
Rebekah swallowed and rushed her fingers through her hair. She kept biting her lip and looking around nervously.
„Kitten, don't show that bastard you're scared." Bronn whispered, and Rebekah nodded, her gaze fixed on the end of the street.
The carriage arrived, the Banners of House Kenning and House Waldorf flattering in the wind.
-„Lord Mycah Kenning, I am glad to welcome you in the capitol." Tyrion Lannister said with played enthusiasm.
-„The Hand of the King." The men who stepped in front of the small group was build largely but short. His head was bold, but a thin dark beard covered his chin and cheeks. Mycah was rather goodlooking for man in his age but his sight just made Rebekah panic. He looked quite intimidating, even when he smiled widely, showing his white teeth.
-„And my beautiful children. Dewan, good to see you." He hugged Dewan quickly, padding his shoulder. Dewan just smiled his usual arrogant smile.
-„My lovely Rebekah. King's Landing suits you, you look even more beautiful than ever. It has been such a long time I have seen you." He hugged her, and the touch made nauseate.
„My heart broke because of Roran's death. It made me forgive you your past mistakes, which I believe you have made many." Mycah's voice was calm, but Rebekah immediately felt threatened. Her instincts told her to hide or to run away. „Mycah. How generous of you." She choked, trying to regain her composure.
She was waiting for the moment he would show his true self again.
Hey guys! First of all: I'm so sorry I didn't post any chapters during the last months. I worked in Spain as an au-pair and everything was just so new and exciting I hadn't any time to write.
Now that I'm back you will get a few chapters in a row to make up for the long hiatus. :) I hope you guys forgive me and continue reading this story. I know this isn't my best chapter, but all those dialogues are important for the future storyline.
Have nice Christmas Holidays :)
xoxo & Liebe Grüße!
ps. I didn't figured out how to change the quotation marks, but I'm too impatient to wait any longer :D I'll change them as soon as I know how ;)
