Chapter Seventy-Six: Madoka?
Mai pov
"Again!"
"Yes, again, I think having them naked most of the time has become a thing for them."
"It's not our fault we didn't have nappies," I told Naru as I wrestle with Ayame to put on the diapers, she just wiggles her body, takes the tape out, and throws it across the living room. I blew away my bangs out of my sweaty forehead.
"Come on sweety, do it for Mommy, just put on your nappy, please," I begged her, but she shook her small head, fussing around, trying to get out of my grasp. Naru came up to me holding Gene in his arms, looking happy and giggling, as he held his father's shirt. I look up and gave him a grunt look at my son.
"It's funny for you Gene, but not for me, at least you like the nappies," I grumble, causing Gene to arch his small back laughing harder, filling the room with the baby's laughter. Naru chuckles, bending down, handing me Gene. I kiss my son's cheek as he snuggles against me.
"Let me have a try," Naru said, I nodded, watching him attend to our daughter.
"Now Aya, don't be fussy, Mommy wants you to be modest okay, can't have you be naked all day you know that. Now that we aren't back home." Naru said as he gets a new pair of nappies and began to place them on by picking her chubby legs up and placing the diaper under her, and continue to work his way, as Ayame, fussed, but didn't complain.
How in the word? He has some sort of magic with our kids, I can't even get Ayame to listen to me most of the time.
"Plus they are expensive," he said, as I began to rub my daughter's small hands.
"See your papa wants you to be modest as well," I smiled tenderly at her as she turns towards me.
"MA!" she bounces as she pouts her lips forward to kiss me. I giggle, wiggling myself to her and kiss her forehead, then place my cheek on her lips for her to kiss. She gives me a slobbering kiss.
"Hey, I was the one that place on the diaper, why don't I get a kiss?" Naru complains causing us to look at him.
"Oh Aya, daddy is jealous," I teased causing Aya to bounce her warms laughing hard, as Naru began to tickle her.
"I'm not jealous," he said as Gene pulls on my shirt to capture my attention. I lower my head and kiss him multiple times.
"I didn't forget about you either," I cause him to burst out laughing, as Naru smiled at the display, looking rather content. He leans down and kisses Ayame then at Gene.
"Since we ate and this time I didn't have to hunt, let's..." but his words are cut off, as I turned and gave him a soft kiss on his lips.
"You forgot your wife," I said, he smiled, and shook his head.
"I didn't, I had other plans with you," His blue eyes twinkle with a hint of teasing and flirting causing me to blush hard, but he licks his lips and clears his throat, to continue but a knock on the door caught our attention. I blinked, confused as Naru did the same.
"I'm not used to that, you know, it sounds strange," I admit, as Naru nods at me.
"Was it knocking for long?" he asks me. I shrug at him, as I stood up and headed for the door, and peeked through the small peephole.
"It's Lin," I said, opening the door. He looks at me, noticing a yellow letter-size envelope in his hands and a round cake. I arched a brow.
"Lin, morning, wow, a cake? Haven't seen those in a long time. Whose birthday?" I smiled, as I licked my lips as he rose the container of the cake, which was chocolate.
"Morning, I've been knocking for five minutes, and the cake is a welcome back cake, thought you will like it, got your favorite and Nolls. As well as congratulations on your marriage," he said to me. I nervously laugh when Naru stood up after making sure the babies are okay.
"Wow, thanks, Lin," I smiled, as Naru took the cake and gave him a thank you look. Lin nods.
"After ten years living by ourselves, that any noise outside the treehouse, we tend to ignore cause it's normally an animal or the weather."
"Or Ghost or the undead," I added, Naru nods in agreement.
"That too, so we kept by ourselves, we need to get used to being back to normal, I hope you understand," Naru explains as we let Lin enter the apartment. He simply nods at Naru.
Closing the door, he looks down to see Ayame and Gene playing with their toys.
Gene and Ayame stopped playing with their toys and look at Lin. Lin awkwardly wave still not believing this.
"I can't believe that Noll and Mai are parents, it's only been a day," he mumbles to himself as Naru who was picking up the mess as normal as possible to not show his powers, turn to look at him.
"Ma? Pa?" they both twins question, I went up to them and bend down.
"That's uncle Lin, remember we met him yesterday?" I said, but they lowered their heads, shook their heads, and continued to play.
"It must be strange to you, doesn't it, after all, we've been missing for ten minutes in your point of view," Naru said as he gesture him to sit after he manage to finish picking up.
"It does, it's just strange and those toys look ancient," He picks up as we gesture him to sit on my sofa.
"They were Hayato's toys, we found them in the treehouse, so we decided to give them to our twins to kill time, they seem to love it, so we brought them back with us, well Naru managed to salvage them," I told him as I stood next to Naru.
"Hayato? Oh, well I'm sure you'll explain it later, it's unique then. Well, I have brought the papers, you just need to sign them and I'll submit it, then you two will be legalized married by the law." He said to us. He hands it over to Naru and he looks at me.
"This will be our third wedding," I said seriously causing Lin to raise a brow.
"Third? You two had a second one?" he asks a bit shocked, I turned to look at him.
"Err, the first time was forced, the second one was a ceremony where I was in a wedding dress and Naru was so handsome dressed up in old classy clothes waiting for me. Gene walked me down towards him, on the beach, it was so romantic and it was from our consent of course, and this is the third, legalized it through the law," I said.
"Oh, Gene? Do you mean your son? I know you named him after your brother, Noll, but how can he... Wait don't tell me he came from the future or something?" He was a bit confused scratching his head.
"No, no no, the only time-traveling we had was between Mai and me, that's all, but actually, after our first marriage we weren't ready or did we consent to it, the second on we did, um, we didn't do anything for almost eight years. We were dealing with so much, it wasn't even funny, and Mai and I were afraid that she will get pregnant and could have a miscarriage. I tell you the truth back there was life and death Lin, life and death. As you remember our scars, and what we told you is not even half of it." Naru admits.
"So the only one that came to visit us from time to time is Eugene, Naru's big brother, he was the one that walked me down to give me away to his brother. It was very sweet." I admit, smiling from the memory.
"Oh, and you two time traveled? Okay? I somewhat get it, so how did you get married?" he asks confused, as Naru takes out the white papers from the envelope and quick reads through it.
"We found a folded paper in the middle of a field and read out loud I Do, Ayame, the ghost came and through God, married us, and the same thing the second time. We are blessed as husband and wife, oh, and the wedding rings just slipped into our fingers. Not sure how though." I look at my wedding ring and smiled once again, as Naru headed for the kitchen.
"That's how our marriage was in a nutshell Lin," Naru calls out, his eyes glued to the papers.
"There was more Lin, but yeah, that's how pretty much went, shocked beyond words, the first time around we weren't even sure that we loved each other. We were barely a year into the island." I admit.
"So you two are about ten years into marriage?" Lin said causing me to nod in agreement.
"Yes, it's not easy, but I don't regret anything," I smiled timidly, rubbing my arm, just like a shy teen, having my heart doing backflips. Naru lifts his gaze and smirks from the reaction.
"Mai!" Naru calls out, I turned to see him looking at me. I walked toward him as Lin followed us. He has the paper on top of the small table, with the cake on the side.
Naru already with a pen in his hand bends down and without hesitation signs his name at the bottom of the page.
"You can read it, and if you don't want to do this Mai because this is too rushed, I will understand, I just leave it here until you are ready." He said to me. I look down at the paper and read it over.
I'm already his, I shouldn't even think it twice, whatever happens, it will happen. He already signs his name without thinking it twice. That means he wants me and won't leave me. If we survived ten years in Black Lagoon, then this is nothing, I want to grow old with him, watch and raise our kids. Solve cases together, fight and make up. I want to continue to hold him, when he's down, to give him courage and give him hope as he does to me. I want to continue to kiss him and caress him. I want to continue to be next to him for everything. I simply can't live without him.
"Hey at least the pens aren't floating and forcing us to sign," I darkly joked, as I bend down holding the pen down and sign my name, which felt strange to write after so long.
I was officially married legally, not only in God's eyes but in society. I turned to face him, and wrap my arms around him, giving him a soft hug.
"My love, thank you for marrying me again, I love you, I love you so much," I told him, as our join heartbeat so widely from excitement.
"Me to Mai, me to," he simply said as he wraps his arms around me to give me a soft hug. I snuggle into his chest.
Lin just clears his throat, rubbing the back of his head, as we separated, and gave each other a fast kiss on the lips, and I turned to see Lin just staring at us strangely.
"Sorry, I'm not used to this, and I think this is the first time I see a kiss." he simply said as he reached for the papers, while I move back, so I don't have to brush against Lin.
"We've been married for ten years, it just normal for us, you know it's strange, Lin is older than us, yet we are married for a long time now, this is so odd," I simply said blushing making Naru clear his throat looking a bit shy.
"I'm still the same Lin, but different. I can't explain it, but with Mai, I'm more open, even though I don't like showing my affections towards anyone."
"I can see, now do you need anything else before submitting this?" He asks lifting the papers. Naru nods, looking over our kids to check on them.
"Did my mother or father call you?" he asks looking back at him, and Lin nods.
"They will call you soon, oh, here's your cellphone, you left it back in the van," he said as he reaches over the back of his pants, and take it out to hand it over. Naru takes it and looks at it.
"I forgot I had one," he said as he clicks it open to put on his password, I watch as he punches my birthday. I arched a brow looking at him.
"My birthday?" I question him, Naru's face turns slightly pink but clears his throat.
"Err, something easy to remember," he simply said as Lin rolled his eyes at him. I timidly smile, as I look at him, watching him focus on his phone.
Just like me? Doesn't want to admit it?
"The others want to have dinner with you two tomorrow night," Lin said as he made sure the papers are inside the yellow envelope.
"I don't think that's a good idea," I began, but Lin shook his head.
"If you go, I think it's a good thing, I will arrange it back in the office so it won't be out of your comfort zone, the twins can play in a playpen near you guys, so you don't have to have a panic attack."
"Really? Wait how do you know about the panic attack?" I asked surprised by this, he nods and adds.
"Oh, I forgot to tell you, Doctor Sarah gave me a call this morning and explain more or less your situation about your supposed 'kidnapping' since you gave consent to let me be your guardian. I didn't realize how bad your state of mind is and the fears you two developed, it's going to take a long time to heal. Well after going through all that, anyone will come back not the same. Even though I can't still wrap my head around this, I'm willing to help and try to keep the other in the dark until you two are ready to speak. I want to thank you as well for giving me a chance and trusting me, it must have been hard for you two."
"It's not like we can help it, we've only received harm from anyone who tried to get near us, for ten years and saw horrible things. Naru seriously loves you, Lin, you're like a big brother to him, he missed you so much, so if my husband trusts you blindly, then I trust his judgment. Thank you for understanding." I said seriously as Lin nods.
"Remember, I will set it up as much comfort for the both of you. I will find the best therapy to help you as well, but one more thing the doctor told me." he sounds a bit concerned.
"What?" Naru asks as we headed towards the door.
"The progress will be long, even though she thinks it's only been two years, but in reality, it's been ten years for you two and that's a long time of trauma, it's more than enough to break someone. Mai, Noll, it will take a long time for you two to gain trust and be able to separate just enough. She explained if you two separated for let's say ten minutes, it will bring harm to you two and your mental state and for your health as for now you two are each other rock and support. The mind games and the torture did a number on both. Eventually the other will tell that something is wrong between both of you, but I will continue to try to help you two as I said earlier. I want you two to heal and regain trust again." he said from the bottom of his heart.
"Thank you, Lin," I bow with Naru, as Lin bows slightly as well.
"I'll call you two when I submit the papers," he said. We both nodded, and watch him leave.
Now leaving us pondering about his proposal.

The afternoon rolled by, and to be honest it felt strange not going to the beach or our bathing post. I'm missing it terribly. Just being stuck in the apartment, trying to adjust, and getting our babies to adjust as well.
We played with them and try to make them take their afternoon nap, but they didn't want to, so we left them to play with their toys, as Naru went to take care of something in our room.
I watch as Naru fixed my room, pushing the mattress against the wall, which I was surprised this morning to see there. He told me he got it from his home, and that's all. I cross my arms, watching him leaning my head against the base of the door.
Ten years ago this use to be my room, which was yesterday morning, but then last night coming back it became our room. This is so strange and yet not at the same time.
"You know we can go back to your home, it's bigger, and do you think we have to continue to sleep on the floor?" I asked. He stops his movements and lifts his sweaty face, wiping it with his sleeve, he sat down on top of his legs.
"Do you want to?" he asks with a serious look, I shook my head, looking down shuffling my feet.
"I'm used to sleeping on the floor, sleeping on the bed last night and earlier yesterday felt strange, I'm not used to it, but I know we have to go back to normal you know that. Don't get me wrong it was comfortable, but just strange after so many years," I frowned.
Naru dusted off his hands, stood to move away from the bed, and slowly came up to me.
"I'm not used to sleeping on a regular bed either, even though it's comfortable," he said, as I rub my arm.
"True, at least the twins are happy," I smiled as I leaned back to look down the hallway to see them playing with each other.
"That's what counts, let's focus on how to adapt, it doesn't matter how we sleep Mai, no one will come and see us. They don't know what we went through," Naru said as I turned to see Naru getting closer to me like he was praying on his victim.
I felt chills down my spine, but in a good way, getting excited, and I couldn't help but smirk when suddenly his phone rang a simple old fashion ring tone. My smile drops as he blinks, and looks over my small brown dresser which had his phone on top.
"That sounds strange," Naru and I said at the same time, watching him going up to my dresser and taking it.
"Oh wait, it must be Lin, hurry to pick up!" I said a bit excited, feeling our heart race with anticipation. He does and places the call on speaker.
"Yes, Lin?" Naru spoke.
"It's official you two are legalized married, once again congrats," both of us stare at each other when Lin clears his throat, yet he hesitated for a second there.
"I call you tonight if you two are going to dinner tomorrow night," he said to us.
Why do I feel like he was about to say something else?
"Thank you, Lin, talk to you later," he hangs up and I stare at the phone.
"He wanted to tell us something didn't he?" I asked as Naru nodded, placing his cellphone back in his pocket.
"Maybe a new case could be tied from the dream of yours, but whatever happens, always call me okay?" he stated the obvious. I sigh, nodding my head.
"When we get there, we will get there," I simply said, not wanting to think of it, even last night I had that stupid nightmare again, but this time I was alone, so alone without anyone, but her scary laughter. It was scary.
Shaking my head, I look at my husband then it dawns on me and my eyes widen in shock.
"So it's official, nothing can separate us, nothing," I said a bit shocked and trying to progress this.
"Nothing," he assures me, our hearts became overwhelmed with pure excitement that I couldn't help and jump up and down with this pure happiness passed through my body, and I spun around, like a child.
Naru runs his hands through his face, with a smile on his lips.
"Yes, yes, so if anything, we are already married, I mean with papers this time and no one can stop us. Isn't that great news Naru," I gasped out breathless, only to stop as my breath caught since Naru somehow snaked his arm around my waist pulling me into his chest. I gasped looking up at him, but my smile didn't leave me.
He must have frozen me, to get this close to me, don't I know you, my love?
"Third time," he simply said, causing me to nod.
"Yes third time, and I don't hear the drums," I told him as we began to sway back and forth becoming a habit of ours, a small dance.
"Me either, maybe later?" he guessed, causing me to shrug.
"I hope so, but are you excited? As I am," he gave a fake questionable, but nods.
"You know I am," He said with his deep stare, just watching me, while I can feel his heart jump with pure joy. I move back grabbed his dark shirt, and pulled him forward and a playful look I gave him.
"So you want to kiss me?" I said in a teasing matter, but deep down aching to do so. He nods and leans down to do so, but I place my good fingers on his lips to stop him.
He arched a brow confused by this.
"Since I won the bet, you have to do anything I tell you, I haven't forgotten," I said. He frowns, looking at me, straightening up.
"Oh," he simply said as to say, 'you bring this up now?'
I tilt forward getting on my tiptoes, teasing him that I was bout to kiss him, but grunted in frustration when I pulled back.
"What is it that you want?" he asks, noticing a strain in his voice, feeling his body and his heart beginning to ache for me.
"Three things, The first one is a secret, and the second one is..." He arched a brow.
"Mai?"
"Strip..." I said seriously causing both of his brows to go up.
"Sure," he said without hesitation, beginning to remove the buttons of his shirt when he leans down and gently began to kiss the crook of my neck, but my face shot up red but couldn't help but gasp while I run my fingers through his hair feeling shivers run down my spine.
"Ne Naru, what... What are you doing?" I squealed a bit breathless, as he lifts his gaze and looks at me confused as I turn to look at him my face red as a tomato.
"Isn't it like you haven't seen me naked before, caress it, touched, mold your body with mine and kissed every inch of me and you know how much I love it since it comes from you and you alone. Why get so shy? You said strip, and I am willing for you." not sure if he was teasing me or not, but something in his tone felt proud, love, satisfied and longing causing my blood to boil from the memories.
Yet, I knew his words are true, as every memory not only when we made love, but every single moment we spent together, just hugging and holding each other, playing, or arguing, but he gave himself to me, the same way I do the same.
"Ne Naru, I'm too shy for that, I meant strip of the frosting from the cake that Lin brought us earlier, for the children, I'm scared that it can harm them. I want them to have their first taste of cake, but it has too much frosting." I told him. He stops his movements and slumps his shoulders fixing his shirt then head past me, heading down the hallway. I place my hand on the wall to compose myself then peeked out.
"Are you mad?" I called out, pushing myself to follow him.
"No," he simply said watching him enter the kitchen.
"Sure you're not," I said dryly as I entered right behind him, crossing my arms to watch him lean forward to grab the knife and began to scoop the frosting away from the cake.
He's upset, was he teasing me, or was he was going to do it? I shyly smiled, running my hand through my face. This man never is there a moment he won't tease me or make it serious.
I sneak around him and scoop up a frosting, ready to lick it, testing sweets for the first time in years, when suddenly Naru turns around making me splatter frosting all over his cheek. I froze looking at him wide eye. Then suddenly giggled at how startled he looked.
"Sorry, I didn't know you were going to turn," I said. Naru blinks, he was about to walk over the sink to wipe it out, when I took his arm and make him turn to face me.
"Mai?" He questions, I couldn't help but admire how cute he looks, looking a bit confused, but not annoyed, which I was glad about.
He's so adorable when he's confused, those he knows how cute he is?
"You look adorable Naru," I get closer, feeling our heart hammering, I get on my tiptoes, and without warning him, I began to lick the frosting out of his cheek, causing him to go still, swallowing hard, fisting his hands. `
"I'm sorry, I was only teasing you Naru, don't be upset, I'm just too shy," I admit to him. Naru turns to look at me, his eyes deeply with desire, as my breath caught. I felt trapped, unwilling to move, this time I couldn't even tease him. He slips his hand around my waist, pulling me closer.
"I'm not upset Mai, when you mentioned cake, I wanted some, it's all, I was only teasing you, I'm not good at stripping either, I probably do a horrible job at it," he admits, running his thumb across my cheek, as I place my hand on his, caressing it gently.
"Oh," I had no idea what to say, so he changes the subject.
"How was the frosting?" he asks, I smack my lips and nod with a smile.
"Good, not too sweet," I told him.
"Then let me have taste," he simply said in a deep seductive voice making my knees grow weak. I nodded, as he inched himself closer while our breath mingle. Half closing my eyes, waiting for his soft warm lips to claim mine, he suddenly pulls back, causing me to open my eyes, and give him a disappointed look.
Is this revenge? Didn't he say he wasn't upset?
"Ne Naru? Why did you pull back?" I question him, as I began to nuzzle and kiss his neck, feeling his warmth surround me. I felt his pulse quicken, as he closed his eyes, trying to resist me.
"D... Door," he forced out.
"Door? What door? We don't have neighbors," I said, as he looks down and rose his brows, when he saw my eyes, in the way I stare at him, aching for him as he swallows hard, feeling his heart hammering hard against his chest.
He leans down and kisses my cheek, and whispers in my ear causing me to shiver so delightfully. He seems a bit breathless as well, as he squeezed my waist, as though it was hard on him as well.
"Later Mai, someone at the door, remember we aren't back at the Black Lagoon," he reminds me, breaking my reality.
"Oh, oh.. right." I shook my head, as I took a step back, but then went rigid.
"Besides Lin, no one should visit us, today we just wanted to have us adjust with somewhat normal, then we haven't even talked about going to dinner tomorrow night or planned anything yet." I press my forehead on his shoulder as he rubs my back.
"I'll take care of it, just go and feed the twins," he said. I nodded, as I leaned forward and kiss his cheek and moan in protest. He swallowed hard, having a hard time pulling back
"I don't want to, I want to stay like this, you're warm," I said in protest as Naru chuckles.
"You think it's easy for me?" He simply said.
"Can we just ignore it," I told him while I began to caress his cheek with my nose while he shakes his head?
"Sadly we can't, I just hope it's a good damn reason for that door to be knocked," he mumbles, as he leans down and kisses my cheek, but dangerously close to my lips. I suddenly hiccuped as he pulls away rather slowly and smirks as he finally lets go. I smiled touching where he kissed me.
He sure is something, after so many years, how come we still act like this? Shouldn't we be tired of each other?
With that, he goes towards the door, and I broke a small piece of cake, and place it on a plate that I gather earlier. Going up to the twins, I sat on the floor.
"Hi there, look what Uncle Lin left behind. Mama and Papa want you to taste it. You two seem to like baby food, so why not some cake. Your father scrapped off the frosting, so it won't be too much." I gave each one of them a small peace and they took it to place it on their mouth. Gene spit it out, but Ayame began to eat it, and her eyes widen as though she discovered the greatest thing ever.
I giggled at her reaction as Gene wipes his small tongue with his small hands. I turned to grab a towel I have placed earlier to keep them clean and place Gene on my lap to clean him.
"Well we got a winner, don't worry Gene, you probably don't like chocolate, I'll let you try vanilla or strawberry," I told him, he nods as though he understood and went back to play with his train while Ayame came up to me and takes another piece from the plate. I rub her small head when I heard a woman's voice.
"Noll? What are you doing in Mai's apartment?" My blood ran cold, as I turned to see Madoka entering the room with a red suitcase that has wheels at hand.
Naru looks stunned and pale from this.
"Err, what are you doing here?" Naru asks as he shuts the door watching Madoka enter our living room, looking back at him.
"I took the first flight last night, and just got here about an hour ago. I'm exhausted, I came on behalf of your mother and father. They are worried since you won't call them. So I thought I would come and stay the night with Mai, and go to your office to talk to you. Didn't expect you to find you here. Is there something going on here?" she asks, looking my way. She rose a brow startled by the sudden look.
I'm sitting on the ground with my kids, with their toys scattered around, and a box of diapers in the corner of the room.
Naru's phone suddenly rings catching us by surprise, so Naru takes it out and looks over the caller, and picks it up.
"Hello?" He asks walking towards the window to look at the floor, as Madoka leaves her suitcase in the middle of the room and comes up to me.
"Mai, nice to see you again, I'm sorry that I came unannounced, but if I didn't come, his parents will make a big deal out of it"
I inch myself back, grabbing my babies and placing them on top of my lap, as I nervously shook my head.
She won't harm me, she won't harm me. Naru, please come, I know she won't harm. I tried to tell myself, as memories of that woman from the mirror harming me, or the ghosts burning me burnt into my memory. I lift my legs, holding my twins closer to me.
"Nice to see... You to Madoka, I missed you as well. Lin didn't say anything," I said, as I titled to the side to see Naru getting off from his cellphone and walking towards us. I breathed out in relief as Naru went around Madoka, to face her.
She won't hurt me or Naru, she's not after Naru. Right. I held a whimper, catching Naru's attention. He bends down to my level and with his eyes told me that everything will be okay. I nodded shyly and he turns to face Madoka.
"I can book you a hotel, there's no problem, but you can't stay here tonight," he tells her, Madoka crosses her arms, arching a brow.
"Lin told me the same, but I don't see the problem, while you were in England, I've stayed with Mai before, as a slumber party. Right Mai you don't mind?" she questions me. Naru turns towards me, his eyes tell me to relax, he's here whatever direction I would make.
"I... I don't mind, but... Naru is sleeping over as well, my apartment only has one bedroom," I said, not having the heart to throw Madoka out.
Madoka squints her eyes, feeling a bit lost in this.
"Why is Naru sleeping over?" she asks a bit confused. Naru just turns to look at her and arched a brow.
"It's a long story, it has to do what happened yesterday, but we aren't ready to say at the moment," he plainly said.
"Does it consist of you staying with her?" Madoka asked him looking rather suspicious.
"It does, if Mai said it's okay, then you'll sleep in the bedroom with the twins, and Mai, I'll sleep in the living room," Naru said causing my eyes to shoot up.
No, I can't sleep without him next to me.
"Hmm, last time we spend it in the living room, watching movies and talking, fine then if it's alright with Mai," Madoka stated as I place my kids down and stood up and nervously laugh and fist my hand to fake a cough out.
"Freeze her," Naru simply waves his hand and freezes Madoka in the spot, and turns to me.
"Who was that on the phone?" I asked him.
"Lin, he wanted to tell us about Madoka, he told me that Madoka told him that she's coming last night,"
"Then why didn't he warn us?" I asked as Naru frowns at us.
"She threaten to not say anything, but he did warn her to not stay the night, but she told him that is Mai's decision to do so, so he was hesitant to tell me. He apologies." I blinked not believing this.
"He could have told us," I felt disappointed by this, but Naru shook his head.
"Sometimes when Madoka has an upper hand, she becomes a bit scary, not even Lin has the power to say no to her. Please understand, I've been there," he said as he rubs my arm.
"I can tell, you grow pale every time she comes or hears her name. Yet, Let her sleep in our room?" I question him.
"We can just tell her that we are married," he said as simply as that, as I press my forehead against his chest, feeling his hand wrap around my arm.
"Naru, I don't want to explain it again, I'm exhausted and Lin barely believes us. I want to tell everyone at the same time to get it over with." I told him. Naru places his hand on my chin and lifts it.
"Alright, then trust me Mai okay? Just endure for a bit and trust me," he said, I nodded, as he leans down and kiss my forehead.

After dinner and some chit-chat, which required me to stay with Naru most of the time, trying to have a little skinship with Madoka. It was hard for me to get close to her, which she took notice of, but didn't comment on it. Naru on the other hand was more protective over me, and a bit stiff when Madoka tried to get near him as well.
Now I'm here with her alone, and it's taking every ounce of me to not break, luckily Naru would come from time to time to check on me, which Madkoa felt a bit strange.
"It must have been scary," Madoka began as we stay in my room, and the twins is with Naru in the living room. My heart is racing with nervousness and fear.
"What was?" played it cool as much as I could, watching her climb into my bed, since I offered it to her after I insisted on it.
"When you fell overboard. Shallow cold waters, and such, then having Noll to go after you, it must be something right?" she asks as she turns her body towards me. I was standing up, folding my clothes for tomorrow and the twins. I turned to face her.
"It was something alright," I told her, as I felt Naru's heart beating calmly, which calmed my nerves.
He's right in the living room, calm down Mai, calm down. I told myself, as I squeeze my hand.
"I was wondering since Lin won't tell me, I'm sure he knows something but Noll doesn't allow him to tell anyone, but I can ask you, who are those adorable babies? Lin told me that they came with you two after being rescued," she asks a bit curious.
I couldn't help but smile, placing the clothes I held up to my chest.
"They are our little angels," I added in my head, 'That Naru gave me from our love.'
"Our little angels? How so?" she questions.
"Naru and I will explain it soon, just give us some time, okay, Madoka, please don't question anything at the moment, everything has an explanation and why Naru is staying with me. No is not what you think, it does have an explanation okay."
"What do you think I'm thinking of?" she rose a brow as I felt my face turn so hot, she giggles, pressing her hand against her cheek, leaning against it.
"You look like a tomato, is something is going on between you and Noll? Wait Noll just got back from England, and this was the first big case you guys had since he came back. Noll is too shy and doesn't know much about dating, so you as well." she said, I breathed out in relief.
"Well, either way, I still ship you two, I wouldn't have anyone else to be Noll's girlfriend, you're a catch Mai, and I am truly convinced that Noll needs someone like you after going through that trauma with his big brother. You are like his sun in his dark world," she admits.
I can feel my heart just become overwhelmed with so much tenderness and warmth from hearing this from her, as I felt Naru's heart beginning to race. I press my hand on my chest, loving the fact that I can feel his heart react like this.
Like he's mine. Can he hear our conversation? Sneaky man.
I timidly smile as she suddenly sat up, catching me by surprise. I flinched a bit, but, breathed out.
Relax Mai she won't hurt me.
"Do you want to hear a secret?" she suddenly said, looking sheepish, as I arched a brow.
Secret?
"Secret?" I question she nods while lowering her voice.
"It's about Noll."

Madoka fell asleep thirty minutes after we shut the light off, I lay on the floor staring at the dark ceiling and I couldn't sleep at all, even if I toss or turn I couldn't sleep at all.
"See, you two aren't meant to be, I will make sure of that," I heard a familiar voice as a cold chill ran down my spine, and my eyes widen when I felt clammy hands begging to take hold of my throat as though it wants to choke me. I gasped out, opening my eyes sweating hard, turning to hold Naru, but he wasn't with me.
"Naru?" I called out but heard a slight snore that didn't belong to him, I turned to see Madoka's arm hanging from the side of the bed, deeply asleep. I couldn't do it, as I stood up, tiptoed away from my bedroom, slowly opened the door and then closed it, and walked out trying to not make any noise.
As I made it down the hallway, I bumped into someone, I rub my nose and squint my eyes to get a good look, only to see Naru.
"Mai, what happened?" he whispered to not wake up anyone, I felt my heart with pure relief as I rose my arms and wrap them around my husband's shoulders, and felt his arms around my waist to pick me up. I bury my face on the crook of his neck, as I let my tears run down.
He turns around and takes me to the living room as I held him tightly.
He sits on the couch and causes me to sit on his lap and lets me just cry, while he rubs my back, whispering comforting words. I wipe my eyes and snuggle up to him.
"I was going to get you, but I felt your heart unease, did you get a nightmare?" he asks me.
"I don't know, the woman came and tried to choke me," I told him, he went rigid at my words.
"We need to get to the bottom of this," he murmurs under his breath, feeling him
After a few minutes, I lift my gaze to look at him, the only light source is the television playing in the background, as I turned to see our babies sleeping on the mattress that Naru had to move once again.
"How did you get them to sleep?" I question. Naru leans forward and began to kiss my cheek catching me by surprise.
"I simply told them Mommy is taking a long shower that you'll be out soon it took some time but they finally fell asleep. You know how much Gene likes when you pat his back to fall asleep, so I had to do it, which wasn't the same, to be honest, he was fussy," he said as I turned to look at him.
"Thank you, I shouldn't have accepted, but I felt bad and..."
"I understand Mai don't worry, now let's sleep and get up earlier than her before she catches us together," he said as we move to get on the mattress, a bit far from the babies so we won't harm them. Naru wraps his arms around me, and I snuggle into him, feeling safe and protected. He began to caress my hair.
"Do we go to the dinner tomorrow night?" I let asked as I let out a yawn.
"Do you want to?" he asks me, as I look up at him.
"I do miss them, but if you're next to me, I think I can do it. I can't be alone with them, I keep thinking that someone will harm me. IT was so hard with Madoka, I thought I was going to faint." I admit.
"I know, I'm sorry you had to go through that. We don't have to do it, we can reschedule."
"No it's fine Naru, I want to because ten years is a long time since we last saw them, Lin will help us."
"Alright then," he said to me closing his eyes, as I smiled.
"Naru,"
"Hmm?"
"Madoka told me a secret of yours," I felt him grow still and opens his eyes to look at me.
"What is it?" he asks as I finally smiled and kiss him under his chin.
"Who would have thought that the great Shibuya Kazuya would have a picture of me from two Chritsmas ago," I told him, his face shot up, and clears his throat.
"Sleep Mai," he simply said as my eyes softens.
"Naru,"
"You know I'm trying to sleep," he avoids me, but still looks down at me and gave me a soft look, even though his face is red.
"I never realized,"
"What?" he rose a brow as I wiggle up and kiss his forehead.
"That you care about me deeply, Madoka told me that you would make excuses to call the others just to ask about me," he suddenly spun me around so I can lay flat on the mattress and hover above me. I blinked a bit shocked by this.
"Ne Naru? My love, not now, we ha have a guest." I told him but I didn't push him away. Naru lowers himself down and ignored me capturing my lips, catching my breath, but gives me a deep longing, intimate kiss almost sending me to heaven.
I closed my eyes and began to kiss him back with the same passion, feeling alive and feeling our hearts beat with pure love.
He lifts my body towards his, molding it as much as possible, but with great respect, and then gently pulls away, breathing hard.
"Mai,"
"Naru," I gasped out, as I run my fingers through his face, and smiled at him.
"What was that about?" I asked as he smiles at me back and leans down, cuddling into my chest as he grabs my hand and began to play with my fingers, tracing my scar. Then pulls it closer to him and gave it a small kiss.
His eyes are at peace and content. Yet the next words made my whole world stop as he lifts himself and bends down to capture my lips as fresh tears run down my eyes, as I cup his cheeks, kissing him with all the love I have for him.
His words echoed deeply in my heart, and it's for the rest of my life.
"You're the love of my life Mai, even before I understood it and I don't regret it at all."
