Chapter 78: Exhausted
Mai Pov
I gasped out in pain when that woman stabbed me, and before I could blackout or cry, I suddenly found myself in a hallway, no longer bound or hurt, but I was shaking horribly. I look around to see a long dingy hallway barely any light at all. I had to move towards the wall for support as my legs felt like jelly.
What happened? Wasn't I stabbed? I rubbed my aching chest, when suddenly I felt someone behind me, placing a cold hand on my shoulder. I turned to fright only to see Naru giving me a sad look.
"Naru…. No, wait, Gene!" I corrected myself. Gene nods again, no words pass his lips, and pointed down the hallway. I shook my head, not wanting to see at all.
"I just want to wake up," I begged him. He shook his head, looking a bit remorseful, and kept pointing so I can see. I sigh in defeat and turned and my eyes made contact with a woman banging on the door.
"Come out! I know you're in there."
She kept banging on the door, her voice filled with anguish and hurt, but I took notice she was holding a knife in her right hand. I clenched my hands, remembering what just took place, but then I when I stabbed Naru so long ago.
The door suddenly opened, and another woman came out, and before the other woman, which I couldn't see her features besides long dark hair say something, the woman rose the knife and I turned around to cover my eyes, but Gene wasn't there any longer. My heart thumped in fear.
"Gene?" I called out, now as those of reality crashed back to me. That I have to go back to this.
Then horror reaches down my spine when I felt that woman again behind me.
"See, you don't deserve him!" my eyes widen, and everything went dark.
…
…
…..
I snap my eyes open to see a white ceiling. I move my hand and rub my sleepy eyes, as my body shook.
So there's more, I have to tell Naru. He won't be happy.
I turned my body to the right.
"My love," I called out, but instead of seeing my husband, I saw the last person I expected, Lin looking over me. I blinked confused by this.
"Lin?" I squint my eyes, as I slowly sat up, raising my legs, only to notice that I wasn't in the treehouse, but in an office.
"This isn't our treehouse oh no, am I dreaming?" I move my good hand and pinched my cheek, only to wince in pain. No, I am fully awake and I turned to look at Lin. He was standing texting on his phone, then lowers it.
"L...Lin? Where My Naru? Where are my children?" I question him.
"Um…" He hesitated, as panic rose in me.
"Lin!" I called out moving the blanket away from me, not caring about my sudden dizzy spell. Without a second thought, I touch the cold floor and made my way toward the brown door. Upon opening it, the commotion in the lobby went silent as soon as I step out, it was the gang, but I couldn't spot my husband or my kids.
"Mai, you're awake," Ayako said, but hesitated on moving as I kept looking around.
My heart has been already in pure fear, and I can still feel Naru's heartbeat.
"Where's Naru?" I question as I leaned against the wall, feeling very weak at the moment, but then my memories from earlier came back to me and my eyes narrowed and I rubbed my arm where Naru's mother held.
Right his mom forbids us to be together. No, no… Have I done something wrong? Did I hurt Naru for her to forbid us?
I clenched my chest.
"Mai!" Lin calls out coming up to me, but took a step back to not touch me. I turned my gaze and look at Lin.
"Please don't let me repeat myself," I gasped out.
"Mai calm down, they are perfectly fine, they are with Naru, and…"
"But I can't see them, did his mother take him, please Lin tell me," I begged him on the verge of tears, but then I huddle myself as I felt a panic attack reaching me.
I can call him to me.
"Naru, come to me, my love!" I whispered, closing my eyes.
"Sorry, I had to take care of Gene, he couldn't stop crying, but finally did," I heard in front of me. I lift my gaze to see Naru walking toward me in a hurry matter.
Our eyes locked, and I can see relief washing over him, as our joined hearts hammered hard.
My love, tell me this is a nightmare.
"NARU!" I called out, as somehow ended up having strength seeing my husband. Without a second thought, I ran to him and he opens his arms, and I jump him, wrapping my legs around his waist, causing him to huff. He looks up at me.
"I had a nightmare, that your mother didn't want us to be together, did I do something wrong? Did I hurt you? Am I not protecting you? Naru?" I question him feeling so scared, as I stare at his blue eyes, and began to caress him.
"No Mai, she has a lot of explaining, you didn't do anything wrong. I haven't explained anything just yet, you had a panic attack and fainted. I was with you for an hour, but Gene burst out crying so I had to take care of him. I'm sorry, didn't mean to leave you alone, so I asked Lin to watch over you until then.
"So they are okay?" I asked.
"Yes they are, see," Naru turns his body to show them in the playpen looking at me.
"Hi!" I waved at them, causing them to smile, then I turned to look at my husband.
"I feel like we are living in a nightmare, wasn't it enough what we went through?" asked him. Naru shook his head.
"Not, let's just face this together, we've been doing it for ten years, so this is another test okay? So be my brave girl again." I stare at him, and nodded at him, knowing that we were in our small world, that just staring at each other, we knew that we won't let anything separate us.
"Let go of my son!" I heard, we turned to see Luella rushing towards us, but Naru pushed back and shook his head, holding me tighter.
"No, he's my husband. Please, we went through so much."
"Okay, enough of the drama, I'm sorry, but can someone please explain, how are Naru and Mai married? What is the Black Lagoon and who are those children?" Madoka demands looking at us.
"Fine, those ten minutes two days ago, where Mai and I went into the water, was not ten minutes to us." Naru began.
Now everyone gathers around to listen to us. I look at my husband and bend down to kiss his cheek, as everyone just stares without belief.
"My love, put me down, I'm okay," I whispered, he nods and gently put me down and wrap his arm around me.
"Huh? Not ten minutes for you two? Naru was just about to use his Pk on us just because you fainted. I have never seen you two react like that for a small separation. Now explain it to us." Miss. Hara spoke this time around.
"You did?" I question Naru, and he nods, but that's all.
Naru wraps his arm around me and helps me walk towards the couch and sits me next to our kids. I glance over them.
"Hi there, my little ones, I'm sorry you had to witness this, but Mama and Papa have some explaining to do okay." I watch as Naru picks up Gene and Ayame and place them on my lap. I kiss the back of their small heads.
Then Naru's mother shakes her head walking up to us. I move closer to Naru as he crosses his arms looking deadly serious at his mother.
"If it's done, stay away from my son. Whatever you two have, I disapprove," her words are cold and sharp. My heart pierced into two, as I turned to look at my husband, but he kept staring at her.
Naru isn't playing games
I felt very light-headed as the memory of her pulling me away from Naru played in my head.
"Luella, please explain to us, what's going on?" Martin asks gently, trying to make heads or tails of this situation.
"Why do you want me to stay away from him?" my voice is mellow.
"Don't you know, he dies, he always dies. I'm not losing another son!" She moves to grasp my arm, but Naru caught her hand, and death glared at her, but removes his hand, noticing it was shaking. I move my hand and grasp it. He calms down, as he grabs my hand back.
"Don't touch her Mother. Explain. How come you kept it from me." Naru's voice is thick and low.. Sudden a cry is echoed, as the babies began to cry hard.
"Not again!" Naru murmurs while he takes Gene out of my lap.
I bounce Ayame on my arms, trying to ease her.
"It's a complicated story, we told you earlier... Mrs. Davis, please answer us, why is the reason you want me away from Naru? Why did you keep it from him?" I begged.
Naru moves closer to me, holding Gene, trying to calm him down as well.
"Your grandmother explained to me the story. I accepted the fact that he's your guardian, and that you two eventually find Black Lagoon, but not now. You two are still young. I can't lose my son. From what I heard, every single life, he keeps dying." She breathes out. I stare at her with wide eyes, but then again I understand her.
I pressed my hand on my chest.
I understand, and now that I'm a mother myself, the mere thought of losing one of them kills me, just like Alice.
"We understand Mother," Naru said in a low tone while his eyes are sad as I turned to look at him. He kept looking at his mother, but rub his thumb across my fingers.
"So she asked you to keep it a secret?" he questions her.
"Yes... At first, I didn't believe her, but when I introduced you to Noll. I notice a glowing light surrounding you two. Verifying everything your grandmother told me was the truth. She begged me to not say anything because it's your destiny. So please stay away from him!" she begs me.
I stare at her with wide eyes turning to face Naru. Naru sigh shaking his head.
"It won't happen." Naru suddenly spoke, but he was still on edge.
"What makes you guarantee me that? She always has been your end no matter…" but Naru interrupts her.
"All those deaths have nothing to do with her, I simply choose her to drag her to my empty life. I simply was cursed by my own hands. Mother, I promise you, she's not the cause of my death." he told her directly.
He turns towards the other.
"Mother, father, and everyone, we have a story to tell, please have a seat," Naru instructs. Everyone stares at each other but nodded either way. Naru's parents kept their composure and sat next to Lin.
Gene and Ayame finally calmed down. We both look at each other, trying to explain this to them. We both took a breath and I intertwined my fingers with his. Everyone notices this.
"Finally," Bou-san spat throwing his hands up.
"This has to be some hell of a story.." Yasuhara chanted, crossing his arms with a raised brow.
"Black Lagoon, and ten years, guardian, Mai causing your death? What does that mean?" John asks breaking the silence. I breathed out, as I turned to face Naru.
"Well, everyone here, two days ago... I mean... Okay, Yes, two days ago, for everyone it has been ten minutes, right? We were heading for a case, and I had an accident where I went to save Mai and we ended up plummeting to the cold waters," Everyone nods in agreement.
"Yes, what does that have to do with anything?" everyone nodded as Ayako asked us. I sigh, turning my gaze towards Naru's parents.
"I took good care of him, Mrs. Davis, you shouldn't worry because I became his guardian." Mrs. Davis's eyes widen.
"You became his guardian?" I nodded at her question, turning to face everyone. Still lost. I breathed out and began.
"After we fell into the water, Naru rescued me, only to lose consciousness. A ship came by and saved us. In doing, we had no idea what happened after that, and we ended up on an island." I edited the part where we were the ones that transported our past selves, trying to make it as easy as possible.
Looking at everyone, to see their reaction, they all seem to progress my
words.
"On the island, we awoke to find us stranded," Naru added as he looks at Gene. His eyes soften a little as Gene began to play with his fingers.
"Okay?" Masako whispers, looking at Naru and then at me.
"The island is named The Black Lagoon which became our new home and unfortunate and horrid events started to happen to us. We have met, ghosts, curses, and supernatural events that almost cost us our lives multiple times," I shivered at the memories. No one said anything.
"We survive by a treehouse we found, and Ayame help..."
"Ayame? The baby?" Yasuhara asked, confused. Naru and I shook her head.
"No, my great-great-grandmother.," I whispered, dawning on me.
"Grandmother? Okay, I'm lost." Madoka sighs, running her fingers through her long hair. I turned to face Naru.
"Oi, if Hayato is my great-grandmother, that means Ayame is my great-great-grandmother, slash mother? Does that make sense?" Naru blankly blinks at me.
"Suppose so," he whispers. I frowned, looking at Ayame as she began to play with my shirt, I had to pull her small hand away and began to rub her tummy causing her to burst out laughing. Naru turns to look at his daughter and smiles tenderly.
"Excuse us?" Bou-san scratched his head confused as we lift our gaze.
"Sorry, I tend to forget about others now since I normally talk to Naru all day.." I whisper, with a blush on my cheeks.
"Continue." Martin sways his hand to gesture us to continue.
"We were surrounded by bad ghosts which wanted to kill us, demon-like ghosts and creatures of the island. Fell out of a bridge, from fire, the undead, and so on. Short story long, Naru and I manage to let them pass to the other side. Plus, there's more, but we will explain that later." I explained, getting nervous. Naru tightens his grip on my hand.
Naru nods in agreement.
"All that in a short time of ten minutes?" Bou-san asks surprised. This is the moment of truth... I gulped, as I turned a little my body.
"No, for you all, it's been ten minutes, but for us. It's been ten long years.." there was silence. If a pin would drop this instinct, anyone could have heard it. Yeah, that bad.
…
…
…
"Ten years? That makes no sense, it's only been ten minutes.." Madoka pushed. Naru and I nodded in agreement.
"How do you think we felt when Lin told us it was only ten minutes. We have been stranded for ten years... Each day felt like we had no hope in the first few years, until we became accustomed to the island, turning it into our home. Now being here feels strange and scary for the four of us," I told them.
Lin just listens in, as he crosses his arms, leaning against Mai's desk.
"Well, you two still look young. What proof you have that you two have been stuck on an island, this could have been a figment of your imaginations, do with the drowning or something." Yasuhara proclaims.
This time Naru cleared his throat and turned to face everyone.
"Proof, you want proof, okay.,. Father, mother, everyone... I want to introduce you to Mai, not as my assistant, but as my wife, we have been married for ten years." For a reason, I felt his tone with pride, making my heart warm up. I squeeze his hand, he did the same. He kept his eyes sharp.
"And everyone, I want to introduce you to my husband, Oliver Davis," I said with pride and love, as Naru and I turn to look at each other.
That felt good, not denying each other in front of the others.
We both said to each other.
Okay, you know that awkward feeling we had in the past, it came back. It came back.
..
…
..
"You were being serious? She's your wife? and... and he's your husband?" Ayako stood as though reality slapped her or something.
"Yes, Naru and I have been married for nine years actually but this summer, it will be our tenth year," I confirm once again.
"So let's get this straight, you two have been stuck on an island and got married, how? There's no one on the island to marry you two and this sounds like straight out of a Sci-FY romance book." Madoka was the one that spoke out since she stood next to Naru's mother.
"Well an angel married us which God sent, plus Naru and I are tied for centuries." Okay, that moment where an epic music show in the background would be greatly appreciated since I feel like this is a drama of some sort.
Everyone is dumbfounded by the news, that they weren't even blinking.
"Nope, not believing this story.,. Show us the proof," Yasuhara was in denial as he began to clean his glasses with a small blue towel and place it back on.
"Actually, they are telling the truth, and for the record, I got to know the same day, I'm still trying to wrap my head around it." Lin intervenes, and then Naru's mother.
"What they say is true. I heard of Black Lagoon, but I thought it would be a little different, from how Mai's grandmother explained it, not ten years. It's hard to swallow." Naru's mother whispers, noticing how pale she became.
"We have proof.." Naru lifts our hands and points at our wedding rings.
"This used to be Ayame and John's wedding rings. Mai found it in our bathing post, a few months later, and because of this, we became wedded. As well..." He paused, as he turns his body to show Gene, that he has his head buried on Naru's chest… I did the same to Ayame.
"Let us introduce you to the two newest members of the family, our children. Ayame and Eugene Shibuya Davis, both are our children, they were born last year, they are one year old and four months, even though they don't look like it, " I told them all.
..
..
..
"The twins?" This time Masako was the one to speak in pure shock. The whole room was filled with a heavy atmosphere, that it could be cut with a knife. I suddenly felt nervous, as I move closer to Naru.
"Anyone, please say anything." I have finally cracked.
Luella lifts her gaze, as well as for her husband.
"Eugene?" she asked in shock. I smiled tenderly. Letting Ayame's warmth fill me, as well as for Naru and Gene.
"Yes. Naru named Ayame, and I named Eugene. I wanted to honor Gene. Gene was happy to hear it when he came to visit us.." I told her.
"Married and with kids." I heard on my side... I turned, to make eye contact with Masako… Her eyes say everything, she's in shock and worst of all in pain, and a twig of pain passes my heart.
"What the hell, I was just teasing earlier about mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, not knock her up," Yasuhara whisper with a shake of his head, as Bou-san flew up.
"Wait, let us get this straight, you want us to believe that you two went into an island called, err, The Black lagoon and you spend ten years on it, as for us it has been ten minutes... In doing so, you fought ghosts and such and got married, and you got my little girl knocked up?" Bou-san looks furious at Naru.
I rose a brow at the word…
"Don't be mad at Naru, Bou-san, it was in our both consent since we are a married couple, it's normal." I hissed a little... Naru sighs shaking his head.
"I have a headache.." he whispers. I move my good hand and rub his arm, he grabs my hand and held it tight.
"Do you want us to believe that?"
"Yes, is the truth.." I felt Naru's heart racing with anxiety causing me to shake a bit.
Suddenly Luella walks up to us. Her eyes scanned mine.
"Guarantee me that everything you said is the truth.." I nodded at her.
"I give you my word. Naru isn't going anywhere. We share one soul, in a matter of speaking. I can't live without him. I love your son to the point that I'll die for him. Well, I did that in the past.." I whispered to her.
His mom moves her gaze towards our twins. Noticed her eyes tighten, but ignored my words.
"So they are our grandchildren?" I nodded, noticing moisture pass her eyes as they soften.
"I can't risk it, Mai, I'm sorry, I still disapprove of this. I want you to stay away from my son, we can talk about the babies tomorrow and their future.." her words cut right through me. My body suddenly felt light and hot. I shook it off, as I tighten my hold on Naru's hand.
"What do you mean?" I swallowed hard, as her eyes becomes serious and cold.
"I mean that we'll see who can get custody of the children since you two aren't legally married. I seriously don't want you with my son."
My heart just tears as Naru stood up and looks straight at his mother anger pulsing in his veins as his heartbeat wildly.
"They are our children and she's my wife, and you have no say mother. If you touch either one, you will lose another son and that's not a threat."
Naru pov
My mother's words echo in my head like an annoying scratched record or something.
Why? Why is everyone against us? I need to do something to stop this. I won't allow it and having our children in the middle of this? I can't even…
Now sitting in front of my old desk, looking at my old papers and my laptop, a strange sensation passes over me, and this has no meaning to me any longer.
Mai came up to me, and I glance up. I took notice of how pale she became, and dark circles seem to appear under her eyes. Her lips are chapped, and the healthy glow around her cheeks is gone. My heart thumps oddly.
"They fell asleep again. They seem so lost in the new environment and with people, it's killing me. Naru, is she going to separate our kids from us?" Mai bites her lower lip, as I move back in my chair and took her hand.
She gasps as I pulled her down on my lap, and wrap my arms around her.
"No, she has no right, we are legally married and those kids are ours, not hers. So legally she can't do anything." I assured her. She lifts her liftless eyes to me and stares at me.
"But she doesn't know that besides Lin," I suddenly smirked at her, as I brushed her hair behind her ear.
"That's our ace card," I winked at her causing her to blush, nodding at me.
Poor Mai she's so weak to even argue about this, but at least she's a bit better.
"Thank God for Lin for bringing us those marriage papers. Then why is everyone against us? What did we do? Can't we just be at peace and love each other as we've been doing for the last year of peace we had? We don't harm anyone. We just live in our world loving each other like crazy it's not perfect, but it's our happiness."
"I don't know Mai why everyone wants to separate us, but our love is too strong, even we are scared of death. Also, I'm tired, and the others need time to recollect everything we told them." Mai nods, as I bury my face in her chest, closing my eyes.
I felt her arms wrap around me.
"When your mom told me to stay away from you and we have to share custody, it killed me. We have been through hell to be together, I don't want to separate from you or share our babies, I want to raise them with you. Even if it's been ten minutes, those ten minutes in this time zone have been the best for us. I can't, and what about our babies. They are mine and yours, and they are a piece of you, a present you gave me. I love them too much to give them away. I'm scared." She lays her cheek on the top of my head, hearing her sniffle.
"You won't lose them. They will always be under your care Mai. You won't lose me either." I reply with the truth.
"Let's go back Naru, It's nearly night time and it's been a long, long day." She sounded exhausted. I lifted my gaze, as she lazily blinks at me without much energy.
"Alright we'll head home," I assured her.
"Let's go back to the black lagoon, I miss it terribly," Mai pleaded to me, as she nuzzle her nose against my cheek.
"Me too," I closed my eyes, as the memories play in my head, knowing right now that our past selves are passing through what we went through. I wish I was there right now with my wife.
Suddenly the door squeaked open, Mai didn't move, I look down to see her already sleeping on my chest. My heart warms, as I lift my gaze to see Lin walk in. His eyes landed on my children, (Who they slept in the playpen.) then on us.
"Yes?" I asked him. He closed the door behind him but was stopped when my father and Madoka came behind. Now closing the door behind them, all three come up to my desk and sat down on the chairs.
Their eyes landed on the display, and for a reason, I felt uncomfortable with their stares. I couldn't wake Mai either so I place my mask on.
"If you continue to stare, please watch a drama for that. I'm not here to entertain anyone, it was enough earlier." I hissed. All of them shook their heads.
"Sorry, Noll is hard to wrap our minds around this. Seeing you with a wife and kids. I never thought you'll be the type, and the whole island story." Madoka explains herself.
"Trust me, coming back and only to discover it was only ten minutes, after all the thoughts that ran in our minds, as time went on for us, of how you guys change and how much work we missed. We went through stress and such." I answered her.
Mai groans in her sleep.
"Naru, check on the twins," she whispers, holding me tighter.
"They are still sleeping," I assured her, kissing the top of her head. She relaxes a bit.
"My pirate is a good man," she mumbles causing me to chuckle.
"I hope so," I simply said looking up at my family they look a bit confused.
"Everything we told you all is the truth. One thing I will not leave my wife and father, I'm sorry, but mother will have no say on our children. We don't ask for anything, but to let us be. We have spent ten years alone and we manage fine with anyone helping us. Besides Ayame. We only told you the truth." I sternly said. My father frowns at me, and crosses his arms, trying to think hard about what to say.
"Answer me this, why did you two react like that earlier?" he asks me.
"While being in the Black Lagoon, everyone and everything tried to kill us, so we depended on each other Father, and we became accustomed to it. The doctor told us that Mai developed PTSD, and apparently, I have the same."
"Oh no," Madoka said as I nodded.
"I'm the only one that can touch Mai without her freaking out and the same with her with me. There's more to tell, but Mother doesn't let us explain." I lowered my gaze.
My father leans forward, placing his arm on top of my desk.
"First of all, I now understand and I'm so sorry for the both of you, I truly am. Oliver, your mother is afraid, don't take it to heart, I don't wish you to be unhappy. As a father, I want my son to be happy, but Noll, have you thought of how much responsibility this is, I mean Mai is not even illegal age." I took a big breath, turning my gaze at him.
"She may still be nineteen here, but she's not, she's twenty-nine and I'm a thirty-year-old man, we know about our responsibilities. Mother and you taught me to never run away from them. I married at the age of twenty; for me, that is ten years ago, as, for you guys, only ten minutes, and Mai and I have slowly survived, and learned for ourselves. Each day we learn from the good and bad. It's my job to protect my family, all we want is your approval, and that's all." My father frowns at me as Lin and Madoka look at each other.
"Okay, we just need to sleep it's been a long day. The others already left, saying that tomorrow they will progress more on the information." Madoka whispers, turning to face me. I nodded at her.
"It's a lot to take in. I'll take Mai back to her apartment," I told them. I look down at my wife.
"Mai, wake up, we're heading home."
"Why? Is William still after us?" My eyes widen, noticing Mai sweating, her body shaking. I press my hand on her forehead feeling her head burning up.
"Mai. Wake up." I begged, Mai opens her eyes, but they look clouded.
"Mai? You look terrible." Madoka took notice of her, as Mai stands up, only to stumble back, I move rapidly to grab her arm to steady her.
"Don't touch me. Please, don't touch me, William," her words cause me to pause, as everyone lifts their gaze.
"William?" I heard Lin repeat.
"An old rival of ours in Black Lagoon. That sick bastard." I hissed as the memories plague me.
"Mai, I'm not him... Look at me you're having an illusion," I told her. Mai flinches, tumbling down; I wince as she hits her behind.
"What's wrong with her?" Madoka goes around my desk. I bend down and look at Mai. Her eyes are clouded.
"I think she has a fever due to today's stress. This is too much for her to handle." I told them, watching Mai whimper breaking my heart.
"Mai it's me, Naru, your husband, not that bastard," I whispered. Mai lifted her glossy gaze but shook her head.
"No. Don't lie. Ester sent you, didn't she? You won't have me. I will never give you a child. I rather die than have you touch me. I only belong to Oliver." She hissed, crawling on her knees, and heading for the corner of the office. I get on my knees and start to crawl toward her.
"Mai, please listen, you're having a nightmare. You're sick." I said in a tender voice. I heard the door open.
"Martin, what's going on?" I heard my mother. Mai lifts her gaze, and her eyes widen in fear. Today has been so much for her to deal with.
"What's wrong with Mai?" My mother asks concerned, moving towards Lin's side. Mai lifts her hands to shield herself.
"Don't come near me, or I burn you all. I want my husband, please send me my husband." She threatens. My eyes widen, turning towards the others.
"Burn us? How?" Madoka asks confused.
"Mai, come to your senses, it's me, Oliver." I ignored the others as I move to touch her arm, but I flinched in pain when her arm burns me. My eyes narrow to see that blue flame encircling her arms, the same blue fire from last time. Ignoring it, I pulled her closer and searched her eyes.
"If I wasn't your Naru, then I wouldn't know that on our honeymoon we dance on the beach after Gene left, or when we dance when I told you we were pregnant. Or when I would stay late at night, hearing you tell stories to our babies when you were pregnant. " I reminded her. Mai lifts her gaze towards me, her eyes, trying to return to normal.
"Then why does everyone wants to separate us?" she questions me, deeply hurt, as fresh tears roll down her cheeks. I pulled her into my arms, ignoring the blue flame.
"Let me go!" she screams, as I felt a heat pass through us. I held her tighter.
"Mai, no one will separate us. I promise this. Please come back to me. We have been through worse. My mother or my father will never separate us. I promise. Come back to me, to our kids. We need you." then I move to cup her cheeks.
"I told you before, there're no such things as happy endings. You told me to keep having hope and faith. We have been doing that since the day we fell into the waters those many years ago. No demon, no ghost, or other people will take you away from me. You are mine and I'm yours." I assured her.
She slowly blinks, feeling the heat dying down. She blinks tears and moves her shaky hand. She cups my cheek.
"N. Naru?" her voice trembles. I nodded at her.
"Yes. I'm here." I whispered as she slams herself into me, wrapping her arms around me. She gasps out a cry, tears running down her cheeks.
"You're not my imagination?" she asks me.
"No, I'm real." I simply told her. Mai leans forward and captures my lips with hers. Both of my brows went up from the sudden surprise, as she began to kiss me with desperation, grabbing my shirt and pulling me closer to her. I slowly closed my eyes, returning the kiss, moving as one, for some odd reason, I felt a shock wave run through my body, as our kiss become hot and heavy.
Forgetting about everything, my mind went blank. I pulled her closer, as our feelings won us over. I couldn't stop, but I had to.
"Ma…. Mai!" I breathless said, as I painfully pulled away, slowly opening my eyes, but Mai wasn't having it.
"My love, you are real, see I told you, I can't have anyone else. Not even William. I'm yours, so we can't separate, we share one heart and have two beautiful babies. I'm crazy in love with you, so please tell your Mama that I will take care of you."
"As you wish Ma..." but my words are cut off, when she pressed her lips on mine once again, again with the same passion, forgetting that there are still people around. She then began to kiss my cheeks, traveling up to my forehead.
"How can I leaave you Naru? You're my world." she gasped out heavily returning to my lips.
"Err!" I heard someone say behind me, as I move my hand and froze them in place.
"Mai,"
"I need you," Mai said beginning to unbutton my shirt and lean forward to kiss my neck. I rolled my eyes in pure pleasure, as my pulse quickens.
My whole body shot up, and now this deep ache pulsed in my veins.
If I could, I would right now, Mai. Don't tempt me in front of my parents.
"I need you, Naru touches me, let me touch you. I need to get lost in you so you can feel how much I love you," she begs me, as she grabs my hand and presses it on her beast. I can feel her heart about to burst from all the love she has for me, fusing with mine. I groaned in pain and ache.
She's sick, but she's killing me.
"Parents… Mai, we… we can't. You're sick, and I already know how much you love me," I choked out as she rose herself, and blinks as we both were breathing hard.
She turns to look at them, then turns back at me.
"Then take us out of here, please Naru, I can't stand it," she whispers. I nodded, as she grabs my hand and began to kiss my palm and caress it.
"Just give me a few okay Mai," she nods at me as she leans forward and kisses me once again, then slowly pulls back giving me bedroom eyes. My chest tightens.
How can she be so attractive?
"Did you calm down?" I asked her. She nods, as she snuggles onto my chest, and I wrap my arms around her.
"Sorry,"
"Don't apologies Mai, I'm going to unfreeze them, okay." she closes her eyes and nods at me.
"Just take me away from this." she simply said. I rub her back, leaning my cheek on top of her head.
"Yes, Mai, I will," I assured her as I turned to unfreeze them.
"I have never seen anyone kiss that passionately in real life." Madoka blushes as my father and mother clear their throat. Lin was looking somewhere else.
"Mother, father, tomorrow we will speak of this tomorrow, Mai has a fever, and we are exhausted so we'll go back home together. Lin, please attend to my parents." I asked. Lin turns back to look at us and nods in understanding, looking a bit awkward as I lift Mai in my arms. She wraps her arm around my shoulder and snuggles into my chest.
"My love,"
"Yes?" I question as she slowly opens her eyes and looks up at me, giving me one of her most beautiful smiles that I love so much.
I felt myself suddenly blushing hard as she simply said in front of my parents.
"I love you more than ever Naru, how come I can't stop falling in love with you?"
I don't' know why, but those simple words that mean her whole world cause my heart to quiver with hers, knowing that is true.
We are mentally unstable, seriously Mai? How can you make me fall more in love with you?
I stare at her eyes, feeling our joined hearts just beating harder and harder.
"I wouldn't have it any other way Mai since I can't stop falling even more profoundly in love with you."
Deleted Scene: A month before leaving Black Lagoon
Naru Pov
"This is the life!" Mai stretched her body as Ayame and Gene sat next to her, playing with the small water. I sat across, looking out the ocean, just seeing the seagulls going down to grab their fish.
"It is," I agreed to turn to see Mai smiling tenderly at our babies, as she help them play with an empty seashell.
We are in a small pond that I found not that long ago, that can overlook the ocean.
Yet, my eyes tender, seeing Mai giggle at Gene's shaking his head. We are all naked since it's a waste to put on anything and it's extremely hot. At least the spot I found has shades of the palm trees so we won't' be exposed to being burned.
I jump next to Mai causing her to jump in fright. She turns and pushes my shoulder.
"Again Naru? Stop doing that," she shakes her head, causing me to chuckle.
"Then I wouldn't find fun in it." I teased her. She rolls her eyes, as she scoots closer to me.
"Ah, I was wondering something Naru."
"Hmm?"
"Remember we talked about if when we return if one of us forget about each other?" she asks me.
"Yes, and we promise to get each other back no matter what," I whispered as I run my fingers on her bareback, just transfixed on her. She shivers, and I leaned down to kiss her shoulder. She turns to look at me with heavy eyes and love, but a hint of worry too.
"If that happens do you think our love will be this strong?" she asks me.
"Of course"
"Really?" she asks, shocked.
"Yes, so whatever happens we will be together, just trust in me," I assured her. She nods and turns to face our kids.
"You heard that little ones?
"Gah," Ayame nods, and Gene while they began to splash. I chuckled and began to play with them, but I knew Mai was worried.
"Why do you worry so much about that Mai?" I question her. Mai rubs her arms leans into me, and closed her eyes.
"I'm not sure, but besides that woman, I have another off feeling and I'm not sure what it is and that's worrying me." she admits to me.
I wrap my arm around her, now worried more than ever.
