Miranda tapped her fingernails on her desk impatiently. The gentle, but irritated rhythm being the only sound in her office. She certainly didn't have time for this, and she was beginning to think that she should really just give up.

She looked at the clock once again, something she's been doing quite a bit for the past thirty minutes. It read 12:39 pm. Thirty-nine minutes after Chris McLean was supposed to meet her here to discuss his position as host for Total Drama Island. Though, Miranda was starting to have second thoughts.

Nevermind it being completely unprofessional, but what is Miranda supposed to take this as? Does Chris just not care about the show. If he doesn't, it will come across clearly on television. If the host doesn't care, then why should the audience? Maybe that Dana girl isn't such a bad choice…

Then, right as soon as the clock hit 12:40, the door to Miranda's office burst open, causing her to jump.

Finally, Chris had made his appearance. The host made his way right to the seat across from Miranda, and put his feet up on her desk. "Sup?"

Miranda seethed with anger, but she tried her best to contain it. She needed Chris to cooperate, and blowing up on him wasn't going to do her any good.

"Mr. McLean, hello. I thought we agreed to meet at noon." Miranda told him.

"Yeah, well I needed to make a slight pit stop for a latte." Chris replied. "You know how it is."

No. She doesn't actually. "Yes well, I do hope you don't make being tardy a habit. Especially if you agree to take this posit-"

"No, not if." Chris said, cutting her off. "I am going to take the position."

"O-oh! Well that's great news." Miranda was slightly taken aback by this. They haven't even negotiated any salary for him. As the anger started to wash away from Miranda, she handed Chris a stack of papers that were filled with info. "So here's some things that have been decided and are being planned for the season."

Chris looked through some of them. "Hm… the budget's on the lower side… but that won't be a problem for me. I'll manage for this first season. But once we get renewed for more seasons, I do expect a little more."

"Well we will have to see how the ratings are for the show." Miranda told him. "If they're high enough, then I'm sure you can expect the show to be renewed with a higher budget."

"Mhm…" Chris barely let out a response and he continued looking through the packet of papers. When he was satisfied, he tossed them onto the desk and said, "Alright, while I do agree to be the host, there's a couple things I need to negotiate before I sign anything."

"And what may they be?" Miranda asked.

"First off, I want to be an executive producer for the show as well." Chris told her. "If I'm to be hosting this gig, I want to have a say in the planning process and the decision making."

Miranda thought to herself for a moment. Before this meeting, she was told she would be able to make negotiations with Chris within reason. She had a lot of control on what she can agree to or not. While Tom and Jennifer might not be the most on board, thinking the three of them can handle it, it might be a good idea to get another head in the executive producer role.

"I think that's fair." Miranda told him.

Chris scoffed slightly. "Of course it is. Number two, I can tell you right now, we can be able to save some money by getting rid of some of the paid positions here, and replacing them with unpaid interns."

"What were you thinking of replacing?"

"Mostly things like challenge testers, builders, custodians, things like that." Chris responded.

Miranda listened to what he listed, and thought about it for a moment. "Well, as you said, that could save us some money that could go back into the budget. Deal."

"Great. The only thing I think we do need to keep as a paid position is the chef." Chris told her. "Mostly because I know a guy from back when I was in fametown. He was a bodyguard of mine, and I think he'd be great for that spot. And he could be a sort of co-host if need be."

"Sounds good to me." Miranda nodded. "Saves us the time to find someone for that position."

"Exactly. Now the last thing: I get to choose the cast."

Miranda paused at this. Is that really a good idea? "I'm not too sure about that one Mr.-"

"Take it or leave it." Chris told her.

The executive producer sighed. She tapped her nails on her desk in thought. Not being able to choose the cast would be a bit risky since that could really make or break the season.

"I… I will agree to that." MIranda finally told Chris after some moments of thinking. "However, you will need to have the cast be confirmed by me,Tom, and Jennifer."

Chris rolled his eyes. "Yeah, fine. You got a deal."

Miranda smiled. "I'm pleased to hear that."

Chris got up from the chair, picking up the stack of papers he flung onto Miranda's desk. "So I assume we'll keep in touch to discuss more things about the season?"

"Indeed." Miranda replied, also getting up out of her chair. "Considering you're going to be an executive producer for the show, I foresee us talking a lot more in the future." She held out her hand for the host to shake.

Chris took the offer and returned the hand shake. "Guess so. Laters." With that, he made his exit.

Miranda let out a long sigh before collapsing back into her chair. "It's certainly going to be… interesting working with him." She muttered to herself.

Just then, the door to her office opened again. Miranda looked up, expecting it to be Tom or Jennifer. However, standing in her doorway was Maxwell.

"I Presume the meeting went well?" The vice president asked.

Miranda immediately straightened up. "O-oh Maxwell! Yes, everything went well. There were some slight negotiations that had to be made, but it was nothing too drastic."

The young businessman nodded his head in acceptance. "Sounds good. I know you're not someone to agree to something so out of pocket, so I trust everything is in reason."

"Yes!" Miranda replied. "The biggest thing was Chris had wanted an executive producer role on the project. I thought it would be a good decision to give Tom, Jennifer, and I an extra mind to bounce ideas off of and to help with planning."

"Yeah, as the host, I think it's actually pretty important to have a say in things." Maxwell told her. "Good call on that."

Miranda smiled. "Thank you sir."

"Y'know, you really don't have to be so proper with me Miranda." said Maxwell.

This caught Miranda slightly off guard. "P-pardon?"

"All the sir's and things of the like." The vice president responded. "Admittedly, it's a bit uncomfortable getting that from so many people older than me. But outside of that, I feel the two of us shouldn't be as formal since we're the two youngest."

"While that may be true, you are still the vice president of the company." the brunette responded. "Talking to you with respect should be something that comes with the title."

"I'd sort of agree, but I don't really care for that when it's clear people here don't actually respect me." Maxwell explained. "That's kind of the reason I took a liking to you."

Miranda felt herself blush slightly. "You did?"

Maxwell realized what his wording could imply, so he quickly backtracked. "Not in that way. In a sort of 'I can relate to this person' kind of way. It's clear the other executive producers didn't really have much respect for you considering you are the newest edition. Being so young on top of being the CEO's son definitely makes me catch the ire of some of the people here."

Yeah, Miranda definitely related to that. "Oh… yeah, I understand what you mean."

"Yeah, so I'd appreciate it if you'd be more casual with me from now on." Maxwell said.

Miranda gave a playful smirk. "Deal."

Satisfied with the conversation, Maxwell stood up. "Well, I'll leave you to your work. I'll be seeing you around."

"See ya Maxwell." Miranda replied before the vice president walked out of her office, leaving her alone once more.

Miranda leaned back into her chair and sighed. "Well this has certainly been an interesting day… Hopefully that isn't any indicator of what's to come."

Aaaand that's the last prologue done! I did have thoughts about adding an extra scene months later with Chris, Miranda, Tom, and Jen planning more of the season. It would make a bit of sense, however I feel it wouldn't add much to the Miranda storyline, and that's kinda what I wanted to focus on in these prologues. But yeah, with this the story is officially going to start next chapter with "Not So Happy Campers pt. 1." That's when we'll officially meet the cast, at least if you're not in the discord. The cast and all their stereotypes have been revealed. Though, you can pretty much see what the contestants look like in the story's cover XD. But yeah, I'm super excited for this to start! I can't wait to get to write these characters. But until then, hope you have a great day! ~MG
