Summary: At seventeen years of age, Atreus and his father found themselves in another realm, one that was unfortunately filled with the less crazy, but irritating versions of the gods they had slain. Can they live their life in peace? Or the supernatural world of DxD will be forced to know the full might of THE God of War? Atreus will try to make sure that won't happen… anytime soon at least.
The story will focus on Atreus, with Kratos being a side-character most of the time.

Chapter 4
"Yes, please come on in!" Rias called, upon hearing the sound of someone knocking on the door of her clubroom, and turned her head to see Atreus opening it to walk in, his backpack hanging over his left shoulder as he carried in his hand a handbook, which she had seen him use to take notes of different things "Ah, I am wondering when you are going to show up, Atreus." The crimson heiress said with a smile, welcoming the unofficial member of her club cheerily, as she had become less wary of the mysterious, but also friendly and kind young man.
While Atreus might not be a member of her peerage, she and her servants, especially Akeno, had grown fond him and considered Atreus a fellow club member of the Occult Research Club, where they did research on the occults and hung out with each other after classes like normal students. Sure there were talks and activities that they could not include him in, but Atreus didn't seem to mind it one bit and always let them be without a moment of hesitation.
Even though Rias would love to learn more about Atreus and who he really was, she knew that it could seriously leave an impact on the friendship that they had developed. And so with that in mind, she had decided that she liked their relationship with him the way it was now, and always reminded her servants to not do anything that could ruin it forever.
"So you are waiting for me?" Atreus teased, smirking a little as he walked into the clubroom and closed the door behind him "I'm touched."
"Well, I thought you were used to it by now." Rias said with a shrug, smiling at him as he walked to the couch.
"The others haven't arrived yet?" Atreus asked, feeling a bit disappointed that Akeno wasn't already there to spoil him with her delicious cookies and green tea. Seriously though, the young woman got some serious skills in baking and tea making, which solidified her image of an elegant, gentle and ideal Japanese woman.
Yamato Nadeshiko. It was the term that he had heard some students calling Akeno when they referred to one of the two great 'Onee-sama' of Kuoh Academy.
"Akeno will be arriving soon, so don't worry, she will still be here to treat you today." Rias said, making Atreus laugh humorously back in return. That part she could see through him, but aside from that he was extremely hard to read. "Kiba and Koneko are both running errands for me, while Issei has left to meet a new client of his." Atreus couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at that, making Rias smile before she walked over to her bag and took out a stack of leaflets "Oh, that reminded me. I have something for you here, Atreus."
With that said, Rias handed him a leaflet with a red magic circle in the middle. At first glance, the magic circle looked the same as the one on the floor in the middle of the clubroom, bearing the same crest as it, but being someone who was sensitive to runes and had a talent for languages, he could see that the circle was initially very different.
"It's a summoning contract. You can use it to summon the devils of the Gremory Devil Household, specifically me and my servants." Rias then explained as Atreus took the leaflet from her hand to take a closer look at it "Nowadays there aren't many humans who know how to draw a circle to invoke us, and the knowledge is somewhat lost to them. So we just give these leaflets to those who want our services. If your wish is strong enough, even I can be summoned and arrive to fulfill your wishes."
"Anything?"
"Well, not everything. We don't do sexual services." Rias shook her head and answered, tapping her hand on the leaflet and pointing at the list of things to note about their services "However, there are devils in our family who work on this subject, every family does, so if you need it, I can give you a leaflet that will allow you to summon one."
"Ah well, it's fine. I don't think I am going to need one right now." Atreus said while laughing sheepishly. He had already had Aphrodite, the goddess of sex herself, to worry about. So there's really no need for him to summon a devil to his house for such services.
"If you say so." Rias just shrugged before continuing "Well, me and my servants, we all have our specialties so if you somehow summon Issei but your wish is something that Akeno is good at, we can do a trade. We don't mind sharing our clients. Normal families don't do that, however, since it's important for young devils to fulfill lots of wishes to increase their pay and reputations."
"Ah I see. I will make sure to keep that in mind." Atreus nodded his head in understanding before asking "Speaking of which, what do you guys take in return? You are not going to take my soul or anything like that if I ask you to do some simple household chores, are you?"
"No, of course not." Rias laughed playfully and shook her head while waving her at him "We don't do that anymore. We take payments these days. Almost anything will do as long as they have a certain amount of value. It's really not good for business if we end up killing our clients after one single job, you know."
"That's good to know." Atreus laughed and put the leaflet away into his backpack. He really didn't know if he would ever need Rias and her servants' services, since he could take care of most things at home by himself, from simple laundry duties to cooking, having survived and lived in worse conditions in the wild. However, he could consider summoning Akeno to make his father her handmade cookies or brew him some tea, which the man really liked. Poor Mimir wanted some too, but the man no longer had a stomach to digest the food, so soon as he had tasted it, he would have to spit it out, something that Kratos would not tolerate.
A few minutes later, Akeno, Kiba and Koneko arrived at the clubroom, and the group moved on with their daily activities normally. Today Rias had decided to play chess with Atreus again, but the young man soon proved to be a formidable opponent, even more so than Akeno, though Rias welcomed the challenge. It was only because she had played more games than him and had more experiences in chess that she was able to best Atreus, but she had a feeling that very soon he would flip the table around and start beating her.
It made her wonder how well he would fare against Sona by then, when he had already beat her in academic study.
"If he doesn't get lost, then Issei should be arriving at his new client's house now." Rias said, more to herself than anyone as she finished arranging the chess pieces on the board with Atreus.
"Wait, he didn't use that magic circle to go there?" Atreus couldn't help but ask, making a gesture with his head toward the magic circle on the floor.
"Ah… to be able to use it alone, one has to have an acceptable amount of demonic power." Rias said with a somewhat forced smile while Akeno giggled amusedly while hiding her mouth behind a hand "If we travel as a group then it shouldn't be a problem, but Issei has very low demonic power so he can't use it to get to his clients' houses. He has to travel there by bicycle."
"Are you sure that he has a sacred gear dangerous and powerful enough for a fallen angel to want to eliminate him?" Atreus asked with a sweat drop. Raynare did say that he had no talent whatsoever, so maybe she had seen something in the boy that he hadn't been able to.
"Well, we have done some research after he was able to activate it, I believe his Sacred Gear was…"
"Buchou!"
Before Rias could finish, Akeno suddenly called and showed Rias and everyone the leaflet that the crimson haired girl had left on the table counter, causing her to immediately stand up in alarm. The inner circle of the magic circle in the center of the leaflet had disappeared, leaving only a blank page with the description of the contract.
"What happened?" Atreus asked. Judging by the look on Rias' face, he could tell something serious was happening.
"The contract has been terminated." The crimson haired heiress explained "Usually, when our clients don't want our services anymore, they can cancel the contract themselves and the magic circle will disappear to prevent them from summoning us again in the future. However, they need to have the leaflet that they used in their possession to be able to do that, but…"
"… but you are keeping it, right?" Atreus continued Rias' words, as the girl nodded her head in confirmation.
"Yes, and if the contract terminates itself like that, it can only mean that the client is dead." Rias said, making Atreus widen his eyes in surprise "Something must have happened. We need to go there now." She said, looking over to Akeno, who nodded her head at her king before rushing over to the magic circle in the room to prepare the teleportation.
"Do you guys need my…"
"No Atreus, I appreciate it, but we can handle this ourselves." Rias interrupted, shaking her head at Atreus as the young man stood up.
"I have prepared the magic circle, Buchou. We are ready to go." Akeno announced, and Rias along with the rest of her peerage walked over to the [Queen] of their group to stand around her, as the magic circle beneath him them shone brightly.
"Don't worry, Atreus-kun, we will bring Issei back in one piece." Akeno assured him with a gentle smile before she activated the magic circle, leaving Atreus alone in the clubroom as she teleported herself and everyone else to their destination.
Without a moment of hesitation, Atreus grabbed his backpack and opened it to grab his old knife, and a short but curved wooden stick like grip, which he then willed to transform itself into a long, curved bow, with the limbs extending out from the grip itself before the string materialized between the two notches.
This was the bow that he had bought from Brok and Sindri, who had made it from a branch of the Yggdrasil itself. How they managed to get their hands on a branch of the World Tree itself was beyond him, but they had also added a bit of dwarven magic into the bow to make it much easier to carry around in a modern world where one couldn't just wield a weapon around in public without drawing attention.
Throwing the bow over his back as a quiver full of arrows appeared behind him, Atreus then walked over to the magic circle in the middle of the room, which had dimmed away after Akeno had casted her magic. Lowering himself down on one knee to examine the magic circle, Atreus then grabbed the summoning contract Rias had given him earlier and used his knife to cut the tip of his finger before using his blood to add a few more symbols and markings to it.
Even though Atreus was still uncertain, and had only managed to grab a hold of the basic, he had been trying to figure out what each symbol in the Rias' magic circle meant, wanting to know how the magic of the devils worked simply out of curiosity. With Rias' leaflet, he had all that he needed to reverse the effect of the summoning contract's magic circle, and linked it with the one the crimson haired girl and her servants used to travel so that he could teleport himself to their location, or at least somewhere close to them to avoid detection.
"Here goes. Please don't teleport me into a volcano or anything like that."
Once done, Atreus then put the leaflet down and stabbed his knife into the symbol in the middle, causing the magic circle on the floor to light up before teleporting him away.
In a flash of light, Atreus found himself falling face first onto the rooftop of a two-story house, knocking over a set of chairs and tables but otherwise didn't cause any more damage. Getting up, Atreus then looked around to see where he was, just in time to dodge a large orb of crimson and black energy that flew past him and literally annihilated everything on its path.
"I will not forgive anyone who tries to harm my servants, especially a vulgar, trash human being like you." With his ear picking up Rias' stern voice, Atreus then removed the bow from his back and walked over to the edge of the rooftop to take cover behind it before leaning up to peek at the house on the other side of the street, where he could see Rias standing with her servants facing a young man with short white hair, red eyes and dressed in clerical clothing. He also had a disturbing smile on his face, and wielded in his hand a gun along with a light sword that looked like a weapon from those Star War movies he had been watching with his father.
Behind him, however, was the horribly disfigured corpse of a man, whose intestines were spilling out and hanging on the floor as he was hung downwardly on the wall behind the arrogant looking priest.
There was also a pretty young girl with long blonde hair and green eyes kneeling on the floor not too far from them. She was wearing a dark teal nun outfit with light blue accents and brown boots with black straps. Her dress, however, was torn down the middle and Atreus could also see a dark bruise on her left cheek, with blood trickling down from the corner of her mouth.
"Asia, are you alright?" Issei, whose right thigh was bleeding badly, stumbled over to the girl and kneeled down next to her to put his jacket on her shoulder. The girl did not respond, but she had a look of sadness and relief in her eyes as she turned to look at him.
Akeno, who stood at the window next to the hole Rias had created, suddenly turned around, causing Atreus to take cover instantly to avoid being detected, not knowing if Aphrodite's enchantment would work on devils the same way it did on the gods of this world. Fortunately for him, however, the black haired [queen] didn't look at him, but she appeared to have sensed something and immediately informed her master.
"Buchou, there seems to be some fallen angels coming towards this house. At this rate, we will be at a disadvantage."
"Tch." Rias clicked her tongue in annoyance, and true enough, Atreus could see a group of three fallen angels flying toward them. He had no doubt that they were the friends Raynare had mentioned. "Kiba, retrieve Issei. We're leaving."
"Yes!" Kiba said as he rushed over to Issei, kneeling down next to him and putting his hand on the boy's shoulder "You heard our president. It's time for us to leave."
"But… we have to take this girl with us too." Issei said, looking at Rias pleadingly but the crimson haired young woman just shook her head.
"It's not possible. Only devils of the Gremory household can use that magic circle, and don't even think about staying. You are in no condition to fight Issei. They will kill you even before you know it." Rias told him firmly, making Issei grit his teeth in frustration before looking at the girl in his arms. Atreus could understand Rias' decision. While they had the fallen angels outnumbered, Issei was badly wounded and he would only become a burden to the others if they had decided to stay and fight. If one wasn't fully prepared, it's difficult to fight and protect their allies at the same time.
"Asia!"
"Ise-san, let's meet again." The girl finally responded to him, smiling at the young man gently as she held his jacket close to her chest.
Those were the last words that the two exchanged, as Akeno finished casting the spell, and caused the magic circle on the floor to glow its trademark crimson color once again.
"As if I'm going to let you guys get away!" The priest shouted and came swinging his sword at the Gremory group while laughing maniacally, but Koneko simply picked up a sofa in the room and threw a sofa at him. By the time that he had managed to slash it with his light sword to avoid being hit, the group had already been teleported away, leaving the blonde girl behind with the crazy looking priest.
"Tch, shitty fucking devil." The priest cursed, before turning his attention over to the nun on the floor, smirking lecherously as he approached her "Now, where were we?"
"N-No… stay away from me!" Asia sobbed, backing away from the crazy priest. Growling quietly under his breath, Atreus then stood up a bit and nocked an arrow against the bow string, drawing it back and preparing to take out the bastard before he could do anything to the poor girl.
"Freed! Stop it!" Before he could do that, the group of fallen angels arrived, with the one with blue hair shouting angrily at the priest. Atreus glanced at them for a moment before lowering his bow, but only just a little. "What do you think you are doing?" The one who asked that question was a tall and buxom woman with brown eyes and long, navy blue hair that obscured her right eye.
Her attire consisted of a maroon, trench coat-like top with a wide collar, a matching miniskirt, and black heeled shoes. The trench coat top was open at her chest, giving view to her very large breasts and cleavage, while her miniskirt was very short, almost 'Aphrodite-short' to be exact.
"Tch, talk about timing." The priest, Freed, cursed loudly in annoyance, as if he did not care if the fallen angels could hear it "And here I thought I could have some fun raping this sister before we have to go back to you guys."
"Shut up, you freak." The blue haired fallen angel growled at him, before beckoning Asia to come over with an assuring smile "Asia, come here. It's okay now."
"Kalawarna-sama." Calling the fallen angel's name in relief, Asia did just that, running over to the older woman, who then pushed the blonde behind her before she turned back to glare at Freed. Her companions, meanwhile, looked neutral about the entire situation, though they both had a look of disgust on their face as they glanced at the corpse on the wall.
"How many times do I have to tell you that Asia is off limit, freak?" The blue haired fallen angel said "She's important to us. We have already lost Raynare because of those devils…"
"Yeah yeah, whatever." Freed cut her off with a yawn before he continued "Do I look like I care? You guys need soldiers to do the dirty work for you, like taking care of those devils if you ever cross paths with them, so I signed up, and did just that. What else do you want from me? A good dicking? I can fuck you right here if that's what you want from me."
"Why you…" Kalawarna growled, summoning her light weapon. Before she could do anything, the gentleman looking at the fallen angel standing behind her grabbed Kalawarna's shoulder and stopped her.
"Leave him, Kalawarna. He's just trying to piss you off." He said in a calm tone "Let's leave before anyone notices this scene here. I think that's enough killing for today" Kalawarna looked like she wanted to argue as she glanced murderously over to Freed, who simply stood there and casually picked his ear with a smug grin on his face. After a moment, however, the blue haired fallen angel took a deep breath before nodding her head to her two companions.
"Very well. Come Asia, let's leave this place." With that said, the three fallen angels made their wings appear on their backs before taking off, with Kalawarna carrying Asia in her arms as they flew away.
"Damn motherfuckers, think you are better than me?" Freed asked after the three fallen angels and Asia had left, cursing loudly before laughing maniacally as he stomped the head of the corpse on the wall repeatedly, soaking himself in blood. "One day, I will fuck that holier than thou expression right out of your fucking corpse, you fucking blue haired bitch..."
Just the moment Freed finished that sentence, he heard the sound of something flying through the air, but wasn't fast enough to react to it, feeling extreme pain when it stabbed into his foot and impaled it into the wall before him. Gritting his teeth, Freed saw that the object that had impaled into his foot was an arrow, and tried his very best to yank it out before suddenly hearing the sounds of footsteps approaching him from behind.
"What the…"
Atreus did not let him finish or even have time to realize that he was being attacked, as he grabbed the mentally unstable priest by the back of his head and smashed it into the wall before him, breaking his nose and sending him right through it as it collapsed upon impact. As Freed crashed into the backyard of the house, Atreus jumped down and landed one his feet behind him as he held his bow in hand.
"Why you!"
Cursing loudly, Freed picked himself up and threw himself at Atreus, throwing his fists at him in anger. With minimal body movements, Atreus dodged all of the punches and then kneeled him hard in the stomach before swinging his bow and smashing it against the priest's face, knocking him off balance before kicking him in the chest, sending him crashing into the wall behind him with so much force a spider web crater appeared around him.
Before he could even fall out of it, Atreus fired two quick shock arrows at his shoulders, impaling him firmly into the wall and making him cry out in pain as the yellow electricity shocked his body to the core.
"You know, I am not usually this straightforward." Atreus said as he walked toward the priest, who was still jerking randomly even after the effect of the two arrows had ended and looking like he was just barely holding onto his consciousness. "But I think I have seen enough to decide that scum like you don't deserve to live."
"W-who… who the fuck are you!?" Freed asked weekly as he looked up to glare murderously at Atreus, but instantly widened his eyes when he saw the pointy tip of another arrow that was being aimed at the spot right between his eyes.
Before Atreus released the bow string and let the arrow do its job, he decided to answer the question, in a tone that sent chill running down Freed's spin for the first time in his life.
"I am Loki."
And the sound of the arrowhead impaling itself deeply into the wall behind his head was all that he heard.
End of Chapter 4
Note: And that, folks, is the end of this chapter! A bit shorter than the last one, but I hope that everyone has had a great time reading nonetheless.
Wow, we hit 100 reviews, 452 followers and 389 favorites and almost 10000 views by the time I finished writing this chapter. I actually did not expect this story to attract so much attention, and become such a success. However, I am glad that you guys have been enjoying this story, and will do my best to continue it till the end.
Keep up the good work of reviewing and leaving feedbacks, and I will give it my all delivering the next chapter as soon as I can!
Next chapter will conclude the first canon arc of DxD. It's going to be a long but full of action one.
As always, remember to leave behind a review once you have finished reading. And don't forget to check out my p/atreon and join my discord community for the earliest updates of my stories (new chapters will always be up much earlier there). Your support would be much appreciated in this difficult time.
See you in the next chapter everyone!
P/S: What do you think of the Yggdrasill bow? I actually haven't planned for it to have any special power yet, so for the time being it will only serve as a more concealed replacement for Atreus' Talon bow. However, if you guys have any suggestion, feel free to give it. We still need to wait till God of War Ragnarok to see what new abilities does Atreus have, after all.
Atreus' main weapon is still in development, but as always, I am open for suggestions.
