Summary: At seventeen years of age, Atreus and his father found themselves in another realm, one that was unfortunately filled with the less crazy, but irritating versions of the gods they had slain. Can they live their life in peace? Or the supernatural world of DxD will be forced to know the full might of THE God of War? Atreus will try to make sure that won't happen… anytime soon at least.
The story will focus on Atreus, with Kratos being a side-character most of the time.

Chapter 9
"Oh damn… man, this is so good." Atreus praised, as he took another large bite of the loaf of baguette in his hands, his teeth cutting through the thin, crisp crust and soft, air texture to arrive at a plentiful layer of fillings of savory slices of pork, boiled egg, chilis, vegetables and meat sauce. "It …i …o …elicious~."
"Don't speak with your mouth full." Rias berated Atreus lightly, knowing that proper manners was the one thing that the young man lacked from hanging out with him at his house. However, Rias just couldn't stop smiling as she walked beside Atreus, watching him enjoying the food she had made for him as breakfast that day.
Her cooking was, as usual, a delightful treat for him. Rias wasn't kidding when she claimed to be a really good cook, with a wide range of cooking skills and knowledge.
The two of them were currently walking to school together, with Rias showing up at his house very early that morning to wait for him, again. It still caught him by surprise even though she had been doing it almost every morning ever since he saved her from that marriage engagement with Raiser Phenex.
Although Atreus had tried to convince Rias, who had told him that she was grateful for what he had done for her, that there's really no reason for her to feel that she was in debt of him, the crimson haired girl continued to treat him affectionately, coming to his house to cook for him and his father and almost replacing Akeno entirely every time she got the chance. Recently, she had even begun to help him do the housework and while it's not that Atreus couldn't use a helping hand since he had always hated doing his own laundry, the risk of Rias discovering Mimir was getting higher and higher every time she entered his room to do the cleanup.
It would be incredibly difficult and troublesome to explain to Rias what a living, reanimated head of another version of the world's smartest man was doing inside his closet, even for him since Rias was also quite well-versed in mythology, after he probably had to calm her down and showed her that he and his father weren't deranged psychos.
Still, it really sucked that he couldn't introduce Rias or Akeno to Mimir, who had been wanting to meet them. Him making friends with the devils his father could allow, but revealing to them the secret that they were gods from another world, with Atreus himself being the counterpart of this world's one of the most evil gods Loki, was something that Kratos did not think was unnecessary. It was something that Atreus had to agree with his father, as he just wanted to stay off the radar of the gods of this world, and live his life in peace.
"So how's things with your family? Everything has been going well, I hope?" Atreus asked, not knowing if Rias would be in any serious trouble with her parents for the cancellation of her marriage engagement with Raiser Phenex even if they did not initially appear to be so.
After the fight was over, Zeoticus and Venelana had only exchanged a few words with their daughter before returning to their home in the Underworld, and even though it had appeared to be a short, but friendly conversation between family members, he really had no idea if they had forgiven her for wanting to fight Raiser to have her engagement cancel in the first place.
Lord and Lady Phenex were an entirely different matter, as they seemed to have accepted their son's defeat even before the match began, not to mention that the lord of the Phenex household himself had looked quite content with it. If he could take a wild guess, then Lord Phenex was well aware of the fact that his son was a prick, who believed his power was absolute, and a beating like that from someone who he thought to be weaker than him and not of the same standing as him would allow Raiser to learn some humility.
"Yes, it could have been worse, but my mother and I had a decent conversation about my future as the head of the household a couple of days ago, and we were able to sort things out quite nicely." Rias answered with a small smile "For the time being, I don't think I will have to worry about them agreeing to any new deal from another pureblood devil household hoping to set their son up with me to unite the two houses ever again."
"Wait, does that mean there are new engagement deals already?" Atreus couldn't help but ask, though he was not surprised, having been told about the possibilities by Rias the night she first came to work at his house. Any families would want to unite their houses with them, with Rias being the little sister of the current Maou Lucifer himself, and from what he had heard, her mother Venelana was also originated from the house of Bael, the highest-ranking house amongst the 72 pillars who held the rank of Great King.
"Yes, and quite a lot of them, actually." Rias nodded her head with a small laugh "The whole thing was supposed to be a private affair between us Gremory and the Phenex, so of course for some reason the information was leaked and now the entire Underworld knows that I am no longer engaged to Raiser."
"So have any of them made any actual advancements yet?"
"Not that I know of. My father has been busy dealing with those offers. So far, I don't think anyone is brave enough to issue a challenge after hearing about what happened to Raiser." Rias answered with a shrug, adding before Atreus could get the wrong idea "And in case you are wondering, everyone thought it was one of my servants who beat him."
"Huh, good to know." Atreus grinned, and quickly finished his breakfast as they got closer to Kuoh Academy. If there was anything that Rias knew well about Atreus, and his father, was that the two wished to live a quiet, humble life, one that would let them hang out with each other in the weekends, fishing.
The last thing they needed would be her 'wanted to be' suitors showing up at their house and challenging Atreus thinking that by beating him she would automatically agree to marry them. After what Atreus had said to her, it was the last thing she wanted too.
"Look, it's Rias-senpai and Atreus!"
"They are walking to school together again! Are they really dating!?"
"Damn that bastard! I can't believe that he really stole our Rias-sama from us!"
"But why is a high class lady Rias-senpai dating a delinquent like him? I don't want to believe it!"
"Yeah, isn't Atreus some kind of gangster or something?"
"Huh, new rumors. Gotta love them." Atreus chuckled sarcastically as he entered the academy ground with Rias walking side by side with him and overheard all the conversations and rumors about them from the students around them. He didn't hate those rumors or the students gossiping about them every morning, especially the ones about him being a delinquent as it kept most of the troubles away, but Atreus actually disliked the fact that they never ever bothered to try to be discreet about it. Sure they were more or less whispering to each other, but their voices were just loud enough for everyone standing close to them to hear.
"So I will see you after your class is over then, Atreus?" Rias asked, tilting her head forward to look at Atreus while holding her hands behind her.
"Sure." Atreus nodded his head and replied to Rias, before raising an eyebrow in wonder when she reached into her bag and took out an object that looked like a box wrapped carefully in crimson cloth, looking identical to the bento box that he usually saw her eating when coming to the clubroom at lunchtime.
"Here, this is for you." Rias said cheerily and handed him the box, allowing him to take it from her hand as the students around them gasped "You usually eat lunch at the cafeteria, right? So why don't you have this for today instead?"
"Aw, thanks, Rias." Atreus grinned as the crimson haired girl smiled radiantly back at him in response. It wasn't the first bento box that she had made for him, but it was looking to be the first one that he would eat at school. He couldn't wait to see what she had prepared for him.
"Alright then. I better get going now." Rias turned on her heels and start making her way toward the old school building, but not before waving her hand at him one last time while saying loudly and cheerily "I will be waiting, so don't be late."
With that said, Rias finally walked away, humming a happy tune as gorgeous long tresses of her beautiful crimson hair flew gently in the winds behind her. It was truly a mesmerizing sight for anyone who was looking, and Atreus was glad to see her in such a good mood... more so than she had ever been before.
"R-Rias-sama's bento…" One of the male students in the group standing not too far from him said, eyeing the wrapped bento box in his hand covetously.
"Hey Atreus, how much for that bento box! I wanna buy it!" Another male student, a third year student, demanded as he took out his wallet, as if he was fully expecting Atreus to just sell Rias' bento box to him right away. He looked rather well off, so there was no doubt that he had a lot of money with him.
Following the guy's example, the other male students started joining in too, asking and some even demanding Atreus to sell them Rias' bento box, before it eventually broke into a verbal fight, with each and every boy believing himself to be the one who had the right to buy it from Atreus, who simply walked away as if nothing happened.
As Atreus made his way into his classroom, he could feel his phone going off inside his pocket, and took it out to see Aphrodite's name flashing on the screen, with a selfie of her winking cutely at the camera with her tongue sticking out. How and when did she add her own photo to her contact on his phone? Atreus had no idea, but it could might have just been a new form of smartphone technology that he still hadn't figured out. After all, in this world different species had different forms and levels of technology, and the Greek gods were no exception.
"What's up?"
"Atreus, where are you?" Almost as soon as the line was connected, Atreus heard Aphrodite whine, sounding childish and playful at the same time "I wanna hang out. I came to your house but you weren't home."
"Aphro… woman, just how many times that I have school on Monday?" Atreus asked in annoyance, having trouble telling if she really did forget that he had to go to school on the weekdays, or she simply just didn't care. Knowing her, it's probably the latter.
"Huh, but I thought someone like you would have breathed his way through college already?" Aphrodite then asked, sounding as lively as ever "Can you finish high school tomorrow so we can have a date on Wednesday?"
"It doesn't work like that, you know." Atreus spoke blankly, making Aphrodite giggle "What do you want, Aphrodite? And make it quick. Class will begin soon so I can't stay on the phone for long." He added, as his classmates began to head back into the classroom.
"Just want to check on you, that's all. It's been days since we last met, and you still haven't told me what happened after you saved Rias Gremory from a loveless marriage engagement. I must say, young man, with what you have been doing down there, you've been making me a really happy goddess of love. It's crazy how we have only had sex once, when you clearly deserve a lot more." Aphrodite giggled, and Atreus had to fight back the urge to roll his eyes. Of course she would bring that up.
"Anyway, the devils haven't been giving you trouble for doing it, I hope?"
"Nah, so far so good. I don't think any of them hate me for it." Atreus answered, as he sat down behind his table and looked around to make sure that no one was eavesdropping him. It would be troublesome if someone heard what he was saying to Aphrodite and got the wrong idea "The Phenex seemed pretty chill. I think they know their son is a jerk. I don't know about Rias' parents though, but she told me things had been going very well between her and her parents, so I guess the whole situation ended better than expected, all things considered."
"Aw, good to know." Aphrodite smiled "Even though here I was hoping some a little bit more than that to happen, like a backlash from both families or something to give you and that devil girl some troubles to make things more interesting. Turn out the devils have become more reasonable than I thought."
"Was it really that bad in the past?"
"Oh you have no idea." The Greek goddess of love answered with a laugh "It was a pain for me to stomach those devils in the past, especially the ones that were in charge, and that came from a member of a race of hysterical hypocrites."
"Wow, talk about being honest and straightforward. It's really that bad huh?" Atreus couldn't help but ask, trying his best to not laugh because his father and himself technically were also members of the same race as Aphrodite.
"Oh you have no idea." Aphrodite answered him with a chuckle "Even now I think some of those devils I despise are still around, secretly pulling strings in the dark, so you better watch yourself while hanging out with Rias Gremory and her family down there, Atreus. Just who she is alone naturally brings her and everyone related under the attention of those devils."
"I will keep that in mind. Thank you for the warning, Aphrodite."
"Oh, another thing. If you plan to visit Brok and Sindri later today, I think it's best that you call it off." Aphrodite then continued, making Atreus widen his eyes in surprise "Oh, before you get the wrong idea, the dwarves are fine. It's just that we Greek gods have been having more meetings here than usual, so the other Olympians have been coming back here more often. You probably won't want to be seen wandering around by any of them, so it's best that you avoid coming to Olympus for the time being."
"Ah, I see. Thanks for the heads up." Atreus thanked Aphrodite again, before asking curiously. "So what is happening exactly? If you don't mind sharing."
Aphrodite had told him that because nowadays the gods of Olympus preferred to stay within their domains in the human world more, not many of them would be present in the City of Olympia at a time, allowing Atreus to have more chances to visit the place without any worry. So, for the Olympians themselves to come back to it more often, something big must be happening and Atreus would really love to know what it was, since he had never actually gotten to know the actual life of a god.
"Oh, it's just the son of Hades trying to break out of hell. Not the first time he tries, but Zeus always gets worked up whenever this happens, so it's really nothing you need to worry about." Aphrodite replied simply, making Atreus widen his eyes slightly in surprise. The son of Hades trying to escape hell? Now that's not something he got to hear every day. "So, can I see you after school?"
"Sorry, class is starting. Talk to you another time." Atreus said simply, and ended the call before Aphrodite could even say anything more, but he did hear her trying to tell him to wait. He wasn't lying though, because class was indeed starting as their homeroom teacher made his way in and greeted his students.
Before Atreus could begin his study as usual, his screen of his phone flashed as he received a text message from Aphrodite, who clearly wasn't quite pleased to get shot down by him, again. Though she did promise to come see him once the current situation with the son of Hades on Olympus was settled, and Atreus didn't turn try to turn her down this time, because as much as he was annoyed by her unhealthy obsession for messing around, Aphrodite was the only one who could show him the world he had always wanted to see, the world where gods weren't all evils and tried to fuck with him and his father every time that they got the chance.
Days passed, and Atreus found himself passing through a peaceful, if not somewhat quiet period of time. On the normal days, school was a breath for him, so Atreus mostly went to Kuoh Academy to hang out with Rias and her devil family, having grown even closer to them. Before, they had been wary of him for obvious good reasons, but after what he did for their beloved master Rias, they all became more open to him and interacted with him a lot more than before.
Since his final class ended early, Atreus arrived at the Occult Research Clubroom when no one was there yet. Feeling a bit sleepy from staying up late the previous night watching a Korean drama tv series with Mimir, Atreus put his backpack on the table and slumped down on the nearest couch, deciding to just get some sleep while waiting for everyone else to arrive.
As Atreus slept with a book over his face, strangely enough his senses began to come to him, making him feel as if he was actually wide awake. Soon, his surroundings became clear, and it was then that Atreus found himself running faster than he had ever done in a normal PE class on the schoolyard of Kuoh Academy, maneuvering between covers and trees as he dodged the arrows that were being fired at him from high above by a shadowy figure who wielded in their hand a purple bow that seemed to magically generate its own ammo each and every time that they pulled back the string.
It wasn't long before Atreus started answering with his own arrows, all of which he fired with extreme precision toward his enemy, who wasted no time to dodge them with a long leap into the air, almost disappearing into the night sky as he took cover somewhere else in the new school building.
Atreus then heard himself and his enemy shouting something to each other, but couldn't quite make out what. After a moment of verbal exchange, the two left their covers almost at the same time, and started running at each other. Because of how fast they were fighting, Atreus couldn't get a good look at his opponent, but he noticed that they were dressed in a black and red toga, and wore on their head a bloody red laurel wreath. In addition, he could have sworn that their feet were perpetually on fire as they ran around the field.
Sparks flew between them as their arrows clashed in the air, and for a moment, Atreus and his opponent proved themselves to be evenly matched, both in speed and archery skill…
…until that person jumped into the air, and came swimming down at Atreus with his bow morphing itself into a sword with a white skull as its handguard.
"AH! Who are you! What are you! Stay back!"
"Wha… how did you see us!?"
Atreus instantly jerked awake, causing the book on his face to fall off as he sat up and looked around in full alarm, calming down a bit after taking in the fact that he's still in the Occult Research Clubroom, and everything he had experienced just now had only been a dream, though Atreus highly doubted that it would be that simple.
"Ah, Atreus-senpai! We need your help!"
"Oi! Boy! We need ya help here dealing with this kid!"
Blinking, Atreus then looked around the room when he heard himself being addressed, and widened his eyes at the sight before him. Issei and Asia were standing near the front door, with the latter hiding nervously behind her friend as he stood protectively in front of her with a broom in his hand, facing Brok and Sindri, who were cautiously backing off while holding their fists out like a pair of amateur boxers.
Standing at various spots around the clubroom, the other members of the ORC were also on high alert, with Rias and Akeno standing behind the latter's corner with their magic flaring at the ready from their hands, while Kiba had a sword in his hand and Koneko stood with her fists up, being the only one in the room who was smaller than the dwarves.
It was the strangest, and most awkward scene that Atreus had ever found himself waking up to.
"Brok, Sindri!" Atreus called, before standing up and rushing over to the dwarves' side to defend them and clear any apparent misunderstanding "Guys guys, it's alright. Lower your magic and weapons down. These two are my friends."
He explained in an assuring tone, vouching for Brok and Sindri and that seemed to calm Rias, Akeno and Kiba down, with the crimson haired girl nodding her head in understanding at him. However, Issei continued to keep his guard up, staring warily at the Hulda brothers, who looked right back at them even harder.
Seeing that, Atreus decided to ask, crossing his arms as he looked between the two parties "Alright, mind telling me what's going on here?"
"This kid ya friend?" Brok asked, pointing an accused finger at Issei, making him raise the broom above his head, but Atreus just grabbed it from his hand and tossed it over to Kiba, who chuckled forcefully as he put the broom away in a corner after making his sword disappear "How in the sweaty pants of Thor that he was able to see us as we came in!?"
"What do you mean I was able to see you? You guys literally just walked right in front of me and everyone!" Issei answered, before noticing the way the other devils in the room were looking at him "What's with that look? You guys saw them too, right?"
"Uhm… Issei-kun." Kiba raised his hand as he stepped forward and said with a somewhat nervous smile "If you did not shout, we wouldn't have noticed them."
"That's right, Ise. I am sure that you were the only one who saw them." Rias nodded her head in confirmation, making Issei even more confused than before as he stood there and scratched the back of his head.
"Were they invisible?"
"Actually, it's not invisibility." Sindri pointed out with a finger in the air, having lowered his fists down alongside his brother "Us dwarves can step into the realms between realms… it's just that your mind doesn't understand it so you can't see us at all."
"Then how did Issei-kun see you?" Kiba asked.
"Maybe it doesn't work on dragon?" Atreus questioned, but he already knew it might very well be the reason Issei had been able to see Brok and Sindri, remembering the explanation that the Sindri of his old world had given him and his father when they asked about how he and his brother was always able to travel ahead of them while remaining unseen.
He simply asked that way to avoid making Brok and Sindri become suspicious of him because he knew them a bit too well.
It was a magic that allowed them to avoid using the weapons that they crafted, but for some reasons it didn't seem to work on dragons, while mortals and even gods themselves like him and his father, or even the All-seeing Odin, were all affected by it.
"Dragon? This weirdo is a dragon?!" Brok asked, plodding over to Issei, who instantly backed away with Asia as the blue skinned dwarf stared at him intensely "I don't see any tail or scales."
"Is it because of his Sacred Gear?" Rias asked…
… before Atreus could stop her, which made Rias very confused when she saw the look on his face.
"So, ya got one of those specials, eh?" Brok asked, snickering mockingly before bringing out his hammer, making Issei back off instantly as he started tapping the palm of his other hand with it. If he didn't look like he disliked Issei before, he definitely did look like it now. "Must feel nice, eh kid? To be born with a weapon that is completely free of charge… and it's one with the soul of a freaking dragon inside it too! How fuckin' nice!"
"Atreus, what's going on?" Rias looked over to Atreus and asked. The blue skinned dwarf did not look like he would attack Issei, but at the same time, he did not look friendly with that hammer in his hand either.
"They hate Sacred Gear." Chuckling, Atreus answered, as he walked over to his crimson haired friend and spoke to her in a low tone so that the dwarves couldn't hear it "Brok and Sindri are old school weapon makers, two of the best even, but for many reasons their business have been going downhill ever since the emergence of Sacred Gears."
"Oh." Rias spoke lightly, while Akeno, who was standing near Rias and overheard what Atreus said, giggled softly while hiding her smile behind her hand.
With another amused chuckle, Atreus continued while waving his hand in front of his face "So try not to mention Sacred Gears around them, and whatever you do, don't let them know about Kiba's blade blacksmith. Sacred Gears that can just create weapons by themselves are the ones that they hated the most."
"I can see that." Rias nodded her head in understanding "I will keep that in mind, don't worry, Atreus."
"But Brok and Sindri… I feel like I have read about them somewhere before." Akeno pondered, tilting her head to the side as she looked at the two dwarves, who were having a not so friendly conversation with Issei, though Sindri seemed very polite with Asia, who had calmed down somewhat after seeing that the two meant them no harm.
"I am sure you have. They are the ones who made Thor's hammer, Mjolnir." Atreus answered with a nod, making Rias and Akeno gasp in shock and amazement before he turned around and walked toward the two dwarven blacksmiths "So Brok, Sindri, what are you guys doing here?"
"Ya missed ya weekly maintenance, you sorry sack of shit." Brok answered crudely, twirling around to point his hammer at Atreus.
Sindri nodded his head in confirmation before speaking up himself, albeit in a more subtle way than his ill-mannered brother, "Well, it's been two weeks since you last came to Olympus. We were a bit worried about your bow's condition, so we decided to come looking for you ourselves. We said we would expand our range of services, didn't we?"
"But how do you know where to find me?" Atreus questioned curiously as he grabbed his backpack and took out his bow "Did you put a tracker inside my bow or something?"
"Not trackers, we don't do that shit anymore. Those electronic devices ruined the quality of our wares." Atreus and the devils standing around the clubroom couldn't help but sweat drop as Brok said that. So they did try to do it in the past. "Give it here."
As the blue skinned dwarf said that, Atreus handed him the bow, which was then released from its sealed form so he could start working on it while grumbling about how Atreus did not spend enough time cleaning and polishing it. Brok's mood, however, seemed to improve a bit when things began to settle down in the clubroom and Akeno gave him and his brother some cookie treats.
As Atreus sat with Rias on the couch while she and everyone were watching Brok and Sindri advertising their weapons and services, he couldn't help but think back to the dream that he had had. For him, dreams might never be just dreams. They could be visions of the future.
And if it was so, then who was that person? Why were they fighting? Atreus had been challenged in archery before, but never to that level.
Maybe he should talk to his father about it later.
Or maybe not.
