Summary: At seventeen years of age, Atreus and his father found themselves in another realm, one that was unfortunately filled with the less crazy, but irritating versions of the gods they had slain. Can they live their life in peace? Or the supernatural world of DxD will be forced to know the full might of THE God of War? Atreus will try to make sure that won't happen… anytime soon at least.

The story will focus on Atreus, with Kratos being a side-character most of the time.

Chapter 13

"So, when you said you had killed bigger things than that youkai monster, how big we are talking? Mountain size?"

"Bigger."

"Woah. Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think you have told me about one." Atreus could not help but release an amazed gasp, as he sat with his father on the bench not too far away from where Yasaka was giving orders to her servants, with her daughter standing at her side. The sun had risen, and the battle had ended about an hour ago, but the cleanup works had only just begun for the youkai of Kyoto.

All who had given their life in the battle would soon receive a proper burial with the customs of the youkai's cultures. On Yasaka's order, even the ones that had fought against her and her people would receive the same treatment, but for the ones who were still alive, they would soon be questioned and interrogated. Those who weren't quick enough to flee the battlefield had all been captured, while those who refused to stop fighting had been swiftly dealt with by Yasaka herself, who had offered them mercy but still they refused.

Apparently, the humans who had fought alongside the opposing Youkai faction called themselves the Hero Faction. They was a group consisted of solely humans who carried the souls of the mythical great heroes of the past, along with being sacred gears, holy and demon swords wielders, whose goal was to fight and eradicate all those that they deemed evil beings, such as devils, fallen angels, and even youkai if they brought harm to humans.

However noble as their cause might sound, it seemed that the faction acted on their own self-interests for the majority of their time, with a reputation of killing everyone and everything that they encountered, even if these beings simply wanted to live peacefully with the humans around them. They were also known for cooperating with anyone who they shared a common goal with, even if they were the same beings that they swore to exterminate for the sake of humanity.

In short, the so-called Hero Faction was no hero, and they were nothing more than a bunch of hypocritical children armed with fancy god killing toys to use however they wished, instead of for the right reasons.

"It's done." Yasaka spoke, as she walked over to stand before Kratos and Atreus, smiling warmly at them with Kunou walking at her sides and holding her hand. "My men will soon begin the rebuild of Ginkaku-ji temple. They will have it restored by the time it's opened for tourists again today."

"So you really didn't need my father and the Toshikazu to rebuild Fushimi Inari shrine from the start?" Atreus couldn't help but ask, as he and his father stood up from their seat to talk to Yasaka with him then glancing over to Kunou and giving her a slight waving gesture of his hand and a small grin, making her hide behind her mother but leaning her head out to smile at him nonetheless.

"Yes. I have servants who have lived long enough to be well versed in traditional Japanese architecture, and magic to help us build any buildings in the matter of hours." Yasaka said, giggling softly into her hand when Kratos hardened his gaze and grumbled audibly under his breath, which she had come to realize that he always did whenever he felt annoyed, or disapproved of something. "I decided to enlist humans' construction services because I could not trust any of mine, as I do have reasons to believe that there are spies from the youkai faction that we fought against last night among them. Turned out that they had spies infiltrated the Toshikazu group anyway, but nonetheless, I couldn't risk giving any of them the chance to break down the seal keeping their god at bay in secret while pretending to restore Fushimi Inari temple, which at the time I believed to be the location of the seal. I was wrong, and I was so naïve to believe that they would not sink so low as to kidnap my daughter, who's but a little child, to fulfill their purpose."

Yasaka finished her explanation, glancing over to her daughter and giving her a smile, which Kunou returned with one of her own as she looked up at her. Atreus could tell that this woman loved her daughter dearly, but then again, what parents would not love their children and be willing to do anything for them?

"I don't believe we have properly introduced ourselves to each other." Yasaka then said, turning back to Atreus and his father to lower her head and introduce herself to them "I am Yasaka, the leader of the Kyoto Youkai. It'd be my honor to make the two people who saved my daughter's life acquainted."

"Please don't say it like that, Yasaka. We are simply doing the right thing." Atreus shook his head and said, making Kratos snort in response, not feeling surprised in the slightest to hear his son once again claiming helping other people was the right thing to do. "I am Atreus, son of this scary, grumpy man here. How's your wounds by the way, Yasaka? You were hurt pretty badly back there."

"Ah, I will be fine, Atreus-kun. With the spiritual power of Kyoto flowing through me once again, my wounds are starting to heal on their own, you see." Yasaka smiled as she took Atreus' hand and shook it, glancing over to Kratos as he gave his son a look for calling him grumpy, which Atreus simply grinned and shrugged his shoulders in response. Smiling at them, Yasaka then continued, placing her other hand upon her handshake Atreus, while still holding on to it "The youkai of Kyoto and I are forever in your debt, Atreus-kun, Kevin-san. If there's any way for me to repay you for saving my daughter, and fighting for us, then please…"

"It's okay, Yasaka. You don't have to repay us anything." Atreus then looked at his father for a moment before turning back to Yasaka to speak to her "However, if it is possible, I would like you to keep what happened here last night a secret. My father and I… we won't be exactly welcomed by anyone if they know who we are, and what we are capable of."

Yasaka couldn't stop herself from widening her eyes in surprise, but nodding her head to them in understanding nevertheless. She could see why the existences of two incredibly powerful individuals, one of whom had single handedly defeated a youkai whose strength was said to rival that of the Shinto gods, could be worrisome and unsettling for other factions, especially the ones like the devil factions and those who had been at odds with them. It's just the way it worked, and the way those factions operated.

"I will spread the word to my people. Your secret is safe with us, for as long as I am still their leader." Yasaka spoke firmly with a hand to her chest, a gesture that was copied adorably by her daughter.

"Thank you, Yasaka." Atreus smiled, before getting down on one knee before Kunou and placing a hand on her head to ruffle her hair "Kunou too. We really appreciate it."

"But what about the Hero Faction?" Yasaka then asked, remembering the enemies Kratos had fought, one of them dead at his hands "Surely every one of them knows about you two by now with their leader still alive."

"It's quite alright, Yasaka. We have had people trying to get to us before, so if it leads to that, then we…"

"… we will deal with them ourselves." Kratos spoke up, firmly and matter of factly, with his son nodding his head in agreement with his father. After seeing what this man did to his enemies and especially Heracles of the Hero Faction, Yasaka could only pity those who dared to come for them.

"By the way, Kevin-san. Since I will have my men take over the restoration of Fushimi Inari Shrine as well as Ginkaku temple, I will have my assistant visit Yoshioka-san and the rest of his crew to adjust their memories a bit. By the time that you meet up with them later today, they will believe that they have finished their jobs." Yasaka then told Kratos, who then raised an eyebrow at her, making the fox woman continued quickly "Oh, but you don't have to worry, I will pay you and everyone full for the troubles. It's the least that I can do."

"Hmm." Kratos did not say anything, but he nodded his head to her nonetheless.

"Well, if there's nothing then I need to get back to Kuoh now before Rias and the others start getting worried." Atreus then spoke to her father, but it was Yasaka who reacted more to his word, immediately noticing the name that he had spoken up.

"Rias? By any chance it's Rias Gremory?" She asked, looking at Atreus.

"Yeah, it's her." The young man nodded his head in confirmation, before he continued "You know her?"

"Not in person, I don't." Yasaka shook her head before she said "But I know her brother and another Maou like him. Her name is Serafall Leviathan, who is the older sister of Sona Sitri. I believe Sona-san is a friend of Rias-san and another high-class devil who lives in Kuoh Town with her own group of servants."

"Ah, I am close friends with Rias, and I am also well acquainted with Sona. She's been trying to beat me in study recently." Atreus nodded, remembering how Sona had made him her number 1 enemy in academic study simply because he had outdone her in every exam that they had had so far this year. "So… you are friends with the devils?"

"Not really, but they have been trying to form an alliance with us." Yasaka answered "Serafall Leviathan is the Maou of foreign affairs, and she and I have had a handful of meetings the past few months to talk about the future of our Factions together. It's good to have ally these days, but an alliance with the devils is a questionable one with how their Evil Piece system works among their society, so I am still leaving the deal on hold for now."

"I see. I can understand why you would be hesitant." Atreus said, nodding his head to Yasaka in understanding.

He knew Rias and her family were famous among the devils for their exceptional affection for their servants, but if that was really the case, then Atreus could only imagine how some other families treat theirs. Of course, he was not trying to paint the whole picture with the same brush, but if Raiser looked at his peerage as his personal harem, then it's hard to tell how other pureblood devils that weren't Gremory would view their servants.

Yasaka, meanwhile, looked like a leader who cared a lot for her people, so Atreus had no doubt that the reason why she was hesitated from forming an alliance with the Devil Faction was because she did not want the youkai to be treated badly by the pureblood devils if they chose to join their peerages, or even be forced to join one.

"Well, Yasaka, me being friends with the sisters of two Maou definitely doesn't give me the right to advise you whether or not you should form an alliance with them. It's totally up to you so I will leave you to be the one who will make that decision." Atreus told the fox woman, who smiled and nodded her head to him "If that's all, I better get going now. See you in a few days, father."

And with that said, Atreus took his leave, waving goodbye to Kunou, whose eyes continued to stay on him as she waved her hand at Atreus in return until he had disappeared, all the while trying to contact Aphrodite and ask her if she could give him a teleport back to Kuoh.

"Well, I guess you will be leaving soon as well, won't you, Kevin-san?" Yasaka then asked, turning her head back to look at Kratos, who remained as impassive and nonchalant as always.

"If you no longer require the old man's service, then my job here is also done." Kratos answered, referring to Yoshioka who probably would never have any idea that he had actually killed three of his newest workers.

"Ah I see… that's too bad. And here I was almost hoping that you would stay in Kyoto for a few more days before leaving." Yasaka said, sounding almost disappointed but her expression immediately brightened up as she continued "But I doubt that anything I say can make you stay, so let's meet again in the future, Kevin-san."

The fox woman finished with a smile, and held her hand out to him for a handshake. Kratos, however, reached out with his own a bit further than that and wrapped his fingers around her forearm, making Yasaka widen her eyes in surprise before she did the same, closing her fingers as much as she could around his much larger and muscular arm and shaking it slightly as he gave her a small nod of his head.

Once done and they had taken their hands back, Kratos then turned his head over to Kunou, his expression softening somewhat when he saw her looking up at him.

"Take care of yourself, and your mother, little girl." Kratos spoke to the little fox girl while ruffling her hair softly the same way his son had done, making Kunou smile at him before nodding her head.

With that, the ashen skinned god of war held his hand out for the Leviathan Axe to return to him before he turned and took his leave, walking away with Yasaka and Kunou keeping their gazes on him under the warm and pleasant sunlight of the rising morning sun.

"Haha-Ue, will we mee Atreus-onii chan and Kevin-ojii san again?"

"Only time will tell, Kunou." Yasaka said, smiling at her daughter, who beamed radiantly at her. "Come, let me take you to breakfast. What does Kunou want to eat today?"

"Takoyaki!" The little fox girl cheered, making her mother laugh softly at her before taking her hand and leading her away, smiling softly as she gave the ashen skinned man one last glance before walking away with her daughter.

"Ah, preparing to leave again already, boyo?" asked a literally skeleton man upon seeing his training partner, a young man whose feet were literally perpetually on fire as he was dressed in a red toga that he was a training dummy for, walking into the courtyard like training room of his house before moving over to the other side of the room to pick his weapons, the six Infernal Arms.

"Not today, Skelly." The young man answered with a small grin, grabbing his spear and spinning it around expertly in his hand as he turned around to face Skelly "I think I need to train a bit more before I try again. Master is busy so I can really use your help."

"Ah, very well then." Skelly replied with a humorous chuckle, before he began to workout a bit by stretching his shoulders and doing some light jogging in place on his spot "You have gotten a lot stronger recently, boyo, so don't just splash me against the wall, okay? I will go boom into a million pieces and it's hard to put myself back together after that."

"I will keep that in mind, mate." The young man said with a chuckle, as he held up his spear and took a stance "Though, I must admit. It's not that bad of an idea." And with that, he ran at Skelly, his spear at the ready to pierce the immortal Bloodless, remains of a mortal warrior who died in battle but were not properly buried, as he held his hand up and took a basic hand to hand combat stance, the corner of his skull curving up into a smirk as he stared fearlessly at the young man in red.

"Zagreus! Zagreus!"

But before either of them could do anything, a floating, disembodied Gorgon's head shade, with one of the green snakes that was her hair holding onto a handheld broom, flew into the courtyard screaming in panic, calling out to the young man as he stopped in his tracks to look at her.

"Dusa, what's wrong?" Zagreus couldn't help but ask in concern, continuing to glance at her when she stopped next to his head to whisper into his ear, making his eyes widen in surprise before repeating what she had just told him, while Dusa just nodded her head repeatedly "Cerberus is missing?!"

"What do you mean someone took my dog?!"

End of Chapter 13

Note: And that's the end of this chapter! A bit short, but I think it's good enough as a transaction character from one arc to another, and I hope you have had a great time reading it nonetheless.

Well, nothing much really for me to talk about in this chapter. Next arc of course will be Excalibur Arc, and the official debut of Zagreus into the story. Hope you guys enjoy this little cameo of him in this chapter. We will have more of him in the future chapters, serving both as a semi-side character as well as a rival for Atreus.

That will be all. Once again, I hope everyone has had a great time reading this chapter.
