Ch 16

Here is another long overdue. Someone told me that I wrote the previous one too short, so I hope now that this is not too long too :p

Let me know what you think!

Jon watched the Dragons reunited with joy, holding each other for their long-lost members. The room felt warmer just by watching them, to be able to meet a family member after believing that they may be the last of their kind.

He felt happy for her, she had always believed that she is the last dragon and that no one wanted her but the Stark siblings and him. He did his best to prove her otherwise, that the pack needs her. He needs her. The world turned upside down since the day he rescued her.

Had he known that one of her last living relatives is here, he would've asked an arrangement with Uncle Benjen and Father that they would like to see him. But he doubts that they would be able to with the Lannister lions prowling around, and Robert Baratheon wouldn't like it either. Everything was very complicated.

Nonetheless, here they are now. Together again.

Jon felt a pat on his shoulder, he turned to see Ser Barristan looking at him, "I'll be outside with Ser Jeor," he whispered, "Don't take too long, we need to leave soon." The White Wolf nodded, and the Old Lion turned to the door and left the Dragon family alone.

Jon then continues to watch Dany and Uncle Aemon holding each other. He had seen the many faces of Dany, but never this happy until she had tears in her eyes.

And for Dany, this was her dream as a child.

All her life, she has always thought that she was the last Dragon to ever live ever since she joined the pack. It felt lonely to be the last of her kind at first, to be different from the rest of the world.

But when Jon came to her life, that pang of loneliness slowly faded. She didn't care that she had to be the last of her kind as the Stark pack accepted her, she may even think that she was a wolf herself, even marrying one.

And now, here is another of her kind right in front of her. Her Great Uncle Aemon. She never really knew him, nor heard much about him since Viserys mostly spoke about her parents and their oldest brother. But to know that she has an uncle, who doesn't look like he's as mad as what people told her about her father, comforts her very much. Mayhaps her family image of the mad family can be renounced.

To have him hold her as a father would for his child is one of the most special moment she could ever cherish. Her Uncle's scent is of the old and snow, she can also feel his frail body trembling, but she guessed that it isn't for the cold weather, for he is wrapped up with warm black clothing. He himself is warm, as if the dragon in him still lives.

"I've waited so long," Uncle Aemon croaked happily as he continues to hold her, "So long to finally see you one day."

Dany can only nod, "I didn't know that you were here, Uncle," she mumbled, blinking away the tears in her eyes, "Many told me that I was the only one left."

"I imagine many would tell you that," he strokes her back slowly, "I was somewhat forgotten in the South." They began to pull apart, she fixed his gaze at him, he looks so happy. His milky eyes did his best to look at her, they look like they can see through her soul. Her uncle strokes her cheek lovingly, "And I've heard so much about you, my child."

She sniffled while holding his hand on her cheek, "How?"

"When Benjen came to deliver his recruitments and training reports, he told me about you," he answered, "I could not believe that you were alive, my child," he held both her cheeks, "I thought you perished along with your parents and brothers."

She shook her head slowly, "Viserys and I escaped, and we didn't know where to go," she told him, "We had to conceal ourselves, fearing Robert's assassins might find us. And when we did able to escape them, Viserys…. He…" she trailed off, wondering if it's right to tell him that his nephew is just as mad as her father.

But Uncle Aemon seems to understand. He moved his hands and held hers, squeezing them, "I know, Daenerys. I've heard of what had become of Viserys," he said, making Dany sighed in relief. She's not sure if she's strong enough to tell him the days when she used to live with him, "I am so sorry for what you had to face on your own."

"There is nothing to be sorry for, Uncle," she told him, "You didn't even know I was still alive."

He nodded, "And here you are," he held her hands firmly, "Look at you, my child. You've grown up to be a fine young lady, just as I prayed for. Your family ought to be very proud of you."

Dany couldn't help but smile at his words, she never thought that anyone would even pray for her health. All her life, before joining the pack, Viserys cursed her. But this old man, whom she barely knew, had been eagerly waiting to see her. Someone, aside Jon and his siblings, longed to see her, and it's her own family. The Dragon cub embraced him once again, severing the feeling of being held by her one and only living family, "They'd be proud of you too, Uncle."

He stroked the top of her head, "I am so glad that the Starks treated you well, that they accepted you into the pack."

"Jon helped me fit in," she said.

"Ahh yes," he said, pulling away from her and turned to look around as if looking for someone, "Is he here?"

She nodded, then she turned back to see Jon already walking up to them. He pulled a chair and sat next to her, "Hello, Maester Aemon," he said gently, "Or should I say, Uncle Aemon as well?"

The old man looked confused, "What?"

"It's a little long story, Uncle," Dany said.

And so, Jon and Dany filled everything that Uncle Aemon needed to know. About his parentage, and the secret relationship that Rhaegar and Lyanna had. They summed it up shortly, enough for their uncle to understand and know what their states are. It's not pleasant to tell that they had to run away, but the fact that their family still lives makes the weight of their shoulder seem to decrease.

"My," Uncle Aemon hummed, "This is quite shocking, this whole new truth."

"Nobody knows about me yet, only my Uncles do. They have been keeping this secret to keep me safe," Jon explained.

"I see," the old man leaned back on his chair, "I knew that Lord Stark is an honorable man, but to keep you both safe from both Robert and Tywin is another matter entirely, especially after what my brother did."

She nodded, "Yes, he didn't cast me away the first time we met. He protected me from the Lannisters," she then held Jon's arm, "Jon convinced him as well."

Uncle Aemon looked at him, "Jon Snow," he murmured, "You have no idea how thankful I am for you to save her, especially from the Lannisters."

"It's fine," he chuckled, "I just did what I thought was right."

The old man leaned forward a bit, "And I am thankful that you too are alive all this time. I thought that our family is no more."

"We are here," Jon reassured, placing his hand on his great uncle's arm, "we are all here together."

Uncle Aemon placed his hand on his, "You both must be together, no matter what now," he rasped, "A Targaryen alone is a terrible thing."

The way he said that brings sorrow in her heart, it sounded so sad and heavy. Was he referring to himself too? How long did he endure to be here?

"But what brings you both here?" he immediately changed the subject, "If Tywin knows that you are here, we may not be able to protect you, nor will Ser Barristan here."

Jon and Dany looked at each other, asking each other silently if they can reveal where they are going. But her mate gave her a nod, it seems that it's better for her to tell him herself. After all, he was the one eager to meet her.

Dany looked back at the old former dragon, "Uncle," she began quietly, "We are leaving Westeros."

He blinked his milky eyes, "What? Why"

She pursed her lips, "The Lions… ever since King Robert passed for some reasons, the Lannisters took over. They tried to kill us a few days ago, that is why Ser Barristan is here."

The old man's mouth fell open, "I didn't hear about this."

"Lord Alpha Stark believed that it's best for us to leave the pack," Jon continued for her, "Tywin has been trying to tear the pack apart since the very beginning, and now that he got to us, he is going to bring chaos into the pack and the whole clan if we keep staying here."

"Does he know about you, Jon?"

"Thankfully, no. He only wants Dany," Then Jon gripped her hand, "And I am not going to let that happen." His determination made her heart swell, only he would ever protect her.

Uncle Aemon face turned calmer, and his smile became warmer, "Daenerys," he called her, "When I touched your hand, I felt a ring on your finger," He said, making her blink. How sharp is this man?

Dany smiled at his mention of the ring, she lightly touched the ring that Jon gave her. Married. Never did she imagine that she'd be a married lady, nor did she imagine that she'd love someone, and that person to love her back.

She noticed that Jon is looking at her lovingly, which makes her heart swell. He gave her a light kiss on her head and turned back to their uncle, "Aye," Jon said, "you felt that right. It's our rings."

The old dragon's eyes widened, "Are you both married?"

"Aye," he chuckled, "Just recently actually."

Uncle Aemon lightly laughed which ends up with a small cough of excitement, "Why that's wonderful, my children," he rose his hands up, "I am so very happy for you two."

"Thank you," Dany moved forward to embrace her uncle again and sighed in relief, "I wish you were there with us when we said our vows."

He chuckled, "I do too, my child. I do too," he kissed the top of her head and ran his hand on her back.

A knock came at the door, making Dany pull away from him. The family turns to see Samwell entering with a tray filled with steaming cups. "Excuse me," he mumbled, "A nice hot tea would help in this cold weather."

"Ahh, yes, Sam. Thank you very much," Uncle Aemon smiled, "I suppose you've met my assistant when you both came in?" He raised his arm and gestured to the fat boy.

"Aye," Jon said as he watched the man serving them their drinks, "Thank you."

"Not a problem," he said and got up to leave. As Jon and Dany saw him leave, their eyes caught another figure leaning against the wall next to the door, making Jon blink in surprise.

Ser Barristan. Since when did he enter?

He didn't say a word, merely crossing his arms and watching him. Then he gave Jon a gesture to the door, signaling that they need to go now.

Jon pursed his lips, the thought of leaving another family member made him sick. He had not parted in good terms with Robb, and he had had a painful farewell with Arya, and now, he's about to leave his old uncle behind in this horrid castle.

But time is running out, it's either their safety or risk of being murdered alongside his pack.

He held Dany's arm, "It's time to leave."

She turned to him with a surprised look, "What?" Jon turned to Ser Barristan, who is waiting for them, and Dany followed his line of sight.

The old Knight gave her a nod, "It's time to go."

"But," her voice pitched, sounding desperate and held on her uncle's hand, "we just got to meet each other."

"Aye," the old lion huffed, "Or perhaps he would like to join us to the East Watch?"

Dany's face softened, then he turned to her uncle, "Uncle Aemon, come with us to Essos," she determinedly said, "We'll live together as a family there."

"I'm afraid that's not possible, my lady," the old lion interjected. Dany's hopeful face turned to despair at the mention of it, her brows furrowed.

"The vows of the Night's Watch are for life, Daenerys," Uncle Aemon muttered sadly, "I cannot leave this place, it is my duty until the day I die."

"But you are all alone here," she protested, "You've done your part, let the others take care the rest."

"I am not entire alone, my child," he reassured her, stroking her cheeks softly, "The young members here come to me for counsel, they still need me. Samwell takes good care of me, and so did his lovely little wildling friend. And they had been great company, in fact, he read me all the stories about you."

"What?"

"Benjen had always kept me up to date about you, my child," he said, "And knowing that you were accepted and doing well with the wolves made me so happy. Happy that not everyone has ill-will against our family, especially towards you, my child. The daughter of Aerys."

Dany held his hand that is on her cheek, crying softly. She just met this lovely man, and she is going to leave him without his family. She had known what it's like to live alone, and she can't bear to think that he's going to die here.

"Although it is said that he is unable to join us," Ser Barristan broke the tension, walking towards them, "But that doesn't mean he can't go to the East Watch with us."

This made the cubs turn back to the Old Knight, Jon straightened his back, "Can he join us to the East Watch?" then he turned to Uncle Aemon, filled with hope, "can you?"

"Yes," Uncle Aemon smiled, "There is a carriage here for me, and I can say that I'm going to check East Watch."

Dany's smile widened at the thought that she can still spend more time with him. She turned back to her old uncle, "Shall I help you prepare?"

"No need," he did his best standing up, "All you need to do is to stay by my side as we enter the carriage. Ser Barristan," he called, "if you would be so kind to call Samwell to help prepare the carriage."

"Certainly, Master," he bowed and swiftly left the room.

"Now," he held both her arms with a huge smile on his face, his white eyes looked like he can see her very clearly in those milky whites, "you can tell me everything along the way. I want to hear everything from you, you don't have to care that Benjen may have told me already, I want to hear it all from you."

In about an hour, the dragon family and Ser Barristan were ready to leave. Ser Barristan had Samwell prepare the carriage, a lady helped him in the process, saddling the horses. Jon wondered who that lady is since Castle Black doesn't welcome females. He'll take note to ask later.

Jon and Ser Barristan loaded their belongings at the back of the carriage. They packed light, expecting that they'll purchase clothing that will suit the culture there. They would want to not raise suspicions as well in a new country. Uncle Aemon also left Ser Jeor in charge while he left for East Watch for a while, to which he obeyed.

Uncle Aemon and Dany sat inside the carriage along with Ser Barristan. Jon insisted that he to be with his uncle and Dany, though he didn't like the idea that he's not guarding the carriage.

"It's for the best, Ser," Jon insisted.

"I don't like it," The Old Knight mumbled, "I don't like it that you are to be the only one to keep an eye on us."

"A wolf in the North is more common than a lion in the North," Jon argued, "If a Northern clan member saw you, it'll raise suspicions and to why a lion is spotted here. But with my form, they won't take a second glance."

"I still don't like it," he stated, "In case you have forgotten child, you are the lion's target."

"Aye," Jon sighed, "But they still believed that I'm dead and it's night now, they won't be able to recognize me in this dark."

"Hmm, if you say so," Ser Barristan gave in, "But give me a signal should suspicions arise."

"Aye," he nodded.

Behind them, Ser Jeor approached the old lion and white wolf. "I wish you good luck, my friends."

"Thank you, Ser Jeor. Thank you for your hospitality," Jon said.

"Not a problem, Jon Snow," The Lord Commander said.

And at that, they all parted ways, and the dragon family all left Castle Black.

Jon sat beside Samwell at the front seat of the carriage, holding the reins. Their transportation had small lanterns to light the way for the horses. This is his first time to be more cautious during patrolling, the closest he ever had to do this was when he had to hunt. And now he is being hunted.

As Dany mention, Jon did feel something changed inside of him. All of his senses amplified, he could see better at night, everything still looked clear to him, the faintest noises reached his ears and any scent reaching his nose is strong. The first time he noticed was when he stormed away from Robb where he managed to break free from his submission to obey. His snarls and growls didn't affect him at all, the White Wolf was able to resist the Alpha. Did Melisandre did something to him when she woke him up? He truly is a rogue now, how he wishes he and Robb could part in good terms. He has been nothing but supportive throughout this time as a brother and a member of the pack.

"Something on your mind, friend?" a voice distracted his train of thought. Jon turned to see Samwell looking at him, his hands on the reins driving the horse steady. This fat man was the one who have been taking care of his old uncle all this time, perhaps he can be trusted.

"Nothing, just small nerves," he said.

"I see," he said, "Well, in case you haven't heard, I am Samwell Tarly."

"So, I've heard," Jon puffed, pulling his hood further, "I'm Jon Snow. Thank you for looking after Maester Aemon after all this time."

"It was my pleasure," he smiled, "He was actually the one looking after me, I must say."

"How so?"

"Well, as you can see, I'm not the best of a fighter. I love books more than swords," he confessed, "and when Maester Aemon knew that reading is of my best interest, he took me in to read any writings coming to him. He said that my talent lies elsewhere, and here I am now," he mumbled happily, "I've heard about you too, Jon Snow."

"Do you?"

"Yes, you were supposed to join us, or so I've heard. But when Daenerys Targaryen came by, you stayed with your pack."

"Aye," he didn't hesitate to confess, "I… I know the Dragon clans weren't friendly to any clans in the past, and that they are hunted today…. But Dany did nothing wrong, she shouldn't be at fault for what her father had done to the entire clans."

"Hmm, true," Samwell hummed, "A noble thing to do for her."

"I just thought what I believe was right," he muttered, fisting the reins.

"And you did, mate," Sam patted his shoulder, "that was very brave of you, standing up against the lions. No one has ever done that, especially from someone like you, a bastard."

A part of Jon felt a little irritated at that mention, but he can't blame him since he didn't know who he truly is, and it's best to keep it that way at the time being. "Aye," was all he can say.

"So, where are you both leaving?"

"Away from Westeros," he said, "Tywin may have tolerated us, but that doesn't mean that he still doesn't want her dead. So, we are leaving."

"Where to?"

"Far from here," Jon answered, "The pack has endured so much shit from the Lions just because we kept her. We can't be a burden to them any longer."

"I see," Sam murmured, "Well then, wherever you go, I wish you good luck, Jon."

Jon smiled at him, "Thank you, Sam. And all the same with you. Why did you join the Night's Watch, if I may ask?"

"Family troubles," He said nervously, "My father thought that me loving books is a disgrace to the Tarly family, so I was sent to the wall."

"You are of House Tarly?" Jon exclaimed in disbelief, Sam only nodded. He had seen the Tarly clan, the cousins of House Tyrell. They are not elves, but they were specialized with bows and arrows, as most elves are. He had expected that house to be as noble as his pack, but never thought that one of them would end up like a bastard, "I'm sorry for what he did to you."

"It's fine," he murmured, "But thank goodness Maester Aemon saw my strength in books, so I am still needed in the end anyway. I am forever in debt for him, that was when I knew that not all Targaryens are bad. He is a very respectable man to every single one of us."

Jon smiled at him, he never heard much about his Uncle. But by the way Sam praised him, he must've been an honorable man. Someone whom everyone would be proud to know.

If only they had more time to get to know one another.

They rode for nearly half a day, not stopping for rest or anything. So far, there hasn't been anyone recognizing Jon. It was a peaceful ride. He can still hear the chatters of Dany in the carriage, must be catching up lost time. He's glad that she'll know that she's not alone, and it became silent for a while. He assumes that Uncle Aemon is asleep or something, for he and Dany had slept in Melisandre's tree and now they are quite wide awake.

On the way, Jon took the time to admire the forest of the North one last time. He came to realize that this may be the last time until he comes back, and it doesn't look like it'll be anytime soon. He will miss him home, but he didn't regret the action that brought him this far.

By the time they arrive at East Watch, the sky has already glowing though the sun has not risen yet. It could be hours until the sun will finally peak but otherwise, their surroundings are much better. Jon blew the candle in the lantern so that they can attract less attention, the night he was anxious that someone would be suspicious of him but otherwise, they were all clear.

Their ship looks ready, it looks like a transport ship to bring goods, not a passenger ship. A perfect disguise. Not too grand nor too shabby, it's just a right medium size.

Jon knocked on the carriage walls, signaling their arrival. Ser Barristan emerged out of the box first, but Dany and Uncle Aemon. Jon took the opportunity to drop out of the driver's seat and check on them, he opened the door and peeked inside. His mate sat beside her uncle, arms in arms. The old man seems to be dozing off a bit. The sight made him feel bad, that they must separate soon.

"Are you all good?" Jon asked in a whisper.

Dany nodded and turned to her uncle, "Let's just give him a few moments first."

Jon nodded, "I'll leave you both to it first, I'm going to check if we have all we need to leave already. Sam will take care of you."

"Actually," Dany muttered, she began to shake the old man gently, "Uncle, we are here."

The old man dozed a bit before being woken up, his milky white eyes trying to look at his surroundings as if trying to seek the light. He grunted, "Where are we?"

"I believe we are at the port of East Watch already, Uncle," Dany answered.

"Hmm, time is quicker than I thought," he murmured, "what a shame, I wish these old bones would allow me to stay awake a little longer."

"It's not your fault, Uncle," Dany tried to cheer him up, but Jon could detect the small hint of sadness in her tone. How he wishes he could just take him with them.

"It's fine, my child," Uncle Aemon caress her cheek, "I enjoyed every moment I have with you, even if it's just a while. Now come, I want to get off of this small box."

She nods and helps him off the carriage. The old man was slow going out, and Jon can see how careful Dany was towards him. Jon placed himself beside Uncle Aemon, helping Dany to bring him to the port.

"You are a good lad, Jon," Uncle Aemon suddenly muttered, making Jon blink. The old man only smiled at him, "Dany is lucky to have someone like you."

Jon ducked his head a bit in embarrassment, it's rare he'd get compliments from anyone. His eyes trailed to meet Dany's eyes to see that she's looking at him with content, notifying that she agreed with her uncle…... their uncle.

He smiled back at her and pursed his lips, "Thank you… Uncle."

"Your father would be very proud of you, Jon. I wish I got to know you when your Uncle spoke highly of you," Uncle Aemon blurted out, startling Jon a bit. No one has ever mentioned his father, and the fact that his father is Rhaegar Targaryen still sent shivers down his spine. His father is a dragon, and his mother is a wolf.

Jon nodded, feeling his eyes welling up, "I wish I got to know you too, Uncle."

"If you were with me, Dany here wouldn't be alive. You are to be elsewhere than here, my boy," he looked at Dany, stroking her arm, making her smile, "I believe a real destiny waits for you both."

"I just want all to live in peace," Jon sighed. He wanted how things used to be after he met Dany, it was peaceful and filled with happiness. He wishes he could live those days again.

"Mayhaps you both will bring that time," Uncle Aemon murmured softly.

Jon turned to the old man, "What?"

"Oh, nothing," he smiled, "Ahh, is this the port?"

This man is still sharp, Jon thought. Behind, Sam was carrying their packs. Jon immediately felt ashamed for letting someone carry their belongings for them, "Dear gods, I am so sorry," he left Uncle Aemon and Dany's side to get to Sam, immediately taking their belongings.

"It's fine," Sam panted, his fat body didn't seem to have much strength to carry things, but luckily Jon and Dany didn't bring much with them, only clothes, "I just don't want anyone to take your things while you are all having your moment together."

"Thank you, Sam," Jon said as he shouldered their packs, "You are a good person."

"Not a problem, Jon," Sam grunted, fixing himself proudly, "I'm happy to help, especially seeing that Daenerys is making Maester Aemon happy, it's rare to see him this happy."

Jon got nervous when her name escaped his lips, he assumes that Ser Barristan or Lord Jeor told him of who she is because them coming here would raise suspicions, "Listen, Sam. About her…."

"Don't worry, no one knows. I promise," Sam reassured, "Luckily she always has her hood on, otherwise, it'd be a dead giveaway."

"Thank you," Jon looked back, seeing his uncle and mate having a moment together, looking at the ocean. They look like they are having a deep conversation, seeing how Dany looked so serious. Perhaps he'll ask later on.

"They look very happy," Sam pointed out.

"It's not often to see her this happy as well," Jon commented, still watching his mate.

"I suppose so," Sam tucked his hands in his pockets, "being hunted by the Lions and all. Luckily, you came into her life."

"No," Jon shook his head, still watching Dany from a distance "She came into my life."

Jon and Ser Barristan had their documents and letters settled for Pentos. All they had to do at the moment is to wait until the time to leave, which is any moment now. So, the five of them had more time to themselves.

They all were able to board the ship for a while first, just sitting on boxes at the poop deck. Dany was recommended to keep her hood cape up for the entire ride so that no one would recognize her, and Ser Barristan didn't wear his Kingsguard armors to attract less attention, so he wore similar travel suits so that he looked like some ordinary traveler looking for stories, just like Jon.

They didn't talk about their personal stories out in the public, merely about the life that might be ahead in Essos. From what Uncle Aemon gathered, Essos is a rather disorganized place. It may not be as civilized as Westeros, but it's a livable place. Aemon laid out possible duties that Jon might be interested in there so that he won't look like some refugee, even though they are.

"All aboard," shouted the captain of the ship on the poop deck, snapping their attention, that it's time to leave.

Dany pursed her lips, Jon can see that she's holding back tears, "Do you really have to go?"

Uncle Aemon gave her a warm smile and caress her cheek, "My place is here at the Night's Watch. There are still people like Sam who need council."

"But I need yours too," Dany whimpered, "Jon and I need you."

Uncle Aemon shook his head, "You are so brave, my child. So brave and strong, you have survived many things without any council. You don't need me, but you may need this," Uncle Aemon fished something out of his pocket and took her hands to place it in hers.

Dany opened her hand, to see that it's her clan's sigil! The metal three-headed dragon shines bright as if heated by a dragon itself.

"Just because your name is relinquished, doesn't mean that it can erase who you are. Courage my dear, and remember who you are. You are my grand-daughter, and the blood of the dragon," Uncle Aemon said, then he turned to Jon, "As for you my lad," suddenly Ser Barristan was beside him, handing him a mantel and it looks like there is something inside that looks like a sword. "Open it when you are in a room, but I can tell you that that is no ordinary sword."

"Uncle, it's too much," Jon said in dismay, for only people with higher status should receive such gift as honor, "My form is enough to fend us both."

"My child, I have not been able to shift for decades, and I've seen how helpful it is to have that by your side. Besides, it's fitting for the son of my own grandson," he said in delight.

Jon looked at the Old Knight, who gave him a nod of confirmation. Then he turned back to Uncle Aemon, who looked dead serious about this gift. All his life, he was never given the pleasure to receive such thing. Bastards should not receive anything, Lady Catelyn's voice rang. But that was the past, and he is no longer under her control.

And to think that his own kin, his long-lost great-great granduncle would give him such thing warmed his heart, and saddened him at the same time. He just got to meet his kin, and now they may never meet again.

"I.." Jon stuttered as he took the sword from Ser Barristan, "Thank you."

"You will be alright, wherever you both go, I'm certain of it."

"We will," Jon answered, then he turned to Dany to encourage her that they both will be fine too.

But Dany is still lost in her thoughts, her eyes stared hard at the pendant. Jon had seen those eyes before. There is something in her eyes that looks like she's trying to comprehend what just happened, the same way when her name was relinquished.

"My child," Uncle Aemon began, "What is the matter?"

"It's just that…." Dany stuttered, there's sadness in her tone, then she looked up to him. She opened her mouth again, wanting to say something. But she closed it again, tears have fallen freely now, "I wish we had more time."

"My child," Uncle Aemon took her hands to his frail ones, "If we had met all those years ago, I may not be able to keep you safe the way Jon had done for you. There will be rumors on why you wanted to meet me and the whole clans will know of my existent, Robert would've wanted you dead instead of alive. Mayhaps in another world, we could have had more time, but in this world, we are living, the time we have together is the greatest gift I've ever had in my whole life. I cannot be more proud to have you as my granddaughter."

Dany's lips twitch a bit, "Even if she was a beggar princess?"

"No matter what happens, my child," Uncle Aemon assured him, "You resisted the temptation of turning mad like your father, and here you are. Alive and married, what more can an old man as for?"

Dany looked down at their tangled hands and smiled, "And I'm so happy that I got to see you."

"And I you, Daenerys," Uncle Aemon gently said, then he turned to Jon, "My boy, my eyes cannot see you, but I can feel your pride radiating in you. A presence of a dragon awaits in you," he slowly pointed his finger on his chest, "You have a heart of a true warrior and a natural leader."

Jon blinked, "Leader? I am not a Leader, I'm just a…."

"Not yet," Uncle Aemon interrupted, "That depends on which path you take."

"I just want us to be safe, that's all. To be how it was before all this madness, and so that we can all live in peace again," Jon protested without raising his voice.

"You are a good man, Jon," Uncle Aemon didn't seem to listen, "But you are too concerned with what was and what will be. There is a saying, yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift. That is why it is called the present."

Jon blinked at his statement, he felt something warm in that statement, "But it has hardly anything to do with me being a leader."

"That is why I said that it depends on which path you choose today," the old man clarified for the young man, "It all starts from here, my boy."

"I…..I don't understand," Jon stuttered, what does he mean? He made it clear that he ever wanted is peace for his home so that things are back to the way it was.

"You will one day, you will," Uncle Aemon smiled, "The time will come when you have to choose what is right and what is easy."

"Yes, sire," Jon could only nod, he's unsure what he meant, but for the sake of his old uncle, he'll just have to comply.

"Maester Aemon," Samwell interrupted, "The ship is about to leave soon."

The old man nodded, and the two young cubs can feel that farewell is imminent Their uncle nodded, "I pray for both of your safety," his voice turned so very frail, "We will see each other again, one day."

Jon felt like that last sentence was so that he can make them all feel better, but he tried his best to convince himself that they'll one day meet again. He pursed his lips, "Aye, we will."

Uncle Aemon smiled, there's a small tear running from his eyes, "I am so happy that our family survives, and with a new generation," then he turned to Ser Barristan, "Watch over them, my friend."

The Old Knight bowed, "With my life," then he turned to Sam, "Take care of our Maester."

"Of course, sire," Sam grunted. And at that, Sam and Uncle Aemon walked out of the ship. Jon began to realize that this is the last time he's going to be in Westeros until who knows how long, and the same goes to Ser Barristan and Dany. Beside him, Dany looked as if she could break down any moment as she locked eyes with her Uncle as he walked out of the ship. He wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her closer, she then snaked her arms around him.

The captain shouts, "Hoist the sails!", the flags spread gracefully and caught the wind. The ship ladder was lifted, not enabling anyone to leave or enter the ship anymore. Uncle Aemon and Sam watched as the ship moves forward, they waved the three of them goodbye. The three of them did the same, this goodbye is one of the hardest after Arya's, and they only just met yesterday. Dragons are truly magical.

The ship began to sail a little faster as two oars at the bottom deck emerged from a hole and rowed the boat, making the two people on the port look smaller now as they go further into the next country. Until we meet again, the white wolf silently said, to his pack, and to his uncle.

"Best you get some rest, cubs," Ser Barristan finally broke their moment, "Especially you, Jon. You've been up all night to get here. Come, I'll take you to where you can rest tonight."

Jon nodded, he wouldn't really say he is very tired since Melisandre had allowed them to sleep in her odd tree. He looked at Dany to see if she too needs rest, her face is just…. Longing. He pulled her closer to him, "Let's go."

She only nodded and the cubs followed the Old Knight.

Most transport ships don't have rooms, but for some reason, this ship does. Perhaps it's not for many people to board as well. Ser Barristan brought them to a small room, it's not as big as Jon's room back in Winterfell but it'll do for the time being. It's even more simple, just an average-sized bed with two pillows and a small window.

"It's just for a few days, cubs," Ser Barristan murmured softly to them, "We are lucky that this ship is much better than others."

"Where will you be?" Dany asked.

"I'll be in the next room, call for me if you need anything," he said, "And one more thing, do not discuss anything about your time in Winterfell. If you even have any questions related to that, keep it until we reach Essos," he softly whispered, "We don't want to raise any suspicions to these few crews here. I know these people, but I don't believe they've ever seen a lady aboard a ship for a while."

At the mention of that, Jon took Dany's hand and squeezed it. The thought of someone harassing her made his blood boil, "I will."

"Good, now, get some rest. Good night cubs," he whispered.

Just as he was about to close the door, Dany calls him, "Ser Barristan."

"Yes?" the Old Knight asked.

"Thank you for bringing my uncle here to spend time with me," She meekly said, there is sincerity in her tone.

The former Kingsguard smiled, "It's my pleasure." And at that, he closed the door and left them both alone.

Jon dropped their packs down, rummaging through their clothes. If Arya really did pack for them, she did quite a good job on it, shocking him. His sister is never into domestic things, perhaps Melisandre was there to help?

He first fished out Dany's sleeping clothes before his, he had been with her for a long time to memorize what she wore at night.

When they finally changed, they lied on the bed together, holding each other even though they are already covered with blanket. Jon stroked her arm gently, hoping that she'd sleep. As for Jon, he didn't really feel tired as he stared at the wall. If anything, he only felt… anxious, a lot of thoughts in his mind. It's as Maester Aemon said, he's unsure of his new journey now. Will Essos have a new pack? Will they accept him? When will their life be back to the way it was?

"Can't sleep?" Dany murmured, he can feel her breath on his chest.

Jon didn't hesitate to admit, "Aye."

"Me too."

"Something on your mind?" She hid deeper into his chest and sighed. Not answering his question. Jon hugged her closer to him, "You can tell me anything."

She nods, "How are you feeling? Leaving your home behind?"

Jon smiled, he tucked some of her hair to her ears, "I do miss home, but I'd gladly leave if it's for the best. For you, me, and the pack. But living in Essos, I admit it sounds a little strange, but I'll give it a try. Perhaps I can re-establish myself there."

Dany looked up at him, "What will we do while we wait until everything is back to the way it used to be?"

"We'll just have to find out when we get there," Jon assured her.

She sighed and tucked her head under his chin, "I wish Uncle Aemon could come with us."

"Me too, love. He seems very wise," he guessed.

"He is," Dany mumbled, "I wish I knew him before."

"We both do," he agreed, "What did you both talk about in the carriage while I was driving?" he looked down to her.

"Many things," she smiled, "My time with Viserys, he insisted me to tell him about my brother. The day when you saved me, the pack, and why we all left."

"Did he know that you can shift?"

She nods, "It's the least for him to know before he….. well….." she looked down, looking sad. Then she hid onto his neck, "I wish he could join us. I can't…." she sobbed, "him… alone in that dreadful castle."

"Hey, it's alright Dany," Jon hushed her, trying to calm her down, "Uncle Aemon had lived long in that place, it's somehow his home now."

"How can that dreadful place be his home," she whimpered, "It's so gloomy and dark, and their so-called brothers… I know he said that he coped living there, but to think that he's there all alone without a family…."

"He's not alone," Jon reassured her, "Sam took good care of him and he looks up to him." Dany didn't seem convinced, she didn't even meet his eyes. Jon thought of something else, "But he looked so happy to see you, I never thought Uncle Benjen would report anything about you to him. I'm glad that he did."

This time, he can feel her lips twitch onto his skin, tickling him, "He asked a lot about you too."

"Did he?"

She nods, and pulled away to meet his eyes, "He asked why I chose you over Robb or that Tyrell elf prince."

She knew, Jon thought. He wondered if it were the great Olenna Tyrell who told her that, after all, she looked like the type of person who'd speak her mind. But he's glad that she did, "and what did you say?"

She stroked his cheek lovingly, her pupils dilated, "The same thing I told you when the elves first came to Winterfell," she simply answered while playing with the curl of his hair with her delicate finger, "The White Wolf who never sees me as the Dragon cub, a loving brother for his half-siblings/cousins, and the one who gave me hope in the dark."

Jon smiled and kissed her eagerly, "I think you were the one who gave me hope in the dark," he murmured against her lips, "You saved me from joining the Night's Watch, saved me from the troubles caused by Theon," she giggled at his remark, making his heart swell, "and making me feel wanted, needed in the pack."

She strokes his stubble, "You are wanted, you are needed, Jon, my husband, my mate," she kissed him again, "I need you, and I love you. So very much, Jon Snow."

Husband, mate, and the name he was always given before knowing that he too is a dragon. Titles were never in his minds to achieve so long that he can prove to every one of his worth, and it was her that made it possible. It all started from doing what he believed what was right, and here he is now. He cannot think of how much Dany had changed his life. Jon cupped her cheek to kiss her deeply, "And I you, love," he murmured and rolled her underneath him, "so very much."

He felt her smile as she wrapped her arms around his neck, just kissing him passionately. Their kiss was a little rough but gentle, and a hint of heat in there. Ever since 'that' night, Jon became bolder to greedily kiss her, and Dany seemed to be fine with it. And at this point, their sloppy kisses have turned very heated, and there is no turning back from this.

"Can you stay silent?" Jon groaned as his length could feel her damp spot between her legs.

"Can you?" she challenged him in a whisper, teasing him with a cheeky grin. This is the side of Dany he had always loved, a happy-go-lucky member of the pack even though she isn't a wolf. Free from any worries or anxieties. And that smile he came to love from her, he is grateful how far she has come along.

Their clothes quickly melted away onto the floor, so much for changing to their night garments. Soon enough, they were both naked as the day they were born, except for one thing. When he pulled her shirt off, his eyes caught the silver pendant that Uncle Aemon gave her. He gently picked it up from her pail chest, and admired it for a while, "Our clan's sigil," Dany breathlessly said.

"It suits you," he placed it back on her chest gently and began kissing her neck, "A pure dragon of the 7 Kingdoms and all the clans of Westeros," That's what she is, a dragon that saved his pack, and the last of the pure dragons. His fingers began trailing down to her navel and then what's between her legs, finding that spot again.

"And so are you….." she trailed off with a gasp when he began rubbing her nub, "Oooo…" she could not finish her sentence as Jon continues stroking her, first gently, then his pace picked up, earning a shudder from her. Ever since their first night together, Jon had begun to love the new sounds she makes.

"Shhhh, stay quiet," Jon teasingly scolds her, earning a giggle in return. He continued kissing her lips to silence her moans, forcing his tongue to meet hers. He swallowed her whimpers and linked his other hand with hers above her head, she feels so warm against his chest it's as if a fire is ignited in her body.

His finger worked on her nub furiously, rubbing and pinching it lightly before entering his index finger into her wet folds slowly. Dany squirmed underneath him, throwing her head back and gasped hard, breaking their kiss. Jon could sense that she's very close, her moans spurred him forward and her began panting. He released her hand and cupped her cheeks so that she faced him and kissed her lips again, forcing his tongue in her. His other hand curled inside her, making her cry out into his mouth as she shattered.

He groaned into her mouth as he felt her walls tightened around his finger, and she began to come down from her high, he trailed down to her navel and down to her folds and lapped the gush of wetness pouring out of her core like a hungry wolf, ensuring that none is wasted.

"Jon," Dany breathlessly pleaded, threading her fingers onto his locks.

"I know," Jon murmured at her core, loving how he made her feel. After licking her folds, h sucked the remaining wet of her leftovers on his finger and stared at her, his mate's pupils were blown wide. Wanting to be close, he hovered over her small body and found her mouth in his soon, Dany spread her legs wider, giving him a silent invitation. He gently positioned his aching length to her folds, she let out a desperate moan, "Hold still," he whispered as he slipped into her a little too fast.

Dany immediately lunged for his mouth and wrapped her arms around his neck, knowing that she might not be able to hold back her cries as Jon began rocking gently. Jon can't help but notice how perfect they fit together, pure dragon fire ignites in their bodies, so warm and right and complete. He prayed that no one would hear them having their moment together, they both need this. After driven away from the pack by the Lions, ostracized by their own pack, escaping from them, and from their home entirely, the least they can have from there is the love they formed in Westeros.

"I love you," Jon groaned with desire and love as he can feel her walls about to tighten, "We will… never be apart. Ever again."

"I love you too, Jon," she gasped, hurtling over the edge, "Jon," she softly cried as she shattered.

Jon immediately sealed her lips with his, helping her to stay quiet as they both reached their peak. Milking his seed inside her.

They collapsed in a heap of warm skin and sweat. Dany gently stroked his back, and her other hand massaged his scalp, another new habit she had developed. Jon kissed her cheek and dropped to her side, panting. His mate snuggled close to him, lips giving his chest light kisses, especially to his scars.

Jon pulled her closer to his chest, having her face on his heart, "I'm here, my love," he whispered to her, "I'm here," he reminded her again, feeling as if he needs to reassure to her again after what had happened. The sight of death must've been traumatizing for her.

"You are here," she repeated after him, "Here with me."

"Aye, with you," he kissed her temple.

They stayed like that in that blissful state for a while, admiring the present and forgetting that they are embarking on a new life. Not once did they spoke, just the feeling of them together is enough and the sound of the waves filling the room is calming their hearts and minds.

Until Dany breaks the silence, "Good night, Jon," her eyes are closed already.

"Sweet dreams, love." And they both fell asleep as the ship sailed to Pentos.

Life on a boat isn't foreign to Jon and Ser Barristan, but it is for Dany. She had never traveled on a ship or had any luxury to admire the clear blue ocean in an open sky. And it's definitely much warmer than Westeros, she had been used to the cold that being under the sun without cloud seems strange. It truly is a new experience for her!

The crew members did not suspect them either. They only minded their own business, occasionally asking where they are headed to but rarely about who were they. All they ever did was do their ship duties, ensuring that all goes well. Perhaps it's because the crew only consisted of 5 people and the captain kept barking them orders, so they don't interact much.

At some point, Jon opened the gift that Uncle Aemon gave him. The sword that is carefully wrapped, he carefully unwrapped it in his room and Dany watched him. When all wrappings are off, Dany gasped.

"A Valyrian sword," She whispered in awe.

And it's true. The blade is nothing like he had ever seen before, the smooth and rough-looking edges, the bright steel blades, and the pomell….. it has a dragon head.

"Blackfyre," he murmured. He is grateful that he paid attention to Arya's ranting about Targaryens, the fact that he is now possessing the very thing that he had read about in his lessons made him feel grateful and in awe. His hands are even shaking just thinking about, thinking that he might cut himself from a small careless caress of it.

"It suits you," Dany mentioned.

"Aye," he believed her as he wrapped the sword again, hiding it from the world. No one needs to see that strangers are possessing the ancient sword, he'll try it out once they reach their new home.

By the fourth night, the ship has arrived at Pentos. The city looked packed, but otherwise, it's not as bad as it seems.

The ship docked and the travelers finally set foot on the port of Essos. Dany is grateful that before they left Winterfell, she suggested Jon to pack thinner clothes because she read about the climate of Essos and it's not as cold as the North.

And apparently, it is very warm. Dany wore a sleeveless dress to keep her cool, and Jon and Ser Barristan wore light clothing. No armors and just plain grey travel attires, making Dany feel uncomfortable.

"Come with me, cubs," Ser Barristan indicated and the cubs followed him. Dany held on Jon's hand as the Old Knight is bringing them somewhere. She took the time to scan her new home, it has fewer trees than Westeros and it's very sunny. Perhaps it's a good sign? The place is a little crowded as well, swarming with people. There are several shifters as well, but their forms are very different than the ones in Westeros and the ones in the books. There were jaguars, cheetahs, and even stranger creatures, a man with goat legs and some with horse's body. What a different world! When they passed them, not many took a second glance at them. They truly minded their own business. Dany wondered if they had ever seen a dragon, she put that thought later and concentrate on where they were being led to.

After walking out of the port, Ser Barristan leads them to an empty road, and in that particular road, there is a carriage. There stands a bold fat man with a very fancy white and blue garment, calmly watching them.

As they got closer, Ser Barristan called out, "Varys."

"Barristan, my old friend," the bold man laughed and spread his arm, "Welcome back my old friend."

"Thank you," then the Old Knight turned to Jon and Dany, "My Prince and Princess, meet Lord Varys. He is the one who helped me find a place to stay at the time being."

"Ahh yes, of course," Varys exclaimed exasperatedly, "Where are my manners, forgive this old vulture. I am Varys, some call me the Bird Whisperers, but Varys will do just fine," he bowed, "At your service my liege. And welcome to Pentos."

"Thank you for helping us, Varys," Dany said, "It has been trying these days."

"As a matter of fact, it is," the Bird Whisperers agreed, "That is why I left to stay in Pentos with a friend who provided me to stay and for you two. Come, we have much to discuss with Maester Illyrio," he gestured politely for them to enter the carriage.

The three shifters complied and entered the transport. Varys got in last, and he knocked the wall to indicate the driver to go.

"Now," Varys cleared his throat, "As much as I want to discuss things that has been happening in Westeros, I'd prefer we discuss this with the Maester himself. I suppose it's a rather dull conversation, for now, let's just enjoy your new home and allow me to introduce it."

I want to get to a particular chapter soon, so I hope you like this one ^^
