Hi guys! Here's a new one! Though it's not as long as I used to write because I'm trying to get back to writing again, plus, work is coming at me.
That said. Enjoy :D
By the time they arrived at Illyrio's house, Jon immediately brought Dany to their room, making sure she rests on the bed. Jon decided to go back downstairs to ask the servants to bring her food there.
"Do you have any idea what happened to her?" Ser Barristan asked as Jon closed the door to leave for the kitchen.
The young shifter pursed his lips, it wouldn't hurt to tell him, he'll probably give them better advice, "Ser," He stuffed his hands in his pocket as they walked downstairs, "This is just my findings, I'm not certain yet. But," he sighed, "I think Dany might be with cubs."
The Old Knight blinked, clearly his old mind is processing this information. Jon nervously looked up at him, waiting for his response. He feared that he would be upset for their carelessness to bring cubs into the world at this state, but didn't regret it though. Last time, he thought that he must never have one, but to share something together, a legacy with their blood together, with Dany is something indescribably wonderful.
"Oh," Ser Barristan mumbled, "I suppose congratulations are on their way…"
He nodded, "thank you, but I'm not yet certain."
"I suppose you want me to call a Maester to inspect her?"
"Aye," Jon said, "Just to be sure."
"Understandable," he said, "If that's the case, I would prefer an elder female servant to inspect her."
Jon blinked at his suggestion, "Why?"
"Words cannot spread that she is with child," he explained, "I don't know why, but I fear that there may be spies lurking. Watching us."
The young man is astounded to hear this, they have been careful! How could anyone tail them? Did the people at Castle Black rat them out? "How is that even possible?"
The old mentor looked left and right, careful that no one is to hear their conversations, "To be completely honest, I do not trust Varys," he explained, "In a few more days he will be leaving for King's Landing," he said.
"What?" Jon's eyes widened, even the name of the place itself made the hair at the back of his neck stand, "How am I just hearing this now? What business does he have with the Lions?"
"Tywin wants to announce that from now on, anyone who allies themselves with you or Daenerys must face him," he looked at him dead serious, "It seems that he's set to banish you both for good."
"Why?" Jon protested, what did he and Dany ever do? And if that's true, this means that he may not be able to go back ever to the pack. His old life can never come back! And what of his pack who raised him? His family? "What did we ever do to have such a warrant?"
"Again, the name of the Dragons is quite a touchy subject for the Lions," he said, "I suppose he sees every descendant of Aerys as mad like him. The man has turned paranoid over any dragons….or in this case, anyone taking the throne."
"Damn it," Jon gritted his teeth, "And what of the pack?"
He shook his head, "I haven't received any letters from Benjen," he said, "Even if he did send something, it'll go straight to Illyrio first, so I may need to be with him at all times so that no one can intercept the letter."
"What are the chances?"
"If Benjen's panther friends can keep their mouths shut, we might be safe," he said, "Last I spoke to Benjen, is that he had to bribe. And that was before you both came to Castle Black. But after that little show you gave back there," he glared at the young men, making him gulp, "Let's just pray that they will abide by their promises."
Jon felt a little guilty for unintentionally ruining their plan to sneak them out back then, but what choice did he have? Perhaps he should've stayed his temper, but they were threatening Dany and were close to touching her! How can he allow that to happen?
He sighed, "What's done is done. This time, we are going to have to be more careful," Ser Barristan said, "I'll speak to Illyrio tonight, see if he can gain connections for information about Westeros aside from Varys. Though I doubt that it could happen right away if he said business isn't going well at his side."
At the mention of business, he remembered something that he wanted to do back at the warehouse, "About that," he mentioned, making his mentor look at him, "I'd like to volunteer to be his runner."
"Why is that?"
"I just….I don't think that man wants anything for free," he answered, "I've learned that men like him want something in return, and we are, in a way, free riding in his place."
"Don't be worried, your father gave us enough coins to pay him…."
"That's what I'm worried about," he said, "We don't know how long we will stay here, and who knows that we are here. If people find out that my father is sending me and Dany money for accommodation, the pack will be under suspicion again, I can't let that happen."
Ser Barristan hummed, "Fair point. And with your shortened white fur, you might be able to camouflage with the other shifter dogs. I'll try to speak with Illyrio about this, but are you sure you want to do this while she may be carrying your cubs?"
"I'm not certain either, before I suspect of her state, she wasn't against the idea. But now," he sighed, "I don't want to leave her alone. Not if her state is like this."
"I see," the Old Knight looked at him understandingly, "Alright, why don't you have a servant see to her? I'll have to go check on a few things with the securities here."
Jon nodded and both shifters parted from there.
The White Wolf went to the kitchen and found a somewhat young woman working in the kitchen, it looks like she is cleaning some vegetables from where she sat. "Pardon me, my lady," she looked up, looking at him curiously as she stopped whatever she was doing. She looks nice. Jon had never asked or requested a lot from servants, even back in Winterfell. So to actually ask for help from them, to know that there is someone who will be willing to oblige to his request feels odd, "My mate seems ill, I'm wondering if you can see to her."
"Oh," she said with curiosity, "Is there something wrong with her?"
"It seems that her head is hurting, she just vomited about an hour ago," he recalled, "I'd like to know if there is something that makes her feel this way."
The young woman nodded, she stood up and placed the vegetable and knife on the table. Her red eyes looked at him kindly, "I'll do what I can to see what she needs."
Jon nodded, "Thank you."
"In the meantime," she added, "Will it be alright if you wait outside when I inspect her? I believe that it must be between women when it comes to these discussions."
"Certainly, my lady."
"Thank you," and at that, they both left the kitchen for their chambers. While walking, Jon had this hunch when he was talking to her, that she has somewhat a familiar presence of something mysterious. He just couldn't pinpoint what it is.
Dany was lying on the bed, sighing to herself, what is wrong with me?
She had never felt this sick, so why did this happen? And in the middle of their practice? She felt bad to interrupt their training, Ser Barristan must've had something prepared for them, and now it all needs a delay because of her.
A knock then came to the door, "Pardon me, my princess," a sound of a woman, "Lord Jon sent me, may I enter?"
"Yes," Dany sat up, not wanting to look disheveled in front of her. That was fast, did this house have its own Maester?
The woman entered, but she looked more like the servants in the house rather than Maesters. She bowed, "It is a pleasure to finally meet you in person, Lady Daenerys."
Dany felt uncomfortable with someone saying her full name, the fear when she was on the run all those years ago kicked in, "Oh, please, mam. You don't have to call me that."
"Why you don't have to worry, my lady," she walked towards the table next to their bed, pouring a glass of water, "For I do not sense your enemies nearby, you and the prince will be safe. I have assured it when Melisandre told me of your coming."
Dany's eyes widened at the mention of the very name who could give her fear, mystery, and comfort. She stared at her red eyes, similar eyes to Melisandre. The woman seems different but gave out the same aura as the seer python, "Who are you?"
"I am Kinvara, one of the Priestess off Essos, your Grace. Another kind of the Seer," she bowed respectfully, "We have been waiting for your arrival for a hundred years since the Lord of Light sealed the last Dragon. When Melisandre told us that you and Prince Jon finally met, we knew that the time of the Dragons will come again."
The young Dragon cub looked at her with shock, "You've...been waiting for… us? Here?"
"Not exactly," she chuckled and handed her the mug of water, to which Dany obliged and took from her offer, "More to…. alerted. Preparing for your arrival."
"Oh," She looked down, "But why? We are only here as refugees."
"So they say," she hummed, seemingly to ignore her claim, to which it somehow annoyed her. People like Melisandre are always withholding information, "So," she began, "Your mate told me of your little incident."
Dany admittedly nodded, "He just worries, but I'm certain I'm fine."
"Of course," the Seer calmly said, "from where I can see now, you and your cubs are healthy."
"I...what?" Dany's heart leaped at the mention of cubs.
She nodded unsurprisingly as she stared at her stomach in content, "I do not need to inspect you to know that you are coming along well and healthy. I sensed two little lives inside you when I got here," she said delightedly, "My, what an exciting time to be for you, cubs. Oh, perhaps, no longer cubs. Honestly, I'm still confused why the North still calls you 'cubs'."
"No, wait," Dany panicked, "But that's not possible!"
"Whether you do not believe it or not, two healthy cubs are growing inside you now," Kinvara sat beside her, "You are going to be a mother of two dragonwolves."
"But…." I don't know how to be a mother, she wanted to say. She doesn't even know what it's like to have a mother, not even knowing how to raise a cub while they are all on the run. This is the worst timing to be with a child. What will Jon even think?
The Red Priestess seems to be able to sense her discomfort, she placed her hand on hers, "My Princess," she broke her panic mind, "I do not believe that it is bad to have cubs now, in fact, I think it's a perfect time."
Dany felt like crying, "But.. we are not protected," she swallowed the lump in her throat, "I'm still a prey to Tywin, how can I even protect us?"
"As I said, we knew this would happen," the Seer's eyes then turned yellow, then back again to red, shocking Dany, "When we sensed the presence of enemies' spies, we were able to keep them away from you."
The Princess looked at her in confusion, "How?"
"The same way Melisandre saved you from the Freys," she chuckled haughtily, not seeming to want to share any more details, "However, that's as far as we can go. As of now, spies are the least of your worries. Besides, you are a dragon. A mere lion doesn't concern you, you have more to come along the way."
Dany didn't know what she was talking about, but one thing for sure is that she's having two cubs. She still felt in shock at this revelation that the other riddles are thrown out the window, "I… I don't know what to do. What will Jon even think?"
"Why don't we ask him himself," Kinvara then looked up to the door, "Come now, Prince Jon. You do not have to eavesdrop anymore."
As if on cue, the door creaked open, revealing a somewhat sheepish Jon, looking as if caught red-handed. Dany suddenly felt nervous, he has been listening to us all this time?
"I assume you knew who I was the moment you stepped into that kitchen," Kinvara said calmly.
"Aye," he said, "You may have dressed like the servants here, but I sensed something different in you," Jon confessed.
"How amusing," she chuckled, "As Melisandre said, your senses have doubled. The dragon inside you has truly awakened. No matter," she stood up, "I am happy to temporarily have served you for a moment, but my task here is done. I shall be away."
"We won't see you again?" Dany asked.
"Mayhaps soon," Kinvara smiled at her, "I cannot intervene what the Lord has paved the path for you two, I am only his servant for you," she answered, "If I intervene, the Song of Ice and Fire cannot be fulfilled and we will all be back to square once again."
Of course, she speaks in riddles again, she sighed, but it seems that's the nature of nearly all snakes.
"Now," she raised her voice, "I believe you both have something to discuss together. Excuse me, Your Graces. Until we meet again." And at that, Kinvara left the room, and soon enough, her presence disappeared as well.
"I can't sense her anymore," Jon said, "It's like with Melisandre back at that tree."
"Hmmm," Dany's mind is already elsewhere, she stares blankly at the wall.
"Dany," Jon called her, "Are you alright?" Dany stayed silent, still nervous about the revelations that she's carrying cubs inside her. She braced herself believing that Jon might get mad at her.
But instead, he got down to his knees and kneeled between her legs. Then, he wrapped his arms around her waist and placed his ear on her belly, "I heard we are going to have new companies." Dany nervously smiled and placed her hands on his neck as she leaned down and kissed his head. She hopes it's enough for him to say that they truly are having cubs. Jon then looked up at her in content, "Are we?"
Dany nervously nodded, "Yes."
Jon then gave her a wide smile and leaned up to kiss her lips, "Why that's wonderful, Dany" he then proceeds to kiss her stomach through the fabrics of her silk dress, "And she said two lives, so we are getting twins?"
Dany blinked at his response, "You…..you're not mad?"
He looked up at her, the smile still plastered on his face, "Why would I be mad? Don't you want to have them?"
"Yes," she immediately said, "But….I'm just afraid that…."
"Hey," he stood up and sat beside her, "What's wrong?"
"We are on the run, Jon," she said, "Is this the right time to have them when we are both on the run like this?"
"And here we are," he pulled her so that he can rest his chin on her head, "We'll be alright. We'll raise them the best as we can, after all, we are dragons."
Dany sighed in relief of his enthusiasm and optimism, her worries too began to fade. She buried her face on his chest, "then I'm glad that you want them too."
"Why wouldn't I want them? They are ours, the product of our love," Jon said, "Long ago, I thought I could never have any pups until you came along. And, here we are."
"Hmmm, here we are," she ghosted her hand on her belly, "And I'm glad that they are yours too."
She felt his chest rumble before he kissed the top of her head, "I can't wait to meet them both."
"You knew about them before, didn't you?" Dany asked, the way he was so paranoid made sense now.
"I had a hunch," he smiled at her, "But I was still unsure, your scent was different. That's why I just wanted to be sure."
She pulled away from him to look into his grey eyes, wanting to know his honesty, "you're not afraid?"
"Oh, believe me, I bloody am," he laughed, "I don't even know how to be a Father or to raise a family. But," he nuzzled her shoulder, "We know what it's like to be raised in a loving pack, I think we'll be alright." Dany smiled at his reassurance, now, she felt her last tension faded away knowing that Jon wanted the cubs, "Are you not happy about this?"
"I'm afraid," she said, growing up with an unhealthy childhood, she worries that she won't be able to protect her cubs or be a good mother for them all.
"We'll be alright," he kissed her forehead and pulled her closer to him, "Don't worry, we'll raise them together. You won't be alone."
Dany nodded, feeling content with his reassurance, "Thank you."
"Thank you," Jon replied back, "From giving me cubs to raise. You'll be an amazing mother."
She smiled and moved up to kiss his cheek, "And you'll be a great father," and continued to stay in his embrace, loving the idea of having little ones running around the house. Or when they go back to the pack.
Moments later, there was a soft knock on the door, "Your Graces?" It's Ser Barristan.
The couples perked up at the rap, "Come in."
The door opened and their mentor entered, "I didn't know which servant you called, they all seemed to be confused when I asked. Did you even called for one as I told you?"
Jon chuckled at their mentor's confusion, it seems that any Red Priests would not leave their trails behind.
Dany smiled at him, "Yes, Ser. A servant came to see me."
"And?" he closed the door and took a chair next to the bed and sat on it, "What did she say?"
Jon looked down at Dany and she in turn looked back at him, both having a silent agreement to tell him as they smiled at each other. Dany then turned back to Ser Barristan while caressing her belly, "I'm with child."
"Ahh," Ser Barristan hummed in a little shock on his face before coughing, "My, congratulations, Your Graces," he said genuinely, "This must've been a shock and a good surprise. At least, for my part that is."
"Yes," she smiled, "It is a good surprise, but unexpected. Especially in times like this."
He chuckled, "Your mother said the same thing before," he said, making her heart leap at the mention of her mother, "She too was fearful when King Aerys was at his turning point, and she feared for you and your brother's well-being. But...here we are."
She nodded, "Viserys didn't really make it through," Jon sensed her discomfort and slowly rubbed her arm up and down.
"No one can blame him for what he had been through or his actions," he leaned closer, "the situation turned him mad, though I wish things would've turned out differently on his madness."
"But that's not an excuse for him to turn against his own sister," Jon protested.
"His pride must've been hurt badly after being told that he'll be king, only to be called the beggar king instead," Ser Barristan countered, understanding both sides, "But the past is the past. A prince should not look back, only ahead."
Jon sighed, "Yes, ser."
"Now, back to the situation. I thought of something. Just because you carry a babe in your stomach, doesn't mean you are off the hook, young princess," the Old Knight clapped, "From what I know, a pregnant shifter must not turn a moon after. So that gives you a few weeks to get comfortable in your skin. I would prefer you still learn while the child isn't growing yet. Of course, should things get a little too much for you, you can take a break."
Dany nodded, "I understand."
"And as for you, young lad," he turned to Jon, "Your training will intensify."
"Pardon me?" Jon blinked.
"I have decided that you will join the runner of Ser Illyrio for three days. This is so that you don't forget your own training with Lord Benjen and Ser Rodrik, you don't want to forget your training when a fight breaks out. And seeing that your sweetheart is with child, you are going to have to keep your guard up, because once the cub's growing a lot, she's can't shift to defend herself."
He nodded, "I understand."
"Don't worry, your little running won't take you the whole day of course," he cleared his throat, "After all, you will still be training every day with me. I'll ensure that you'll be trained into a proper warrior."
Jon shifted uncomfortably, "Yes, Ser."
Their mentor straightened his back, "Best we don't tell anyone of your state first after a moon, or we'll only shock everyone. Let's wait until Varys leaves, then we'll tell Illyrio." The couples nodded, "Alright, then. Once again, congratulations to you both."
"Thank you," Dany said.
He nodded, "Get some rest, today's news must've been shocking for you. I'll ask the servants here to prepare our supper, I'll leave for a bit to talk with Illyrio on the running. Remember, not a word to anyone about this."
"Yes, ser," the two of them replied.
Satisfied with their answers, Ser Barristan left the couples on their own.
"Well, that went better than expected," Jon grumbled while pulling her down on the bed so that they can lay down together, "Can't believe the old man is making me train some more."
"It shouldn't be that bad," she giggled as she snaked her arms around his neck, "Take it as if we are back at Winterfell. Like everything is as it was."
"Hmm," he nuzzled her neck and nipped it, earning a soft moan from her.
"Behave yourself, my 'Lord'," Dany pulled his hair so that she can look at his Stark grey eyes. But he dove to her lips and pushed her to a searing kiss, his tongue plunged deep in her mouth tangling with hers. Dany made no effort to push him away as she herself is enjoying the moment, wrapping her arms around his neck to deepen the kiss. Gods, they haven't done this since their travel here, and all they ever did was keep their hands to themselves, afraid that they may wake the entire house.
But now, knowing that they are on their own in the house, their silent policies about sleeping together were thrown out the window. It has been so long they were able to touch like this, there was a doused fire ready to light up. There's no turning back.
Jon's hand began to explore her dress, pulling its lace and gently slipping her off from it until her chest is bare. He then broke their kiss to take his shirt off and moved down to her neck, nipping her skin until she let out a squeak, and it seems to delight him, "Jon," she sighed, "What if someone comes in?"
"No one will," he continued kissing down her body, "Even if they will, well...they'll knock, and," he looked up at her with a smug grin on his face, "I'll just have to hurry." The way his eyes turned dark made her shudder, his eyes are always so intense, it showed how much he's into this and paying so much attention to her.
His mouth stopped between her breast, and oh so slowly, he moved towards one breast as his other hand snaked up to hold the other one. He kissed the side of her mound then to her nipple, closing his mouth, and swirl his tongue around it until they ached and stiffen. The other hand followed as he thumbed her nipple, making sure it has a similar treatment.
Dany whimpered as her nerves began to spike at his touch, growing wet for him. He was always gentle towards her, and she loves that about him. Even when they are making love, she can tell he was being careful. The way his tongue swipes slowly, and his fingers playing with her breast, was driving her mad for him. His touches are enough to give her waves of pleasure, her hand ran through his hair, "Jon….emmm….."
"I know, love," Jon murmured, still busy with her breast before turning to the other one, "You are so beautiful."
She swore his words can make her shatter already, adding to the way he was fondling with her breast and tweaking her nipples.
His mouth then traveled down south slowly, kissing her skin along the way, until she can feel him breathe between her legs. His puffs alone are enough to make her shiver, all her body is burning up, like fire ready to light up. Her mate kissed her inner thigh and slowly nearing her entrance. Once he reached there, he planted a kiss on the nub before slowly flicking it with his tongue.
The white dragon gasped as her nerves began to react from his wicked tongue. Oh, Jon is definitely good at this, she had to cover her mouth to prevent crying out loud. If only they aren't alone, she won't be holding back her cries.
"Don't hold back, darling," Jon murmured between his lappings, "We're alone."
"But….Mmmmm….your tongue…...oohhh….. is…...wicked," she managed to pant out. What she said must've stroke his ego, for, at the next moment, his finger slipped inside her entrance and his tongue began flicking her vigorously, as if the wolf side of him sprang out. She gasped at the sudden change of pace and tried to control her breathing, but whatever he's doing is fueling the fire inside her. Closing her to the edge.
Another strong stoke of his tongue, he successfully shattered her. Her entrance gushing out like spilled water, and her mate was obliged to lap them all, ensuring none is gone to waste.
Dany was controlling her breathing, her heart is beating like crazy. How can he do this to her? Not that she's complaining, but it's amazing.
"Are you alright, Dany?" She didn't realize that he crawled back up to her, meeting twilight grey eyes that she always love. She can feel his hard length on her thighs, aching for warmth. Gods, she didn't even notice that he shucked his pants as well.
"Yes," she managed to breathe out, "Just...catching my breath."
He nodded before he shifted a little until his length is poking her entrance, making her moan, "May I?" She stared at his loving eyes and nodded. At her permission granted, he softly kissed her. And while being lost in the kiss, he finally entered her easily, filling her all the way to the hilt.
Dany broke the kiss in a gasp and threw her head back as her eyes rolled back. Oh, how she missed this. It was all pleasure, their body just fits so right.
She felt him stroke her hair, "Are you alright? Should I stop?"
"No," She immediately said, pulling her closer to him and nuzzled his shoulder, "I'm alright. I'm fine."
He kissed her forehead and then her mouth before withdrawing a little and gave her a firm push back, making them both moan in pleasure, no longer is she feeling pain. Jon repeated the motion, gently and slowly as if making sure not to break her. She unconsciously strokes his cheek before bringing his lips back to hers as they both swallowed each other's sounds coming out from their mouths.
"I love you," Jon groaned between their passionate kisses, "I love you so very much, my mate, my wife."
"I love you, husband," she panted, "You...ohh….gave me babes."
"You gave me…..everything I never thought I could ever have," he moved a little faster, she can tell he's nearing his edge, and she herself is nearing her peak. He felt his hand slipping between them and found her nub before circling it, giving Dany another wave of pleasure to the point she finally came undone. She hid her face on his shoulder and bit his skin, trying to muffle her moans. Jon did the same as he shoots his seed inside her and buried his face between her shoulder and neck, slowly sinking his teeth on her alabaster skin. Strangely, it didn't feel pain.
Dany rested her head on the bed, feeling tired from their lovemaking. She swore if the two cubs aren't inside her, he could impregnate her again. She had heard how most wolf shifters would keep going until they made sure there is a cub growing in them, but Jon….oh, her Jon, he's always careful with her. Not wanting to go at it lest she's into it. Such a strong and gentle warrior is her mate.
At the mention of that in her head, she felt him slowly carrying her so that her head is laying on the head of the bed, getting her in a proper position to rest. Then, he lied down beside her and pulled the covers for them both. "Are you alright?" he asked.
She nodded, "With you, always."
"Good," he kissed her nose, before closing his eyes, "Sleep, we have time before supper."
"Hmmm," she hummed before pulling him close to her, enjoying the warmth of his skin and his Northen scent. They both then fell into a deep sleep, unintendedly missing their supper. When Ser Barristan came in to remind them, one look at their discarded clothes told him to leave them be. Ahh, to be young and in love. It seems that he'll just ask the servants to prepare their supper later.
The next day, the four of them sat together in the living room, discussing Jon's possible employment ship. But the White Wolf didn't need to go any further to tell him what he's capable of when Illyrio was more than excited to have him as his runner.
"Need no further say, my prince," he said enthusiastically, "You are, afterall, one of the great pack of Winterfell. I have no doubt that you will help me a lot on my slowing business."
Jon blinked, "You don't want to see my strength?"
"Oh please, you are trained under the Kingsguard here," he gestured at Ser Barristan, "I don't need any more proof that you are talented. Besides, even without seeing you shift, your current state shows the power radiating in you. I can feel it, as you pull the carriage of my spices and coming back with chests after chests of gold."
Greedy bastard, Jon sighed. But it can't be helped, this is who he is, "And about payment…."
"Oh, don't worry about it," he said, "Whatever you need here is part of your reward, and if we can get bonuses this month, perhaps you'd get extra coins for me. I'm sorry if I'm treating you like a mere commoner, but this is how our standard of operations work here."
"It's fine," he said, "As long as you cut ties with my father, and we have a place to stay, and we all can be safe, then I'm willing to pay my debt for your kindness in giving us food and shelter."
"No need to thank me," he chuckled, "So long as when you are King, I'd like a reduce on my tax."
"Again, with the King business," he grumbled.
"You might not know it, boy," the fat man grinned, "But over time, you'll find destiny to be quite an interesting concept to think about. As the saying goes, life is full of surprises. I have no doubt that you will surprise me."
Jon hated to say it, but he felt that there's truth to his words. Dany is the proof of his wonderful unexpected, along with the cubs she's carrying. He now prays that they will grow healthy and be born in this world happy, "Alright."
"Now," he clapped, "Why don't you follow me to sign a contract, and we'll have you as our leader of the runner."
"Wait, what? Leader?" There was a surge of confusion yet excitement as well on being trusted to be a leader.
"Oh yes, I have no doubt that you can lead a pack. After all, you are the pack of the great Lord Alpha Stark," he said enthusiastically.
"But I'm not…."
"Oh, don't worry boy. Your mentor here spoke highly of you about the result of your Running exam," Jon turned to Ser Barristan, who looked the other way, avoiding his gaze innocently. This damn old man. "If you can outrun your other pack members, I have no doubt you'll have any problems pulling my spices to the warehouses. Would you like to accept the challenge, my prince?"
The young father sighed, "Alright, tell me what I must do."
"Atta' boy, that's the spirit. In time, I'll show you a thing or two about business," the fat man clapped.
Winterfell
It has been almost a moon since Jon and Dany left Westeros, and it's killing Arya. Her brother and sister are gone, and her study company is also gone. She never thought that two people can make her feel so lonely.
Even her mentor can pick up her distress when she was practicing her sword fight with him at the training grounds, "Hey, pup? Why the long face?"
"It's nothing," she mumbled as she sheaths her rapier she found under Jon and Dany's bed. She found herself carrying that around with pride and joy, it's the only memory of them both.
"Missed your big brother, huh?" he guessed, Arya remained silent ar the correct answer, "Aye, I miss them too. One of my best students."
This made her look up to him, "He was?"
"Oh yes," he looked up the sky proudly, "I was sure he was going to prove everyone wrong, that he can be the fastest runner. His sword skills exceeded my expectations, especially his shifting training. No students of mine ever failed but…." he sighed sadly, "Well, the gods have their reasons, perhaps he'll come back with a new pack with that Dragon cub? Who knows?"
"Do you think so?" she looked up at him curiously.
"Aye, she has that spark like her brother," his eyes looked longing as if seeing a flashback of something. He looked around to see if anyone is at their ears and found none, "All this time when I observe her, young Daenerys has her mother's heart and her brother's determination. If anything, she'd be a great mate for Jon," then he looked at her, "Now, your brother. He may not know it yet, but he has the heart of a leader, just like your father. He may be a runt, but I swear, every time I see him train, I felt like he too can be an Alpha."
That's because he is! She wanted to shout. No one knew about his secret except her, and no one even knew that they are now mates except her. She wanted to tell someone so badly but for everyone's safety, she had to shut up. Oh, when will this be over.
"You know," Ser Rodrik knelt before her, breaking her train of thoughts, "You have the heart of your aunt too, I'm certain you've heard this a lot of times. I have trained her in the past."
Arya's eyes widened, "You did?"
He nodded, "Every time I see you train, you reminded me so much of her. I swear, this place is slowly haunting me of my past students, which is why I am very grateful to meet all of you. So now," he said, "I believe you are ready to take the training that your aunt went through, would you like that?"
The young cub's face lights up with pure joy, the longing heart that built her sorrows began fading a little, slowly replaced with enthusiasm and determinations, "Yes! Yes!"
"That's the spirit," he laughed before standing up, "I'll speak with your uncle and father. See if he agrees."
"Arya," someone called her, interrupting the mentor and student. They both turned to see Margery coming towards them. Her posture looked different to what it used to be, her sister-in-law is always bubbly and happy. But now, it looks like she had been crying.
As she approached, Ser Rodrick asked, "Child, what's the matter?"
The elf swallowed, "It's Lord Alpha Stark, his wounds took the better of him," she sobbed, and her eyes landed on the young pup, "He has passed."
Someone asked for the reveal of the baby dragons now, so there :D Hope you liked it! I had Ghost as a runner kinda like Buck from Call of the Wild where he learns leadership there. Jon too is going to have to learn that :D
I like Kinvara's reveal here, it showed the seer mystic POV of the red priests like Kaa. An Anti Hero.
And RIP Lord Stark. You will be missed.
I got messages where people told me everyone is reluctant to watch House of the Dragons, glad I'm not the only one :p.
Until then! Take care!
Claire.
