Welcome back to The Violet Riddle. Last time, we finally saw what Robert Langdon was up to, receiving some research items and a plane ticket to the Dragon Realms to research for his next book. But just as he was getting ready to start researching new material, he received a phone call from an unknown source, telling him they need to discuss something once he arrived in the Dragon Realms. So, what is going to happen next from all of this? Read on to discover...

(Our story resumes on a plane, flying over the Atlantic Ocean, where one passenger, Robert Langdon, is sitting admittedly uncomfortably, his mind racing trying to keep himself calm despite his claustrophobia, telling himself over and over that this was a quick flight, and flying was quicker than taking a boat, not to mention less expensive. His fear still plays out, but he's good at keeping it under control while in the air. But needless to say, he's relieved when the plane touches down on a small island off the coast, where the Dragon Realms' airport is. From there, it's a simple boat ride to the main city, Warfang. And within a few hours, we see Langdon arrive at his hotel room)

Langdon: (To the desk manager) Hi, I'd like to check in.

Desk Manager: Reservation name?

Langdon: Langdon, Robert.

Desk Manager: (Checks his files) Ah, here you are (Picks a key off the rack behind him and hands it to Langdon) Room 1313 is yours for the duration of your stay. Just don't destroy it.

Langdon: (Taking the key) Thanks.

(And after climbing 13 flights of stairs, Langdon finally arrives in his room, and pretty much throws himself down on the hotel room bed, exhausted from a long journey. But as he does, we transition to the building next door, where Warfang's police are uncovering a grisly scene, the murder of the Guardians as described in the first chapter, overseeing them a very familiar pair of dragons, one violet and one ebony, calling over a pink dragoness heading up the investigation)

Spyro: Any idea what happened here, Ember?

Ember: I honestly have no idea, Sir. It looks like the Guardians were having a meeting, then someone came in here and slaughtered them. But I've never seen this particular method of death before.

Cynder: What do you mean by that?

Ember: There's no external damage to the bodies, but they have no elemental signatures anymore. It's almost as if their very life force was robbed from them by whatever killed them.

Spyro: Are you saying their souls were stolen?

Ember: Or obliterated. And there's only one thing in the world that can do that.

Cynder: (Knowing what it is) Impossible. Unless you insinuate that I did this.

Ember: Of course not, Ma'am. But you know you're not the only one who can use this power.

Spyro: Well it wasn't me either!

Ember: My guess, it was probably some slow acting poison.

Cynder: (Looking over his shoulder) Then what is that?

(At this point, Ember looks over her shoulder, and reveals the orb left when the Guardians were murdered)

Ember: Honestly, we have no idea. Nobody's been able to move it. But, it appears to be radiating runes.

Spyro: Runes?

Ember: Ancient symbols of power. I can't honestly decipher them.

Cynder: (Looking at the orb, which is indeed casting wisps of strainge symbols) I can't make heads or tails of it either.

Spyro: Neither can I. Is there a translator on the force?

Investigator: Tomas is at a seminar on the other end of the country. Won't be back for two weeks.

Cynder: Of all times.

Investigator: And they're the only expert in runes that I know of.

(At this point, a second investigator, a red dragon, perks up and realizes something)

?: I may know someone.

Ember: Well, speak up Flame.

Flame: My cousin is one of his students, and apparently he's come here to conduct research.

Spyro: What's his name?

Flame: Langdon. Robert Langdon.

Cynder: Never heard of him.

Spyro: Me neither, but we need to track him down, urgently.

(At this point, we transition back to back to Langdon's hotel room, where he's taking a quick nap to get rid of jet lag before he goes about his trip. But as he sleeps, we enter his mind, where suddenly he's confronted by a wisp of white energy)

?: Professor Langdon...

Langdon: What the...? (Recognizes the voice) Wait, you're the person who called me before I left! What are you doing in my dreams?

?: The time I told you of has come. Soon you will learn why I needed to contact you.

Langdon: Finally, some answers! Why don't you just tell me here?

?: My power here is limited. But some old friends of mine will be contacting you soon. Soon you will know everything. Now, awaken Professor Langdon, they are about to arrive.

Langdon: Wait, wait! Who are you?!

(At this point, Langdon is jolted awake by a loud sound of drumming in his dream, only to realize it's merely knocking at the door of his hotel room. Steadying himself from whatever just happened, Langdon approaches the door, opening it to reveal Spyro, Cynder, Ember, and Flame)

Cynder: Are you Robert Langdon?

Langdon: (Still a little bit surprised from all of this) Yeah. What's going on?

Spyro: We have a matter of urgent importance that requires your attention. We need you to come with us right away.

(Completely baffled by what's going on here, Langdon adjusts his jacket and steps out with the four dragons as our tale ends for today)

And that looks like a good spot to end for today. So, now Spyro and Cynder have finally met Robert Langdon. And yes, this time they don't know who he is. Considering usually the two dragons know somebody on the investigative team their working with, Cynder knew Kate Callahan from Criminal Minds and Spyro knew Matty Webber from MacGyver, I figured it was about time that this was the first time they meet the guest character. So, it looks like Langdon is needed to translate some runes. But will translating the orb's wisps provide any sort of answers? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
