This is the Finale of the My Gift To You birthday special. Last time, in the archives of the old Swamp Temple, Spyro, Cynder, Ember, Flame, and Robert Langdon examined a pair of scrolls that seem to detail everything about the ritual the deceased Guardians were trying to perform when they were killed. Admittedly, they didn't get a lot because Langdon's ability to translate runes is limited. But now they know to hit the orb left behind with the elements in the correct sequence to begin the quest to recover the gem necklaces the Guardians were wearing when they were killed. So, how does the quest begin? Read on to discover...
(Our scene opens with Spyro, Cynder, Ember, Flame, and Langdon returning to the scene of the Guardians' murder, where the orb they left behind still floats, with the five adventurers standing around it)
Ember: Okay, if Professor Langdon's translation of the scroll is correct, all we need to do is hit this orb with all the Elements, and it'll show us where we need to go.
Spyro: Not exactly, Ember. Remember, it said we need to hit the orb with the Elements in a specific order.
Flame: So? It can't take that long to find the correct combination.
Cynder: With nine Elements, and an obvious no repetition rule, that leaves about 300,000 combinations or so. That'll take us far too long to run through.
(As the dragons discuss this conundrum, Langdon appears to be mulling over something, specifically repeating the riddle the orb gave to himself. But then, he appears to remember something, turning back to the group.)
Langdon: I think I've got it.
Spyro: You think you know the order?
Langdon: We pointed it out while I was still in the hospital.
Cynder: (Honestly not remembering it) We did?
Langdon: Yeah. Remember that series of random words you capitalized in transcribing the riddle? The ones we all seemed to agree corresponded to different Elements?
Spyro: Yes, but... (Gets it) The riddle told us the order!
Langdon: (Pulling out the transcription of the riddle) Yeah. "Burning", "Cold", "Storm", "Gale", "Dark", "Terror", "Flood", "Toxic", and "Land", in that order.
Cynder: So it seems the correct order of Elements is Fire, Ice, Electricity, Wind, Shadow, Fear, Water, Poison, Earth.
Langdon: That's my guess.
Spyro: Only one way to find out.
(With that, Spyro and Cynder approach the orb, and each unleashes a blast of their respective elements in the order transcribed: Fire, Ice, Electricity, Wind, Shadow, Fear, Water, Poison, and Earth. And just as the Earth blast hits the orb, it starts to glow with each Element's color. As it does, we zoom out a few of the city and surrounding areas from above, revealing nine violet lights lighting up at various points across the map. And as the lights across the city start to fade, the orb shoots out a violet beam, exiting through a nearby window, leaving a trail across the city as it flies towards it's destination. As the beam flies off, our group of protagonists gathers around the window, trying to see where the beam is heading.)
Cynder: Anybody got a bead on that beam?
Flame: Looks like it's heading northwest out of here.
Ember: But where's it heading specifically?
Langdon: To the first Altar of the Elements. I'd guess the Altar of Fire, since that was the first Element in the sequence.
Spyro: Then what are we waiting for? We've got to get moving!
Langdon: I may be in shape, but there's no way I'd be able to run across the entire city as fast as you four can fly.
Cynder: Then hold on, Professor Langdon.
(With that, Cynder throws Langdon onto her back as Flame, Ember, and Spyro take flight out of the open window, following the violet beam as the orb finally fades behind them, ending our tale for today)
