Welcome back to The Violet Riddle. Last time, Spyro and company met up with Mole-Yair, who revealed the location of the first Altar is not far from the old bell where Spyro first unlocked the Earth element. After arriving at the sight, Robert Langdon immediately found the entrance after examining the architecture of the bell tower. So, what awaits at the Altar proper? Read on to discover...

(Our tale resumes deep in a lava tunnel, where Langdon and the others are sweating like crazy.)

Langdon: Looks like we're close. If the amount of sweat on my brow is anything to go by.

Cynder: The Altar should be right at the end of this tunnel.

(And true to Cynder's word, there at the end of the tunnel stands an island with a purple crystal set upon its center, surrounded by a giant pool of lava, with a red gem on a string set upon it.)

Langdon: Looks like we got here as the tunnel filled up.

Spyro: And there's the gem Magmara must've worn!

Cynder: Based on the heat in this room, we don't have much time to get to that gem.

Ember: One of us will have to fly over there and get it.

Flame: Leave that to me.

(With that, Flame spreads his wings and takes off across the lava pool, but he has a bit of trouble getting there as the rising hot air tends to pull him aloft, and the heat is enough to cause him troubles staying conscious. But he pushes through and makes it to the island in the middle of the lava, grabbing the gem necklace as he lands)

Flame: Got it!

Ember: Well get back over here! The lava's rising!

Flame: I almost lost consciousness from the heat getting over here! I'm not sure I'll be able to make it back without taking a dip in the lava!

Spyro: Well now what are we supposed to do?

(At this point, Langdon has been looking around for a solution to this, and soon he realizes what needs to happen.)

Langdon: Spyro, try your Ice breath!

Cynder: (Facepalms) Why didn't we think of that?

Spyro: I have no idea. (To Flame) Hold on!

(With that, Spyro casts a blast of Ice across the lava, blazing a trail towards Flame.)

Spyro: Move quickly, Flame! The ice won't last long!

(Seizing the opportunity, Flame strides across the ice and leaps up to rejoin his fellows in the entrance, gem necklace in his maw)

Flame: (Handing Spyro the gem necklace) One down, eight to go.

Cynder: Now we've just got to figure out where to go next.

Spyro: If I remember the scroll correctly, we need to strike that purple crystal with the next element in the sequence.

Langdon: We're at Fire, so we need Ice.

Spyro: Here goes nothing.

(with that, Spyro releases a blast of Ice straight at the purple crystal. Upon being hit with the frigid air resultant, the crystal reacts, shooting out a beam of light that emerges from the top of the volcano.)

Cynder: No time to lose, we've got to follow that beam! (To Langdon) Better hold on, Professor!

(With that, the group takes off, Langdon holding on to Cynder for dear life as the group flies out of the top of the volcano, following the beam closely this time. But as they exit, we see the familiar cloaked facade of the "false one" awaiting their exit)

?: Good, they've attained the first gem. They shall soon find the next eight won't be so easy...

(And with a final cough, the "false one" takes off after the rest of the group, ending our tale for today)

And that looks like a good place to end for today. Yes the Altar of Fire is sort of a gimme, but I figured one of them had to be, so it might as well be the first. Trust me, the action builds with the next eight Altars. So, that's one of the missing gem necklaces down. How will recovering the next one go? Tune in next time to start finding out! Same time... same channel!
