Welcome back to The Violet Riddle. Last time, our heroes came face to face with the Altar of Fire, and retrieved the first gem necklace. And as soon as the violet gem at its center was struck with the element of Ice, a beam shot out of it, leading to the Altar of Ice, with our heroes following swiftly, not wanting to lose it like they did the last one. But just as they left, the "false one" was waiting for them, following them as they left. So, what awaits as our heroes chase the beam? Read on to discover...

(Our story resumes in the skies over the Dragon Realms, with Spyro, Cynder, Ember, Flame, and Robert Langdon flying through the scene, with Langdon admittedly being carried by Cynder. But it's clear for a moment that Cynder's having trouble carrying him at this point, which Spyro notices, and directs the group to land on a nearby island, allowing everybody to rest despite letting the beam get away from them.)

Spyro: Keep a close eye on that beam, we need to know where it's going.

Flame: It's heading due north. We won't be able to miss it.

Langdon: Wait, why are we stopping?

Cynder: Need a brief rest. We should be back on the trail pretty quickly.

(As the group rests, Spyro takes the gem necklace off his neck and tries to figure out what it's about, which Langdon notices)

Langdon: What's on your mind?

Spyro: All of what we've seen, over this little gem. And eight like it. It boggles my mind.

Langdon: You'd be surprised how often little things are catalysts for major wars. There was literally a small naval war started between the Holy Roman Empire and the Netherlands back in the end of the 18th Century over a kettle of soup.

Ember: (Trying to stifle back laughter) Are you serious?

Langdon: Well, it's not exactly like that. There was really a huge trade situation with what are now Belgian cities. The actual war started because the ship on which the soup kettle was got captured. But literally the only shot fired in that "war" was the one that hit that soup kettle.

Ember: That is... honestly ridiculous.

Langdon: What can I say? Humans tend to be irrational creatures.

Spyro: It still doesn't explain why someone would kill for nine tiny gems on leather string...

Langdon: Well, I guess it proves humans and dragons are alike on one front. There is an innate desire for power amongst the worst of us. While the strongest of us know how to restrain themselves.

Spyro: (Putting the necklace back on) Let us hope you are right, Professor Langdon. (To the group) Let's get back on the trail. (To Flame) Due north, right?

Flame: Yep, going straight north from here.

Cynder: (Extending a hand to Langdon) Grab on, Professor Langdon.

Langdon: Here we go.

(And with that, the group takes back off, and within moments, they catch up to the trail of the violet beam they started pursuing. But as they do, a chill settles over the entire group in the form of mist, with Professor Langdon notably being the most affected by it)

Langdon: Anybody else feel that chill?

Cynder: There's only one place we could be heading towards at this point.

(At this point, the mist parts, revealing a frozen wasteland, covered with the remnants of ancient armies, frozen forever in their battle)

Spyro: Dante's Freezer. Just when I thought I'd never have to come back here.

Langdon: You've got some history with this place, I take it?

Spyro: Really more so Volteer than myself. I just hate the cold.

Langdon: I'm with you on that one.

(With this revelation, the dragons land on the main shore, and drop off the shivering Langdon as they do.)

Langdon: (Between chattering teeth) Anybody got a coat?

Cynder: Hold on. Let me try something.

(Cynder looks around the scene, and almost as if she knew it would be there, she finds a chest, popping it open revealing a coat, which she tosses to Langdon)

Cynder: Might be a little big on you, but it should help.

(Thankful for just a little bit of warmth, Langdon slips on the coat, and true to Cynder's words, it is a little big, and kind of itchy)

Langdon: Wait, how'd you know that would be there?

Cynder: When Volteer was held here, the Apes set up an encampment to hold him hostage. That was one of their supply crates. Being the one who oversaw the setup, I'd definitely remember to a point where it was.

Langdon: You were here when the camp was set up?

Cynder: It's a long story we'll need to discuss later. We've got to find where that beam went.

Spyro: Then let's get moving.

(With Langdon now warmed up, the group proceeds into the frozen wastes of Dante's Freezer, as our tale ends for today)

And that looks like a good spot to end for now. So, the Altar of Ice is in Dante's Freezer. No real surprise there, it's the only Ice related point we really know about in this game world. So, where in the frozen wastes does the Altar of Ice rest? Tune in next time as we start figuring it out! Same time... same channel!
