Welcome back to The Violet Riddle. Last time, our heroes discussed the prospects of what happened in Dante's Freezer as they followed the beam towards the Altar of Electricity. But as they reached conclusions about who tried to kill them, agreeing it must be the "false one", they arrived at their destination: Concurrent Skies, Cynder's former lair, so she took the lead in finding the Altar. So, what awaits within this destination? Read on to discover...

(Our story resumes in Concurrent Skies' crystal forest, where Langdon and the dragons are walking through it, heading towards Cynder's old lair)

Langdon: I'll admit, this place is beautiful.

Cynder: (Looking down) All I can see is the horror...

(At that point, Cynder walks ahead slightly so Langdon doesn't see the tears streaming down her face. All Langdon can muster is a confused look)

Langdon: Was it something I said?

Spyro: Cynder's got... history here. Admittedly I do too for similar reasons, but nowhere near the level she does.

Langdon: I'm still not sure I get what you mean by that.

Spyro: Honestly, I'm not too sure it's my story to tell. I'd think only Cynder can tell it.

Langdon: (Seeing how far ahead Cynder is) Something tells me she won't be willing to tell anything for a while.

Spyro: Give her time, Professor.

Cynder: (Having dried her eyes and regained her composure) If you two are done chatting, we've got something up here

Langdon: What's up?

Cynder: There's no way they'd hide the Altar in the crystal forest, it'd be impossible to find. It's got to be in the fortress.

(At this point Langdon finally sees the fortress in question, and he's caught off guard by the imposing black stone structure illuminated by the permanent lightning storm surrounding it)

Langdon: This place looks like a supervillain lair...

Cynder: (Rolling her eyes) Thanks, Professor. We've got to get moving.

(With that, the group gets moving and enters the fortress, and before long are confronted by a series of elevators leading to the top)

Cynder: If I had to guess, the Altar would be near the top of the place.

Langdon: Now all we've got to do is find the elevator to the top.

Cynder: Should be just up a little bit. Follow me.

(Cynder leads the way through a series of platforms and before long the group arrives on an elevator platform.)

Cynder: Alright then, up we go.

(With that, Cynder activates the elevator and the group is on the way to the top of the structure, giving ample time for conversation, which Cynder notices primarily from Langdon)

Cynder: I can tell you've got a curiosity, Professor.

Langdon: (Nervously) I don't want to intrude.

Cynder: No, no, ask away.

Langdon: (Sighs) Please don't kill me for this. But, I just want to know the history you have with this place.

Cynder: (Sighs) As you wish. This place was once lair to a being called the Terror of the Skies. You might have put this together, but that was me. They used to call this place "where hope goes to die". Because I was there. Plotting all sorts of atrocities...

(At this point, Langdon is speechless)

Langdon: (Struggling to figure out what to say) I'm... I'm sorry you went through that...

Cynder: Thanks, Professor Langdon.

Spyro: I told you she'd open up.

Ember: Heads up, looks like we're nearing the top.

Flame: Time to start our search.

(And just like that, the elevator hits the surface of the top of the structure, and as it does, our tale ends for today)

And that looks like a good spot to end for today. So, Cynder spills her guts to Professor Langdon a bit on the elevator. I was honestly tempted to make a Mass Effect elevator joke, but I didn't, thank goodness. That would've been so out of place, especially since I would've had Langdon make it for some reason. So, what awaits at the top of Concurrent Skies'? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
