Welcome back to The Violet Riddle. Last time the Sorcerer cornered our heroes at the Altar of Wind, but Langdon managed to trick him into leaving them alone while they got to the gem necklace and heading off towards the Altar of Shadow. So, where is it? Read on to discover...

(Our story resumes with our heroes flying across the screen, Langdon dangling from Cynder's clutches as they fly. And this time they're doing a good job of keeping up with the beam)

Spyro: Huh. We're doing pretty good at keeping up with the beam this time!

Langdon: This is probably the point where you jinxed it.

Flame: Oh come on, Professor! We wouldn't be in this situation if you hadn't misdirected that Sorcerer!

Langdon: Still, I don't want to jinx it.

(At this point, the beam they've been following heads straight down, at so startling an angle that somebody has to point this out)

Ember: Wait, is that beam heading underground?

Cynder: (Sees the beam's direction) Wait, it is!

Flame: Why in the Ancestors' name would that beam be travelling underground?

Spyro: There's about only one place in the country that beam could be heading if its going underground.

Cynder: The Catacombs.

Langdon: (Now nervously) Did you say Catacombs?

Spyro: Yeah. Why?

Langdon: Let's just say tight spaces and I don't get along.

Cynder: Surprisingly, these Catacombs aren't as compact as you're probably expecting.

Spyro: Yeah, they're surprisingly roomy.

Langdon: You'd better be right, unless you want me to pass out in fear.

Cynder: I wouldn't lie to you, Professor Langdon.

Spyro: None of us would.

Langdon: I'm trusting you on this point.

Cynder: Alright then, let's get down there.

Langdon: Wait, how're we supposed to do that?

Spyro: There's an entrance near here. We'll walk in from there.

(With that, the group veers off the original course, and heads for the banks of a nearby river.)

Langdon: (Looking around) This place is beautiful!

Spyro: That's the Silver River my friend. The very river I was sent down as an egg.

Langdon: Wait, that really happened?

Spyro: Yes, yes it did. Why?

Langdon: I legitimately thought that was a myth someone made up while you had disappeared!

Spyro: At least according to my parents that's what happened.

Langdon: Huh. That's honestly the first time that story has ever actually happened, given how it pops up in human folklore.

Spyro: Seriously?

Langdon: Stories from Moses to Momotaro, from cultures that as far as we know never interacted, all contain some variety of sending a baby down a river to escape strife and danger.

Spyro: That's... certainly interesting. A little weird once you've lived it, but still interesting.

Langdon: It really is.

Cynder: The entrance should be right up the river.

Langdon: So what're we looking for?

Cynder: (Spying something ahead) That.

(And with that, we see what the group is looking for, a majestic waterfall that seemingly forms the Silver River)

Cynder: Welcome to Twilight Falls, Professor Langdon.

(As they arrive, the group lands at the top of the falls, where they can enter the cavernous interior they seek)

Langdon: So these Catacombs are down this cave?

Ember: So they say. As far as I know, of this group, Spyro and Cynder here have been down there.

Flame: Well what are we waiting for? Let's get down there!

Langdon: Hold on a moment. (Breathes heavily) I'll be right with you.

Spyro: You okay Professor Langdon?

Langdon: Just tryingbto ready myself for this. Not that I don't believe what you've said, I just need to be sure

Cynder: Take your time.

Langdon: (Gets his breaths in) Alright, let's do this.

(And with that, the quintet descend into the cavern, just as the Sorcerer appears behind them)

Sorcerer: Those meddlers will not stop me this time.

(And with that, the Sorcerer flies off, presumably towards a second entrance somewhere, as our tale ends for today)

And that looks like a good spot to end for now. Believe it or not, deciding on the location for this Altar honestly took forever, and I almost picked the Well of Souls, but I resisted. So, what awaits down in the caverns? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
