The girls decided that they had spent enough time away from everyone. Or rather, that Leah was no longer going to murder someone. And, on the off chance that she did become homicidal, Lily would be there to use her magic hands on whomever invoked Leah's rath.
It wasn't the best of plans, admittedly but it could have been worse.
Leah decided to drive again, but at least this time she was calmer. Lily no longer feared as much for her life.
It was then that Leah asked if they could stop by the Black's to check up on her mother's car. Most of the residents in La Push avoiding going into Forks for mechanic work because the one in town charged an arm and a leg for anything. Lily didn't see an issue with that, and knew Leah was probably avoiding going back to the house where most of her issues originated from. Lily wondered if she could snoop in the garage for John's work station. Maybe she could leave a prank there for him next time he works. The thought cheered her up a bit.
"Sure, no problem. Besides, this way we can tease Seth about his idol and having missed him" Lily teased. Seth continued to follow behind Jacob in everything that he did. Leah half expected Seth to start working on cars in their garage sooner rather than later.
"Yeah yeah, laugh it up. I don't know what he sees in Jacob. I mean he seems like a normal kid. He's head over heel with this one chick, but who wasn't at his age? He's what, 15 years old? No wait, Seth was talking about getting him a birthday present not too long ago. He's 16 now. I guess it makes sense. Seth is only 14, and it's not like he has any older brothers to follow around."
The car ride went smoothly for a while. The music was playing, but Lily didn't focus on it. It was just nice to have background noise to blend into. She thought about what she could do about her freaky hands. Maybe she could do some experiments like they do in the movies? That sounded just as stupid as the possibility of being a mutant.
What would work as experiments? What could she use as a constant? Lily was an average student, but this was about her life. Any normal person would spend a bit more time and energy researching into something that affected them. She had a notebook she wasn't using at home that she could record everything.
Before too long they pulled up to the Black's residence where the garage was. It was the weekend, so the girls weren't expecting to see as many cars there that they saw. There was this giant beat up red truck, a few worn down looking bikes, Sue's car, and a few others strown about. The red truck was what shocked Lily the most.
"What the heck is Bella doing here? I mean, I'm thrilled she's outside, but this is out of the normal" was Lily's shocked statement. Leah looked over to the truck Lily had been staring at and shrugged. "I did say Jacob was really into this one chick. I didn't realize it was the same girl who was dumb enough to get lost in the woods." Remembering that Sam was the one to find Bella, Lily decided not to push it with Leah. She wasn't interested in pissing her off when they finally just calmed down.
With that, they left the car and walked over to where they heard voices coming from the shop. "Hello? Anyone home? My mom needs her shit! How much longer are you guys gonna keep it here?" was Leah's kind inquiry to her mother's car. Honestly, Lily didn't mind. Leah was who she was, and Lily liked her better for it.
Deciding to leave Leah to deal with her mother's errands, she moved on to snooping. It wasn't a hobby she got to indulge in frequently, but when there was mischief to be had she couldn't contain herself. John and Lily had developed a streak of pranks against one another. Sarah had tried to join in, but after a prank went wrong with the sink involving water she tapped out, pun intended. Sarah was happy to see two of the most important people in her life connecting together, even if it occasionally brought out messes, shouting, and often bright colored hair…
Lily found john's work station. It was just as cluttered and unorganized as the one at home in their garage. She knew he had a method for how he stored his chaos, and he was very particular with it. He had to be, she supposed. Otherwise, how on Earth would he find anything in this mess? Quickly deciding to grab some paint that took forever to dry as well as some papers and duct tape she quickly went to work. Lil started by grabbing useful tools she knew he favored. She began wrapping them in paper, then duct tape, then a layer of paint. Repeat. Over and over and over again. At the end of each bundle, she would artfully paint a silly face, each one different than the last. Her favorite had been one of her sticking her tongue out laughing at a stick figure of john holding a wrench.
She then hid away his tools in his work station, but not all in one place. Once everything was placed, she left a sticky note on his computer screen saying thanks for the new conditioner. She absolutely loved what it did to her hair. Hope you have a good day at work! Last week john had put manic panic inside her favorite deep conditioner, causing her hair to dye bright blue for days. As someone who has very curly light blond hair…. Lily had not been impressed. She wasn't vain, but she quickly decided that blue hair and the attention it garnered were not for her.
Retribution completed, she decided to go back and find Leah. She wasn't sure how long she had been planning her revenge, but it must have been a while. She couldn't find anyone inside. She was also covered in paint and needed to wash up before John could begin to get suspicious. Sarah could help get the paint out of her clothes. She made a great partner in crime.
Finally going outside Lily noticed Bella. She seemed like her normal self. Or rather what her normal self-had been once Lily had arrived. Maybe a bit more animated. What was she doing here? Looking around for Leah, she saw her with a put-upon expression. Alright, on a scale of one to ten Leah was at a pissed off level of about 6. Lily could work with this.
"Hey Bella! I didn't realize you were here. How are you? Also, hi Jacob. Maybe not mention to John or anyone I was here please and thank you." Lily was not going to let this love sick kid give away her game. Revenge was needed. Her hair still looked a little blue around the edges.
"Hey Lily, your secret is safe with me. I'm collecting a good bit of them lately" was Jacob's sly remark. He was looking down at Bella while he said it. She seemed to blush and look uncomfortable all at once. This girl really does not have the best face for expressing things.
"H-hey Lily. I didn't know you knew Jake." Bella looked confused. She didn't know Lily very well. She seemed ok, normal. A bit too pretty, but then again maybe she was just on edge. At least her hair wasn't blue anymore. That was awful to look at. How did she know Jacob Bella wondered.
"Yeah, I'm friendly with most of the people on the Res. They're pretty great, plus John works at the garage here. Anyways, Leah looks ready to go so we are gonna leave. It was nice seeing you guys!" and with that Lily headed towards Leah who looked more than ready to go at this point.
"So, how's the car? How much longer will you be stuck sharing with your mom?" Lily asked. Leah huffed, annoyed to have been held up. "He said it should be done in a few more days. They just need some part to come in from Seattle before they can finish up. I don't think he even cared. He was so stuck-up Bella's ass that he barely gave me any details. Whatever, it's not my problem. Angsty teenage romance is not my thing. Don't you attract any bullshit boyfriends either by the way!" Leah said, looking sideways at Lily.
"Trust me, I not only am not interested, but frankly they seem more trouble than they're worth. Anyone who would even want to go out with me would only do it because I'm some new shinny toy. I'm not about to disrupt anyone's future plans that were probably made in kindergarten here." She was thinking about Jessica, Lauren, Mike and the gang while saying this. She would rather not cross Lauren while she lived through her last semester of high school.
"Besides, I'm on team Leah. No boys but little brothers allowed!" got Leah to huff but break a smile. "Shut up, you're a mess. Just don't get hurt by the guys here. What was Bella doing there anyways? She's like 18. That seems a bit too old for Jacob."
"I'm not sure. I think it has something to do with the motorcycles though. Jacob said he was starting to collect a lot of secrets. Maybe they're a thing now? Besides, I don't think she likes him like that. He seems like a kid with just a crush. She's probably using him for free labor." With that, Lily shrugged. Bella wasn't her issue, and neither was Jacob. Whatever they had going on didn't affect her, so she stopped putting effort into thinking about them.
"I'm going to come up with a game plan for my voodoo powers. You want to help? I'm not the best student so I could really use an expert eye." That caused Leah to jerk back to reality. "Shit, I almost forgot about that for a moment. Yeah, that's fine. We can brain storm some experiments and see if you're some superhero or monster or something. As far as super powers go, yours while weird doesn't seem that useful. Maybe you have to practice?"
The girls got back to the Clearwater's house in the evening. Lily waved at Leah before hopping back into the driver's seat and heading home. Sarah and John had a date planned for the night, so Lily had space to plan her next move. After parking in the driveway, she went straight to shower and find her empty notebook. It had a few sketches in it, but nothing else of substance. Turning a few pages in to a blank page she began her work.
Title of the page: Tinkerbelle. She might as well roll with the nickname. It was a good code word anyways incase Sarah or Mike decided to look through her stuff. She hadn't thought they had previously, but it never hurts to be cautious with mystery things.
Starting event. Lily went to town writing everything she could think of. What the argument had been about, who got hurt, how she felt before passing out. Where she woke up. Her vitals when she was awake.
Possible powers. This one got her thinking. She wasn't sure if this was the only event that had happened or if smaller events had been taking place throughout her life. She couldn't remember suddenly healing a cut, or anything along those lines. Maybe she could go to the hospital and volunteer? That could be a good way to do some good. Even if she couldn't recreate the scenario, at least she would still help someone. She would talk to Sarah in the morning about coordinating that.
Crossing out possible powers, Lily decided to go with talents instead. Talents seemed like a lot less pressure than possible powers. Talents. She was very good at gardening. The community garden down at the Res was doing great. They had started harvesting some of the vegetables, and there had been more than anticipated. This wasn't a bad thing, but maybe it was something to do with her? She always had good luck with gardening. That made her sound like a hobbit. Lily snorted at the thought of her living in a burrow. She was short, but not that short. Besides, her feet were mostly hair free. She had a few strands on her toes but she felt that the amount was normal.
She liked helping people. She was good at listening. On and on she listed qualities until it started to resemble a dating profile. She was one sentence away from saying she enjoyed long walks on the beach and candle light dinners. This wasn't working.
Lily felt too frustrated to continue for the night. It had been a stupidly long day, and she was tired. She decided that simple was best. She would talk to Sarah in the morning about volunteering at the hospital. Plan decided, Lily took some of the sleeping medicine. She needed to get a good night's sleep. She was starting to look like a zombie. Blue haired zombie was not the look she was going for. Thankfully, her medicine began to kick in shortly after.
