Welcome back to The Violet Riddle. Last time, Spyro, Cynder and Professor Langdon woke up on the shores of White Isle. After finding their way inside, they meet the Chronicler at last, finally revealing himself as Ignitus, as well as revealing the Altar of Water was there all along. But most importantly, Ignitus has said he will finally reveal what this ritual, legend, and riddle is really all about. So what is going on here? Read on to discover...

(Our story resumes within the Chronicler's Study, just on the other side of where we left off previously, where Ignitus is ushering Spyro, Cynder, and Langdon into the room as the door shuts.)

Ignitus: I know you have many questions, and I will be happy to answer them in due time.

Langdon: Probably the first question we need answered, what the hell is going on here?

Ignitus: And that is exactly where I plan to start.

(With that, Ignitus manipulates the sands in his hourglass and begins forming it into an image)

Ignitus: The story of the Purple Dragon is undoubtedly familiar to you.

Spyro: One born every ten generations, meant to lead the world into a new era. Yeah, that much is well known.

Ignitus: What if I told you that, at least recently, the legend has become false.

Cynder: What?

Ignitus: When Malefor was born, I have discovered, he was not an isolated incident. There was in fact, another.

Langdon: Another Purple Dragon?

Ignitus: From a certain point of view.

Spyro: A certain point of view?

Ignitus: Yes. This second dragon possessed the features of a Purple Dragon in that he could master all the known Elements. But it is unclear if he ever had power over Aether as Malefor did. Then it was discovered he was practicing the dark arts. I believe you have met him.

Spyro: The Sorcerer!

Cynder: So that's what the "false one" meant.

Ignitus: Exactly. Of course, once confronted with the evidence, he went mad and attempted to slaughter the Guardians of the time for daring to defame him. Thankfully, they were able to contain him, stripping him of his power and sealing it in 9 small gems.

Langdon: The ones we've been collecting.

Ignitus: The very same. But as this dragon's powers were sealed away, something spoke through the gems. It was revealed the true Second Purple Dragon would be born ten generations from then. (Looking to Spyro and Cynder) In your generation.

Cynder: Wait, is that why Malefor attacked the Temple? To kill this Second Purple Dragon?

Ignitus: No. He never knew about the other.

Spyro: Then it sounds like the Second Purple Dragon is likely dead.

Ignitus: Not so, young dragon. Many eggs were not brought to the Temple that year. I know they are still out there...

Langdon: "And One will be revealed in Violet Light"... So that's what it meant!

Cynder: What are you talking about, Professor?

Langdon: The last line from that orb the murdered Guardians left! "Nine hide from the false, bring truth to the fight. And One will be revealed in Violet Light". That's why this Sorcerer wants these gems. Bringing them together in one location will reveal the Second Purple Dragon!

Spyro: That must've been what the Guardians were doing when the Sorcerer murdered them! Trying to find out who the Second Purple Dragon was!

Ignitus: Not quite. They know who it is. This ritual would have summoned this dragon to them, so the nine of them could unlock their true abilities.

Cynder: Well, now we know the truth, all we have to do is find the last two gems, Poison and Earth.

Spyro: Then recover the Electricity and Fear gems from the Sorcerer.

Langdon: Then we need to find the Altar in this place.

Ignitus: That will not be necessary. Your destination... (Manipulates the sands of the hourglass) Is here.

(In the sands of the hourglass, we see exactly where we're heading, marked by the remnants of what looks like a tree)

Spyro: That's where I was captured by the Skavengers!

Ignitus: Exactly. The Grove Underground.

Cynder: Grove? We're going back to Ancient Grove?

Ignitus: A distant part of it, yes. Now go, time is of the essence.

(Understanding fully what needs to be done, Spyro, Cynder, and Langdon take off through an opening door, preparing to exit the facility)

Ignitus: May the Ancestors look after you. May they look after us all.

And that looks like a good spot to end for today. At last, the story of this ritual is revealed in full. So there's a Second Purple Dragon out there. And this Sorcerer thinks it's him, a birthright denied. So, who is the Second Purple Dragon? My lips are sealed. But more pressingly, will our heroes be able to reach the Altar of Poison before the Sorcerer can? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
