This is the Finale of the Labor Day Special. Last time, our terrific trio arrived at the Altar of Poison, only to be engaged by the Sorcerer. And things did not end well, as he flew off having kidnapped Cynder, using her to threaten Spyro and Langdon into retrieving the last gem for him from the Altar of Earth. Will they be able to rescue her? And where is the Altar of Earth? Read on to discover... (Fair warning, this chapter may be a bit shorter than usual)
(Our scene opens in the air over the Realms, where Spyro is carrying Langdon as they fly off towards the location of the final Altar, the Altar of Earth. Spyro's look is intense after Cynder's kidnapping, and Langdon realizes something is up)
Langdon: Spyro?
Spyro: I'm just going to shut you down now, Professor. We don't have time for casual conversation. Cynder's life is in danger if we don't recover this gem. We have no time to waste.
Langdon: You really care for her, don't you?
Spyro: More than anything else on this planet. As far as I'm concerned, the rest of the world can go to heck so long as she's safe.
Langdon: Doesn't seem like the attitude of the guy who pulled a planet back together.
Spyro: Things have changed since then, slightly.
Langdon: (Puts it together) You're in love with her, aren't you?
Spyro: With all my heart and soul.
Langdon: That explains it.
(As the two fly on, we see the violet beam is taking them to somewhere lush and green, dotted with stone ruins)
Spyro: I should've known the gem would be here.
Langdon: What is this place?
Spyro: Tall Plains. Home of the Atlawa.
Langdon: The what?
Spyro: The Atlawa. Or as Sparx would call them "llama people".
Langdon: Okay, now I've heard everything.
(With that, Spyro and Langdon land in Tall Plains, with Spyro being extra cautious as they walk through.)
Langdon: You seem unnecessarily cautious.
Spyro: The Atlawa are very territorial. Chances are, if they discover we're here, we're going to end up in trouble.
Langdon: Okay, this is a first.
(But unbeknownst to the two, a group of Atlawa are watching them from the shadows, and before Spyro and Langdon can get much further, they strike, binding the two with ropes to a pair of poles)
Langdon: I thought this only happened in the movies!
Spyro: I warned you this could happen.
Langdon: So what happens now?
Spyro: If I had to guess, they're taking us to Kane.
Langdon: Kane?
Spyro: Their leader. And if it's him, I think I can negotiate our freedom.
Langdon: So long as we don't end up roasting over a spit, I think we'll be fine!
Spyro: No chance of that. The Atlawa are vegetarian.
Langdon: Not sure how encouraging that really is right now.
(And with that, Spyro and Langdon are dragged off into the distance as our scene ends for today)
This concludes the Labor Day Special. Yes, I know there wasn't a lot in this chapter. But truth be told, when you're only 5 chapters from the end, there's only so much you can write without seeming repetitive. So I guess I just wrote what needed to be said. So, we're finishing the hunt for the gems in Tall Plains, and our remaining heroes have been captured by the Atlawa. Hopefully Kane can get them out of this situation. So, will that be the case? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
