The bullet hit Jasper before ricocheting into the side of the house. Jasper, using his inhumane speed, had pulled Lily behind him to keep her safe.
Sarah had come rushing down the stairs and to the front door at the crack of the weapon being fired.
John, to his credit, didn't lower his weapon. Instead, he made sure another round was in the chamber.
"Lily, get in the house."
"Dad, let's just talk, okay?" Lily said from behind Jasper.
"I can't talk when I don't know what the fuck is going on. Jasper, if that is your name, please return my daughter to me."
"Sir," Jasper started to say sounding very much like the soldier he was, "I think there has been some sort of miscommunication."
"Then explain to me, in detail, why you just appeared on my doorstep like a fucking disco ball and deflect bullets."
"John!" Sarah shouted, but he pulled the door closer to him to keep his wife safe in the house.
"Sarah, not now. Stay in the house!"
"John, you just shot someone!"
"Sarah, not now!"
Throughout the entire exchange, John maintained his eyesight with Jasper's.
"Sir, I will explain everything that I can. But I need you to put the weapon down. Lily, Sarah, and yourself could get hurt if another bullet gets shot."
"Is that a threat?"
"No sir, just a fact. Please, let's talk about this calmly."
Jasper was using his gift to calm the situation down enough without it being suspicious.
". . . fine. but I'm keeping my shotgun out."
They all entered the house at that point. Sarah rushing to pull Lily towards her and hugging her tight before inspecting her for any injuries.
John kicked out a chair from the kitchen table for Jasper to sit in. The others joined shortly after.
"Explain," John said, weapon resting on the table pointed right at Jasper.
"Where would you like for me to begin? There are some things I can't give details about."
"What are you?"
Jasper cringed. "That would be one of those things."
John snorted. "I can just tell this is going to be a great conversation."
"Is your name really Jasper?" Sarah asked. "Are you human?"
"My name really is Jasper, just as my family's names are their own. I was human, but that's as far as I can say ma'am."
"Is your whole family like you?" Sarah asked once more. John grumbled. She quickly turned her gaze towards him. "What? Have a problem with my questions? You had your shot, literally. Now we do it my way. Peacefully." She turned towards Jasper once more. "Well honey?"
"Yes Ma'am."
"What about the boys down at La Push?"
"Ma'am?"
"Lily said her friends were like her. She only really hangs out with your family and the kids down at the reservation. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out who she meant."
"They have their own secrets ma'am, and I cannot divulge them."
Sarah turned towards Lily at that point. "Lily love, are you okay?"
"Mom?"
"Are you okay?"
"I'm fine, scared, but fine."
Jasper reached out and held her hand, trying to comfort her.
John wasn't impressed. "Don't touch my daughter."
Jasper turned towards John at that point, trying to stay calm as he was about to address his mate's father. Thankfully, Sarah jumped in to save the day once more.
"John, look at them. Obviously, they're comforting each other. Now, were you both at that meeting this morning?"
"Yes mom" Lily replied.
"Well, what happened?"
"The danger is going to be here in four days' time. Those who can't fight to keep the town safe will be heading towards La Push."
Jasper took over at that point. "I would prefer it if you all flew to stay outside of the state. Those on the reservation will be helping keep everyone safe, leaving the reservation somewhat open to attack."
"Attack? Why is this even happening?"
Jasper sighed before rubbing his face tiredly and looking at the adults in the room and answering the question. "There is a threat in Seattle that is intent on coming here. Why, we are unsure of, but they will be here in four days. We are teaming up with some of the other. . ." Jasper was lost for words, but Sarah provided a substitute.
"Gifted individuals?" Sarah suggested.
Jasper gave a small smile. "Exactly Ma'am. We are teaming up to remove the threat."
John finally had control of his temper at this point, if only slightly. "Are you helping Lily with her gifts?"
"We are trying, but she is beautifully unique" Jasper said with a smile, looking over at Lily sweetly.
"Lily, are you planning on participating in this battle?" John asked firmly.
"No, dad. I'll essentially be helping with communications but staying out of it physically."
John nodded, knowing better than to tell his daughter she couldn't do something outright. "Then we won't fly elsewhere. We will be on the reservation nearby. You will have your phone on you. You will stay in contact with us. You will absolutely not endanger yourself. You will use your abilities to their fullest abilities. If anyone gets hurt because you used them, I'll hide the bodies myself. You, however, are not to get hurt. Jasper, you personally will ensure that, or I will find some fucking way to end you."
"I understand sir."
"Good. Now get the fuck out of my house."
Jasper kissed Lily on her cheek before leaving the house. Lily knew he didn't go far, especially with everything going on.
After Jasper closed the front door, the attention turned on Lily full force.
John cleared his throat before beginning. "I think I may have gotten out of hand there."
Lily raised her eyebrow at him. 8 months ago, she would never have dared to even look him in the eye let alone sass him for his actions. She crossed her arms before nodding. "Just a hair."
John sighed.
"Look kid, you're my kid. I love you and only want to keep both my girls safe. It's hard not knowing what I'm up against here. When someone who I previously thought was normal glitters like a disco ball, moves apparently stupidly fast, and I can't even shoot him? That, mixed with the scattered information from last night? That was just a lot. I'm sorry if I scared you kid, I didn't mean to.
Sarah pinched him then.
He yelped before turning towards the love of his life. "I'm sorry for ordering you around too dear. I just knew if you were behind me, you'd be safer than at my side."
"Go on" Sarah said, looking down at her nails as if they were manicured. They were not, but the action spoke louder than anything else.
"I know you don't need me to protect you, but I over reacted. I'm sorry love. Forgive me?" He gave her his best half smirk that Lily suspected made Sarah fall in love with him when they were teenagers.
"You big dummy, of course I forgive you. Lily, go upstairs and shower. John's going to cook us up some food before we brainstorm what our next move is."
Lily, happy for an excuse to leave the table, scrambled up to her room to grab her shower stuff. She showered quickly before returning downstairs. She realized she had several messages from both Jasper and Mr. Handsome.
Mr. H- "You okay?"
Mr. H- "everything is going to work out."
Mr. H- "You know, its rude to ignore people."
Mr. H- "I'm gonna take a bite out of you if you don't reply soon.
Jas- "Doll, I'm just outside in the tree line keeping watch. I don't trust them not to send more scouts."
Jas- "Is everything okay inside?"
Jas- "Hey, there's been a change in plans for where everyone is going to be during the fight. Once you're done with your parents, can I come in?"
Lily replied to Jasper first, letting him know everything was okay inside and that she would open her window when the coast was clear. Afterwards, she sent a kissy face emoji to Mr. H to let him know she appreciated him checking up on her.
Mr. H replied quickly.
Mr. H- "Bring extra thick socks and some thermals."
Lily- "You always seem to know whatever's going on."
Mr. H- "I just know shit. Dunno how, but I do. Don't forget the heat packs."
Lily replied with a thumbs up before tucking into the meal John had cooked. They spoke more calmly between each other, but Lily suspected that Jasper was still playing a part in their moods. They had decided that Sarah and John would be going to the reservation but would be spending their time with Charlie and Billy fishing. Sarah hated fishing but said she would use that time to tan.
They all knew it would just be a distraction method from the craziness that would be going on.
Lily excused herself to go up to her room after everything was somewhat finalized for her small family. She made sure to close her door before opening her window. Jasper vamped in both gracefully and quietly shortly after.
She rushed up to him, jumping into his arms and hugging him tightly to her. He held her tightly back, but not enough to hurt his tiny little mate. He started to rumble his chest, which Lily found comforting.
After a few moments of just holding each other, Jasper moved to sit them on her bed, chest still rumbling.
"What is that? The vibrations you're doing?" Lily asked, her voice muffled by his chest.
"Its something vampires do for their mates whenever they need comfort or just because. Its like purring. Its calming and comforting."
"Don't stop, please."
"Never."
They lay on her bed for what could have been minutes or hours, it didn't matter to either of them. They just took comfort in being in each other's embrace.
"Jas, I'm scared."
"I know darlin', but nothing is going to hurt you. I swear."
"What happened with Alice and the plan?"
Jasper growled before explaining. "Bella freaked out about being separated from Edward during the fight. She was planning on trying to find the clearing and do something, but Alice wouldn't explain. She just saw her stumbling around lost in the woods and getting hurt. Edward is going to have to sit out of the fight and stay with her and you while you camp through the fight."
"Um, she does realize that it would be better if Edward did fight right?"
"She doesn't care. She says she knows her limits and being separated from Edward isn't possible."
Lily sopped asking questions at that point, lost in thought.
Jasper let her tumble around in her brain before kissing her nose. "Out with-it little dove, what's botherin' you?"
"They aren't mates, are they?" she asked in a small voice.
"No, they aren't. they just are heavily attached to one another. They're bonded, which I'm sure will surface whenever she does go through the change, but they aren't mates."
"You can tell?"
"I can feel mate bonds just as much as emotions. The way Carlisle and Esme, Rose and Emmett, you and I, we all feel similar emotionally towards the other. They love each other, I feel it, but its toxic and unhealthy. However, it's not our relationship and we can't really interfere too much there."
"But Edward forced your whole family to leave once before" Lily reminded him.
Jasper growled lowly at the reminder. "Yes, because he convinced Carlisle it was the best for the family. Edward was his first that he changed, so there is a bond there that nobody can come close to."
"Do you get jealous of it?" Lily asked, curious.
"Not exactly. I'm the weak link in the family while Edward seems to flaunt his superhuman restraint. Bella being human is almost like a pat on the back for him. He says he's not attracted to her blood, but I can feel it. The need. The desire. She's his blood singer after all. That doesn't just go away."
Lily flicked his ear, earning a playful nip on her lip for the impertinence causing her to giggle before getting serious. "You are not the weak link. You pick up on emotions. If Edward is really with his blood singer, you're just picking up on that and everyone else's thirst. You know this love."
Jasper sighed before burying his nose in her blonde curls. "I don't know. . ."
"Cowboy, I promise you that you aren't weak. I don't think you have ever been weak."
Jasper didn't respond, choosing instead to hold her closer to him.
"I don't want you near the fight Lily," he eventually said.
"I won't be. I'll be too busy playing third wheel with Bella and Edward."
"Seth will be there, that should cheer you up some."
"It does, but I'm scared for everyone."
"Edward is downplaying it for Bella, but newborns are dangerous. These ones have a purpose, which I think you were right about. Having you with Bella feels like a trap."
"Jas, then why put me with her?"
"Edward thinks that sticking the humans together will make it easier to keep you both safe. But you're my mate. That's not his decision."
"Then why am I going there?" Lily pressed.
"Alice." Lily made a face.
"Don't make the scrunched nose face dove, Alice saw something. She said that it was the best outcome for you. I don't agree with it, but its hard arguing with someone who can see the future."
"I don't like not having a say in things. That we don't seem to have a say."
"I know, but after this everything should smooth out. We've got college to go to, or traveling the world, or anything else you want to do."
"Together?"
"Always," Jasper said, kissing her passionately. "I will always be by your side, unless I'm fighting off newborns to keep you safe."
Lily laughed at the attempt at a joke. "Will you guys go hunting before the battle, just to get your strength up?"
"Yes, but Edward is staying behind with Bella at the house. He's got something big planned for her."
"Anything interesting?"
"Honestly? I have no idea. But I do know Bella has been pressuring him for sex for some time."
"I can't really comment on that topic Jas." Lily said, smirking.
Jasper laughed quietly before kissing her again. "I want to, you know I do. I just want it to be special. It'll happen when it happens. I would rather it not be in my parents or your parents house though." He tickled her, causing her to giggle. "Little dove, we have eternity. We don't have to rush."
"Its not rushing, its just I. . ."
"You?" Jasper asked, starting to smirk.
"I keep wanting you. Taking care of myself isn't doing the job as well anymore." Her face flushed with admitting something so intimate with Jasper.
"Well, I think I can help take the edge off" he whispered in her ear, seductively. "You have to stay quiet though. Think you can handle that?"
"What do I get if I can?" she asked, heartrate speeding up. Jasper closed his eyes, listening to it flutter and smiled.
"Why don't we find out Doll. Close your eyes."
(WARNING: MA CONTENT. FIRST TIME WRITING THIS TYPE OF SCENE.)
Jasper moved to start kissing her down her neck, nipping gently at the skin before moving lower. He looked into the Lily's green eyes making sure she was okay with everything. "I said close your eyes doll. Already breaking the rules?"
Lily thought that it should be illegal for him talk that way. Her kitten was purring and slick with his teasing already. She promptly closed her eyes and tilted her head back at the sound of her shorts unbuttoning and being unzipped.
"Lift your hips"
She promptly did, allowing for her shorts and apparently her cotton panties to go with them.
"Good girl. Look at you little love, you're just glistening for me, aren't you?" he whispered into her ear before kissing her on the lips. She nibbled on his lower lip, feeling him smirk against hers. "Troublemaker."
He reached down, using his finger to slide between her slick folds and gently circle her little button. She moaned, but he caught it with a kiss.
He took his time, alternating between her clit and her pussy lips. Every time he worked her up to the point of exploding, he would slow down and switch to her nipples.
Repeatedly he teased her, bringing her just to the edge of pleasure but never letting her take the plunge.
She was moaning, squirming underneath him, as he worked his magic. If she started getting too loud or moving too much under him, he would nip her neck, her breasts, her lips to signal for her to quiet down. That in and of itself teased her nearly as bad.
"Please" she whispered.
"Please what my little dove."
"I need. . . I need" but she couldn't seem to voice it. Her breath was erratic, and her heart was beating just as wildly.
"Use your words darlin'" he whispered in her ear before nuzzling her neck beneath her jaw.
"Please let me cum"
"As you wish" he took her lips with his, kissing her deeply as she lost control, riding the waves of pleasure she finally received.
Jasper, having been able to enjoy her pleasure though his gift, cam with her.
After coming down from her high, she found herself snuggled up against Jasper, blankets covering them both. He was kissing her gently on her shoulder. Noticing she had returned mentally; Jasper caught her gaze and gave a loopy content grin. "How was that?"
Lily closed her eyes and sighed happily. "Exactly what I needed."
"Good" Jasper said, starting to smirk at the complement.
"Don't get a big head, but that was exactly what I needed."
"Go to sleep little love"
"Jas?"
"Hmm?" He replied, having started purring once more and nuzzling into her hair."
"I love you"
Jasper, not expecting her to finally say it, smiled widely at her words.
"I love you too, Darlin'. Always."
Lily fell asleep shortly after, a smile on her lips.
