Author's Note:
This Chapter is dedicated to all those who have fought and lost their lives in Wars and to those who are currently serving. I hope everyone we take the time to thank those brave soldiers for the service and what they have done for their Countries and acknowledge those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.
Remember them on this Remembrance Day.
I would also like to dedicate this chapter to my Pop who served in the Korean War and passed away 12 years ago.
Chapter .1.
Over 1,500 years past since the destruction of Olympus and its Gods. The world was a much darker place now. Ruled by Tartarus and his monsters and demons everyone lives in fear and poverty.
Except for those of the Resistance or otherwise known as the Rebellion. They were the hope in the darkness. Their leaders well hidden and secretive. They had survived the countless centuries by being immortal and being smart.
Many hoping in the Rebellion that the Ancient Vow they had heard about would come into play soon.
The outsiders considered the Ancient Vow a myth much like the woman who it was made too. As she had never been seen again after the destruction of Olympus. There were rumours of course but nothing more.
But the Dark feared the Ancient Vow as with it was tired a prophecy that described their downfall. And the dark would make sure by any cost that the Vow would never, never be fulfilled.
Suddenly a surge of power hits the Earth and the wave of power was so strong that nearly everyone felt it. But only a few could pin point its location.
One of them was a woman in a cave system. Headdress down as she went over maps in her office. When she felt the surge/blast of power. Her gifts also flared to life. And that combined warmed her heart and made the woman smile and shred a tear of happiness.
Her beloved twin had returned that she SURE off. Her gifts weren't fooled easily.
She bolted out the door calling for her Council as she went.
Her family NEEDED to be found and bought here immediately before the dark gets them.
Something SHE would rather she die in their place.
She WASN'T going to lose them again.
She WASN'T going to lose HIM again.
Not now after waiting 15 centuries of waiting and praying.
The woman went through the cave system trying to run her blonde hair falling off the stop of her head as she ran. She was calling her faithful Husband and Wife and Council as she went…
In a clearing far away lay 15 bodies. All in various sizes and ages. Some were teens to adults. All looked different yet some the same.
The teen with sunny blonde hair groans why did he feel so sore? What happened? Where was he? His eyes snap open as he hears others groan.
He saw he was in a dead clearing. With familiar faces around him starting to sit up and look confused.
"Apollo?" a woman asks
"Athena?" the teen asks still confused
"Zeus?"
"Poseidon?"
"Hades?"
"Demeter?"
"Hera?"
"Hestia?"
"Aphrodite?"
"Hephaestus?"
"Ares?"
"Hermes?"
"Dionysus?"
"Hecate?"
"Persephone?"
"Amphitrite?"
"Thalia?"
Their names were called by each other but a name was missing.
Who was it?
"What happened? I feel like I been hit by a sledge hammer", Hermes groans.
"This clearing is dead…", Demeter starts.
"That's not the only thing dead. I smell death in the air", Hades tells them confused.
"What is the last thing any off you remember?" Poseidon asks.
They all frown trying to think.
"Dying", Thalia whispers.
"What?" many asks confused.
"I remember dying", Thalia states.
The others all frown and try to force their muddled minds.
Then it hit them ALL at once. They ALL remembered dying. Fighting and dying.
But Apollo remembered more.
A memory he had just before his death hits him. Of a girl with auburn curls and yellow-silver eyes. The girls eyes were misty.
"No matter how long sister I make a dying vow to you I'll come back to you. No matter what I will return to YOU. Please sister wait for me. I make an Ancient Vow by blood to return to you", he rasps.
"I swear I'll wait no matter how long it takes. I'll be here fighting and waiting", the auburn hair girl vows.
Artemis!
The vow!
"Ancient Vow as old at time. An Ancient Vow to keep to dying days. A vow by Spirit, Magic, Essence, Tears and Blood is made"
Artemis was waiting for him!
Was she even still waiting?
What did those words mean?
How long had it been?
Was she even still alive?
Was she ok?
"Apollo what do you remember?" Athena asks.
Apollo repeats the last memory he had and their eyes widen. Artemis had been there.
Thoughts were running through their heads. Thoughts much like Apollo's.
Was Artemis even still alive?
Was there even a fight between Tartarus and Artemis? Or had Tartarus totally won?
How many years had passed?
The other question many of them were asking was.
Where would they find help?
Where would they find Artemis?
Would she still be waiting?
"We need to find Artemis", Zeus states.
"We need a plan dear before we do anything", Hera states.
"A better plan then what got us killed", Aphrodite states getting a glare from Athena.
"It was not like it was a surprise attack", Athena snaps sarcastically.
"We don't even know how long it has been", Hephaestus states stopping the fight brewing between Athena and Aphrodite.
"Or even where we are", Hecate says.
"Or even if anyone we knew is still alive", Poseidon says with a pain in his heart thinking of Percy and Triton.
Amphitrite takes his hand and squeezes it.
"We can fight our way around", Ares suggests.
"NO!" everyone shouts.
"I NEED to find Artemis. I have a vow too keep", Apollo says urgently.
"We need a plan brother", Hermes says placing a hand on his shoulder.
"Athena?" everyone asks turning to the Goddess of Wisdom and Battle Strategy.
"We will need to go undercover. We don't know how long it has been and how hostile this time period or area is. We need to cover our faces and go to the local town, village or city or…settlement", Athena states thinking fast.
"But Arty…!" Apollo protests.
"I hate to say this Apollo but we don't even know if she is alive. Let alone where she is", Athena points out.
"She has to be alive. She promised to wait", Apollo says.
"Do you really believe that?" Hera asks unusually softly.
"Yes I do!" Apollo says firmly he did believe it.
Something in his heart told him she was still alive and waiting for him to return.
He sees them all look at him in pity and sympathy.
But he didn't care. Artemis had to be alive.
He had a vow too keep.
And it hurt to think along the lines off himself breaking it.
'Please Arty. Please still be waiting and alive. Please, please be alright'
The woman was talking with her scout and spy. It had been decided to send her in to track the source of the power surge. And if it was THEM to bring them to the 'public' and concealed entrance.
"Lou the surge of the power is close to T Sector of…", the woman gives the other the details, "It was massive so as I said I KNOW it is them. Bring them home please Lou"
Lou gives the woman's hand a gentle squeeze as she finished double checking her supplies.
"You have my word I WILL find them and bring them here even if it is the last thing I do", Lou vows.
The woman bites her lip nervously.
"What is wrong?" Lou asks, "Are your gifts acting up?"
The woman sighs and closes her eyes and concentrates she felt her gifts give her some needed advice.
"You WILL find them in sector T. I KNOW that. You WILL encounter some Monsters and I KNOW you will be able to handle them…", the woman says as her gifts give her that knowledge.
"Then I should get going", Lou says with a smile.
The whole Rebellion knew how this woman's gifts worked. They were precise but she was right all the time one way or another. The woman's gifts were difficult to explain and understand but after spending 15 centuries working alongside each other you get to know the others weaknesses, strong points, powers and limits.
"Till the Morrow", Lou says smiling softly.
"Till the Morrow", the woman says with a man and woman at her side.
The man had black hair and sea-green eyes that looked wise and old. Stood at 6'4. Scars all over his body showing his battles over the centuries. His skin a nice golden colour. His aura was like the sea and some said projected safety. He wore on his wedding fingers two silver bands. One had owls on it the other moons. He appeared as a 30-year-old man in his prime.
The woman other woman had blonde hair and wise grey eyes. She stood at 5'8. She too had scars showing how strong she was. On her tan skin. Her aura was as old and wise and projected a since of confident and strength that gave others the same. On her wedding finger had a engagement ring with a small diamond on it with two pearls. Next were two slim silver wedding bands. One with moons and the other with sea shells. Then there was an eternity ring with a sapphire in the middle and two pearls. Each ring representing the relationships she was in. She wore an Owl, Moon and Shell pendant neckless. In the moon held a picture of her loves. She also appeared to be in her thirties.
They always said 'Till the Morrow' as it gave hope that anyone that leaves their hideout would return.
Lou transforms into a raven and flaps her wings and sores away into the sky.
"She WILL find them Arts. You have to have faith love. You just have to wait a bit longer", the dark haired, Sea-Green eyes man says squeezing her hand.
"And hope. And ALL of us never have given up on Faith and Hope even after 15 centuries. Ever since we heard that vow we haven't given up Silver Moon", the other woman says squeezing her other hand.
"You're right my Husband and Wife. I must have Faith in the vow and hope that I'm right and Lou will find them. And I must be patient. After all what is a few days to weeks compared to the 15 centuries we have already been apart?"
