Part Two

Yugi hurried toward the pier. Every once in a while, he could sense a presence behind him. He stopped and spun to look. Seeing no one aside from the few other citizens who wandered about, Yugi relaxed and turned back around. Glancing up, he was thankful to find he was nearly to the pier.

'Why am I being so jumpy? And what's been up with me lately?' Yugi thought. 'The battles with my friends and facing Pegasus in order to save Kaiba, Mokuba, and my grandpa.. I've gone a long way from where I started and my friends had made me a stronger person..'

When his thoughts were met with silence, he started to become concerned.

'Yami?'

"Yes, I'm here, Yugi."

'What's wrong?'

Yami was silent for a moment.

"I can sense we're not alone.. And I am not talking about the many other people around us.. There's someone following behind us."

Yugi turned around to once again check his surroundings. He was so focused on his search that he almost didn't hear Seto behind him.

"So, here you finally are."

Yugi spun around instantly, relief washing over him.

"Kaiba!"

"You took your time to get here," Seto replied, tauntingly. "Were you having second thoughts?"

"Kaiba, I need you to listen to me,"

Seto looked at him curiously.

"There's somebody following us," Yugi continued, now glancing about cautiously. "I don't know who it is, but I can sense somebody's here with us."

"Well, no sh*t, Yugi.. We live in a city."

"No, not like that! I mean.. I mean I feel like something bad is going to hap-"

"Well, well.."

The duo glanced around at the sound of the voice before turning around. Yugi's eyes grew wide in surprise while Seto scowled as they saw a man wearing a green windbreaker jacket with matching pants stepping out from behind the nearby crates.

"It's YOU!" Yugi nearly shouted.

"So I finally found you.. I gotta say, it took a bit of time but now I finally got you where I want you." the man hissed, breathing a cloud of smoke into Yugi's face. Yugi tried not to cough.

"They took you to JAIL! Why are you HERE!?" Yugi demanded, the tone in his voice growing more confidant.

"You know d*mn well why I'm here." the man snarled. "You got me arrested and now I'm back to make you PAY!"

Yugi gritted his teeth and was about to speak, when Seto stepped toward the man threateningly.

"You will have to get through me before you take him."

"And why would I waste my time on you?"

Seto's expression darkened.

"He owes me a duel and I am not going back on that." Seto replied in a threatening tone.

The man's scowl transformed into a smirk.

"You picked the wrong guy ta mess with."

The man pulled out a loaded gun, pointing it in Seto's face. Yugi's eyes widened in horror as the man pulled back the hammer of the gun.

"Now, we can do this the easy way.. Or we can do this.. The HARD way."

Seto felt the metal against his temple but didn't even flinch as he continued to stare the man down.

"STOP!"

The man turned at the sound of Yugi's shout. Yugi's cold and hard glare stared back at him. Seto's eyes grew wide as he instantly noticed the change in Yugi's demeanor; becoming much like it had whenever they had engaged in a duel. When he noticed the Millennium Puzzle around his neck had begun to emit a faint glow, he understood.. This was the 'Other' Yugi.

"I will not let you DO THIS!" Yami shouted.

The man chuckled darkly.

"How cute.."

Yami only glared back at the man. Taking that moment to act, Seto knocked the gun away, causing it to go off. There was a loud cracking of wood as the shot struck against the wood of the dock below them, causing Yami to jolt back in surprise. Seto struggled to pull the gun away as the mugger fired again.

White hot pain tore through Yami's shoulder, causing Yami to cry out in agony.

"YAMI!" Yugi cried out.

'Yugi..'

Yami thought he heard another shot ring out but it sounded muffled, as if it had been far away. It was followed by a cry of pain, but Yami couldn't figure out where the sounds were coming from. His ears were ringing and his mind was hazy from the immense pain. Yami glanced up and was horrified to see Seto had fallen to the ground, clutching at his side. Deep crimson blood began to seep through the fabric, coating Seto's hand in red.

"Kaiba!"

As Yami hurried toward Seto on the ground, he failed to see the man's momentary absence until it was too late. Yami let out a grunt on pain as he felt the side of the gun strike him in the head, knocking him to the ground. He made a strangled grunt of pain as he was forced to stand up, the man using the chain of the Millennium Puzzle to lift him up. The man chuckled cruelly.

"Not so TOUGH now ARE you?"

He tightened his hold on Yami, soon holding him in a headlock. Yami gritted his teeth as he fought against the man's grip, his gaze locked on Seto on the ground.

"I wouldn't if I were you." the man warned him.

He pulled back the hammer on the gun and took aim at Seto, causing Yami to freeze.

"One false move.."

The man fired the gun, the shot zipping inches away from Seto's head.

"NO! STOP IT!"

Yami winced at Yugi's cry of horror but didn't move an inch as he stared at Seto, beads of sweat starting to form on his face. He could sense Yugi trying to regain control, but Yami refused to allow him to do so.

'Yugi.. You must restrain yourself.'

"But Kaiba-"

'If we move, he will pay the price for our reckless actions.'

Yami managed to hold Yugi back from getting control as he spoke.

"Don't shoot him." Yami kept his gaze on Seto as he spoke. "It's me you want."

The man grinned cruelly and tightened his grip, causing the metal chain of the Millennium Puzzle to dig into Yami's neck. Yami's gaze locked with Seto's even when the mugger began to force Yami to start walking, the end of the gun pressed against his temple. It was only when he and the mugger rounded the corner that Yami clenched his eyes shut at the throbbing pain of his wounds.

Seto clutched at his side, trying to stem the flow of blood the best he could with his hand. His breath came out in ragged gasps as he tried to fight through the pain. Trying to repress a cry of agony, Seto looked up. His gaze met with the 'Other' Yugi's.

"Don't shoot him.. It's me you want."

Seto was surprised by the fact that 'Other' Yugi's gaze hadn't moved from his as he spoke. He watched as the man tightened his grip on Yugi, pressing the end of the gun against his temple as he forced Yugi to walk until they disappeared out of sight.

Ignoring the pain, Seto forced himself to move and made an effort to get up.

"GAHHH!"

Agony exploded through his body as he collapsed to the ground. His vision swam stars exploded in his vision. Seto gritted his teeth as he continued to struggle.

'Move d*mn it, MOVE!' Seto screamed at himself, trying in vain to stand up.

With a great bit of effort, Seto managed to get to his feet. He looked out toward where he saw Yugi go, a deep scowl forming on his face.

"This isn't over.."

Author's Note: So sorry for taking so long with this.. I was having trouble figuring out who to use as the antagonist for this and had thought of using the mugger from the one episode who had not been seen after that particular episode.. If anyone had any advice on how to improve, please let me know? Thanks..
