Chapter 21 – Drive it so far

"Did they decontaminate the buss?" Zeref asks to which Laxus just nods his head.

"Where is Lucy? She usually comes with you guys?" Grey asks as he rises to his feet and he grabs his stuff from the trailer.

"She is busy with the Amnesty." At this I raise a brow.

"Amnesty?" Aries asks frowning as well.

"Yes, she and the Captain from the exhibit store are busy with the Amnesty firearms." Laxus says placing his stuff in the trailer. "But it's only for this month, the Amnesty finishes end of the month."

"Aren't they busy?" I ask knowing full well how bad an Amnesty can get, people handing in their firearms that are not licences to safeguard their firearms and apply to either have the firearms destroyed or re-apply for a firearm licence.

"She is probably just doing the paper work while the Captain takes in the firearms." Aries says as she takes her seat where Grey was seated.

"They should ask the Captains members to return, because the rise in handing in of firearms will rise even surely." Grey states and at this Laxus walks off and away from the tent, his clipboard in hand. He was done talking to us.

"Maybe." Aries says.

"Because I can never really tell what's going on with her." Dan says and at this I frown. "Yesterday I was at your station and she came to me greeting me with open arms, and it felt like home, her hug was warm and filled with love, it's a vibe I get from her." He says as he fumbles with his thumb and he looks down. "And then Laxus and the others came and he came over to us and they turned to the side and exchanged some words and then Laxus walked to me and shook my hand and walked to his car and she stood there looking down at her feet for a moment. When she looked up I could see that she was upset but she just smiled at me."

I narrow my brows at him because still it didn't make any sense why he was even saying this to me.

"But I could see she was hurt…and she is dangerous when she's hurt." At this I tilt my head and I stare at my friend.

"Why would you say that? I have never seen Lucy dangerous or angry or fighting." I say and at this he looks down.

"Lucy is one of those girls that can easily destroy everything around her, but she wouldn't, she just won't. Because she would rather destroy herself." At this I stop and I truly look at my friend as he speaks of my muse. "And that is the sad part because later I called her to check up on her and she nonchalantly just told me I shouldn't worry because everything is fine."

"Sherry is going to kill you." I say and it comes out harsher than I thought it would. This only made Dan chuckles. "Would you cheat on Sherry?" I ask all serious and at this Dan looks down and shakes his head from side to side.

"No. But if I was single…" He trails of with another chuckle and I shake my head from side to side.

"You almost sounded like Lucy there." Dan says and I shake my head again because I know that is something that she would say. "But the thing is, I don't think she and Laxus is the right fit." At this I actually nod my head. "Because he is getting her to a point where she is considering to destroy herself to prove her love. And she should just run and she shouldn't look back."

"How can you be so sure of that? Laxus is good to Lucy." I say and I am not sure who I am trying to convince, him or myself.

Dan scoffs at me and then turns his head to the side. "It's just sad really." At this I look to my friend again.

"What? You're confusing me." I say and he turns in his seat again and he looks to the television.

"To watch her love people so much." I furrow my brows not really knowing what he was talking about.

"Why? I ask a bit dumbfounded.

"Because seemingly no one loves her the same way." At this realization hit me. And it was true what he said. It just took me a while to register his words. And they hit home. Dan wasn't as dense as I really thought, he was deep and a kind young man.
