After Mrs. Kent had left to go to Washington DC to take her seat there as a senator for the state of Kansas, Clark and Lois had to get back to work. Chloe was waiting for them when they got to the Planet, and they talked about what happened at the Dam because they were supposed to write a story on it.
"So, you say that Lex was there? What are you going to do about that? You know you can't just let him get away with testing on those people." Chloe said.
"There isn't much we can do about it now Chloe. We can't exactly put in the article that Lex was there, because then people are going to wonder what we were doing there before anyone even knew that anything was going on there." Lois said.
"I guess you are right. It would just be good to take him down for once and he would not be able to get out of it in some kind of way." Chloe said.
"We will get him one of these days Chloe. We just need to wait. He will find a way to sabotage himself and we will be there to take advantage of it." Clark said.
"Anyways, we can't write about Lex being there, so what can we write about it?" Chloe asked.
"We can write about everything but Lex being there. We can write about the bodies that were found there by the police. What kind of experiment they think was run on the people? The fact that they are all dead. There is plenty still there that we can write that will leave Lex out of the story for now." Clark said.
"You have a point there. So, have you guys heard about the new editor?" Chloe asked.
"I have forgotten about that. I have been so busy getting mom ready to leave town that I forgot that we were going to have a new boss." Clark said.
"Me too. Have you met him yet? What is he like?" Lois asked.
"He seems like an ass to me. He has already said that I don't put the same passion into my writing as I did when I was in high school. I guess that happens when you can't write about what is really going on because you will expose your best friend and your cousin to the world." Chloe said.
"Your writing hasn't lost passion Chloe. The man is obviously blind. I already don't like this man for the way that he is talking to you." Lois said.
"Lo, we have to give him a chance. He is our boss after all. We don't need you getting fired because you couldn't keep your feelings to yourself." Clark said.
"Clark, if you weren't the love of my life I would smack you right now, but I do know that you have a point and I do know that I do talk too much sometimes, so I will try to watch what I say." Lois said.
"Good. So, let's get to work on this article so that we can get it turned in for the paper tomorrow." Clark said and the two women nodded as they all got to work on their part of the article.
They worked on the article until they were done with it, and it just so happened that the assistant of the new editor was coming down to get them so that they could talk to the new editor in his office. They followed the assistant up to the editor's office and went in once they were told that the editor was ready.
"Hello, I am Grant Gabriel. I am the new editor here at the Daily Planet. From what I hear, the three of you are up and comers in the newspaper industry. I would like to make you all an offer." Gabriel said.
"What offer would that be sir?" Clark asked and Lois just smirked because of course Clark was going to be all proper with this man. She loved him but he could be such a dork sometimes.
"I want to move you upstairs and make you full-fledged reporters, on one condition. I know you are working on that story from Reeves Dam. I want to see your best work on that. I also have some other articles that I want you to work on, such as the fact that a movie is being filmed on your farm Kent. I want an exclusive on that. I will let you know what else comes up, but if you do good on the articles that I give you, I will make sure that all three of you are moved upstairs within the next six months." Gabriel said.
"Sounds good boss. Anything else before we go back to work?" Lois asked.
"Yes. Could you stay behind for a minute Ms. Lane?" Gabriel asked and Lois nodded as the other two left the office.
"So, what can I do for you boss?" Lois asked.
"Grant is fine, Lois. Anyways, I wanted to see if you would like to go out to dinner with me tonight. I am new in town, and I don't know my way around yet." Grant said.
"Sorry boss, but I don't think it is appropriate for an intern to date the boss. It will look like any kind of advancement I made was because I was sleeping with the boss, and I don't want that to be what people think about me." Lois said.
"I guess that does make sense. I just had to ask because you are a beautiful woman that any man would be lucky to have. I am just upset that it won't be me." Grant said.
"Maybe in a different lifetime. I do have a question though. What is the policy on dating in the workplace?" Lois asked.
"There really isn't one, as long as it doesn't affect your work. Are you reconsidering my proposal now?" Grant asked with a smirk, thinking that his luck was about to change with this beautiful woman.
"No. Sorry boss. I already have a boyfriend. You seem nice enough, you just aren't my type." Lois said.
"Oh, and what is your type?" Grant asked.
"I have a thing for geeks. I don't know what it is, but it just does something for me, and you don't strike me as a geek, so therefore you are not my type." Lois said.
"I understand Lois. Go and get back to work now. I hope that you and your friends will be working upstairs very soon." Grant said.
"Thanks boss. We will do our best." Lois said as she left his office.
When she got back down to the bullpen, Clark and Chloe were waiting on her. "So, what was that about?" Chloe asked.
"Oh nothing. I think he was just trying to get into my pants." Lois said.
"What? Are you serious? You know you could get him fired right?" Chloe asked.
"Yeah, but I turned him down and he understood. Oh, by the way, Clark, there is no rule about workplace romance here according to the boss, so I guess that means we don't have to hide our relationship anymore." Lois said.
"Just wait for a little while Lois. I want to check that out in the employee manual. I think he might have just told you that so that you would let him know who your boyfriend is so that he could fire them." Clark said.
"Why that sneaky son of a bitch. Yeah, check that Clark. We need to know how dirty this guy is ASAP." Lois said and Clark nodded as he pulled out his manual and found out that he was right and there was a rule about workplace romances, but if you reported it to HR, you were fine.
"Lois. It looks like he was telling a half truth. You are fine as long as you report it to HR." Clark said.
"Well, let's go and do that then, so we don't have to keep hiding this. It gets so tiring doing that." Lois said.
"Ok. Let's go Lois." Clark said as they both got up to make the walk to HR, so that they could show that they were a couple at work without having to be reprimanded for it.
