Lois, Clark, and Chloe had just finished another article that had knocked Grant's socks off. He was considering forgetting about waiting the six months to move them all upstairs because of the work that they were doing. The three reporters were doing better than anyone who was working as full time as a reporter right now. Grant was going to let them write a few more articles and then he would decide if he was going to move them to full time reporter for the Daily Planet.

Grant still would flirt with Lois every now and then to see if he could get her away from Kent and to give him a chance, but nothing had changed so far. The two reporters must have the type of relationship that even though they were so different, it didn't bother them that much. He had heard about the friendship that the two had before they started dating from Lex. He just didn't understand why Lois would be with someone like Kent, but that was something that he couldn't do anything about, because their relationship seemed to be so steady that nothing would break them up.

He would move all three of them upstairs because of their work. He was not the kind of person to penalize people for things like not dating him or anything like that. He was not his brother after all. Right now though, he needed a date to the function that he was going to tonight and he knew for sure that would not be Lois Lane. That left him probably going stag, which wasn't a bad thing since he might be about to find himself a girl at this function. He had always had luck at these events, but he was tired of the one night stands. He wanted something stable, so this meant that he would have to find someone who was not like the girls that he was used to dating. That is when an idea came to mind. He had heard that someone was invited to this event because of their past affiliation with his brother. He would charm her and then he would be a better person to her then his brother had ever been.

Grant couldn't help but smile. He was going to show his brother that he was not going to be in his shadow anymore and he was going to do that by getting Lex's ex-fiance to date him and he was going to keep her where Lex couldn't.

. . .

Later that night Clark, Lois, Chloe, and Jimmy walked into the event that they were covering and went to get a drink and then they all walked around and mingled with people so that they could get some information for their article. They were walking around and they came upon a sight that they didn't expect. Lana Lang was talking to their editor and it looked like they were hitting it off.

"This might be a good thing. It will get that man off of my ass. I am getting tired of him flirting with me, even though he knows that I am with you, Smallville." Lois said.

"Yeah, this could be good. It is just weird seeing Lana with another person of power. It is like she has gone power hungry." Clark said.

"Hold your horses Clark. We don't know if anything is going on between them. They might just be talking." Chloe said.

"Yeah CK. I think they are just talking. I mean, when the guy comes over and talks to us, I bet he will hit on Lois again like he always does." Jimmy said.

"You are probably right. So, let's go and get all the information that we need for this article so that we can get out of here. You know how much I hate to wear a tux." Clark said and Lois just shook her head at Clark as they went and talked to more people for their story.

. . .

Lois was making her way around the room when she found herself walking towards Grant Gabriel and Lana Lang. Lois tried to avoid them but Lana called out her name trying to get her attention.

"Lois, come on over here. How have you and Clark been? It has been a while since I have seen either of you." Lana said.

"Everything is going good with the two of us. It is good to see you Lana. You should stop by the farm sometime. It is weird not seeing you around any." Lois said.

"I will do that. So, I was here for this event and your editor came over and started talking to me. We just kind of hit it off. I hope you don't think it is weird, me dating your boss." Lana said.

"That is no problem at all. He is a good guy and he deserves a good girl. I am just glad that you got away from that scumbag that you used to date." Lois said.

"He was a scumbag wasn't he. I just wish I had known who he really was before I started dating him. It would have saved me a lot of trouble." Lana said.

"Yeah, I guess it would have. Anyways, I am supposed to be covering this event, so I better get back to that. See you tomorrow boss. Goodbye Lana." Lois said as she walked away from the couple to find Clark.

. . .

You were right, Smallville. Lana and Grant are dating. I am glad this will stop him from hitting on me though." Lois said.

"That is a good thing. I just hope that Lana isn't getting in over her head here." Clark said.

"You need to stop letting other people's decisions affect you, Clark. It is good that you want to protect everyone, but you need to let them make their own mistakes and deal with the consequences. I know she made a mistake with Lex, but Grant might be different." Lois said.

"You make a good point. Anyways, I think I have all that I need for the article. How are you coming with your part?" Clark asked.

"All done. I was coming over here to see if you were done. I can't wait to get into some comfortable clothes at home. Maybe before I get into those comfortable clothes we can do something else though." Lois said with a smile.

"I like the way you think. Let's head home." Clark said and he and Lois left the event and then flew home to have some fun after being at this stuffy party for the past few hours.
