Clark, Lois and Kara were about to do an interview with Chloe so that people of Metropolis would know more about them. For now there would be no close ups of them, but Jimmy would get pictures of them in action so that the people of the city would know what they looked like, minus their faces. The trio still needed to work on their civilian disguises so that people would not suspect them.
They had finished the interview and were now helping Chloe write up the article, since it was supposed to be written by the three of them. Clark would do the typing because he could actually spell and use his speed at the same time. Chloe would have been the second choice since she could at least spell. The only reason that they would use Lois to type was for speed, then they would have to go back and re-write most of the article because of all the spelling mistakes.
"It looks good, Smallville. Couldn't have done better myself." Lois said with a smile.
"I know you couldn't have Lois. You are a great reporter, but your spelling is the worst I have ever seen." Clark said.
"Careful Clark or you won't get any for the rest of the week." Lois said.
"Please. I think you are the one who would end up begging for it before I did." Clark said.
"I can't help it that we have the best sex that I have ever had when we are together." Lois said.
"Not that it isn't good that the two of you are so in love and all, but I really don't't want to know about your sex lives." Chloe said.
"Sorry Chloe. So, what do you think of the article so far?" Clark asked.
"I agree with Lois. It looks great. I think we should send it up to Grant and see what he has to say about it." Chloe said.
"Sounds good. It is sent." Clark said as he pushed the send button on the computer screen.
. . .
The reporters were called up to the editor's office an hour later about the article. When they walked in, they saw a huge smile on Grant's face. "This is a great article. This might actually win all three of you an award." Grant said.
"Glad you like it boss. So, can I assume that this is front page material?" Lois asked.
"It is very much front page material. I will have it on the front page of the issue that goes out in the morning. You guys should be really proud of this article. I know I am proud of having writers like you work here." Grant said.
"Thanks boss. So, is there anything else we need to know before we leave?" Chloe asked.
"Nope. You know what, I think I will give the three of you the day off tomorrow because of your hard work on this article. It should give you plenty of time to celebrate." Grant said.
"Thanks boss. I don't think any of us will turn down a free day off." Clark said.
"Well, I will see you guys next Monday then, since I am technically giving you a three day weekend." Grant said.
"See you then boss." Lois said as the three reporters left the office and decided to go home and start their long weekend.
. . .
The next day Clark was out working on the farm taking care of some of the things that had backed up since he didn't have as much time as usual because of working at the Daily Planet. Lois was in the house doing some research on an article that she and Clark would be working on on Monday, when there was a knock at the door. She got up and went to answer it and saw someone that she didn't expect to see.
"Hi daddy, what are you doing here? Lois asked.
"I am here about the article that you and your cousin wrote. I need to meet with these so-called aliens so I know what their intentions are. I know they told you that they were here to save the planet, but I can't believe that without talking to them myself." Sam said.
"Sorry dad, but it doesn't work like that. We caught up with them on one of their saves. If it wasn't for that, we wouldn't have gotten the interview." Lois said.
"Well, until I talk to them, I will have to consider them a risk to this nation and act accordingly." Sam said.
"Seriously! Do you really not trust me enough to know that I am telling the truth here? I knew we had problems, but I didn't know that you didn't trust me." Lois said.
"It is not about trust Lois. It is about the security of this country and this world. I am doing what has to be done." Sam said.
"Whatever makes you sleep better at night daddy. Anyways, I would appreciate it if you got off of my porch now." Lois said.
"Your porch? I didn't realize that you had bought the Kent farm." Sam said.
"I date Clark and his mom left the house to both of us when she left for Washington DC, so therefore, yes I do own it." Lois said.
"I still think you can do much better than that Kent boy. You should have stuck with Queen." Sam said.
"Oliver was not the man for me and Clark is daddy. Now get off my porch before I call the police and say that you are trespassing." Lois said.
"Fine Lois. I will go for now. Think about what I said though. If you decide to let me talk to these so-called heroes, I will be waiting for your call." Sam said as he walked back to his vehicle.
"Don't hold your breath." Lois said as she walked back into the house.
"Well, that was a hell of a way to celebrate a long weekend." Lois thought to herself as she got back to doing the research she was working on when her father showed up.
