The next day Lex was sitting in his office when his assistant (Dinah) called into his office to let him know that he had some visitors. Not long after two people walked into his office. One of them was a detective that he had seen before. John Jones he believed his name was and the other was just a beat cop.
"What can I do for you officers today?" Lex asked.
"We would like you to come with us Mr. Luthor. We have a witness that is saying some very bad things about you and we would like to clear this all up." Jones said.
"I will come with you right away. I can't have anything happen that can hurt my company." Lex said as he stood up and went with the officers.
. . .
Once they reached the police station, they went to an interrogation room and the questioning began. This all seemed like a wild goose chase to Lex, with all of the allegations that the detective was throwing at him and he knew that he would get off from all of these allegations in the end.
"Mr. Luthor, we have a man that was brought in last night that has said that you were responsible for a robbery attempt on Oliver Queen last night. This man also says that you are corrupt and have been experimenting on people with powers for years. Do you have anything to say to this?" Jones asked, knowing that they had already checked out all of the information that the thief gave them the night before and had found that everything was true.
"I don't know anything about any of this. People just like to take people like me down a notch every now and then. That is all that this is." Lex said.
"Ok. So, this guy says that you sent him to steal some sort of device from Oliver Queen. He showed us the transaction for where you paid him as well." Jones said.
"I probably paid him for something else and he just happened to get caught and thought he would bring me down with him." Lex said.
"That makes sense. Well, I would like to show you the evidence that we have right now and see what you have to say about that." Jones said and Lex nodded, thinking that they didn't have anything to use against him.
When John put the pictures out in front of him that showed some of his 33.1 warehouses, Lex knew that he was caught and he would have to find a way to explain this away.
"As you can see Mr. Luthor, we have a lot of evidence against you experimenting on people. We have pictures of you leaving the warehouse, pictures of the experiments being done with you there, and also some of the people dying from some of your experiments. We have everything that we need to put you away for the rest of your life." Jones said.
"Are you sure these pictures aren't doctored? Like I said, people are always trying to make me look bad. I would be caught at a place like this for any reason." Lex said.
"We thought about that as well, and we ran tests on everything and all of the pictures are authentic." Jones said.
"Shit." Lex thought to himself. What was he going to do now?
"Mr. Luthor, if you can't do any better than this, I am going to place you under arrest for murder, experimentation, kidnapping, and robbery to name a few. I am sure we will find more as the investigation goes on." Jones said as he handcuffed Lex and led him to the cell in the back of the police station.
. . .
It didn't take long for the news of Lex's arrest to make it to the Daily Planet and of course Grant wanted Lois and Clark to write the piece. Of course, they already had most of the information that they needed since John Jones had already shown them all that he had and also they had interrogated the man who broke into Oliver's apartment the night before.
"So, do you think that this will stick?" Lois asked Clark.
"I hope so, but I guess we won't know until the trial is over. I am sure that Lex will try to pay some of the Jurors off. So, there is the problem with that happening." Clark said.
"I know. So, I guess we should at least make a show of going to the police station so that it doesn't make it look like this is too easy." Lois said and Clark nodded as they both got up to leave the office and talk to their friend John Jones.
. . .
Once Clark and Lois got to the police station, John met them outside and handed them everything that he had on the case that he could give them at this point.
"Thanks for this John. Once the people know what kind of a person Lex is, no one will let him off once his case goes to trial." Lois said.
"I hope you are right Lois. People like Lex Luthor are dangerous and need to be put away so that they don't destroy cities or the world." Jones said.
"I think we finally have the evidence that we need to put him away for a long time though. It is going to be hard for his lawyer to find an explanation for this evidence. But like you said, who knows what can happen." Clark said.
"Let's not jinx this. Let's go and get this story written so that it can be on the front page on tomorrow's paper." Lois said.
"Thanks for your help John. We will see you later." Clark said as the two reporters left the police station.
. . .
It didn't take Lois and Clark long to write up the story and get the information to the editor so that it could be the front page on the next morning's newspaper.
"I think this is one of the best stories we have written together so far. I am so glad you came to work here. We work so well together." Lois said.
"Yeah, we do. So let's get out of here and see if there is anything that needs our attention tonight." Clark said as he and Lois both left the office and did a quick patrol of the city before going home for the night.
