The next day Clark, Lois, Lucy, and the General were sitting in the living room watching television when the breaking news banner came across the screen and the television cut to the news anchor.
"This is breaking news. We have just got news that someone or something is tearing Metropolis apart. Here is Susan Williams from the scene." the anchor said.
"Thanks Ben. As you can see, something is tearing the city apart. I can't even describe what it is like down here. The police are telling us to get out of here. This is Susan Williams from the scene of this horrible attack. Back to you Ben." Williams said.
"Thanks Susan. Let's just hope that Superman, Superwoman, Supergirl, and Green Arrow arrive soon." Ben said as he signed off.
Clark and Lois looked at each other and then Lois said, "Looks like we need to head to the city so that we can report on this."
"You are going nowhere near that place young lady. Leave this to the army and the so-called heroes." the General said.
"We are obligated to be there, daddy. It is our job." Lois said.
"If you have to go, make sure that you are nowhere near the destruction." the General said.
"We will daddy. I will see you this afternoon." Lois said as she and Clark got up to leave and Kara was walking up to them.
"Did you see the news?" Kara asked.
"Yeah, we are on our way there now." Clark said.
"Good, I will see you guys outside." Kara said as she left the house.
"Ok, we really need to go. Are you not having to go in for this daddy?" Lois asked.
"No, I will never get there in time. I will be leading things from here as I get information from the people in the field." the General said.
"That's good. We will see you when we get back." Clark said as Lois and he left the house.
. . .
It took them a few minutes to get to the scene and what they saw was bad. They then heard a loud roar and turned around to see the monster that they were after. Kara joined up with them and then they started flying around the monster and using their heatvison on it.
"Looks like heat vision is not working. How about freeze breath?" Superman said and they all tried that and the monster was encased in ice, but as soon as they got close to the monster, it broke free of the ice and took a swing at Superman and sent him flying backward.
"I have never been hit that hard except when I went up against other Kryptonians. So, that means that this thing is from our planet, Supergirl." Superman said.
"I think I heard something about this. It was said that Zod created something right before the planet exploded. I guess this is what he created." Supergirl said.
"I guess it is. So, what do you know about this thing?" Superwoman asked.
"It can be hurt, but once it has been hurt by something, it becomes immune to it." Supergirl said.
"Of course it does. Why couldn't this just be easy?" Superwoman asked.
"Ok, so what are we supposed to do then?" Supergirl asked.
"I have an idea. It is going to take all of us, plus J'onn to do this though." Superman said as he looked around to see if J'onn was with any of the other policemen. He found J'onn and hoped that he could read his mind.
"J'onn, we need to get this thing to Mars. Can you help us?" Superman asked his friend through his mind.
"I can do that Kal-El. We will need all four of us though." J'onn said.
"We're in. Let's do this." Superwoman said and the four of them surrounded the monster and then picked it up and flew into the sky.
"So, we need to fly this thing all the way to Mars. I hope it doesn't take too long with the way this thing is squirming." Supergirl said.
"It won't take long at all with all of us carrying it. When we get to Mars we will have to put it in a prison. We also need to realize that this is only temporary. The only way to end this is to kill it, but it seems to be unkillable." J'onn said.
"So, what do we do then?" Superman asked.
"We come up with a plan for when it finally makes its way back to earth." J'onn said and the other heroes nodded as they found the prison that was still on Mars and threw the monster in and locked the cell and then flew back to earth.
"Well, I think it is time to head back home. I do have family that is there anyways." Superwoman said as she, Superman, and Supergirl flew back to Smallville.
. . .
When they got back to Smallville, Clark, Lois, and Kara went to the Talon and got some coffee and then decided to just stay there for a while since they were supposed to be in Metropolis and that was over two hours away.
"Kara, why don't you come over for dinner tonight? It will give you the chance to get to know my sister, who I think you would really get along with." Lois said.
"I would like that. So, when are you thinking about heading home then? If you want to wait for a while we can go and get some food for the night." Kara said.
"Sounds good. Let's go." Lois said as the three of them got up and headed to the grocery store.
. . .
When they finally got back to the farm they found the General and Lucy still watching the news about what had happened earlier in the day. They heard the door open and saw Clark, Lois and Kara walk in with the groceries.
"So, has any news come out lately that we might have missed?" Lois asked, trying to keep their lie going.
"Don't play dumb with me, Lois. Did you really think that I wouldn't recognize Clark and his cousin fighting that monster. That only led to you being Superwoman. You have a lot of explaining to do, young lady." the General said and Lois sighed since she knew there was no way out of this.
