The next day Clark, Lois, Kara, and Lucy were hanging out around the house when a sound that only they could hear came through and caught the heroes attention. They all looked at each other knowing that something serious was going on, because Jor-El never called them unless it was serious.

"Hey Lucy, we have to go. Will you be alright here for a while?" Lois asked.

"Yeah, I will be fine. Go and do your thing." Lucy said and the heroes flew out of the house making their way to the fortress.

. . .

Once they got to the fortress, it lit up and then Jor-El's voice sounded from all around them.

"Kal-El, something happened when you sent the other Kryptonians away. The portal opened up and let a dark force through it." Jor-El said.

"So, what do we need to do?" Kara asked.

"This darkness will feed on the darkness in people. It will make them doubt themselves. It will make them act on impulse. If you allow this to happen the whole earth will be taken over by the darkness." Jor-El said.

"How are we supposed to stop something we can't even see?" Lois asked.

"You just need to stay the rays of light that you have all been since you started working together. The rest will take care of itself." Jor-El said.

"Is there anything else that we need to know before we leave?" Clark asked.

"That is all I have for now. I will let you know if I find out anything else." Jor-El said and the heroes nodded and flew out of the fortress, making their way to the farm so that they could call a team meeting.

. . .

Later that night the team was all meeting at the farm. Lucy was even included in the meeting since she knew about everyone anyway.

"So, what was so important that we had to meet earlier than we usually do?" Oliver asked.

"Jor-El called us up to the fortress today and told us about a darkness that came through the portal that we used to send Zod and his people away. We don't know much about it, but what we do know is that it feeds off of all of our darkest fears, anger, and any other thing that is considered dark. We won't even see it. It will just feed and we won't even know that it was there." Clark said.

"How are we supposed to stop something like this? Everyone has some darkness in them. It is natural. This darkness that you are talking about will take over everyone because who doesn't have those sorts of thoughts every now and then." Chloe said.

"I know and I don't know what to tell you. We just thought that it was a good thing to tell you all so that you would know what to do and what not to do." Lois said.

"That's nice. So, in other words, we just need to not do anything that will feed this darkness?" Jimmy said.

"Yeah, I know it is going to be hard, but I think we can all get through this and when we find out how to counter this darkness, we will get rid of it for good." Clark said and all the heroes that were present nodded in agreement.

"Well, I am going to go back to the penthouse and send a message to the rest of the team. I think we need to let them know what is going on." Oliver said.

"That is a smart idea. Thanks Oliver." Clark said and everyone that didn't live at the farm got up and left.

. . .

Clark, Lois, and Kara were flying over Metropolis doing their patrol for the night and they couldn't get the thought about the darkness out of their heads. They knew that they needed to live their lives but how were they supposed to do that when something could take over their bodies and control them was out there.

Soon they found out that nothing was going on so they decided to call it a night and head back to the farm. Once they all got there, they could tell that the others were thinking about the darkness as well.

"We need to do something about this. We can't keep going on like this. We are all distracted because of this darkness." Lois said.

"I know. I just don't know what to do. I know we will figure it out. It's just that nothing is coming to mind right now." Clark said.

"We can't keep stressing ourselves like this. It isn't good for any of us. We just need to relax and hopefully something will come to us." Kara said.

"I know you are right, Kara. We just need to find a way to do that." Lois said.

"We will. I have confidence in us." Kara said with a smile.

Just then Lucy walked down the stairs and saw them all standing there talking. "So how was your patrol tonight?" Lucy asked.

"It was fine. We didn't find anything that needed our help." Lois said.

"Well, that is a good thing. Why do you guys look so upset then?" Lucy asked.

"Are you telling me that you aren't upset that something is out there that can take control of us if we give in to the darkness?" Lois asked.

"I figured that there wasn't much that I could do and I know that you guys will come up with something to stop this, so I just let it go for now." Lucy said.

"I wish I could do that. It would make things so much easier." Kara said.

"Yeah, me too. It would be good to let go of this stress for a while." Lois said.

"It would be nice, but this will keep us on our toes and make sure that take anything for granted." Clark said.

"You make a good point, Smallville. This might be stressful, but if we look at it the right way, we will always be on our toes and nothing will happen to us." Lois said and the other three nodded as they all walked upstairs and went to sleep as well as they could.
