New Beginnings:

Kushina Uzumaki fainted the moment she discovered she was pregnant. It wasn't the news the young eighteen-year-old wanted to hear. She had just gotten married to her childhood sweetheart not too long ago. A baby wasn't in their plans yet. Not to mention there was a damn war going on. Having grown up during the second shinobi world war, she hadn't planned on thinking of having a baby until the war was over.

Plus, there was the whole motherhood thing. Sure, she'd thought about what having a child of her own would be like from time to time, but then other priorities had taken over her life. Number one being her budding shinobi career. She'd just been made a Jonin a year ago, and she'd been hoping to become a sensei just to rub it in everyone's faces.

A dark expression came over the red-head's face. A baby is problematic at the moment because of another reason. She was a jinchuriki, the container of the Kyubi no Kitsune. Ten months of pregnancy would weaken her seal, allowing the demon to escape. With the war keeping Lord Jiraiya and Minato busy, they may not attend the birth to keep the demon locked away. Yeah, not good.

Kushina sighed. If she was this worried about the pregnancy, then she could only imagine how her poor husband was going to react. He'd remain calm on the outside, pretending that he had everything under control, but inside he'd probably would freak out. The irony didn't escape her. The man who always had a plan for everything couldn't possibly have planned on this.

Kushina places a hand over her womb. "Your Daddy is going to freak out," she says.

Talking to the baby inside of her unleashes a warm feeling inside of her. The reasons why this baby isn't a good idea now seem trivial. This is her and Minato's baby. Another Uzumaki and Namikaze to keep their names alive. The thought feels her with excitement. "Hello baby, I'm your Mommy. I can't wait to meet you," she says, her voice laced with love.

Now, how should she break the news to her husband?

Minato was due home from a mission today; however, he probably wouldn't get home until late. That should give her time to figure out something. Putting on her thinking pose, she wraps her brain as on how to go about it. Suddenly, she remembers that the doctor gave her a little print out of her ultrasound. A smile appears. She knows just what to do.

It was late, and the stars shone brightly over Konoha. Minato Namikaze was exhausted, as his mission to Suna had been difficult. For starters, the Kazekage wanted a new trade agreement between Konoha and Suna before he signed the treaty. It took three damn months before anyone could agree to anything. Honesty, he was glad this mission was over with. Now he wanted to go home and spend time with his wife.

The smell of Miso Soup hit his nostrils as he entered his home. "Kushina-hime, I'm home," he said, taking off his sandals at the entrance.

Minato walked into the living and dining room area where he found his wife placing a salad on the table. Spotting her husband. Kushina flashed him a warm smile. "Welcome home Minato," she said.

The blonde Jonin smiled back before a look of surprise took over his face. "Kushina-hime, you didn't have to cook," he said.

The red head smiled at her husband. "Actually, Minato-kun. I did. You see dear, it's a special occasion," she said.

The man had a confused expression. "A special occasion," he wondered? He quickly tried to remember what the date was. It wasn't their anniversary since that wasn't until August. He'd just celebrated his birthday last month, so it couldn't be that either, and Kushina's birthday wasn't until July. What could be more special than any of those days?

Minato cautiously looked at his wife, praying he didn't upset her with his question. "Um, what special occasion would that be, Kushina-hime?" he asked, his voice laced with nervousness.

Kushina had to force herself not to laugh. She was enjoying making Minato sweat. "Well, Minato-kun. Why don't you open the card I got you and see," she said, pointing to the yellow envelope on the table.

Minato gulps, but walks over to the table, where he cautiously moves to open the envelope. Inside is a card that says. "Surprise!" on the cover. Now he's curious. Something falls out as he opens the card and he quickly bends down to pick it up. The object looks like a picture of sort, but it's fallen face down. Turning it over, he's surprise to find a picture with a black background surrounding a little white speck. Confused, he looks at the card, hoping for some clarification. All the card says is. "Congratulations, Daddy."

From the kitchen, Kushina observes her husband's reaction. Once again, she finds it hard not to laugh. For once in his life, her genius husband doesn't seem to comprehend what he's reading. He keeps looking at her ultrasound photo and back at the card with a confused expression on his face. Until finally, Minato looks at her. "What is this, Kushina?" he asks.

Kushina chuckles. "What do you think it is?" she says, her voice laced in amusement.

Minato stares at her blankly. "A sonogram pic?" he says.

Kushina nods. "Very good Minato-kun. Now what do you think that picture is of?" she asks.

Minato looks back at the picture before looking back at his wife. "I want to say a baby, but that's," he cuts himself off when he sees the glint in Kushina's eyes.

Quickly, he looks back at the pic and the card before looking back at his wife. "This isn't a prank, is it?" he asks.

Kushina resists the urge to roll her eyes. Only her husband would think this is a prank. "No, Minato-kun. It's not. Congratulations, you're gonna be a father," she says.

The blonde stares at her blankly, and for a moment Kushina worries she's broken him. Then, before she can think of it further, she feels a strong set of arms pull her into a hug. "A baby! We're really gonna have a baby, Kushina-hime?" he says, his voiced laced with excitement. The man is practically jumping up and down now.

Kushina gives him a look of amazement. "You're happy about this?" she says. She needs to know for sure.

Minato pulls away from the hug to look at her. Confusion is all over his face. "Of course I'm happy! Why on earth wouldn't I be?" he asks.

Kushina's violet eyes darken. "You know, because of the war and the Kyubi," she says. She hates spoiling this moment, but she really wants her husband to think about it. This was a serious matter, and she didn't want him to resent her or the baby later on.

Minato's eyes darken at her words before he pushes those dark thoughts down. He refuses to let any of that ruin this happy moment. "I don't see what the war or the Kyubi have to do with this. Okay, I know why we're worried about the Kyubi, but I'm positive I can fix the seal in time before it breaks," he says.

Kushina smiles a little. "Okay, and the war?" she says.

Minato sighs, rubbing the back of his head. "Well, I guess you'll be out of commission for a while if you have the baby. You want the baby, right?" he asks with a bit of fear in his voice.

Kushina smiles the biggest smile he's ever seen. "Of course I do, you baka! I just wanted to make sure we were on the same page!" she says.

Minato breathes a sigh of relief before his blue eyes light up in excitement. "I'm gonna be a father!" he says.

Kushina claps. "And I'm gonna be a mother! Now let's eat before the food gets cold," she says.

Meanwhile:

Kurama's nine tails sway back and forth in content. He had obtained his memories of the distant future two months ago, and ever since, he'd been thinking of ways to help his future container. He said future container because he planned on resealing himself inside the blond gaki. Naru's seal was better and more comfortable for him than Kushina's. However, he wouldn't leave the red-head hung and dry since the little girl deserved her mother.

The first month of his return, he'd spent working on a plan. From what he'd gathered through Obito's rant on the battlefield, he knew that Madara and Zetsu had abducted him during the Kannabi Bridge mission that the gaki's Jonin sensei had been on. That's when Kaguya's plan had started, which meant he needed to change as much as possible before that time. The question was how? He could try to befriend Kushina but he knew the kunoichi wasn't interested in having any type of relationship with him. Which strikes that idea off the table. He sighed in frustration. He really needed the blond gaki, but she wasn't due to be born for several years. He couldn't just change when she was born, or could he?

The fox thought it over. When his Hagoromo had taught him the jutsu for time-travel, he didn't leave any rules or stipulations for him to follow. The old man's only concern had been for him to learn the jutsu just in case of emergency. "He probably never thought it would actually come down to that," he thought.

Kurama smiled. "Father just said to change things. Well then, I'll start by having Naru be born sooner," he said. To be honest, it wasn't that difficult for him to tamper with the birth control jutsu Kushina used. All he had to do was prevent her chakra from blocking off her reproductive organs, and woo la no birth control. He had timed it just right too, waiting until Minato's birthday to do it. Plus, this was his way of paying Kushina back for all the times she used her sealing chains on him. Vaguely, he wondered why he hadn't thought of doing this in the first timeline but then let it go, deciding not to dwell on it.

Two months later, step one of his plan: "Get Naru Back," was complete. Now it was time to begin step two, which was. "Get Asura on board and not possess Naru." That would be more difficult. Asura and Indra, despite their differences, did share one common trait: both were stubborn. So was he, and saving the future was way more important than continuing this stupid feud the two siblings had that should have ended when they died. Naru had been furious when she'd learned that she was the supposed reincarnation of Asura. He remembered her rant.

Kurama watched as Naru paced back and forth, glaring daggers at Hagoromo. "So let me get this straight. "You're telling me that I'm the reincarnation of your son, Asura? And the only reason he reincarnated is because he wants to finish some silly feud with his brother Indra?" she said, her voice strangely calm.

Hagoromo nodded. "Yes child, that is what I'm telling you," he said.

Naru leveled the sage with a cold glare. "So nothing I've done has been of my own will? None of my so called accomplishments have been my own, but your sons?" she said, hissing.

Hagoromo ignored the child's anger and nodded. "Yes, give or take a few things. You inherited all of Asura's traits. That includes his lack of natural talent and disinterest in academics, even though your new parents were both genius shinobi," he said.

Naru gritted her teeth. "How dare he! What right did he have to steal my life? He stole my possible life so he could continue this stupid feud with his brother? How fucking selfish!" she said.

Hagoromo sighed in frustration. "I didn't expect you to be so angry about this," he said.

Naru quirked an eyebrow. "How did you think I would react? Did you believe that I would actually be happy about this? Fuck that shit! The next time you see Asura's spirit, tell him I said that," she said.

Hagoromo kept quiet.

Kurama chuckled. Only his kit would have the guts to tell the Sage of Six Paths, Fuck you. Good times. On a serious note, he decided he would honor his kit's wishes and prevent, or try to prevent Asura from possessing her again. Which is why he was now standing in front of the man's ghost.

Asura's brown eyes stared up, confused at the fox demon. "Kurama, what are you doing here? More importantly, how'd you know I was going to be here?" he asked.

Kurama looked at the spirit as he tried to act nonchalantly. "Would you believe me if I said I was psychic," he said.

Asura tilted his head. "What do you mean by that Kurama?" he said, trying to read the demon.

The fox sighed. "What I'm saying is that I already know everything and how it turns out," he said. Man, he forgot how dense the man was.

Asura quirked an eyebrow. "You mean like the future? Don't be silly Kurama, no one can know that," he said.

Kurama smirked. "A time-traveler can and I do. Your father Hagoromo made the jutsu in case your cursed grandmother tried to come back. FYI, she did and managed to destroy the entire shinobi world. By the way, she used you and Indra to do so," he said.

Asura stared at him blankly. "So what does this have to do with me?" he asked, dumbly.

Kurama resisted the urge to smack him. "It has everything to do with you! First of all, my gaki in the original timeline was pissed about you taking over her body just so you could continue your stupid feud. Second, this is exactly what Kaguya wants. She's been using your feud with Indra to spread hatred in the shinobi world. As we speak, she's using your brother's current reincarnation, Madara Uchiha, to start her plan to bring herself to the living plane," he said.

Asura looked down in thought. "So grandmother has been using me and Indra this whole time, yea? Well, I need to get back out their and stop her then," he said, moving a step closer to Kushina's womb.

Kurama growled. "No, you dumb ass! You need to let this stupid feud go and let Naru be her own person. She was pissed at you by the way for taking over her body and robbing her of free will, as she puts it," he said.

Asura looked like he was about to protest. Before he could, Kurama hit him with one of his tails. Memories assaulted him. It was like watching a movie. He saw all the hardships Naru went through, all the friends and gains she made, but then he saw her lose it all. It was all thanks to Indra and him for playing right into their grandmother's hands. He suddenly felt stupid. He looked up at Kurama. "You aren't lying, I see," he said.

Kurama shook his head. "Now do you see why you need to let Naru be her own person?" he asked.

Asura bit his lip. "I do, but what if she can't fix it?" he said.

Kurama snorted. "I have faith in my kit. I wouldn't have performed the jutsu father taught me if I didn't. Plus, I will make sure she has her memories of the future to guide her," he said.

Asura thought about it for a moment before he sighed. "Alright, Kurama. You win. I was getting tired of this feud with Indra, anyway. Man! I wish I could see his face when he realizes I'm not fighting anymore!" he said, before he disappeared.

Kurama shook his head. "Man, I forgot how crazy Asura was. Oh well, step two complete! Damn I'm good," he thought to himself, pleased.
