I do not own Harry Potter.

This is a short chapter. Daphne/Harry will not be the focus of the story but I wanted to try writing a scene that fleshed out her character. Please Review, I will try to update in a few days.

"Daphne, can you do me a favour? Tori asked her in the saccharine tone which always meant trouble. Tori wasn't looking at her. She was staring at Potter and Patel on a date together. Not a match she expected but they seemed to be getting along well enough.

"That depends" She hedged while trying to seem dignified while she spoke with her mouth full.

Tori turned towards her and smiled. "I really can't stand Potter's ineffectual attempt at flirting, I think you should just crash their dates."

"Tori, That is extremely rude and I barely know them." Potter seemed to be doing fine, Patel was laughing at something he said. Maybe she was laughing at him.

"Jealous of Patel?" She teased.

Tori smiled. " I am very jealous of Padma."

Daphne nodded. " She is a prodigy and she is pretty."

"Look, Daph. My knees are hurting me, I told you I didn't want to apparate but you dragged me here. Can you just do it?" Daph looked down in shame, she had dragged her to the restaurant and Tori rarely pulled the I-Have-The-Blood-curse card on her.

"I don't think Draco is going to appreciate your interest in Potter of all people."

Astoria pulled out her wand started to apply a family spell to relieve pain.

"Fine, Wish me luck." Daphne replied getting up from her chair. She took a second to stand straight and assess the situation. This was going to be fucking awkward, might as well lean into it.

Harry and Padma were getting along well. Harry didn't feel any spark with her but it was comfortable. Padma was describing some of her research when he saw someone looming over their table. They turned towards the woman. Harry was stunned for the moment to see a remarkably pretty woman smiling at them.

"Can I have an autograph from the Boy-Who-Lived?" She asked with a wicked grin on his face.

Harry was annoyed but giving his 'fans' what they wanted was the easiest way to get rid of them. He nodded and reached for his quill.

The woman started to laugh. "I am sorry but I thought you would recognize me."

Padma had an amused smile on her face, "Hello Greengrass."

Ah, Fuck. She did seem familiar but he has been too busy to remember the quieter slytherin's.

"Can I take a seat?" She asked and promptly she sat down before he could refuse.

"I am offended, Potter. I was one of the prettiest girls in our year. You should have noticed me." she said softly.

It was an incredibly vain thing to say but Harry found himself smiling.

" I had more pressing concerns." Harry shot back.

She grinned at him, "That is true, you always found ways to get in trouble."

"Patel!" She yelled.

"Are you mastering in Runes?" she asked her. " You were a prodigy in Hogwarts." She said

Padma was hesitant but shook her head. "I am working on mastery in Biological curse breaking."

Daphne frowned for a second before nodding.

"It is an interesting avenue for research. " Daphne muttered.

Harry again felt like he was missing something. He didn't know what had gone wrong but both of them had been getting on well but the mood was dead now. Padma hadn't seemed to mind this woman interrupting their date but both of them looked morose.

"What have you been up to, Greengrass?" He asked trying to change the subject. She seemed to be relieved to have something to speak about.

"I work for my father's business." She answered.

"Nothing exciting, I am thankful I don't have to dodge the Unforgiveable for a living."

"I would have been dodging them for free if I wasn't an Auror. "

Padma seemed to be staring at a woman who was sitting alone a few tables behind her.

"Patel, I mean no harm by this but I don't think my sister will appreciate any question you have about her condition. " Daphne said bluntly.

Padma raised her eyebrow. "I don't think she will mind." She answered before getting up.

"You can just read the report by Wolff." She snapped.

"He offers it around like candy doesn't he?" She asked.

"He does ." Padma agreed "But I want to talk to Tori myself."

"Harry, I am sorry but I think we should call it a night." She said. "We should go somewhere more private next time." She said giving Daphne a dirty look before walking over to where the woman was sitting.

Daphne sighed. "I am sorry for ruining your date, Potter."

"Please stick around and watch Patel being made a fool by my sister." She said

"Think of it as a peace offering."

"I think it will be fine. Padma isn't a rude person."

"A wager?" She asked

Harry nodded, "10 Galleon?"

"Sure." Harry didn't know why he wanted to stay. Greengrass was fun but she also seemed to be rude, vain and a Slytherin to boot. He should be leaving but he wanted to stay and how crazy Greengrass could get.
