Goku's eyes widened as he heard those words.

"I will recreate this universe, making it so you and all the universes connected to yours will alter with it. You will not remember your life as a man, but instead be as you would have always been, a woman."

Goku wasn't the first to admit that he wasn't the sharpest tool in the box, but even he knew what this meant: This "Zeno" person was about to erase everyone he ever knew and loved, and replace them with what he had been told about. The saiyan stammered:

"W-Wait a mi-!"

Before Goku could even finish his words, Zeno raised his hands into the air, and his palms and eyes began to glow.

"Here we go!"

Suddenly, a bright flash of light engulfed Goku, and the saiyan realized it was over. His life flashed before his eyes; His friends, family, everyone. In what appeared to be his final moments, Goku thought back to what had led to this; His final encounter with Vegeta.

One year prior….

Goku landed gracefully on the ground as Shenron disappeared. It had been about 4 years since the battle with Omega Shenron, and earth had made very good progress repairing itself. Goku had been allowed one last chance to return to earth before joining shenron in the dragon realm for the next 96 years, and he knew who he was going to spend this day with.

The saiyan put two fingers on his forehead, and searched for the energy of an old friend. He then teleported…. Right into one of Vegeta's punches.

"Y-Yow!"

"What the-Kakarot?!"

Goku got up and rubbed his cheek, then said to himself;

"Note to self, Always be on guard when teleporting to Vegeta."

The prince was just confused. Didn't Kakarot leave with shenron 4 years ago?

"What the hell are you doing here Kakarot?!"

Goku explained about his one day on earth, and that he wanted to have one final spar with Vegeta. The prince of course agreed, and the two entered the time chamber, since Vegeta had been training on the lookout. Once they were inside, the 2 saiyans assumed the same battle stances they did in their very first battle.

"Heh, I hope you haven't been slacking on me Vegeta."

"Hmph, not on my life, old friend. In fact, I've discovered something rather interesting."

Without dropping his stance, Vegeta's eyes turned golden, and his body was engulfed by a golden aura. The saiyan prince's eyes then turned blue, his hair grew down to his back and drooped off his shoulders, and his shirt exploded, revealing dark red fur across his chest and arms.

"V-Vegeta…."

"Did you really think I wouldn't find out how to use this form without that damn machine? After the battle with Omega I found out how to use the power of the great ape without transforming, and the rest was easy."

Goku then smirked and powered up to his Super Saiyan 4 form as well, reassuming his fighting stance right after.

"You really are a fighting genius Vegeta."

"Alright, come on!"

The two saiyans then launched at each other, their fists colliding and sending shockwaves across the void.

2 hours later, the two were lying exhausted on the ground.

"Heh heh, I haven't had a fight like that in years Vegeta."

"Likewise. Though that's helped by the fact that you're not an anklebiter anymore."

"Heh, yeah. So how has your family been doing?"

"They've been doing well. Bulla has a boyfriend now, but Trunks is still single. It's better than him mating with some weak earthling at least."

"You do know you're mated to an earthling, don't you Vegeta?"

Vegeta and Goku then stood up, and Vegeta's face changed to one of deep thought.

"No offense to the blue haired harpy I now call Bulma, but the only reason I mated with her is because she was the only human who resembled a saiyan."

"Yeah, I guess you have a point. There are no saiyan women around us."

Goku then rubbed the back of his head laughing.

"Heck, I would have to wonder what you would have done if I was female."

Vegeta then turned away from Goku's glance, his cheeks and ears blushing at the thought. The prince then began to snicker, closing his eyes and imagining a female Kakarot.

"I already know what I would have done. If you were a woman Kakarot, I would've kissed you, and had you resisted I would have forced you down and mated with you. Then you would be my woman and belong only to me."

Goku's jaw dropped and he blushed.

"W-wow Vegeta, I never knew you thought that way about me. I honestly thought you would just be angrier whenever I beat you."

The prince smirked, and then said:

"Don't you have a family you should be visiting Kakarot?"

Goku then perked up.

"Oh yeah, guess I forgot for a bit."

The two then exited the time chamber and went down to earth. And for the next 24 hours, Goku spent his time with his friends and family, making memories he would never forget. And unknown to Goku, this would be the final time he would ever see his family again.

After Goku's time on earth ran out and he went back with Shenron, the saiyan was still curious about how his life would have been if he was born female. He asked shenron about it, and shenron had shown him a year long vision of his life as a female. Overall, not much changed, and everything after Buu would've gone the exact same as it did in the real timeline.

However, the story had gained the attention of a certain Omni King, and that had led to what was happening now; the complete annihilation and recreation of the entire universe. Goku then thought what he believed to be his final thoughts:

"Chi-Chi, Gohan, Goten, everyone, I'm sorry."

However, fate had other plans for Son Goku.

Goku's eyes shot open as he jolted up on all fours. The saiyan was sweating intensely, and his eyes slowly wandered to his right hand. Wait….his?

Goku began thinking. Yes, his name was Son Goku. he remembered everything from his old life; the hunt for the dragon balls, the red ribbon army, the tournaments, the saiyans, everything. And it was his 'Goku' memories. Shouldn't those memories have been wiped? The saiyan raised on earth then stood up and looked at his surroundings. He was on mount paozu, near his old home. This was where the story of Rikku (The female Goku) was supposed to have ended.

Goku then turned his attention to his body, looking at his shoulders. They were exactly the same as they had been a minute ago, large and well defined. An unfamiliar voice from behind Goku then said;

"Ah, you're finally awake."

Goku turned around, and then saw what looked like the supreme kai, only this person was the size of a fully grown human male, had green skin, and his clothes and potara earrings were different colors.

"W-Who are you?"

The kai looked at Goku with what resembled pity.

"I am Zamasu, the supreme kai of universe 10."

Goku was shocked and confused.

"Universe 10?"

The kai, Zamasu, stared at Goku with anger.

"Of course a mortal like you would be confused by that. You see Goku, there are 12 universes in total. Each universe has a twin, with those universes adding up to 13. This universe is the seventh. Each universe has its own set of gods."

Hearing all of this information shocked Goku, who needed a few moments to come to terms with the fact that there were 11 other universes out there. However, the saiyan still had one question.

"How am I here? I thought that that Zeno guy…..was it all a dream?"

Zamasu looked at Goku with fake sadness, and then said;

"No Goku, it wasn't a dream. Everyone you love is gone. Not just dead….gone."

Goku's eyes widened once again. They….were gone? No, they couldn't be…..they couldn't be….

"If you have any doubts, go look at those tombstones over there and see what's written on them. I believe that will eliminate any remaining doubt you have."

Goku then looked to his right. Sure enough, there were 2 tombstones right in front of Grandpa Gohan's home. The stones looked like they hadn't been touched in years, moss and vines having grown around them and covering them in dust. Goku slowly began to walk over to the tombstones, though it was more like stumbling. Deep down, the saiyan knew exactly what awaited him, but blind hope that this was all a dream drove him forward.

Heh, he was beginning to sound like Mister Satan. The saiyan raised on earth knelt down and slowly put his hand on one of the stones, and this terrified him. Just the thought of what was on the tombstone terrified Goku more than anything he had ever faced before. His hand visibly trembling, Goku slowly rubbed the dust off of the stone.

It was two words. Two simple words. But those words were the things that shattered Son Goku from the inside out. Those two words confirmed Goku's worst fears. And those words were…. Rikku Son.

"No, nonononono, please kami no….."

Through his tears, Goku could barely make out the dates and words on the stone.

'Beloved mother, lover, and devoted friend. 737-767.'

767. That was the year the cell games took place. Either he was in the 7 years before Buu or...

"Yes Goku, this is the timeline where you died of the heart virus. But as you can see, things are different now."

Goku didn't even register what Zamasu was saying; he was too trapped in his 1 million thoughts. He could also hear several noises; a heart monitor, a woman screaming in agony, and a baby crying. The saiyan raised on earth then heard a soft, almost angelic voice say;

'Goten. His name is Goten.'

Goku then looked to the heavens and cried out in agony. Not in physical pain, but in emotional pain. Everyone was dead, no, dead didn't even begin to describe it. They had been wiped from existence. Goku then stood up, turned around and looked at Zamasu, who was simply giving him an emotionless glare.

Goku then turned to face the second tombstone, and with much less hesitation he swiped the dust off. The saiyan wished that he hadn't right after, as on the stone were the words;

'Here lies Chi-Chi Ox, daughter, friend, mother.'

Tears began to fall down Goku's eyes once again. Chi-chi was dead too. His wife was gone, even in this twisted world. Goku then noticed something in front of Rikuu's tombstone, A perfectly spherical stone. Of course it was a stone, Piccolo and Kami were long dead. Goku then picked up the stone and held it in his palm, a reminder that he was now truly alone.

Enraged, Goku looked at Rikku's tombstone, and blasted it to pieces with a kiai. Suddenly, Goku heard someone yell;

"What was that?!"

Zamasu then disappeared with what appeared to be the kais instantaneous movement, and Goku's eyes widened as he saw who was running towards him. It was a woman who looked almost exactly like Chi-Chi, except for….the eyes. Goku knew those eyes all too well. Android 17. Goku remembered back to Shenron's story; How Chi-Chi and Android 17 had a daughter named Rika. This had to be her. Any questions of how Rika could exist in this timeline faded away as Goku was overcome by a blind rage.

In those blue eyes he saw only the face of Super Android 17, laughing at him. Goku then drew his hand back, powered up to super saiyan and fired a ki wave, barely registering Rika's pregnant belly as she was vaporised.

As the saiyan raised on earth looked at the cloud of dust where Rika had stood a moment prior, he fell to his knees and began to weep. Goku let out all the self loathing, the pain and the sorrow, but then started to feel weird. He looked at his right hand again, and saw that blue particles were floating off it and his arm. Goku then looked up to Zamasu and asked;

"What's happening to me?"

Zamasu looked surprised, and then said;

"It seems that Zeno's erasure hit you, but it was delayed slightly. Well it looks like you're out of luck my friend. In 2 to 3 minutes you will be eradicated from existence. You soul won't even appear in the afterlife, since there is no afterlife for you anymore."

Goku stared blankly as Zamasu continued speaking.

"I guess you'll do those mortal things and start acting out, probably curse a god or two."

Goku took Zamasu's words into consideration as he stared at his hands in silence. He then smiled and said;

"This...is fine."

Zamasu was surprised as Goku said what he thought would be his final words;

"I guess...it's just too lonely to live without my family."

Zamasu then felt….pity towards this mortal? Something about how Goku was so accepting of his death made Zamasu sad. The universe 10 kai then walked up to Goku, knelt down and said;

"It doesn't have to be this way. I saved you for a reason, Goku. I too despise the mortals of this new reality, and If you and I were to team up, we could exact revenge on the gods who took everything from you!"

Zamasu then held out his hand.

"So what will it be Goku? Will you join me, or will you go the way of your reality?"

Goku stared at Zamasu's hand, and even I don't know the choice he made.

Author's note: Hey, so you probably want an explanation of what just happened. Let me explain. The "Why can't" series of fanfics was a trilogy of fanfics, with 2 spinoffs, made by Bmrdbgt in the late 2000s to the early 2010s. Here's the summary of the first part: "A one night love affair with Vegeta gets Goku thinking what would happen if his life was changed. Shenron being the eternal dragon that he is grants his wish and shows him what life would have been like if things had been...a lil different." The final chapter of the saga, "Why can't we", was finished a month after battle of gods was realised. Three years later, Bmrdbgt made a continuation called "Why can't the gods" that led into Dragon Ball Super. But since the original fanfic trilogy was made before DBS, he began the story with Zeno converting the main GT timeline into the DBS Rikku timeline. However, he only covered Battle Of Gods and the lead up to ROF. So, I decided to finish it myself, using ideas that had festered since I originally read the story. And that's it!

This is also meant to be a jumping off point for other fanfic writers to continue the story, since I don't know how to do multi chapter stories. And since the author was into yaoi and I'm not, I removed all the gay stuff.
