Hey there, it's me again. Here's another chapter. And to thekeeperofmagick. I like your idea of giving Percy magic, I'll have to consider it. But Percy has never lost his water powers, i'll explain it more later. And people want nice guy Jason so I have a plan that i'll tell you at the end of the chapter. For now, enjoy.
Chapter 12
Percy's eyes opened. He looked around. He was in a hunter's tent. Ah of course, he was Diana's son now. He now lives here. With the hunters. As a hunter? Percy pondered, was he a hunter now? He'd have to ask Diana later. But for now, his focus was getting up. He looked down at his dirty grim covered clothes and realised that he hadn't had the chance to clean himself. He undressed and just threw his clothes into the campfire in the middle of his tent. He remembered that due to being Hestia/Vesta's he could control fire now. So, he held out his hand and imagined flames dancing off the edges of his fingers and flowing into the campfire. He flared out his hand expecting flames to pour out and light the fire. But… no. Nothing happened. Percy heard a laugh and whipped around, standing by his tent door.
Standing by the door was a warm-hearted woman, the goddess Hestia.
"Lady Hestia." Percy said with a little bow.
Hestia frowned,
"You're my champion and my nephew, call my Auntie Hestia."
He chuckled,
"If you say so Auntie."
She smiled gently and started talking,
"I could tell that you were trying to use your fire powers, but just know that it will not come as easily as your water powers, however they can be just as powerful, you just need some more practice."
Hestia smirked and all of a sudden the campfire Percy was trying to light earlier burst into flames creating a warm glow around the tent.
"Please teach me Aunt Hestia?"
Percy said hopefully, he really wanted some fire powers. He couldn't wait at all to use them.
Am I an arsonist? He thought to himself.
Hestia chuckled,
"Of course I am, I don't have time at the moment as I need to go tend to Camp Half-blood unfortunately,.."
Percy frowned,
"... but there are two things that i will tell you, to light a fire of sorts, just imagine a spark forming at the kindle and then it slowly growing. And as for fireballs,"
Percy was smiling again.
"click your fingers, imagine a spark forming as a result then its a similar principle to the fire, imagine it growing in your palm as you pour your power into it, then do what you wish with the fireball. As long as its nothing too sadistic."
Percy laughed, knowing Hestia was teasing him as he'd never do anything sadistic.
But what if I could.
The thought entered his mind quickly and left just as fast as it entered leaving Percy to ponder just what his inner thoughts meant.
The fire at the campfire
"Your turn Percy, try and light the fire."
He looked towards the camp fire, and focused. He closed his eyes, imagining the coals and the logs. Percy built up a spark in his mind and placed it on the campfire, it kindled slightly, and he willed some of his power into slowly it grew from a spark to a flame, then the fire was lit up. Hr opened his eyes to a raging fire and then they widened in shock. Hestia held out her hand and the fire was reduced to a standard campfire again. She turned and looked at a sheepish Percy.
"Just how much power did you put in?"
He tried to laugh it off but she heard him murmur "a lot."
She shook her head,
"What am I going to do with nephew?"
"How do you think I feel aunt Hestia? I'm now his mother."
By the doorway was Artemis - not Diana this time - smirking,
I guess she witnessed all of that then.
She walked over and gave Hestia a warm hug before doing the same for Percy.
"Don't burn down our camp this early Percy."
"Why is everyone insulting me?" Percy whined with a frown on his face.
"Because its easy to?"
Both Artemis and Percy turned to Hestia in shock.
"That is quite possibly the meanest thing you've ever said!"
Artemis said in shock.
"I mean its not even that mean but for you it is Auntie."
Percy said after recovering from his shock.
Hestia just smirked and looked at her imaginary watch on her wrist.
"Oh look at that it's time for me to go. Bye guys."
She flashed away leaving the smell of freshly baked cookies behind.
Percy and his mum looked at each other and in shock and burst out into laughter. After getting their breath back Artemis looked at him seriously.
"How are you feeling?"
He looked down,
"I'm better, i'm sorry for all of that, I didn't mean to worry anyone."
Artemis embraced him,
"I'm your mother its my job to worry."
He smiled and hugged his mother back.
"Now get ready, because you destroyed some of the camp you're going to have a training session with the hunters."
She smiled wickedly and he gulped.
Percy opened his tent door, stepped out and took a deep breathe. He felt refreshed. He looked around and saw...
Just how much damage he had done.
Well damn...
Around the camp trees had fallen, but all outwards as if a shock wave had spread out, and the epicentre was the camp. Some parts of the camp like the tents had been ruffled and some had fallen, but nothing was majorly damaged.
I need to reign in some of this power.
He thought to himself.
"PERCE!"
He turned his head slightly to see Thalia walking towards him.
"Hey Thal..."
"Fish breath your late, lets get down to the arena."
She grabbed his arm, delivering a small shock and making him jump.
Thalia dragged him towards the arena. It was a large tent, similar to a circus tent, but it was no joke. Weapons rack were scattered around the outskirts of the tent. In the centre, there was a large circle marked with stones - about 20 metres wide - and in the centre two hunters were fighting. They whipped their hunting blades, slashing and parrying, battling for control. Percy analysed their style, noticed how both of them were overextending after parrying, yet they didn't do anything about it. Their form could also improve slightly.
Finally one girl, Pheobe he believed, got the advantage by sweeping the other girl of of her feet and held the knife at her throat signalling the win. The hunters applauded and then the two fighting embraced and went over to the stand. But now they noticed Percy and Thalia.
Artemis jumped down from her perch behind the stand,
"So nice of you to join us Percy, but you're late."
He gulped,
"Um i'm sorry?"
Percy asked hoping he'd be let off easily.
"That doesn't cut it. But I know how you can make up for it"
Artemis smiled wickedly.
Uh oh.
"Girls I want you to pick 5 of you, because Percy here, is going to fight them, one after another."
There were multiple different reactions at this point. Well, two.
Percy had a look of horror.
And the hunters looked like they were about to have the time of their lives.
Now this is where it's going to get interesting as long as I don't take another 2 year long break. So anyway the plan with Jason if you guys like it, he's going to start off as a bit of a jerk because I'd quite like to have his character arc start that way, but after meeting Percy it all starts to change and he becomes a better person. Does that sound good? Just let me know in the reviews. Feel welcome to leave some by the way.
But until next time.
Addios, Kachowabunga and all that jazz.
