Sup lads. Its been a while. Again. Yes I am alive and to the person in the comments who asked am I British, yes I am. Brits for the win. These have really come slow haven't they, but assessments for college are now finally done and maybe ill update more, we'll see. I haven't even written too much of my original horror novel that I was supposed to be writing but that idea is all my head. Ideally I wanna finish this and I still know where its going I think, its just gonna take a while. So anyway lads, on with this if I can remember how the story has been going.
The flashbacks will all be in Italics, current time will be normal text.
(Chapter 17)
Well then, what a month this was... And its only the first of three.
Percy sat on the cliff thinking about it. He'd started his training, this month was with Apollo while he helped Lettie adjust. Then next month would be Vesta and the final month with Hades. Diana had been training the entire time and he was already feeling a physical difference. Percy got up and started walking up stream towards camp and paying attention to his reflection in the waters reflection. Whereas before he was skinny but had some muscle, he had really started to fill out. His muscles were obviously toned now and physically he was a lot stronger. His hair was still black with auburn streaks built being in the sun a lot had lightened his hair a bit meaning it was more near black dark brown with auburn highlights. And finally his eyes, previously filled with pain and sorrow... were still pain and sorrow but now it was hidden behind by a layer of happiness.
Since arriving and helping him train Percy had seen a different side of some of the Olympians that he had never expected. They were warmer to the people they respected, rather than the normal cold and distant they show to demigods. The way he saw it, the Olympians now treated him as family instead of the demigod he was. Percy was truly thankful, because he may have lost his family, but he was slowly being accepted into his other one. It makes sense, being the child of Diana meant that Apollo was now a true uncle and due to him being the saviour of Olympus everyone else now treated him as family. Except for Poseidon of course, the no good dirt bag. Thinking back to that day, which he now realised was in fact his 16th birthday, Percy sometimes thought he was over reacting snapping at Poseidon like that. But the thing was, he didn't. He had just lost his mother, had the fight of his life and he never did forgive Poseidon for abandoning him. Even if the gods couldn't interfere, it didn't mean he couldn't do anything about the upbringing Percy had with Gabe. But that's a rabbit hole that he would rather not go into.
When is came to training, Apollo had been helping him this month and they just finished today where Percy learnt how to inflict minor illnesses upon people but was unable to test it due to everyone at the camp being immortal. He had also been practicing his sword fighting a lot more, he wanted to get the most out of this new sword he had. The spoils of the Chimera. He brought out the sword and brought it out and stared at it. The hilt was standard leather but head teeth at the base of the blade (the chimera's teeth Percy presumed) and the bottom of the hilt was a single black gem studded in it. Then you had the blade, two metals fused in a camo pattern where you could see they had melted together but not melted. He knew that one of the metals was celestial bronze but was also told by Diana that the other metal was imperial gold which was the standard metal of the roman demigods which was typical he supposed considering the fact that he was also technically roman now. Originally when training with duel blades Percy was doing it alone and occasionally Thalia (but in all honesty he had avoided that fight as he knew that he outmatched her and didn't want to dislodge her place as the superior fighter in the hunt) but at the end of the 3rd week, he had gained a couple of sparing partners. Things were looking up but it had been a busy month.
So Percy simply sat facing the ocean just thinking about the past month and that weird little voice that was still there, alas only sometimes...
(2 weeks after Lettie was brought to the hunters)
"So Percy, while you have come far in these couple weeks, there are a lot more about my powers you have to learn. I may be chill but I have a few more unexpected powers that you have access to." Apollo called while sitting on top of a rock in a clearing while Percy sat 10 metres away who was able to manipulate the light quite a bit better now. Whereas before being trained, Percy was good but his powers were not enough to cause any damage just distract similarly to the gorgons earlier, he could now send good sun beams that could disorientate and also knock enemies..
"Since I blessed you as a Roman you will receive heavy powers over the sun but you do also have all the powers of my kids but also some over the sun but also something else..."
Apollo jumped off the boulder and casually strolled towards Percy.
"People seem to forget that I am also the god of plagues." He said winking at Percy.
Percy cocked his head and looked at him with curiosity.
"So what does that mean for me exactly?"
"Well you can make people feel minorly ill or even cure them from minor illnesses but as you become more powerful and can utilise these abilities more you can control some more.. potent illnesses." Apollo said before noticing the still confused look on Percy's face.
"You have all these abilities and powers and yet I have never came across any of your children with these abilities. How so?"
Apollo nodded like he expected the question.
"What people don't realise is that as Olympians we can actually decide the powers that the people we bless or even our children have. That is why you notice that my children dont have too many of my more... out there powers. I gave you my full blessing because while I love all my children they seem to sometimes become... to look for a nice word challenging. The last child that I blessed with one of my better domains was actually a descendant of mine with fate and prophecy. But unfortunately he is now a power hungry arsehole who you will undoubtedly meet soon."
Percy nodded at this not wanting to know more about his future, he had enough of that even though he would most likely be involved in the new great prophecy knowing his luck.
"So none of your children have the full extent of your powers?"
Apollo hesitated before saying one word.
"Lettie."
Percy had a feeling this would be the case, he had never seen a god showing so much love and care to a demigod child before. He showed so much affection to Lettie while he was here to help Percy train that it was to be expected she would have the full extent of his powers.
"Does that mean everything or everything I have?" Percy queried, he may not be up himself but he certainly was a good benchmark when it came to the powers of Apollo considering how many he had of his.
Apollo paused for a second as if pondering how to phrase his answer,
"She will be the most powerful child I have ever had, she will have many more powers than you, no offence, and should anything ever happen to me, well..."
Apollo looked off into the distance as if he knew something that no one else did.
"She would be my heir."
Now this did shock Percy, while had been expecting a lot from Lettie, being a full on heir he did not expect.
"Well Percy I do think these concludes our training for this week before I melt your brain anymore, however I will be back to help you with the plague stuff. Also good luck for your training, I heard that even with both Diana's and I's blessing you still kinda suck at archery which I know my sister is not happy with." He said with a wink.
Percy groaned knowing it was true, even though he had improved and was now finally hitting the target, as a son of Diana, the GODDESS OF ARCHERY, it sucked.
"Don't remind me uncle. I love mum but I know she will not let me get away with being mediocre at archery." Apollo chuckled at Percy's frustration.
Percy was getting used to calling Diana mum now, she had really saved him. While he had lost his birth mum and would never forgot Sally Jackson, Diana was doing the best job at being a parent. Well except for the archery lessons...
"You're right about that son, you best believe that if I'm going to have a son that they better be good at archery."
Diana said jumping out of a tree.
'She must have been watching.' Percy thought.
"I hear that you're leaving Apollo." Diana said as she gave embraced him saying goodbye.
The past few weeks had really been good on their relationship. They had become closer similarly to when they were younger and Percy suspected it was due to the fact that Apollo had shed his immaturity and womanising ways in favour of being a good father to Lettie and frankly, its what Diana wanted Apollo to be.
"Don't worry Di, I know that you'll miss me little sis."
"I'll castrate you if you call me little sis again."
Doesn't mean Diana minded being called little sis though.
Apollo simply laughed at the empty threat until a hunting knife appeared in her hand and he physically gulped.
"I'm going to go and say goodbye to Lettie then ill be off." Apollo said nervously slowly backing away until nearly running back towards the main camp.
Percy and Diana looked at each other, laughed and embraced.
"How is your training coming along with Apollo Percy? He better be treating you well." She said with motherly protection in her voice.
Percy laughed and nodded.
"Its going well, he just wants to teach my about plagues next week then that's my training with him done for now. I'll just have to continue practicing on my own after that." He commented after realising that next month he began his training with Hestia/Vesta. Percy still didn't entirely get the whole Roman thing but he was trying. He only knew Diana as Diana because that was his mother. Not to say that if she was in her Artemis aspect she wasn't, but as Diana she was far more mother looking I guess you could say.
Her auburn hair flowed just past her shoulders and her face looked older than her other form which mostly appeared as an early teen whereas Diana looked to be about late twenties. It wasn't as weird with Percy's mum looking late twenties than younger than him he thought briefly he thought.
"I'm glad that your training is coming along well but its time for archery then you can relax and have dinner." Percy paled as Diana had a nearly cruel smile, which still somehow had some form of motherly love behind it.
She summoned some targets and gave him a bow and ordered him into position. Percy stood awkwardly trying to get his posture right. Diana just face palmed and helped correct where he was so obviously failing. He pulled back the bow string and released the bow where it managed to hit the rim of the target. Percy turned to him mum and commented on his shot.
"Hey at least its better than we first tried?"
Diana shuddered remebering their first training session where even with both hers and Apollos blessing he had nearly hit her with the arrow when she was stood behind him.
"You're my son you will hit the target."
"But what about the other powers you said you would teach me? The shapeshifting and moon manipulation."
Diana shook her head,
"Until you hit the bullseye you will not be using any of those powers now try again."
They kept on going with Percy not being close to the middle. It was taking so long the training that he was getting tired, until the moon came out that was. Suddenly he felt full of energy and pulled back the bow string and fired off an arrow well and true and it hit the bullseye. Against all odds it had hit the bullseye. He turned around ecstatic to a blank Diana and Percy's face dropped. He had been so excited to hit his first bullseye but Diana just looked bored.
"Why are you not as excited as I am mum? I hit the bullseye, for the first time! We can start working on the other powers!"
Diana laughed at him and pointed up towards the moon.
Percy looked at her confused.
"You seem to forget another one of the powers that you received from me."
Percy's face dropped as he remembered that in the moonlight everything about him was enhanced and apparently it meant that he could shoot straight.
"So technically you are still yet to hit it GENUINLY and therefore more archery." She started laughing and embraced her son who just looked out right sad.
"Fine, but please can we just try the other powers soon."
"Not today Percy, not until you can shoot straight but we are done today anyway."
His godly mother chuckled glad that he realised he could not get everything that he wanted. Diana was not gonna spoil her first child straight away.
Percy accepted his fate and sighed as he pulled away from the hug and they started walking towards the dinner table where the hunters had already started to prepare dinner.
Once they got to dinner Diana became Artemis and sat at the head of the table as most of her hunters were still Greek. Percy went to his seat which was at the end of the side next to Lettie, even though the hunters tolerated him and somewhat respected him, that did not mean they necessarily wanted to sit next to him. Except for Lettie of course who had taken a real liking to Percy which Diana loved and so did most of the hunters except only one of those parties would admit it. When he sat down Lettie being the sweet girl she was gave him a quick hug then helped herself to a huge serving of mash and the freshly hunted venison. How could a young girl eat so much they had no idea. Then once everyone had gotten some food the table burst into noise as all the hunters conversed and had a good dinner together. Except for Percy... He sat alone and silent with only the occasional word from Lettie to keep him company. While Artemis knew this happened a lot of nights, she could do nothing, she knew that somehow he needed to gain the hunters friendship on his own rather than her forcing the hunters to like him as it would only make this worse. And I guess that tonight was this night.
You could tell that the hunters - namely Phoebe and Tara who were still slightly salty about the loss despite their show of respect after - were planning something when they forged a makeshift catapult out of cutlery and napkins. They loaded mash onto it, aimed and released the deadly projectile, right into Percy's face...
They all burst out into laughter, Thalia was seemingly the loudest. Even Diana was laughing, but not Percy. He was deadly silent as he stood up. Everyone went quiet thinking he was truly angry. You never know with sometimes mentally unstable demigods. Quick as a flash Percy pulled something off the table and launched it at Tara and Pheobe.
The hunters gasped in shock.
They looked towards the two girls...
Who were both covered in mashed potatoes.
They both glared at Percy, but then they started to smile at Percy who went from a look of fear to relief.
"It been a long time since someone actually had the balls to get us back Jackson." Phoebe remarked smirking bringing a smile to everyone at the table,
"However that does not mean we will let you get away with it." Tara then joked and proceeded to throw back some sauce which not only got Percy but also the surrounding hunters. Then all hell broke loose.
"FOOD FIGHT!" Lettie yelled and then the table erupted in fun and laughter.
Diana sat slightly further away smiling as she realised that they were getting along, all of them.
A food fight had brought together the hunters and Percy Jackson.
Well then, that's the first one in a while and its done. And its my longest chapter yet, not too interesting but its important. As will the next two chapters when I finally upload then within two years ideally. Then its Camp. Sorry I forget about this a lot. But i recently re read all the Percy Jackson and HOO books and forgot that HOO annoys me. Then I read titan of the hunt by vPxForerunner x which is still my favourite fanfic on this whole site which I actually took a lot of inspiration from (you'll see some of that influence later in the book). Speaking of which the next chapter has just been released so ill be off. Hope you enjoyed this, feel free to review and ill see you in like a year.
In a bit lads.
