Chapter 17

Bella's POV

We pulled up to Elijah's home and got out. We walked the little path to the backyard and through a small gate. I looked around at the Orchard and breathed it in.

"Why did you bring me here?" I asked him.

"Because you needed to a break from the humans and we haven't showed you the orchard." He said. I nodded and went to pick an apple from a tree.

"Why is it that you hate humans so much?" He asked me. I wiped off the apple and took a bite as I walked around.

"My mother hates the fact that her first and only daughter is a witch. She always wanted a human daughter, but as you heard on the phone the other day, she doesn't accept me. I have accepted who and what I am. When I read in the book of Damnation, that when I turn 13 that my brothers, Pogue and I will become immortal, I started seeing everything differently. Humans were just useless." I explained.

"So becoming immortal made you hate humans?" He asked.

"Yeah. They die to easily for me." I said shrugging. He nodded and motioned for me to sit on a small bench under one of the trees.

"What happened the night with Chase?" He asked sitting beside me. I looked at my apple after my next bite.

"Why?" I asked him.

"Your mother mentioned him and the night you should've died." He said.

"It's a night we don't like to talk about. Pogue, Kate, and I all got hurt badly because of him. He used Kate to get to Pogue, Pogue to get to Caleb and I, and Caleb to get to me. But Chase used Calebs girlfriend that night as a bargaining chip, thinking I won't save her. But he was wrong. I fought his spells and got her and Caleb safe." I said biting my apple again.

"Can you replay memories?" He asked.

"I can but you should ask Caleb to do it. Last time I showed it, Kate and I cried for hours." I told him.

"He won't kill me for asking, will he?" He asked.

"He shouldn't. You and the others mean something to me." I said laughing. I looked over at him and he nodded.

"So you care for us?" He asked.

"I said mean something to me. It doesn't imply anything." I told him. He pursed his lips and nodded. He stood up and offered me his hand. I took it and we walked around the for what seemed like minutes but turned into hours. He drove us back in silence. He parked in front of the house and I looked over at him.

"Thank you, Elijah. I enjoyed our afternoon away from the annoying humans." I said laughing. He smiled.

"It was my pleasure, Isabella." He said. I unbuckled my seatbelt and went to open the door but I was hauled across the console and into his lap. His lips pressed against mine passionately. I sighed and kissed him back. After a minute he pulled away. We were both panting.

"Ill see you at seven, my dear." He told me. I nodded numbly and slid out of the car. I walked around the car and went inside. I started on dinner as quickly as I could to get my mind off of Elijah. Soon enough everything was done at 615. I went upstairs to my room, showered, changed and did my hair. I decided on a navy blue, off the shoulder, dress with black heels. I was putting my finishing touches on my makeup when Kate walked in.

"So. Give me the details on you and Elijah." She said smirking.

"No details to be given." I told her.

"Oh come on! I'm not blind! I see the way you two look at each other! You're totally doing the deed and you two are catching feelings for each other." She scoffed.

"Doing the deed? What are we in High School now?" I asked her.

"Come on Bella! You have the same look on your face when you and Pogue were together in school!" She argued.

"We were 15! Both hormonal teenagers just wanting sex!" I said.

"But still in love with each other! Until I came along and ruined that!" She snapped at me.

'Ugh! Why are we arguing about this again?" I asked her.

'Because of you and Elijah! I can see that the two of you really like each other." She said sighing.

"So? Maybe we do, okay? But like every other love story in my life, there's always another girl that's gonna come back and he is gonna love more." I told her.

"How do you know she is gonna come back?" She asked me.

"They always do. Now, lets go enjoy some drinks, dinner, and small talk." I said motioning her out the door. She huffed and got up off the bed. We walked out and down the stairs. I checked on everything, made sure the maid had everything in order and I walked back to the living room.

"Bells. Looking very pretty!" Reid said smiling nervously.

"What did you break already?" I asked crossing my arms.

"Tyler and I were throwing a ball around and it hit the frame in the hall. Bellsy. I." He went to argue. I flashed my eyes and lifted my hand to throw him but someone elses hand stopped me.

"No surprise here. Already trying to throw your dinner guests out?" Niklaus asked me smirking.

"He may deserve it. He destroyed my frame for the hall portrait I have." I said glaring at Reid.

"Easy love. I can make a call and have it fixed tomorrow. Now I am parched." He said smiling. I laughed and pulled him to the bar. I poured a few glasses of bourbon and handed him one.

"Finest in town." I told him.

"Careful. Wouldn't want Elijah getting jealous." He teased. I laughed again and shook my head.

"Easy Niklaus. There isn't enough space in this house big enough for yours and my guys' egos." I said patting his shoulder. I walked away and headed to Caleb. He was making small talk with Elijah.

"Bells." Caleb said smiling at me. I smiled at them and reached up and undid his tie.

"Better. Elijah, welcome." I said nodding to him.

"Thank you both for the invitation tonight." He said smiling.

"You're welcome. Drink Elijah?" Caleb said.

'Yes please." He said nodding. Caleb winked at me as he walked to the bar.

"I see you're still not a fan of the tie even for a special occasion." Elijah said smirking. I looked him over and bit my lip. He wore a navy suit, white shirt, but no tie.

"Well it does depend on the occasion, timing, and what its being used for." I said smirking back.

"My, my, Isabella. Such vial thoughts for an innocent woman." He said shaking his head.

"Oh honey, this is just the beginning." I said winking at him. He grinned. The doorbell rung and Thierry, Marcel, Jake and Paul walked in. I hugged each one of them.

"Hi! Welcome! Bar is stocked and ready to be demolished, dinner will be served momentarily." I said grinning. Elijah had walked over to Rebekah as she was talking with Kate. I stood at the entryway watching everyone.

"Here. Calm your nerves." Caleb said handing me a glass of wine. I laughed and sipped it.

"Did he ask you?" I asked him. He looked Elijah.

"Yeah. I told him when I felt good and ready to, I will show him." He said drinking his beer. I laughed and shook my head.

"He does like you baby girl. He just wants to understand what happened that night." He said.

"One of our kind was hungry for more power, he used our friends to get us. That's what happened. Theres nothing else to understand." I said shaking my head.

"Maybe he wants to understand our view." He said shrugging.

"Thank you for finishing up tonight. I really appreciate it, big brother." I told him. He smiled and slid an arm around me.

"Everyone! Id like to welcome you all to the first ever dinner to happen in the official new Danvers home. Thank you to our local friends for joining us tonight and welcoming us." Caleb said raising his glass. We raised our glasses and took a sip.

"Official new danvers home huh? Planning on staying here more than a few months?" I asked him.

"Baby girl I see the way Elijah looks at you. Like I said before, he likes you." He said smirking. I looked at Elijah and he smiled. I cleared my throat and shook my head.

"Well liking someone can go either way." I said sighing.

"Mrs. Danvers. Dinner is ready." Amelia said when she walked up. I nodded and clinked my glass.

"Everyone! Please join us in the dining room for dinner." I said smiling. We all walked in and sat down. We ate, talked, and enjoyed every second of it. The doorbell rung.

"Who could that be?" Caleb asked confused. I shrugged and got up to go see.
