Chapter 19

Elijah's POV

I returned home from the Bayou that Saturday morning. Hayley didn't need me for anything except the full moon happened and she wanted another familiar face. I walked inside our home to silence. It was unusual for Niklaus and Rebekah to be silent together.

"Niklaus! Rebekah?" I called out. Our maid walked out of Niklaus' library.

"Welcome home master Mikaelson. Your brother and sister have gone to the Danvers Manor for the day." She told me.

"Thank you." I said nodding. I walked back out and headed down the road. I parked my car behind Niklaus' and got out. I walked inside and into the den.

"Elijah." Rebekah said jumping up. She hugged me tightly and I returned her hug.

"Hello sister. Am I interrupting something?" I said looking at her and Kate.

"Not at all. The guys are in the dining room if you'd like to join them." Kate said smiling. Rebekah sat back down.

"Not quite yet. I was hoping to see a certain brunette that has annoyed me so." I said smirking.

"She didn't call you?" She asked confused.

"No. Why?" I asked.

"Shes gone Elijah. She left Thursday after dinner with the Abbotts." She said.

"Where did she go? Did she say when she was returning?" I asked her. She shook her head.

"Shes coming back but Caleb nor Pogue are sure when. She went to Italy, something to do in Volterra." She said shrugging.

"Well that helps, I guess." I said taking off my jacket. I hung it up and walked into the dining room where every other male was.

"Elijah, welcome. Pull up a seat." Caleb said nodding to an empty chair. I sat down and watched them play poker.

"How was dinner with the Abbotts?" I asked them.

"Horrible. Harold is a complete jackass like his son." Pogue said scoffing. I laughed.

"That he is." I agreed.

"He tried to get us to go back to school. Caleb might, but the rest of us don't want to go." Tyler said laying down a card.

"Then Ariel and Aaron just had to put their two cents in and make things worse. I swear if Caleb and Pogue didn't know how to control Bella, they both would be dead." Reid said laughing.

"How many glasses was she in?" I asked smirking.

"She went through two whole bottles." Pogue said smirking. I nodded.

"If you havent figured it out yet Elijah, Bella is very protective of us." Caleb said nodding.

"Oh I'm sure. She protects those she loves." I told him. He nodded again and looked at his cards.

"You know Bella and I may fight a lot Elijah but its only because I do what I need to do as a big brother, to protect her. She's my baby sister, she protected me when I needed it the most." He said sitting down his cards.

"Caleb." Pogue started.

"No. Its time they knew." He said interrupting him. Tyler and Reid sat their cards down as well.

"Know what?" Niklaus asked confused.

"Rebekah, Kate. Come in here will you?" Caleb called out. They walked in.

"Whats going on?" Rebekah asked.

"Caleb is gonna tell you about Chase." Pogue said sighing.

"What? Why?" Kate asked panicking.

"Bella wanted me too. I feel like it's the right time to do it." Caleb said sighing. He looked at his hands and sighed again.

"It was our senior year in high school, Bella's junior year, we had a party at the Dells like we do every year. We met this kid Chase Collins, he stopped me and Aaron from fighting. Well that night they found a kid dead in his car. Well as the days go by we start seeing darklings, feeling weird powerful vibes of magic." He started.

"Darklings?" I asked.

"A dark magic figure." Reid explained.

"Bella got the worst end of it though. Chase would use against her, make her have nightmares of what was coming, give her migraines at school, even weakened her enough she fell down the stairs. It was like he knew. Then as we got closer to my eighteenth birthday, he used in the pool once and I just knew. Once we figured it out we called a meeting. Then he used Kate to get to Pogue. Pogue to get to Bella and me, then Sarah to get to me, and me to get to Bella. When Pogue went to Kate we were walking out of the colony house, Bella collapsed, crying in pain. She could feel everything he was. Chase had attacked Pogue on his bike. Then it was my Eighteenth birthday. Reid and Tyler took Bella and Sarah to the Fall Festival and Sarah went missing. Bella knew. She came out to the barn, fought him off while I ascended, then once I was done she told me to save Sarah. That's when things got worse. He threw her through everything he could but no matter how she fought. I came back in and attacked. We were outside the barn when our mother told our father to give me his powers. Bella felt it. I heard her screams. As I got stronger, I attacked Chase after he attacked her. He was about to die when he willed Bella his powers. I heard her scream and I saw her collapse. After Chase died I went to her. She was dying and I didn't want to lose her. I begged her not to die. She just told me, she did her part as the protector, she was ready to die to save me. Then she closed her eyes and didn't wake up until four months later." He said sniffling. Kate was crying, Reid and Tyler just stared at the table, and Pogue just looked angry.

"Caleb. We are terribly sorry." Rebekah said holding back her tears.

"No. Don't be. We're all safe and everything is great." He said nodding.

"Show them. They need to see everything." Pogue said drinking his drink. Caleb sighed and flashed his eyes. We saw everything he talked about.

"I think Bella should tell them her side or atleast show them." Kate said.

"Id like to be there for that argument." Tyler scoffed.

"They have a right to know her side too." She argued.

"Kate they've had enough for the time being." Pogue said getting up. He walked out of the room. We left after that to give them some time alone. We were in the den.

"It pained her to much to tell us herself." Niklaus said filling three glasses.

"After basically being tortured by your own kind? Of course it pained her." Rebekah said sitting down.

"That would explain the scars on her back." I said going to the fireplace. We sat in silence drinking then Rebekah went to bed.

"You've fallen for Isabella." Niklaus stated.

"Sorta hard not too. She is different than any woman I've ever met." I said swirling my drink.

"I've grown attached to her myself, Elijah and so has Rebekah. So if you do anything to screw this up, if Caleb doesn't fulfill his brotherly duty of killing you, I'll personally dagger you myself." He said. I turned to him.

"I wouldn't have it any other way, brother." I said nodding. He nodded and raised his glass to it. We went to bed after. The next couple days passed quickly. Monday we were called to the Danvers Manor. We arrived and walked inside. A vase shattered against the door as we walked in.

"Isabella is home." Niklaus said.

"It appears so." I said looking at the broken vase. Kate walked in.

"Oh good, you're here. Bella is flipping out." She said sighing.

"What happened?" Rebekah asked.

"I don't know. She and Caleb are arguing about that now. By the looks of half the things that're broken, I'm guessing their mother." She said crossing her arms.

"Where are they?" I asked.

"Living room. Ive been banned to the den again." She said walking away. We walked into the living room and saw Isabella glaring at her brother.

"What in the bloody hell is going on?" Niklaus asked looking around. The room was pratically destroyed now.

"Ask her." Caleb said looking at Isabella.
