Because we were spending Christmas with Callie, she asked that we come with her to her family's Christmas dinner on the 23rd.

Which, is today.

Don't worry-because at first I thought the same thing- those insanely horrible people from Thanksgiving? We have to see them again?

Nope.

Thank god.

It is just Callie's parents and Aria and her family. And us, of course.

When we got there-to Callie's parents house- I immediately heard Lexi yelling.

I giggled. We hadn't seen her since Thanksgiving, I was excited. I liked Lexi- she was cute, and silly.

Then, Callie's Dad opened the front door.

"Merry Christmas! Come on in ladies!" He said, holding the door.

"Thank you. Merry Christmas Daddy," Callie kissed her Dad's cheek.

"Thank you! Merry Christmas!" Mom followed Callie inside.

"Thank you. Merry Christmas, sir." I copied Mom, adding in the 'sir' out of sudden nerves.

"Let me take your coats" Callie's Dad smiled warmly, and took all of our coats.

It wasn't seconds until Lexi ran in. "Tia!!!" She jumped on Callie. "Arizona! Olivia!" She waved at us.

Mom and I waved back, and then little Elijah came running in, followed by Aria and Michael.

"Lexi gave us the warning the second she could see your car from the street, Callie." Michael laughed.

"She loves her Tia." Aria smiled, hugging Mom. "Arizona! You look wonderful!"

I watched as Mom hugged her back, "Aw, so do you!"

Then Aria hugged me, "Hey, Olivia. How are you honey?"

"I'm good. How are you?" I smiled at her once she pulled away.

"I'm great, thank you!" Aria smiled right back.

Everyone said hello to everyone, and eventually, we headed into the living room. Once we started to sit down, Lexi squirmed out of Callie's grip and came to sit next to me.

"Hi!" Lexi smiled at me.

I giggled, "Hi Lexi!"

I heard Mom and Aria laughing.

"She has been talking about wanting to see Olivia forever. She was practically jumping off the walls all morning. She loves her." Aria laughed.

"Aw. That's so sweet." Mom replied.

"Did you know that tomorrow Santa comes?" Lexi asked me.

I nodded, "That is right. Santa does come tomorrow. Are you going to leave cookies for him?" I fed into it. She was little, of course she believed in Santa Claus.

Her eyes got all big and excited as she nodded. "Yes! And carrots for all the reindeer!" She bounced in her seat.

"I'm sure they'll love that."

"Reindeer love carrots!" She exclaimed.

"They do," I smiled. "What are you hoping to get from Santa?"

Lexi got very serious. "It's a secret."

"Oh."

"I can whisper it to you." Her voice got a little quieter.

"Okay," I nodded a little, tilting my head down.

She got closer to me and cupped her hands around her mouth, getting closer to my ear. "I want... a princess fire truck suit!" She whispered.

I gasped, and she giggled. I had no clue what that was. But, little kids tended to make things up.

"That sounds pretty awesome." I told her when she pulled away.

She nodded, "Shh don't tell anyone!"

"I won't!"

"Good." She smiled. "What do you want from Santa?"

"Hm. I don't know," I said. I really didn't know.

"Well, what was in your letter to Santa?" Lexi asked, as if everyone wrote letters to Santa. I guess that's what she thought. Oh to be a naive little kid.

"Oh yeah!" I nodded, making her laugh. "I told Santa that I wanted some new clothes, and some art supplies!" I made something up off the top of my head.

"Me too!!" Lexi bounced in her seat again.

"Really?! That's so cool."

"I asked for paint! And a new paintbrush. Elijah ruined mine," She frowned for a second, but then smiled again, "And I asked for a unicorn coloring book!"

"Alexandra? Come help Abuela please!" I heard a voice say, who I quickly identified as Callie's Mom when I looked up.

"Okay." She looked at me. "Can Olivia come help too, Abuela?" She looked at Callie's Mom.

The woman nodded, "Sure, Olivia would you like to come?"

I glanced at Mom. She was laughing and talking with Callie, Michael, and Aria.

"Come on Olivia!" Lexi was stood up, tugging my arm.

I looked back at Callie's Mom, "Sure!"

She smiled at me.

I tapped Mom's shoulder, "I'll be right back," I told her. I knew it wasn't like I was going far, but part of me felt like I had to tell her. I don't know. Attachment, I guess.

Mom nodded, "Alright," A reassuring smile covered her face.

Then, off I went with Lexi and Callie's Mom.

"Alexandra, can you go get the napkins out of the cabinet. So then you can set the table." Callie's Mom said as we walked into the kitchen.

Lexi nodded and was off. Leaving me alone with Callie's Mom. I had never really talked to her by myself before.

"My granddaughter really looks up to you." She said as she grabbed some fancy looking white and red plates from a shelf. "It's very nice of you to be so kind with her."

"Of course. Do you need any help?" I asked.

"Oh sure!" She turned around, plates in hand. "Could you take these to the dining table?"

I nodded, and took the plates. Then I thought about it. I had no clue where that was. "Um..."

Callie's Mom smiled. "Out that way, turn left, and then it's on your right."

"Thanks." I smiled shyly, and off I went, following the directions. It wasn't far. This house just seemed huge to me.

"Olivia!" Lexi popped up from basically out of nowhere.

"Oh! You scared me," I laughed, setting the plates down.

"Sorry! You brought the plates! Now we just need the forks and knives from Abuela," Lexi started to run off.

"Here they are, here they are," I heard Callie's Mom say, and she walked into the room with a wooden box. She set it on the table. "Now you have everything?"

"Yes!" Lexi nodded.

"Alright, I'll leave you girls to it." Then, she left.

Lexi looked up at me. "First, we have to fold all the napkins. Usually Mama does that. Can you do it?" Lexi asked.

"Sure!" I nodded.

"Like triangles!"

I folded one, and then held it up to her, "This?"

"Yup!"

Lexi walked around the table, putting down one plate at a time as I folded all the napkins.

Once I finished, we put down the napkins, and then the utensils. Which had been in a wooden box. Weird.

Insanely fancy.

"It's perfect!" Lexi said, kneeling on one of the chairs, as she was just barely tall enough to see above the table.

I nodded my agreement.

I had concluded this would probably be a pretty fancy dinner, just from how the table was set.

But, despite the unusual level of fancy, I was having fun. That's really all that mattered.
