"Olive. I'm really nervous." Mom admitted as I went through her closet. It was Valentine's Day. She and Callie were going on a date. She insisted on me helping her get ready.

"Mom, it's Callie. Why are you nervous?" I didn't get it. They had been together for a while- it was just like any other date. Mom wanted to live with her, but was nervous to go on a date. That- the moving in thing- hasn't been spoken of since our previous conversation, though. I guess she's just giving me time. I appreciate it.

"I've never been on a Valentine's Day date. Do you think it's any different? Is it fancier?! I don't know!" Mom said, her voice showing worry.

"You've never been on a Valentines date?!" I was a little surprised at first.

"Ok, once in high school. But that doesn't count." Mom laughed.

I sighed. I forgot for a second. Dad didn't celebrate Valentine's Day with Mom. "I'm sure you'll have a blast." I told her. "I'm leaning toward pants. It's kinda cold for a dress." I added on. I was trying to help pick out her outfit.

"Well, then I need a fancier shirt," She finished putting on whatever makeup product she had been using and stood next to me, peeking in the closet.

"What about the dark blue shirt?" I pointed to a flowy, lacy blue top hanging in her closet. It was pretty. Fancy, one may say. I liked it.

"Hm. That might work." She reached over and took it down.

"It'll make your eyes pop!" I said with a laugh. It was true. I knew it because that color made my eyes pop. I had my mom's eye color.

Mom smiled at that, holding it up to her eyes and opening them widely, making me laugh some more.

"Black pants." I told her. "And heels! Your black ones. I think that's perfect!" I said excitedly, happy I thought of an outfit that sounded like it would look good. Hopefully Mom liked it.

"I'll go try it on." She grabbed the shoes and pants, then headed toward the bathroom.

I waited for her, reading the names of the makeup products she had laying in front of the mirror, on top of her dresser. Some of the eyeshadows had really odd names. I had never really noticed that before.

I turned around when the bathroom door opened, seeing Mom walking into her room.

"I feel like I look good," Mom was smiling brightly. She did a little twirl, the flowy shirt circled around her, and her hair hit her face when she stopped.

"That's cuz you do look good!" I smiled back. "You look beautiful, Mom." She did. She always did, though. My mom is very pretty. I think any kid would say that about their Mom, though.

"Thanks baby. My fashion designer," She laughed.

I giggled.

"Callie should be here any minute. I gotta fix my hair, though."

"What's wrong with it?" I tilted my head.

"Well, the curls are falling out." Mom glanced at herself in the mirror.

"It looks pretty." I thought the loose waves looked nice.

Mom looked at herself for another moment, then smiled. "Yeah, it isn't bad."

"Are you still nervous?"

"Totally." Mom inhaled sharply.

"No need to be. It's Callie." I reassured.

"I know, I know." Mom came over and hugged me. "You're the best."

I smiled, hugging her back.

It only took a few minutes of waiting until Callie knocked on the door. I opened it, as Mom ended up fixing her hair. She was nervous- it was her way of calming her nerves.

"Hey Liv!"

"Hi! Mom is-"

"Coming. I'm right here!" Mom rushed out of her room, appearing behind me.

Callie smiled, "Hey, Ari."

"Calliope. Come on in! I'm just gonna grab my coat."

Callie stepped inside, handing Mom and I each a bouquet of flowers, and a box of chocolates.

"Happy Valentines Day, Liv!" She smiled at me, then looked at Mom. "Happy Valentines Day. You look amazing," They kissed. Cute? Gross? I still don't know.

"Aw! Happy Valentines Day Cal. Thank you. You look stunning. Hold on, I swear I got you flowers they are-"

"On the counter." I giggled. "Thanks Callie. These are pretty." I was surprised she had gotten me something. It was very sweet, though. I had only ever gotten flowers from Mom. This was nice.

"Of course!" Callie smiled brightly as Mom soon came back in, her flowers from Callie replaced with the flowers she had gotten for Callie.

"Happy Valentine's Day!!" Mom smiled as Callie took them, along with a little stuffed bear. I had convinced Mom to get that cause it was cute.

"Thank you!" They kissed again. Wow.

"It was very sweet of you to get something for Olivia." Mom said. I could tell it meant a lot to her- it meant a lot to me.

There were so many little things- like this- that Callie did, that showed me that she cared about me. It made me feel good. I liked that about her. She was sweet.

Callie smiled and nodded. "You ready to head out?" She looked at Mom.

Mom nodded, "I am! You wanna leave those here?"

"Yes please," Callie laughed.

At least Mom wasn't as nervous as their first date- when she just took the flowers with her- she had a little bit of common sense now.

"I'll put them in water, you guys go." I offered.

"You sure?" Mom asked.

"Yup." I nodded.

"Thanks honey. I love you! Call me if you need anything?" Mom hugged me tightly.

"Of course. I love you too. Have fun." I said to her.

"We will." Mom smiled when we pulled away.

I took the flowers from Callie.

"Thanks Liv." She smiled. "See you later."

"See you guys." I watched the two of them walk out the door, hand in hand. I heard Mom laughing. She was happy.

Once the car was gone, I went into the kitchen to put all these flowers in water.
