In the beginning of the week, Mom and Callie had decided that, eventually, we would be living together.
Tonight- Thursday night- Teddy and April were coming over to hang out and catch up.
They would be here any minute, actually.
Callie had work. Otherwise, I was she she would've came too.
"Mom?" I looked over at Mom.
"Yes?"
"Are you gonna tell April and Teddy?"
"Tell them what?"
"Uh... that you're- we're gonna live with Callie." I said matter of factly, despite my little slip up.
"Oh, yeah." Mom remembered. "I'm not sure. Why?"
"Why wouldn't you?!" I was surprised. I thought she would be more eager about it. I knew she was more eager about it.
"You think I should?" She tilted her head. She seemed a little unsure.
"Uh... duh! Definitely." I nodded my head quickly. I knew April and Teddy would be happy for her. They were her best friends.
There was a knock on the door.
"I'll get it." I said quickly, going to the door.
I smiled when I opened it to see both April and Teddy.
"Apparently we are in sync, we got here at the same time. No joke." Teddy said, pointing between her and April.
I laughed. "Hi!"
"Hey Livs!" April stepped forward and hugged me first.
Then, Teddy wrapped me in a big hug, picking me up off the ground. "You're getting so old." She said. She acted like she hadn't seen me in years.
I giggled as she set me back down. "I'm not!!" I said. Teddy just smiled at me.
April closed the front door.
Then, Mom appeared. She smiled, brushing the hair out of her face. "April! Teddy! I've missed you two." She hugged each of them.
After a little bit of catching up on what both April and Teddy have been up to, Teddy looked at me.
"So, what's new with you Liv? How's school?"
I sighed. "It's fine. Boring. Stupid."
April laughed, "Still getting good grades?"
"Of course she is! My little genius!" Mom piped in. Always so proud and willing to brag. Typical mom.
"Mom." All three of them laughed.
"I'm doing good in school. It's just... boring, ya know?" I think everyone my age would say the same thing. No one truly enjoyed school. I mean, maybe some people did. Your average teen didn't, though. I considered myself your average teen.
"I feel you." Teddy agreed.
"Teddy!" April scolded.
"What?!" Teddy held her hands up.
I giggled.
"School is great!" April said.
Teddy gave me a look, then changed the topic. "Any crushes?"
"Uh. No. You know, I'm only 15." I said.
"15 is a good age to start mingling!" Teddy encouraged.
Mom was quick to object. "Ah ah ah." She wrapped her arms around me. "Don't you go telling my sweet innocent Olivia that nonsense." She said. Half joking, but I knew part of her was serious. She was always very transparent with me about having to be careful. I mean, she got pregnant young, she didn't want the same thing to happen to me. Not like I was a bad thing- but it isn't the best situation to be in. Of course, crushes and dating didn't always lead to teen pregnancy. But, for her, it happened fast. She is just protective.
Teddy gave Mom a look.
"Ah! Shush." Mom laughed.
"What about you Arizona? Any big updates?!" April changed the conversation.
I looked up at Mom. Now was a good time. I tried to tell her to tell them through my eyes. I don't know how good I was at communicating through my eyes.
Mom smiled at me. Maybe I was kinda good at it.
"Actually, Olive and I have some exciting news!" She said after a few moments, loosening her grip around me.
April and Teddy both looked intrigued.
"After a lot of talking, we've decided that we are going to... eventually live with Callie!" Mom said.
I smiled at her, glad she told them.
"Aw Zona!" Teddy hugged Mom, which squished me between them.
"This is so exciting! So you guys are like... very very very serious?" April waited her turn for a hug.
"I'd say so!" Mom laughed as I wiggled our from in between the two of them.
I watched as April then hugged Mom, a huge smile on her face.
"That's so good! You excited, Liv?" Teddy looked at me.
I nodded, still smiling.
"Have you talked about where you'll live yet?!" April asked.
"We haven't gotten that far, actually. Just something we decided like... a couple days ago." Mom explained.
"Ohh! Are we the first to know?!" Teddy asked excitedly.
"You act like I would tell anyone else." Mom laughed.
Teddy shrugged.
A little while later, I walked into the kitchen, and April must've followed me, because she tapped on my arm. Mom and Teddy were still in the living room.
"So," April said, leaning against the counter.
"So?" I didn't quite know what she was getting at.
She tilted her head, "Moving in with Callie? How do you feel?" Her voice was quiet- so that no one else heard.
"I'm cool with it." I shrugged.
April raised an eyebrow.
"No seriously." I told her.
"Yeah?"
I nodded. "Callie even came and talked to me about it... I think this'll be good for Mom and I. Mom's really excited, too." I explained.
"Callie talked to you about moving?"
"Yeah. Just like... to make sure I was ok with it. She's really nice." I said with a smile.
"I know she's nice. You feel good about moving in, though?" April was always so worried about me.
"I do!" I nodded again. "It'll be a change... but I'll get used to it." I added on.
"It'll definitely be a change." April agreed.
"I'm happy about it- happy for Mom." I concluded.
April nodded, "Good. I just wanted to make sure." She smiled warmly.
I smiled back. I was grateful for April. I knew she was always there for me, it was nice. She always wanted to check up on me.
With that, she left me to get my drink, heading back to the living room with Mom and Teddy.
