"So. What kind of like... theme are you going for?" Callie asked after she grabbed a cart.
I shrugged, "I'm not too sure."
"Really? Hm. What's your favorite color?"
"Orange. But like... neon orange," I laughed. "And neon green!"
"So, neons?"
"Not neon yellow, though."
She laughed, "Neons- except for neon yellow. That could be a room theme!"
"That might be a little chaotic," I said as we walked toward the decor area.
"Yeah, I guess so. What about just one or two neons? Don't they have like... neon signs and stuff like that? Like the ones that light up!"
"That could be cool." I nodded.
"We can look for those. Ok... list. Most important is shower curtains. Let's get that first!"
I followed her, surprised by how she just knew where shower curtains were. Adult things, I guess.
"Ok. Two of these." She grabbed shower liners. "You can pick which one you'd like for your bathroom." She said to me. "I think we need something white... or tan. Let's see..." She started walked up the aisle a little.
I looked at some of them- there were so many. Like, literally every single color.
Callie soon came back over to me. "Stripes or chevron?" She held up two curtains. One had different shades of brown in stripes, and the other had those same shades, but in a chevron pattern.
"Stripes." I said.
" 'Kay cool." She put the chevron one back up, and then tossed the other one in the cart. "Are you liking any of these?"
"There's so many options." I laughed.
"There are. What about just a plain color for now?"
"Can I just do white?" I asked.
"If that's what you want! Of course!"
"Yeah, I think that's good." I grabbed a plain white one, and tossed it into the cart.
"Perfect!" Callie smiled. "And, I think the next aisle over is other bathroom stuff."
After we got the 'boring' stuff done- that's what Callie called the bathroom stuff- we moved on to room decor.
"Neon lights. You know, that stuff might be in the electronic area." She said. "Why don't we go look over there?"
When we found the aisle, Callie got overly excited about all the different kinds of lights. "What about led lights? I see people with these on Instagram all the time!"
I laughed.
"What? Oh, are they lame or something?" She asked, tilting her head.
"No! I think they're cool."
"Do you want some?"
"Uh, I dunno." I didn't want them to spend a lot of money on something as silly as room decor.
"I think that's a yes." Callie smiled. "Sometimes people put them at the top of the walls, I think." She looked at the box. "Ooh these can go under your bed. That would be pretty sick."
I looked at the box, nodding. "That would be cool."
"I think so, too." Callie tossed the box to the cart, and then kept looking around the aisle. "Oh here's what I was talking about! They have a lightening bolt... a cloud, a sun, a rainbow, a planet... what do you think?"
"The lightening bolt is cool!"
"You don't have to like it just cause I said it, by the way."
"No it's actually cool. Look, there's an orange one!"
"Oh perfect! You wanna get that one?"
"Sure!" I grabbed the box, putting it in the cart.
"Any other ones?"
"That's too much." I shook my head.
"What? No." Callie scrunched her eyebrows. "What else do you like?"
"I don't need any more." I said.
"Liv, all your walls are empty. You need more stuff." She laughed. "Cmon. Do you wanna look at other stuff? Or do you like any other ones?"
"The pink and orange planet is cool." I said after a few moments.
"I love that one!" Callie put the box in the cart. "Anything else?"
"We can look at other stuff..." I was still a little hesitant about the whole getting a lot of stuff thing. But, Callie was insisting.
"Okay! You'll need some shelves, right?"
"Yeah." I nodded. She led the way to the decor again, and we picked out plain white shelves.
"What about candles? Do you like candles? Something to put on the shelves. Or we can go with fake plants."
Callie was really going to town.
"Hm." I wasn't too sure.
"I'm sure we could find a bright orange candle. It would probably be like... citrus scented though. Do you like citrus?"
I nodded, "I do."
"Well, perfect." Callie laughed. We smelled a few different orange candles, ultimately agreeing citrus was the best of the scents, and then found the fake plants.
"Oh these are cool. People like put them on the wall and they fall down the wall," I pointed to some long vines.
"Get them! Also, I almost forgot that we need curtains- for both the bedrooms and the sliding door in the living room. I don't know why but that reminded me," She laughed.
I put the package in the cart, "Wanna get those next? I think I'm pretty set on stuff for my room."
"Yeah. Oh and bath mats for the bathrooms. Crap! Oh oops sorry." Callie spoke quickly.
I giggled, "It's ok. Curtains and bath mats."
I picked out white curtains for my bedroom, and Callie got light brown curtains for her and Mom's room. White curtains for the living room, too. Then we got bath mats- both just white, simple.
"You're sure you don't want to look at more stuff for your room?" Callie asked as we walked down the aisle.
"No, I think this is good."
"Alright. We can always come back if we need to. Now for the grocery shopping." She exaggerated. "We only need the basics. Your mom and I can do a real grocery shopping tomorrow or sometime this week."
We got the basic things- bread, milk, eggs, stuff for a salad. Some frozen foods. Boxes of pasta and cans of sauce.
I learned about Callie's love for energy drinks- which surprised me.
I told her about how Mom and I's go to drink was lemonade, so we got a bottle of that, too. We got frozen fruit for smoothies, because apparently Callie had 'the worlds most amazing blender.' And of course we got ice cream. Who doesn't love ice cream.
Soon enough we got the the checkout, and, after a quick stop to pick up the dinner Mom ordered, we were back home. At our new apartment.
