Season 1: Jaden Yuki and his Duel Spirit companion Yubel head to enter the prestigious Duel Academy and find that life is not always straight and narrow. They will meet new friends, rivals and enemies but also walk on a path where their is no going back and choices have outcomes. (Warning Mature Content is included)

6. Chapter 5: Late Night Engagement

Hello and we are going to finish of chapter 4 in this chapter, so I guess this is chapter 4.5 after all…. nah we are calling it chapter 5 so let us get into it.

Also, I have made some changes to previous chapters regarding the characters ages. I was writing this fanfic in accordance with my countries rules on age of consent but looking back on it I realise that not many readers would get this or understand it so to stay safe. I re-adjusted the ages of the main character to eighteen, except Syrus as he is now sixteen. I am sure you all would understand this change to avoid misunderstandings.

Chapter 5: Late Night Engagement

Slifer Dorm Main Hall (Some Time Later, Same Day)

The hall was abuzz with chatter as for the first time since the first of the slifer students arrived for the academies official start, they were in high spirits. Each one was confident that they had a chance at the academy, all thanks to Jaden who was oblivious to the chatter and enjoying his fried shrimp. He got lucky as it was indeed fired shrimp and it made the end of the day worth it. He sat with both Chumley and Syrus as they also tucked into their meals. Chumley appeared to be the happiest of the lot as being the sole remaining original slifer from the trial year, he never saw the dorm being in high spirits since its opening. The experience surprised Jaden on the inside as he observed his surroundings whilst enjoying his shrimp. It was a stark contrast to the group he met in the store and who watched his duel before his win and now after his win it was this. Even the dorm's headmaster seemed happy as he fed his cat some fish that he did not fry up for the meals. Looking up slightly, he sees both Yubel and Kuriboh relax on wooden beams above them, watching the festivities happen below them though Yubel appeared kind of bored whereas Kuriboh took interest in his surroundings.

"Hey Jaden, after what happened today, do you think you will be challenged to a duel again?" Syrus asked out of the blue.

"Huh? Oh, well I don't really know, maybe I guess but I doubt it will be very soon. I mean after I beat that guy Jeffery…"

"Gregory" Chumley interrupted.

"Yeah, that guy, after I beat Gregory, I don't think I will be challenged again for a while. Probably because either they are down in the dumps because I hurt their ego's for being a slifer who bested an obelisk, or they are plotting revenge and wont strike until they do so."

Syrus didn't think much of it as he went back to his eating, seemingly fine with Jaden's answer. Chumley on the other hand took interest in what Jaden had said and seemed to be contemplating on it.

"You know you could be right" he out forward. "The obelisks will no doubt not accept this humiliation, but I think the worse will be on Peterson."

Jaden became curious and wondered what Chumley meant, it also made him think that he can get a better understanding of how the other dorms work.

"How so?" he asked as Chumley took another bite, a rather large one.

"Well to the obelisks, winning is everything. Proof that you can duel, and you know how to use a deck so Peterson's defeat at your hands sent shockwaves as originally the only way to defeat an obelisk, is to be another obelisk" Chumley explained as he kept eating. "Save for a Ra here and there."

"But never a slifer?" Jaden inquired further.

"Exactly, you're the first."

With this new piece of info, Jaden pondered on what it may entail as if only an obelisk could beat an obelisk, then he did more than just win. He put a dent on the status quo with that one victory but the more he thought about it, he realized that he didn't just beat Peterson. He also defeated Dr Crowler, a teacher the obelisks looked up to and supported. And not just a teacher but also the head of the obelisk blue boy's dorm. So, he defeated the dorms own headmaster and one of its students, he wasn't sure how, but this is having a ripple effect with the obelisks and seeing how the store girl reacted when she found out who he was, thanks to Bastian, there is more in store for him at the academy after all.

"So, what do you think will happen to him, the guy I beat earlier?"

Chumley paused and pondered for a few seconds before giving an answer, and to eat again.

"Best case scenario, he is lectured hard by Crowler and given a chance to turn it around. Worst case scenario, he is kicked out of the dorm."

"Whoa, seriously?" Jaden inquired and received a nod from Chumley in response. "Does that apply to all the dorms?"

"Only regarding dueling performance, exam grades and class attendance but for Crowler and the bruised egos of the obelisk blue dorm. Yeah, you are kicked out and your student dorm status is reassigned."

Syrus was listening to the whole thing as he ate scoffed down his rice which was not commented on as everyone was scoffing down their food save for Banner.

"So, the next time Jaden meets that jerk, he will be in a different dorm?"

Chumley nodded with a shrug as to indicate that might be the case.

"What about Alexis's dorm, the obelisk blue girl's dorm? Are they the same or different?"

Chumley finally paused what he was doing and looked to Jaden in surprise.

"You know one of the obelisks, not only that but one of the elite-ten?" the large boy asked, with a full mouth but luckily nothing was spat out.

Both Jaden and Syrus nodded as Chumley gave a whistle.

"Well, that is unexpected" he said at first before swallowing what he had in his mouth, and it was quite a loud gulp. "To answer your question, pretty much yeah. The obelisk girl's blue dorm is the same and its members are very much worse than the other dorm with some exceptions. Alexis Rhodes and Nurse Fontaine."

"Really?" Syrus inquired but Jaden could ask further himself.

"Yeah, though Alexis never did much. She never mocked or said much to us. It was mainly her brother who stepped up and tried to help us to get through it."

"Her brother?" Jaden butted in before Syrus himself could ask further.

Chumley froze on the spot as if he realized that he overstepped his bounds or something. It did not go unnoticed to the two boys who were waiting for an answer thought they could see Chumley's face go pale.

"Everyone may I have your attention!"

The sudden announcement from Banner caught everyone's attention, including both Jaden and Syrus allowing Chumley to breathe a sigh of relief as the attention was no longer on him.

"Now that we are all settled, I should clarify on some rules that all students of the academy have to follow. This applies to all dorms also, first is that there are to be no dueling after night hours from ten. Any student caught doing so will be permanently suspended from the academy, also there are forbidden areas on the island from a research facility located in the islands forest which is belongs to the Kaiba Corporation. Any student trespassing on the facility site will be dealt severely and may face a full six-month suspension."

Someone gave an awkward whistle as the rest of the new arrivals appeared stunned at the punishments, even Jaden gawked slightly upon hearing them.

"There is also an old dorm building that is abandoned for health and safety reasons, any student caught trespassing the old dorm will be permanently suspended also."

Another threat of permanent suspension being stated continued the effect on the students with only the previous arrivals showing no concern as they were already told on the day of their arrival. Syrus however was sweating rapidly as he wondered what other rules are there that will cause permanent suspension.

"Hey, teach, are there any rules that are not so one shot only, I mean it seems very excessive?" Jaden called out of the blue and in response, Syrus turned to look at him as if the thought of Jaden reading his mind was the explanation.

Banner did not answer at first and appeared to be pondering for an answer.

"That is about it, the rest of the rules are standardly straightforward with the same principles as other academic institutions. It doesn't mean you can break them now and then, there are limits to how it can be taken repeatedly."

Jaden rubbed the back of his head and grinned.

"That is good, I'm glad to hear that. For a moment I thought failing to get your homework back on time would result in permanent suspension" he laughed out and took a drink in which Banner just smirked, as if timing it for effect.

"Oh no that doesn't happen. What happens is that if you fail to hand in homework on time, you will be given double the homework and it increases if you repeatedly miss the deadline."

Jaden choked on his drink and gagged as the rest of the students smirked and laughed with Chumley giggling like mad. Looking up, he saw Banner give of a cheesy grin as the students continued laughing in which Jaden realized he was set up.

"Heh, heh…good one teach."

"Indeed, also there is some additional information that I must inform you all about" Banner added. "And I am told that this is a decision decided by Seto Kaiba himself."

The hall became silent again as Chumley blinked multiple times.

"Huh, from Seto Kaiba?"

Ra Yellow Dorm

The noise of the kitchen was surprisingly both loud and quiet that it didn't bother the students as they were served in the bistro like main hall where the dorm staff served out the food like it was a restaurant. Bastian didn't contemplate much as he enjoyed the food, listening to his fellow dorm members as the topic of Jaden's and Peterson's duel is still fresh on their minds.

"I still think that oaf would have won if he didn't lose his cool. I mean if he kept his head in the game then he would have got rid of that field spell card and that slifer would have lost for sure" one of the Ra students beside him spoke his mind as he ate.

"Maybe, but it was still satisfying to see that jumped up obelisk get beaten and besides, he wasn't even one of the top obelisks. He was one of the bottom ranks, wasn't he?" another asked.

"Yeah, and to be honest it was only a matter of time until he lost, but to a slifer of all people. Boy that must sting" the former replied.

Smirking to himself, Bastian listened to the rest as the dorm talked about it like it was a big thing and apparently it was.

"If I may ask, has there been any slifer students who made a name for themselves previously?" Bastian asked the two who stopped what they were doing and listened to his question.

"Well, a few have but that all ended when they got beat by the obelisks. Actually, there is one who is still a bit of a name" the latter one replied.

"Really? Who may I ask was it?"

"Chumley Huffington" the former one answered. "He is remembered as the slifer who refused to drop out. In fact, he is the only remaining original slifer in the slifer dorm. Turns out he isn't much of a duellist, so he avoided the thrashing the other original slifers received, he wants to be a card designer. And he is actually pretty good at it."

The information intrigued him, though the academy was built to train the next generation of duellists in mind, it does have the facilities to train the next generation of card designers.

"Interesting, I wonder if those two have already met this Chumley Huffington."

At the end of the hall, Satyr sat and enjoyed watching to see the newest members of the dorm get on well with the previous year's members. If one thing satisfied him, it was a united dorm. However, satisfaction aside, he has some details to inform the dorm. Casually he picked up his spoon and tapped his glass, the tapping caught everyone's attention and he stood up.

"Everyone, it gladdens me to see you all getting along but forgive me for interrupting such unity for I have something to tell, straight from the Chancellor and Seto Kaiba himself."

Obelisk Blue Girls Dorm, Grand Hall

In the end it made sense for the chancellor to pick the girls dorm main hall to be the site for the obelisk welcoming dinner for both dorms as it was the largest out of the two and was also built to be an optional graduation ceremony site if the main academy hall was not to be used. Still, it was rather unorthodox for Alexis to see the two dorms mingle within the girls only dorm but since it is the start of the official first academic year for duel academy it is something that the teaching staff would put together. She sat at one of the round tables with both Mindy and Jasmine but with two boys, both were talking with her friends, with Mindy enjoying it and Jasmine being her usual self, making it difficult for the unfortunate guy to get far but she was not doing it cruelly. In terms of dresses, Mindy is wearing a golden bronze coloured variant of the same dress she and Jasmine are wearing. Jasmine is wearing her emerald dress as Alexis is wearing her red one. Looking around she sees the rest of the dorm wearing many different types of dresses and the boys are wearing smart dress suits, some wore actual tuxedos, in both black and white variants. Looking towards the staging area, she sees both the dorm heads and the chancellor talking, Crowler and the chancellor wore their normal attire though the Crowler's duel coat seemed to be missing its pink frills. Only Fontaine wore a dress and she looked stunning, wearing a dark blue sleeveless, open back and neck high dress. The dress being tight fitting showed off her curves beautifully if not seductively as some of the students from the boy's dorm made quick glances. Even some of the girls did the same.

"Oh, we are no longer together. It's better this way, I mean anyone else would have done the same thing right" a familiar voice from a table down caught her attention and she sees the group that follows Peterson around sitting there and the one speaking was no other than Chrissie. "After all, I only go out with guys who back up what they say, and that Peterson did not back it up."

"Yeah, I hear that he may be kicked to the yellow dorm, that loss against that slifer slacker practically ended his time as a fellow obelisk before the year even started" one of her friends remarked and Alexis grunted as their irritating conversation continued.

"What's up Lex?" Jasmine asked as her conversation partner decided that it was easier to talk to the other and Mindy.

"It's that self-centred mic-queen Chrissie, seems that she dumped Peterson since he lost and bragging about it. Girls like her are such bitches" she replied and took a sip of her drink. Since it was a special occasion, the dinner is served with champagne and not the cheap stuff, the real stuff.

"Should I remind her that she will still be remembered as the one who's past boyfriend lost to a slifer student?" Jasmine offered, earning a grin in response.

"Maybe later."

Obelisk Blue Girls Dorm, Grand Hall, other side

If there was one thing Jade hated, it was both Bratt and Troy moping as the defeat of Peterson seems to be a moral and ego destroying blow to the obelisk blue dorm, well some of them as the rest acted like nothing happened. It still was annoying as she had to deal with the mopey twosome but at least there was one person at the table she could count on, and she was as annoyed at the two as well.

"Couldn't you find more competent friends' cousin? I mean boys shouldn't mope unless they got dumped or something right?" Sadie asked, staring at the two boys as Jade closed her eyes and sighed.

"Well, they were happier when I agreed to their request, but it seems not even that could save them from the recent incident we all witnessed" Jade replied and picked up her glass. "Well, you witnessed. The rest of us just watched a broadcast."

Sadie nodded and leaned back but not before adjusting her dress a little.

"Why couldn't we come in our uniforms anyway? Why does it have to be dresses?" she complained as she finished.

"No idea but I guess its to make this event classier or something" Jade replied, taking a sip and from the corner of her eye, she saw Bratt with his finger in his drink and making circles in it causing her to sigh in irritation. "Will you stop doing that!"

Bratt did not reply and continued what he was doing with Troy just staring blankly towards the ceiling causing Jade to roll her eyes. "Seriously, I already told you both that I will duel the slifer so stop moping and get your shit together!"

"Wait what?" her cousin interjected. "You are going to duel the slifer, even after what he did to that idiot in the broadcast. Are you serious?"

Jade simply smirked and waved her hand to imply that it was not really a big deal.

"The duel made me curious and as such, I want to see for myself."

It was then that Troy stopped staring at the ceiling and look to Jade, his blank expression remained but his eyebrow was raised.

"I thought you were doing it for me and Bratt because that slacker ratted out on us?"

"Oh please" Jade commented as she picked up her drink. "That situation was your doing so take responsibility for yourselves. Seriously what are you two…woke to the point that others must solve your own problems?" she then pointed out and seeing the two not giving much of a reaction, she sighed. "Grow up, I am doing this for myself."

"So, when are you going to duel him" Bratt asked, continuing what he was doing.

"Tonight" was Jade's answer and finally both Troy and Bratt reacted out of their moping but so did Sadie as she gawked at her in disbelief.

"You're not serious?" Sadie put forward. "Jade, this gathering won't end until after ten, near eleven tops."

"I know" her cousin replied and the three just gawked further.

"So, are you leaving early to duel him?"

Jade paused and saw there was no way out of it and sighed as she figured she should have not said a word, but she did anyway.

"No" she replied, and the gawking turned to disbelieving shock. "Why did I have to say a sodding word, seriously I blame these two idiots."

Grand Hall, Main Stage

"Well with all things considered, it was still a spectacular duel Vellian though I trust that young Peterson is going to be reprimanded for his conduct?" Sheppard said as he took a sip of his wine glass while Fontaine just looked disapprovingly. Crowler looked winded and if one would look closely, they would see a vein on his forehead. He was not happy.

"Not to worry chancellor" Crowler answered with a forced smile. "I have his deck confiscated until next week. He won't be dueling for a while."

A 'ahem' got both his and the chancellor attention as Fontaine shook her head.

"Really, a week suspension from duelling? Surely, he deserves more than that as from what I heard he seems to target slifer red students and humiliate them once he defeats…no that is putting it mildly, crushes…he cruelly crushes them. Not exactly the kind of duellist we seek to promote here."

Crowler's face dropped and irked with annoyance.

"With all due respect Fonda, your one to talk as you have the cruellest duellist in your dorm and she is the top duellist of the academy…and practically untouchable by any standard."

It was now Fontaine's turn to be annoyed because as much as she wants to deny it, If Crowler was right then he was right.

"Calm down the both of you" Sheppard interjected as he moved between the two feuding dorm heads. "You are dorm headmasters so please be professional and also if you must argue about this then please do so out of sight of the students so as to not arouse attention."

The two heads nodded in unison as the noticed a few eyes looking in their direction, wondering what was going on.

"But I must agree with Fonda here on this one Vellian, the punishment seems a bit light don't you think?"

Crowler blinked a few times and gave a thought.

"I was considering it but if it satisfies the chancellor then things can get back to normal" he thought to himself and gave a grin. "Well chancellor, I was considering of having the student re-domed to the Ra Yellow dorm. Seems like an excellent move of disciplining a student for lack of conduct" Crowler informed Sheppard in a suck up like way. "Though the real reason is because he lost to that slifer slacker and from that, humiliated me further."

"Not good enough."

The reply surprised the three of them, even Sheppard was surprised as the three were unaware that someone had just joined them. Looking to the source, both Sheppard and Fontaine became curious while Crowler just gulped loudly as Zara had joined them followed by a member of her followers from the boy's blue dorm by the arm band he wore.

"Apologies for the interruption but I couldn't help overhear."

Fontaine could not help but look over what she was wearing, the icy blue silk dress she wore hugged her figure perfectly but also revealed a good deal of her bust, not too much but a good deal all the same.

"That is a rather daring dress you are wearing Zaria" she put forward, but the student smirked in response.

"The same can be said to you Miss Fontaine. You have caught a few eyes already, just thought you want to be aware."

The head nurse blushed embarrassingly at the prospect whereas Sheppard wasn't amused.

"I don't appreciate you harassing your dorm head Miss Truesdale" he said calmly but she just shrugged it off.

"It wasn't harassment chancellor, it was merely observation and in fairness, I am sure I received a few glances myself" she replied and glances at a few tables behind her where the shuffling of heads became apparent. "Though only when I don't catch them in the act that is."

"She isn't wrong" Sheppard thought as he saw the head movements from the other students as Zara glanced their way. "But it still shouldn't have been said."

"Excuse me" Crowler joined in before making another gulp as Zara's piercing eyes looked directly at him. "But may I inquire as to why the punishment isn't enough?"

"Well, if I recall correctly, he was defeated by a slifer red student by the name of Jaden Yuki."

Crowler grimaced at the thought as the one thing he would like to forget this evening was the witnessing the live broadcast of the duel itself.

"That is true. So, you have seen the live footage no doubt?" he asked, curious as to what she was getting at. Zara shrugged in response and examined her nails in an uninterested fashion.

"I didn't watch the footage, but I was told the details."

The reveal irked Crowler as began to feel stupid.

"Of course, she wouldn't have seen it. Such an event would be beneath her as she has no interest in the slacker…nor is she in Peterson."

"Then why are you getting involved Zaria" Fontaine asked, she is being one of the very few people to address her by actual name which Zara never bothered with much.

"Peterson is an obelisk correct, and he was defeated by the lowest dorm in the academy. The one responsible being someone who only just arrived today so wouldn't it be prudent to re-dorm Peterson to the actual dorm he was bested by."

If one would say if there was an expression that combined the emotions of shock, horror, disbelief, dumbstruck, awe, and overwhelming flabbergasted. Then that is the face of Crowler as he choked on his own breath. "Re-dorm Peterson to the slifer red dorm! She cannot be serious, that is way too much!"

"For once I agree with you Miss Truesdale" Sheppard announced, startling Crowler even more. "Peterson as an obelisk duellist showed no professionalism or decency as one is expected to portray in this academy. His methods of harassing other students due to other dorms is not the right message and I expect any student being seen doing so to be punished accordingly and regarding the student in question. Crowler! Inform Banner he has a new student first thing tomorrow."

Fontaine could only feel satisfied at the conclusion as she watched Crowler appear defeated as no doubt Crowler may have been plotting to get Peterson back into the blue dorm somehow but that is ruined. But she couldn't help but wonder why someone like Zara would help, then again, she was someone who viewed duellist's lesser than her had no doubt intervened in order to ensure a lesser duellist is with other vied duellists. It also seemed like Zara was done with them as she was heading back to her table which was right next to the stage. Sheppard did not comment and seemed bent of going to the next part of the festivities. He approached the end of the stage and waited a few moments as he viewed each table. Some students noticed his actions while many others remained oblivious, they will soon notice as he began to make is dorm dinner announcement.

"Student's, may I have your attention please" he announced and almost instantly all eyes where upon him. "Thank you, as you are all already aware, we have left the academies trial stage with resounding success and from tomorrow onwards. You all as well as those in our other dorms will no longer be trial year students, but full-fledged first years ready to take on the true challenges of this new state of the art academy as you are joined by new faces who have completed the entrance exams and now face the challenges of academy life for the first time. This will be the first of the finest academic years that this academy shall give to each and every one of you and there is more to come."

Murmurs of curiosity began to be heard as the present students wondered what he meant. Sheppard raised his hand slightly just to stop them so that he can continue.

"To further make things interesting for the academy, I along with Seto Kaiba have arranged two inter-academy duels to take place in the second and third terms of our first academic year. The first will be against North Academy on the eighteenth of March next year and the second against Aqua Academy on the twenty-fifth of May."

The hearing of both North and Aqua Academy got the students no longer murmuring but speaking aloud as the names of two of the original first lot of academies that the Kaiba Corp established will be duelling against them after the winter break. This could be a big thing to some as the having the newest academy compete against two other academies would bring worldwide attention. Something that Seto Kaiba himself would do to bring in more publicity to the duelist world.

"I am sure you are all excited about this news but that is all I can tell you at this point as more information after the winter break."

Crowler blinked several times, two academy duels within the first official academic year, seems that Seto Kaiba just wants to get things over and done with after all. He then wondered who would be representing the academy in both duels and upon that thought he glanced over to the table where Zara is sat. Clearly, she would be the appropriate candidate to represent the academy in both events but there was an obstacle, would she even agree to it.

"Perhaps the upcoming duels will provide an opportunity for me somewhat, I just need to acquire additional information from the chancellor" he thought as he took a swig of his drink. "This might even boost my career, I might even get the Chancellorship of the academy in the future as long as nothing goes wrong…hah, I mean who is capable of causing that?!"

Slifer Red Dorm

Every single Slifer was gawping at Banner once he finished telling them the additional news and Jaden's eyes were so wide, you would think he was from a Japanese anime series.

"Seriously teach, there are going to be two academy duels later this year?" he called out, refusing to hold back his excitement at the prospect.

"That is correct, we will be hearing additional details about these events after the winter break so please don't get too excited as to not do your studies."

It was a little too late as Jaden was already thinking of the possibilities such duels would entail and the prospect of facing other duellists and battling them was enough to make him faint. If he didn't think duel academy could get this more exciting than he was corrected, it got even more exciting.

"Who cares!"

The statement burst Jaden's bubble of thought and he looked to see who spoke, finding the culprit on the table beside his.

"I don't know why everyone is getting excited for, I mean it's not like we Slifer's are going to get a shot at it. It's definitely going to be either a Ra or Obelisk who will be duelling, we will be overlooked."

Half the of the hall spoke out in agreement with the rest just kept quiet. Once again just like back in the arena, Jaden was baffled as the defeated nature of the slifer red dorm. It was clear that two duels, the first against the Obelisk Dorm head Crowler and the second against the obelisk, Peterson who targeted students of the red dorm is not going to be enough. He then heard Kuriboh chirp at his side and slightly nodded his head in response.

"I hear that, the mood of these guys are terrible. Give me a week and I will change it around" Jaden responded but a chirp that sounded like Kuriboh wasn't convinced. "Okay two weeks." Another unconvincing chirp. "A month." Once again, another chirp but was basically Kuriboh saying Jaden's name questioningly. "Okay, okay two- or three-months tops. Don't get negative about it, I can do it."

Kuriboh didn't reply so Jaden took it as a sign that the duel spirit accepted his statement. Still, it made him wonder why Yubel did not say a word.

"Hey Yubel, you there?"

"Always" the duel spirit replied and appeared in transparent form in front of him, crossed legs with her chin resting on her hand.

"I heard Kuriboh's views on how long it's going to take so what about you, what are your thoughts?"

Yubel grinned and repositioned herself, so she appeared to be lying down.

"You really want to know what I think?"

Jaden blinked a couple of times, his face still as if a warning light from the back of his head had just gone off.

"You know what, I'm good" he replied, causing Yubel to smirk in amusement.

"I wasn't thinking that!" she giggled. "I personally think that you will get them to change their views before the Christmas break."

"So, three months" Jaden sighed in defeat. "I was hoping that you would be on my side on this."

Yubel simply laughed as Jaden got back to his meal, stuffing some more rice into his mouth and as he chewed. His mind began to come up of ways of how he could motivate the dorm and he was coming up short. "This is going to be hard."

One Hour Later

Despite the downing, the hall was still in high spirits even after the last morsel was eaten and Banner was being very chill but even he couldn't deceive his dorm's students as he looked upon the dreaded pile of pans, plates, and cutlery as if it were dreading him to start cleaning. Fortunately, Chumley was helping him with some over supportive hands as well. Jaden was still sat down and was feeling stuffed after his big fill and Syrus was pretty much the same except he was still hungry. In fact, out of the whole dorm, it was Syrus who ate the most. Jaden even glanced in his direction and sees the small boy look around and fidget with his glasses while doing so.

"There isn't any food left Sy, I bet there isn't anything left for tomorrow morning" he said and Syrus just shrugged.

"That's okay, I got some snacks in my backpack upstairs."

Shaking his head in a manner of 'I knew it', Jaden stood up and stretched. A burp then emanated out of his mouth loudly causing a 'whoa' from Syrus as a result.

"Pardon, food was too good."

Stepping away from the table, he began to make his way out of the hall and into the outside.

"Hey Chumley!" he called out towards the kitchen area. "What" was the reply he received in response. "You mind if I take the bottom bunk!"

"No help yourself. Top bunks mine anyways" was Chumley's reply.

Jaden smiled and turned to Syrus who was still sitting at the table, the food may be gone but the beakers full of juice or pop were still there and Syrus is not letting it go to waste.

"Well, looks like you going to be bunking in the middle bunk" he informed Syrus who is currently gulping down drink after drink. "And slow down overwise you will be staying in the toilet for a long while."

"I'm good" Syrus replied, and Jaden sniggered as he stepped out of the building. It seemed that night was almost upon the island at the last rays of the sun could be seen in the distance, only blocked by the volcano. Still to Jaden it was crazy to think that Kaiba would set up an academy at the base of a very clearly and not a dud volcano. It was even more crazy to think everyone else is comfortable with sleeping near a volcano unless they are really used to it like those living on islands or on fault lines. Within a second, the geography of it gave him a headache.

"Damn I hate geography" he muttered to himself as he climbed up the steps.

"I think the correct word is Volcanology since you are thinking of the volcano, but I guess it is a somewhat similar thing."

He quickly looks up and gawks as Yubel is flying above him, fully visible in the open and smiling.

"What the fu…!" he almost yelled out and looked around to see if anyone was present or watching. "Why are you visible, you might get spotted!" he commented as quietly as he can.

Yubel said nothing as she lowered herself to the top step and stood as her wings folded back.

"Relax hun, duel spirits have heightened senses so I would know if someone is present and if they were about to come out into the open I would know beforehand so they wouldn't see me" she casually replied as she leaned back on the railings. "I'll disappear before they knew what is going on."

Jaden only sighed and climbed up the remaining steps, Yubel doing her usually seductive style of stretching as he did so. Only for Kuriboh, who appeared to be in the right mind and remained transparent, doing the looking around and chirping as he went.

"Oh, shut the fuck furball, everything is fine" Yubel snorted, annoyed once more by the actions of the small spirit who chirped in reply. "Hey, you're not my father your winged midget" she retorted.

Jaden move past Yubel as she was distracted, keeping an eye out as the conversation between the two started to get a little louder. "Could you two be a little quieter, these wall's really do not seem soundproof" he informed them both as he reached the door. Giving one last look to see if no one was present or deciding to investigate the noise as a girl's voice being heard at the red dorm would indeed raise suspicion since all female students are obelisks. Jaden opened the door and stepped into his new accommodations, ready to unpack and unwind before retiring for the night. However, as he closed the door, he noticed that unpacking was the last thing he needed to do as his bags are already empty. Checking the drawers, he finds that his clothes are put away neatly along side what appears to be his spare uniform and sports kit. It baffled him for a while until he hears the familiar sounds of two duel spirits behind him.

"Did you two unpack while I was downstairs and when did you have the time?" he asked them as he turned around and sees that Yubel has made herself too comfortable on the chair while Kuriboh still floated in the air.

"Maybe" Yubel teased an answer. "You have no idea how fast we can get stuff done, and when I mean we I mean me. Furball here didn't even lift a finger."

On cue, Kuriboh chirped in response, clearly annoyed at the insinuation that Yubel implied. The reply being 'How do you expect me to lift anything with these little hands!' with Kuriboh shaking said hands to initiate the point.

"Whatever lazy, save the excuses."

"Pack it in you two" Jaden interjected and moved to sit on the edge of the bunk. "Oh, and thanks for the help with the unpacking."

Yubel winked as Jaden made himself comfortable and laid down on the bunk. With no nothing to do as the unpacking was already done, he wondered what else he could do to end the rather eventful day. As he did, he noticed Yubel had gotten up from the chair and is now kneeling at the bunks edge with her head resting on her arms as leaned on the bunk.

"So hun, what do you want to do now?"

From the question, it was clear that Yubel had something in mind, but Jaden thought of something else to pass the time.

"Didn't you say you would tell me what I missed from the tour since I was dragged to Crowler's office?"

And eureka it worked as Yubel's face went 'whaa' before going into thought as she slowly realised and remembered that is exactly what she told him earlier in the day.

"Yes, I did" she replied and as she did so, Jaden sat up causing Yubel to move to the side and allowing him to sit on the edge.

"Well tell me what I missed."

Yubel sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose, Kuriboh came to Jaden's side with a smug look on its face as Jaden sat patiently for Yubel to start dishing out details.

"Fine but I swear if you fall asleep on me then I will slap your face until sleep is the last thing you need."

Jaden gulped in response as he knew full well what she meant as he does have a habit of falling asleep when listening to the important details. In fact, he wouldn't have gained high marks if it wasn't for Yubel getting right in it and between teacher Yubel and the Yubel who wants to get steamy with him, he hated to admit but he would rather have the latter.

"Don't worry I will stay awake" he replied with a sheepish grin on his face, but Yubel didn't seem convinced. As she stood up to get the chair from the desk as she has no intention of doing it on the floor. Jaden quickly leaned towards Kuriboh and started whispering. "Please make sure I don't fall asleep."

Obelisk Blue Girls Dorm, Grand Hall

The festivity of the hall is now dawning to a close as most of the participants have already left to retire for the evening or are beginning to leave. Alexis however didn't as she had to keep an eye on Mindy as she had begun to get very chatty with some of the boys. And one of them is Harrington Rosewood, one of the top duellists in the Obelisk Blue Boys Dorm and like most of the obelisks, he is an heir to a wealthy company. This being a motorist company, Rosewood Motors, but he seems closer to the Tennis world of sport as he is the captain of the academy's tennis club. He is also a bit of a leach as he just loves to flaunt his status and good looks with the ladies and Mindy just fell for it. Jasmine was also keeping an eye on Mindy, but she too was talking with some of the group. So, to the outside it seemed that it was Alexis who was the social outcast as she rarely did any talking at all.

"Oh wow, you really get into sports seriously" Mindy was saying as she focused on Harrington which he was more than happy to continue.

"Of course, you should see me on the court some time when I am practicing my swing. I could teach you a few lessons myself if you like" the tennis club captain suggested and instantly it earned a warning light in Alexis but not to Mindy as she was oblivious to the comments meaning for, she was completely smitten by Harrington's handsome looks.

"Oh, my I would like that" Mindy quickly replied with stars in her eyes, but her expression dropped when Alexis took her by the arm.

"Excuse me but is it okay if I have a private word with my friend here."

Harrington barely had a chance to reply as Mindy was dragged out of the group, but the rich creep found solace in staring at both Mindy's and Alexis's asses as they moved away.

"How I would love to get my hands on them cheeks. Especially Alexis, what I would do to her" he thought to himself and emitted a perverted grin as a result. A grin noticed by Jasmine who followed Harrington's gaze from the corner of her eye. Without anyone taking any notice, she casually walked towards Harrington without giving away her intentions and when she got close enough. She stood down hard on his foot and it was worse for him for she was wearing stiletto's, which clearly hurt like a bitch. He cried out in pain loudly, getting the attention of those close by and Jasmine quickly feigned innocence as she pretended to be sorry.

"Oh, I apologise I didn't see your foot there, clumsy me."

With Mindy and Alexis

"Seriously what is your deal?" Mindy complained as Alexis dragged her by the arm as she led the annoyed girl to a less populated part of the main hall before letting her go.

"Are you seriously trying to get with Harrington Rosewood of all people?!" Alexis retorted in response. "Rosewood…of all people! Do you have any idea who he is?"

"A hottie who is hot and rich, and hot."

"Oh fuck" Alexis groaned as she facepalmed herself at Mindy's lack of awareness. It clearly is going to be a long year with actual tests, lessons, and keeping an eye on Mrs Duvet-Humper to ensure she doesn't get herself into trouble. "Listen, some of the boys here and most of the girls in Obelisk Blue are absolute pieces of shit. Rosewood is amongst them so please don't get close to him."

"But isn't the bad boy routine the best for the hot romance, and the passion included" Mindy complained, and Alexis gawked as Mindy was practically living in a movie fairy tale.

"Maybe a decent bad boy but not jerks!"

Mindy simply glanced towards where Harrington and the others are and then back to Alexis with eyes that spoke with a sense of her being unconvinced. She did this a few more times which made the blonde wonder in why Mindy was doing that when the dark-haired girl gave a little gasp as if she somehow put two and two together, which brings the question of where she got the two and two from in the first place.

"Wait, is he your boyfriend?"

A snap that sounded like shattered glass echoed in Alexis's mind as she dumbfoundedly stared at Mindy quietly that lasted roughly five seconds before she made a reply.

"What?"

"Is the tennis hottie over there your boyfriend?" Mindy asked again and once again the sound of shattered glass echoed in the blonde's mind.

"Please tell me you are joking, and you are not considering me to be that creep's girlfriend?" Alexis practically pleaded.

"But you look so perfect together!"

And that was it, Alexis buried her head in her hands and mumbled words like 'oh my god', 'what the fuck', and 'I am going to be sick. It was a saving grace that Jasmine joined them after she finished making excuses for 'accidently' stepping on Harrington's foot earlier.

"Need any help Lex?" Jasmine asked Alexis as the latter buried her head further into her hand.

"Yes please" she muffled in reply and Jasmine put a hand on Mindy's shoulder.

"Okay, what did you say to Lex?"

Mindy was bewildered at Alexis's actions and wasn't sure what she did wrong.

"I just asked if that guy was her boyfriend since she was very insistent that I should not get to know him or something. I don't know why she is being weird about it."

If Jasmine showed anything it was that she was used to the naivety of the hunk obsessed chick as Alexis, looking through the gaps between her fingers, sees that she hasn't even changed her expression.

"Mindy, you know what I told you about some guys…are complete mummy's boy, are boring as hell, and don't watch any reality television shows."

Mindy stared in Harington's direction and appeared horrified.

"No! You cannot be serious?"

"I am" Jasmine replied. "Sorry but from what I can see over there, he is a mummy's boy."

Alexis was amazed to see Mindy change from being starry eyed towards Harrington to being disappointed. It was quite weird also due to that something as childish as calling someone a mummy's boy has more effect than jerk or bully.

"Well, my evening's ruined" Mindy moaned and headed back to their table while Alexis focused on a smug Jasmine.

"Seriously, mummy's boy?!" she questioned and Jasmine in response put her arm around her friend's shoulders.

"He is, he even muttered mummy under his breath after I stepped on his foot."

Obelisk Blue Girls Dorm, Main Entrance

With the event coming to a close, the disciplinary committee stood at the entrance with touch screen pads to make sure that each of the boy students have left the premises. The Chairman, also present, was very certain to make sure that was the case and so that there weren't any boys sneakily trying to stay within the girl's dorm grounds. Some committee members have caught some students snogging in corners of the grounds which isn't a violation of the school rules, but it was the first step towards something more intimate.

"Hey, break it up you two" she called out to two students who were about to snog near the stairway.

"Seriously?" the girl argued as she refused to let go of her date. "We are only snogging!"

"Don't care, its gone past ten so he either goes back to his dorm or expulsion for both of you" the chairman casually threatened the two. "Rules are rules!"

The two became defeated very quickly as any more resistance would mean getting kicked out of the academy. Some of the other students nearby who listened carried on like normal, but it was clear that they were intimidated by the chairman's threat also. The two students there separated from each other but made glances to state that what they have started is not finished. Something the chairman recognised and something she will have her committee keep an eye one, along with the other students that may try and break the rules. It was all she needed to keep focus and continue the job without distraction as she enforces the rules.

"Bella!" a shrill cry caught her unawares along with any committee member present as she looked to see the culprit, waving at her as she came closer though and swayed a bit.

"Oh, not now!" she thought to herself as the girl's dorm head hugged her without reason, making some of the nearby students sweat drop in response and the committee members feel awkward.

"Bella, you meanie! After staying on the mainland for months and not coming back till this morning. You never called or visited your big sister at all, not even once! I'm hurt" Fonda said rather weirdly as she wrapped herself around the chairman's arm.

"Fonda, will you let go! You're embarrassing yoursel…" the chairman, Bella, informed the head nurse but stopped when she noticed a familiar expression on Fonda's face. "Are you drunk?!"

"What? No…" Fonda replied in a very slow pace, waving her hand as she did so. "I just had a little bit of wine" she said further and hiccupped at the end.

"Define a little" Bella asked and Fond using her hands made a size gap to indicate how much wine she had but she failed to get the size right with got her sister quite angry. "You call that a little?! It looks like you've drunk down three whole bottle's you lightweight!"

Fonda giggled in response and hiccupped again as Bella calmed down and cursed a little under her breath. Some of the dorm's students knew well of their dorm head's inability to fully hold her drink and treated it like normal with smirks and smiles but the disciplinary chairman became heavily embarrassed about the situation, she didn't show it, but it was apparent by how red her cheeks were turning.

"You two" she addressed the committee members at the door. "Continue as you are, I need to escort the dorm head to her room."

"Dorm head! You really are mean. C'mon say my name" Fonda began to pout as her sister began to escort her towards the stair.

"Fonda, will you cut it out" Bella muttered under her breath, but it didn't really help.

"Say my name louder" the drunk head nurse wailed, causing even more of a scene.

"Oh god help me!"

As Nurse Fontaine was escorted up the stairs, both Jade and Sadie emerged from the main hall's hallway with Bratt and Troy following in tow. They had just entered the main foyer when they saw their dorm head get taken upstairs by the disciplinary chairman and the two girls couldn't help but be amused by what they saw.

"Looks like Fontaine drunk a little too much again" Sadie giggled as her cousin just gave a sigh.

"One of academy life's rarest sights to be sure" Jade commented before addressing the two boys behind her. "Now you know what to do, go back to your dorm and wait until I give you the call."

Both Troy and Bratt didn't say anything but nodded, then they way out of the entrance as both Jade and Sadie headed to the main staircase. Sadie was still concerned about Jade's plan but waited until they were out of earshot of the committee members and some of the other students before voicing her concern again. "I wish you would reconsider cousin; I mean what happens if you get caught?"

"I won't" Jade replied casually as they headed for the next floor. "Because I already know where I am going to duel the slifer."

Curiosity joined with Sadie's concern as though she knew knowing little about it is best, she couldn't help but to find out more.

"What do you mean?"

"Despite the hallways, corridors, classrooms, and arena's being checked by the disciplinary committee once every fifteen minutes. There is one arena that doesn't get checked much because of its location."

Her cousin didn't reply at first as they reached the floor of destination and made their way towards Jade's accommodation, but it didn't take too long for Sadie to figure it out.

"The sky dome arena?! How are you going to get there? The lower floors will be monitored by the committee and don't forget security cameras at every corner."

Jade grinned as they reached her door and she turned to give her cousin an assuring smirk.

"Not the emergency stairway" she revealed. "Despite the mass expenses the Kaiba Corp put into the building, someone neglected to install camera's there."

She then opened the door and walked in, but Sadie followed her in also as she still wasn't convinced about Jade's plan.

"I am pretty sure that they are also checked as well" Sadie pointed out as she closed the door behind her. Jade ignored her for the moment as she made her way to her accommodations/suite couch but not before she reached around and pulled down the zip of her dress, allowing it to fall to her ankles. Allowing her breasts to breath as she kicked out the heeled shoes, she wore leaving only black lace panties to be the remaining clothing she wore.

"Seriously, are you an exhibitionist" Sadie commented as she made her way to the rooms windows and pulled the curtains shut.

"Relax, we are on the second floor of a three floored building that is in the shape of a French palace. Also, we are overlooking the inland lake so I doubt anyone would see me as I am" Jade replied as she sat on the couch and stretched, arching her back as she did so.

"Ever heard of drones cousin."

Jade just gave a 'meh' sound as she relaxed before eying her PDA on the table.

"Do you even have his contact details if you are really going to go through with this?" Sadie pointed out as she sat beside her on the couch.

"I can simply look it up on the dorm search function, I mean its pretty simple when making contacts and I am sending a message. I'm not exactly going to call him."

And with saying that, she reached to grab the PDA and began to go through the academy search functions. It didn't take long as all she had to do was select the Slifer Dorm hub and scroll down its student contact list.

"How do you even know his details will be up?" her cousin asked, watching the whole thing as she leaned closer.

"They always get the details up before students arrive…here he is" Jade answered and pointed out as she found Jaden's contact details. It was all default in appearance, contact logo showing the student in academic identity format and nothing was added in his bio, so it was obvious that Jaden hadn't even checked his details yet. "Right now, to send the message, time is nearly quarter to eleven so I will have him meet me at the arena at…half-eleven. Plenty of time to get ready" she said aloud as she planned it in her head. "Could you get my shirt and top for me while I send this" she then asked Sadie as she began typing.

"Not your binder?" Sadia inquired as she sat up and headed for the wardrobe.

"No point, I only wear it to make myself a size smaller and after tonight it kind of defeats the point in wearing it further really" Jade replied as Sadie opened the wardrobe draws.

"I take it you want a skirt as well?"

"Obviously."

Slifer Dorm, Second Floor, Room 2A

Jaden was sitting on the desk chair as he and Syrus listened to Chumley as he explained extra details about the academy. From the main locations of the main academy building, the neighbouring sports hall, and the coastline-based relaxation centre where a luxury bathhouse and pool reside. The info of the pool was not helpful to Syrus as he reveals that he couldn't swim so he tends to watch from the side-lines. To Jaden it was the arena's that fascinated him, there were seven arenas in the academy. Two tutoring arena's and five domed arenas with the biggest one located at the top of the academy which is also the exam field making it the largest arena on the island and that fact made him want to visit it.

"I have a mind to visit the dome arena before retiring for the day" he said to himself aloud as he crossed his legs like he was sitting on the floor and not the chair, but Chumley quickly interrupted him.

"Don't even try it, students are not allowed in the academy arenas nor the academy building itself after eleven and even though you can still go inside. It is monitored by the disciplinary committee, and you don't want the disciplinary action squad on your case."

"Disciplinary action squad? What's that?" Syrus asked.

"A group within the committee who are the ones who go to your door and barge in if you broke some very serious rules" Chumley explained. "They are the group that signify that you are more likely going to be expelled from the academy."

"They sound like the Gestapo or NKVD from the history books" Jaden pointed out, making Chumley chuckle a bit.

"I wouldn't say it like that, but I guess so."

Syrus became nervous from what he was told about the action squad and began fearing that one day out of the blue, this action squad will come out of nowhere and take him away. It was like listening to the academy version of the boogey man and that creeped him out a bit.

"Hey Chumley, what kind of serious rules are we talking about?" he asked.

"Well, duels late at night, breaking and entering, stealing academy property, trespass on forbidden grounds, cheating the examination system…pretty much that basically along with the obvious stuff."

Syrus began to relax a little as he felt that there was no way he would break any of those rules, but Jaden wasn't listening as his PDA began to buzz on the desk. Curious as to what it was about, he checked the highlighted notification and read the message.

"Jaden Yuki, I have decided that I will give you that duel however this is a only time offer. If you do not follow the terms, then it will show that you do not have the spine to keep to your word. Meet me at the Dome Arena at 11:30 tonight. Take the emergency stairway, that will get you past the disciplinary committee's patrol routes. The arena in question is not always checked but I will have someone keep an eye out just in case. Bring your deck, the one you beat Peterson with. Don't be late!"

Jaden blinked a few times as he read it and seeing who it was sent by, it piqued his curiosity even further but also got his duelling instinct into action.

"Hey guys, check this out!" he said to them both, gaining their attention. "I have received a challenge to a duel."

"Wha…already, you are not serious right?" Syrus replied as it felt to soon for Jaden to receive a challenge, especially after what happened earlier in the day against Peterson. "Who is it from?"

"Its from Jade, seems the duel earlier changed her mind and now she wants to duel" Jaden replied and in quick response, Chumley lunged forward and grabbed him by the collar with both hands. Alarming both Jaden and Syrus in the process.

"Jade?! As in Jade Princeton?! Are you telling me you got a challenge from Jade Princeton?!" Chumley cried out in alarm and shook Jaden as he did so.

"Well yeah!" Jaden managed to blurt out as Chumley continued to shake him. "Take a look for yourself."

Chumley did just that, he took the PDA from Jaden and read the message, after he read it, he just gawked at Jaden and shook his head.

"Seriously?! Princeton is challenging you to a duel tonight in less than forty minutes in the academy?!" he said disbelievingly. "This has to be an obelisk trick to try and get back at you for beating Peterson so don't do it!"

Jaden sat surprised and contemplated on what Chumley said, it seemed that Chumley had some strong views on this considering he went through the whole trial year giving him a full understanding, but the prospect of another duel had already made up his mind.

"Wait a minute" he heard Chumley say as the big guy looked again at the message. "Keep your word? Decided to give you that duel?" he read and looked to Jaden for answers. "What does she mean by that?"

Jaden felt nervous as Chumley gave him a piercing stare.

"Well, I offered Jade a duel back on the ship yesterday so…" he began and trailed off a bit, but Chumley got the message.

"You did what?! You challenged an elite ten member to a duel?! Back on the ship?!"

Jaden had no choice to chuckle nervously as back then it seemed like a no biggie but from Chumley's reaction, it was a huge biggie. Syrus however was interest in something that Chumley said and stepped in between them to get the attention.

"Er excuse me but who are the elite ten?" the small boy asked. "You mentioned them earlier at the dinner hall so who are they."

Chumley blinked before stepping back, giving Jaden some room, and sighed.

"The elite ten are the top-ranking duellists and they are all from the blue dorm. Five from the boy's dorm and five from the girls. The number one holder is the obelisk nightmare herself while the second spot is held by Alexis Rhodes with Jade Princeton following behind. Fourth spot is…was held by Atticus Rhodes followed by Harrington Rosewood in fifth" Chumley explained as he went into detail. "The sixth top duellist is Nora Wells; she is also the nightmares second and closest confidant. I wouldn't say they are friends, but they are close. Seventh is a guy called Damon who is a bit of an outdoors nut, nice guy considering his dorm. Eighth is a girl called Missy, she sees herself as the nightmare's rival but…its clear that Truesdale doesn't care."

Both Syrus and Jaden listened in enthusiastically with Jaden being the more enthusiastic as each name mentioned is practically a potential opponent.

"Ninth member is a guy called Belowski, like Damon he is pretty chill but odd…he doesn't seem to go to classes like the other students and receives from what I can tell is separate tutoring and…and…" Chumley continued and trailed off as he tried to think of anything else to add but it was clear to his audience that he has got nothing. "I don't know much about the last guy, but I hear he is an exchange student with a Prussian lineage or something so the proud sort."

"So…can I duel them?" Jaden just asked outright as Chumley finished, causing him to be amazed at Jaden's enthusiasm or stupidity and to Chumley, he felt that it was the later.

"Didn't you hear what I just said?" Chumley demanded.

"Yeah…" Jaden simply replied but it felt like he didn't.

Syrus could only sigh as Chumley spoke, trying to get Jaden to get it in his head about the situation and that he shouldn't take it lightly. As he watched this, he noticed that Chumley had dropped Jaden's PDA and if flashed for a moment. Picking it up he sees that there was a new notification on it but before he could tell them, he must have touched the screen for a moment because the new message opened on screen.

"I recommend you set off now so as to avoid the ground patrols better, you will find the entrance to the emergency stairway at the end of the ground floor corridor to the right by the elevators you see once you walk in. Don't dawdle, this is a one-time offer only."

"Er Jaden" Syrus called out, speaking other Chumley as he did so. "She sent another message."

He passed the PDA to Jaden, allowing him and Chumley to read it. Chumley remained unconvinced by it and shook his head again.

"I still think this is a set up so my advice, you are not going" Chumley said adamantly, crossing his arms as Jaden pointed to the screen.

"You sure? I mean she left instructions to get there and if it were a set up then why give the instructions in the first place. I think I should go" Jaden said and Chumley stepped between Jaden and the door.

"No, you are not! This is totally not licious and you will get caught and expelled!"

Jaden felt stuck as he didn't know what to do, he was prevented from getting to the door and Syrus was just watching. Might as well as Jaden wasn't sure how he could be of help against the big guy in front of him. Then to the corner of his eye, Jaden saw that his bag, which contained his decks and duel disk was being moved towards the door, unnoticed by the other two and as it got closer to the door he saw the handle slowly move as the door quietly opened.

"Yubel you beautiful spirit you" Jaden thought as she realised what she was doing. Now he had to find away out himself. "Okay your right, let me just send her a message that I'm not going."

Chumley relaxed as he watched Jaden type something on the PDA and after a few seconds, Jaden put the PDA down on the desk.

"There, it's done. I really wanted to take that challenge though" Jaden then said, sounding down about it. "Can I now leave the room please. I want to use the toilet before we retire for the evening."

Chumley eyed him suspiciously but seeing that Jaden is leaving his PDA on the desk, it clearly meant that he won't be gone long.

"Sure, thing but don't take too long alright. The lighting in the toilets go out after certain time and they will stay off unless you like doing your business in the dark."

"Got it" Jaden replied and with Chumley stepping aside, he was able to get to the door. As he opened it, he looked back for a quick second. "Won't be long."

Chumley nodded as he watched Jaden close the door behind him and hearing him head to the outer stairway. He then gave a huge sigh and a yawn as he began to make his way to his own bunk.

"Well, that's that. I am hitting the hay so good night" he announced as he climbed into the top bunk.

"I better get ready too" Syrus said to him and made his way to his bag to get his kit out. As he did so he noticed something strange, and it gave him pause. "Huh, that's odd."

"What is?" the tired voice of a soon to be sleeping Chumley sounded from the top bunk.

"Jaden's bag is missing, the small one where he keeps his decks and stuff. It was right here by the desk along with mine. At least that's where I last saw it when I came in" Syrus replied as he then grabbed his bag and moved towards the middle bunk. "He must have moved it earlier, I think."

Chumley didn't reply so Syrus assumed he dozed off and continued what he was doing when the PDA on the desk gave another buzz. Syrus looked back to it for a second, thinking it to be a reply to Jaden's message and then without warning the bunk shook with movement as Chumley, no longer seemingly tired, hurried out of the top bunk and rushed to the desk. Grabbing the PDA he tapped the screen to read the message. Syrus, unsure what was happening joined him and took a glance at the PD's screen and sees two messages, the first being what Jaden must have sent and the second being the reply and to his surprise, it was the opposite of what Jaden said he sent.

"On my way!"

"Good"

Chumley then rushed to the door and almost yanked it open as he ran outside and looked towards the pathway towards the academy. In the light of the moon, he could see a figure sprinting towards the academy itself and he didn't need to figure out who it was.

"That crazy son of a bitch!"

Obelisk Blue Girls Dorm

"He is coming" Jade announced as she buttoned up her jacket. Sadie however had already changed out of her dress. Perks of working in a store, you learn to change your attire very quicky.

"Guess he really doesn't pass up an opportunity to duel. I mean he didn't when challenged by Peterson, but I was half expecting that he would back out coz, well the rules. He must know that late night duels are punishable by expulsion, right?"

Jade paused for a moment and looked to her PDA, the slifer's reply that he will be there marked two possibilities. One, he didn't know the rules which would make since as he missed the introduction, courtesy of Crowler. And two, he does know the rules but is willing to break them as he would never pass up a chance to duel.

"It no longer matters; he is going so I should be there too. I am the one who challenged him after all" Jade stated and grabbed her coat. She grabbed her duel disk and put her deck into the socket. "I better message those two idiots otherwise they will be complaining about not being there."

"Let me do that" her cousin interrupted. "Lets just focus on sneaking out without being seen."

"We?" Jade questioned as she reached the door. "You're not coming, are you?"

"You bet your ass I am! No way I am letting you go alone with those two morons; they are more likely to attract attention and I need to make sure you don't get caught."

"Suit yourself" Jade replied and excited her room, the hallway was still lit but it was quiet as everyone was in either their own rooms or still with friends. The building was made to be perfect so odd sounds were impossible but that didn't stop her from treading quietly to the main staircase with her cousin in tow.

"Okay, they got the message and will meet us somewhere halfway or at the entrance out of sight. If they are able to achieve that mind you" she heard Sadie whisper to her from behind.

"Well, if they get caught. That should create a good enough distraction if we need to sneak inside" Jade replied. "Now lets just focus on getting there."

However, unknown by the two of them, they were heard partially as Alexis peaked around the doorframe to her room and watched as Jade and Sadie head downstairs. Originally, she was going to see Mindy and Jasmine but upon opening the door, she overheard the two talking and when she took a peek, she noticed Jade wearing her duel disk. She frowned as it was clear that Jade was going to do a late-night duel which Alexis knew well that Jade wasn't stupid to do but from what she had just seen she could be wrong.

"What are you doing Princeton?" she thought as she closed the door and went to her wardrobe. If she was going to follow and see that what was going on, she is not doing it in her nightwear.

Duel Academy Main Entrance, Ten minutes later

The automatic doors opened as Jaden hurried in and paused to catch his breath a bit. It wasn't the same as the sprint back in Domino City where he almost missed his exam, but it was near enough. At his side, Yubel fully appeared along with Kuriboh and the two stared at Jaden, impressed at his stamina.

"You know if you fail at duelling, you could always apply for the Olympic team" Yubel said as Jaden took a few more deep breaths.

"Not funny" Jaden replied as he took in his surroundings. The academy was very different at night with only a few lights on but mostly it was illuminated by the moonlight. He then eyed the elevators to his right and just passed them is the corridor he needs to take. "Right so we need to take that corridor over there to the stairs and climb up…I don't know how many floors. Couldn't we take the elevator instead?"

Kuriboh chirped in disagreement.

"Fine, we won't take the elevator" Jaden grumbled and headed towards the corridor. "Could you check ahead to see that we are in the clear."

Kuriboh gave a nod and flew ahead leaving Yubel with Jaden.

"So, you think she is up ahead?" Yubel asked as she floated beside him.

"Maybe not, I know that there is a possibility that the obelisk dorms are located closer to the academy but considering I ran like a mini marathon to get here. I think we got here first."

As the two turned the corner, past the elevators they see the corridor the need to go down and at the far end was the door to the stairway.

"That must be our way up, lets get a move on" Jaden said and as quietly as he could, he down the corridor towards the door. Yubel watched the rear as she followed him while Kuriboh waited for them at the door. As Jaden finally reached it, he eyed the handle suspiciously as if it were to bite his hand off. "Hey Kuriboh, can you check to see if this door is wired. You know that it could trigger an alarm or something."

Kuriboh chirped an eager reply which made Jaden raise his eyebrows.

"You already checked, and it isn't" he inquired and Kuriboh chirped again. "And there are no cameras inside the stairway? This place must have decided to go cheap with this area."

And with that, Jaden grabbed the handle and opened the door, he was somewhat expecting something like a mini alarm going off but nothing happened and so he stepped in. It appeared to be a normal fire exit with reinforced stairs going up but there were few windows, and the lighting was dim. It made Jaden realise that leaving his PDA that contained a torch function behind at the dorm was a mistake, but he had to convince Chumley that he wasn't going to go and that was the first thing that came to mind.

"Huh, well up we go then" he muttered but as he took a step forward. Yubel had wrapped herself around him tightly. It gave both him and Kuriboh warning signs as Jaden felt it was suspiciously seductive. "Er Yubel? What are you doing?"

Yubel snuggled closer and made a seductive noise to his ear and before either Jaden or Kuriboh could react. Her wings stretched out and became posed.

"Hold on tight my love."

Before Jaden could ask what, she meant, Yubel sprang into action and flew upwards, taking a extremely surprised Jaden in tow and leaving Kuriboh alone on the ground floor.

"Damn woman had me fooled!" he chirped angrily as he wasted no time in flying after her.

Duel Academy Main Entrance, a few minutes later

The door opened as Chumley walked, feeling both winded and sick in the stomach and Syrus was feeling not much different, just more winded.

"Man, I hate running" Chumley moaned as he collapsed on his knees and took deep heavy breaths. "This is why I don't do sports."

"Maybe that's why you are fat" Syrus muttered under his breath.

"I heard that pipsqueak."

Syrus awkwardly laughed as Chumley just rolled his eyes and looked at the messages on Jaden's PDA.

"We need to go this way" he groaned as he picked himself up of the floor and made tired steps as he walked towards the elevators.

"Shouldn't we take a break first?" Syrus asked as he followed Chumley to the corridor.

"Not unless you want to be caught" this original slifer replied as they turned the corner unawares that the main entrance doors had opened. The two crept down the corridor and every time they passed another corridor on the way down, they carefully passed it with looking down in case there was a patrol by the committee. Fortunately for them, each one they passed was devoid of any movement, so they got to the door with ease. As they did, Chumley frowned as he found the door still open and taking a quick look, he sees that the stairway is empty for now. "This must have been Jaden; how could he be so careless as to leave the door open. What if the discipline committee or worse, the action squad found it open!"

Syrus came to his side and took a look himself, he didn't like how creepy the emergency stairway looked thanks to the dim lighting. Looking up he couldn't see where it ended, he couldn't see any sign of Jaden for that matter.

"You think they have?" he asked Chumley, feeling pretty concerned about it.

"If they did, we would have seen some of them when we walked in. They are tight on how they do security" Chumley answered, taking a step forward and looked upwards also. "He must have run up the stairs because I cannot see any sign of him, and I doubt we were too far away to catch up unless he is a good sprinter."

"Yeah maybe" Syrus muttered and eyed the stairs. "Shall we?"

Chumley groaned as he felt it was better to take the elevator, but it doesn't go all the way up and they are likely to get caught if the doors opened to a security patrol as they are more likely to use them over the stairs.

"No choice" he said, and they both approached the first step. Suddenly they were grabbed from behind and before they could cry out, their mouths were covered by a strong grip each. Both panicked as thoughts on who it was raced through their minds, and they were about to find out as whoever grabbed them had turned them around and the light from a torch was shone into their faces.

"What are you two doing here?!"

Duel Academy, the very top floor

Jaden held the side railing tightly as he was coming to grips with what just happened and how he got to where he was. Yubel had just flown him all the way to the top and it barely lasted five second, he thought as the duel spirit herself was looking through the window in the door. Checking to see if it was clear to head to the arena.

"Looks clear, doesn't look like this part of the academy gets checked much" Yubel muttered and turned to Jaden only to smirk at his reaction. "Oh c'mon, it wasn't that bad."

"Not bad? I feel like my heart is going to explode!" the boy retorted.

Yubel smirked as it was hilarious to see him either over-reacting or being serious about it.

"I'll check and in fairness, you did all right for your first go."

"There's going to be another?!"

She gave a laugh in reply and opened the door. She stepped into the hallway and stepped forward several paces before looking to the left. The lights were not on, but it didn't matter as it appears that the entire left side of the hallway was windowed to allow light it and she whistled at the view that was available.

"Now that's what I call a view" she said aloud.

Jaden, curious to what she meant, joined her and his eyes went wide as he can see a good chunk of the island. He could see the docks and the pathway to the academy but also that was all he could make out as the top of the third dome blocked the rest of the view.

"Shame that other dome is in the way, we could have been able to see the dorms from here" Jaden pointed out as he made his way from the window and walked down the hallway with Kuriboh and Yubel following beside him. They headed down the angled hallway for about a minute when they saw an entrance to a side corridor.

"I'm guessing this is our way forward now" Yubel commented as the three of them looked down and at the end they can see a lit clearing. Not wanting a second more, Jaden ran down the corridor toward the clearing and once he got there he gasped. It clearly was the biggest arena he had seen as the audience stairs where way larger than the arena from before. It almost looked like the audience stands of a football field but smaller and in the middle was the raised platform where the duels are conducted. He also noticed what looked like an observation booth at the far back of the arena. Possibly where the chancellor or the teachers watch the duels. Whatever it was, the place still amazed Jaden greatly.

"This place is awesome!" he cried out, not caring it caused a little echo as he made his way to the arena platform. There were some steps at one end, no doubt for duellists to get on the platform. He sprinted up them and again took in his surroundings. It was still giving him goosebumps.

"Someone is very eager" Yubel commented as Kuriboh flew around, examining the area.

"Can you blame me" Jaden admitted as sat down, still amazed at the place. Kuriboh after a while joined him at the platform once he finished looking around himself.

"There is no one around" the furball chirped as Jaden opened his bag.

"That's because we are the first ones to arrive buddy" Jaden said happily as he got his duel disk out.

"That's not what I meant" Kuriboh thought as he meant there wasn't any teachers or night guards anywhere nearby. It didn't matter to Jaden though as once he got his duel disk on his arm and placed his deck into the deck socket. He sat back down and began to wait.

"It won't be long now; I can almost taste the duel" he said enthusiastically and looked towards the corridor he came through earlier. "This going to be fun."

20 Minutes later

The sound of multiple footsteps alerted Jaden that a group of people was getting closer and at first, he panicked, thinking it was a group of night guards, but he then heard a familiar voice come from the corridor as the footsteps got nearer.

"Stop squirming slifer runt!"

"Make me ugly!" the familiar voice replied.

"Wait that sounded like Syrus" Jaden thought.

"Well looks like they are here" Yubel commented. "Best me and the furball disappear from sight now."

"Okay but stay close" Jaden told them as they disappeared.

A few seconds later, his challenger appeared followed by to Jaden's surprise, Syrus, Chumley, the card shop girl from earlier, and the two meatheads, Troy and Bratt.

"I see you got here early" Jade said to Jaden as she made her way to the other end of the arena.

"What can I say, if there is a duel going down then I'm there" he replied but turned his attention to the others as he wasn't expected to seem them. He first looked to Syrus and Chumley whom the latter was not happy. "Why are you two here?"

Chumley grumbled angrily under his breath, so it was Syrus who answered.

"Well, we figured what you were doing when we noticed your bag was gone and we also checked your PDA so yeah, we are here because of that. Also, Chumley is mad about it as you can see."

"Mad? I'm furious!" the big guy finally spoke, causing Jaden to feel guilty.

"Sorry about that" Jaden said to Chumley, but it seemed that it would take more than an apology to get back in Chumley's good graces. With his roommates spoken to, he looked to the girl he saw earlier at the card shop before his duel against Peterson. He wasn't sure why she was here, but it made him curious about it. "Hi again" he said to her. "I don't think I ever got your name?"

Sadie was slightly taken unawares by the question but then she did recall not telling him her name, but it was said by Dorothy.

"You forgot? Dorothy said my name when we were back at the shop" she replied, causing Jaden to feel like he should have remembered.

"Really? Sorry I must have forgotten" he chuckled embarrassingly. "Well let's start over, I'm Jaden but you already know that."

Sadie gave a smirk at Jaden's attempt at introductions. "At least he is trying to be sweet about it" she thought. "The name's Sadie, nice that we are now fully acquainted."

"Same, now I don't want to be rude or anything but why are you here exactly? It's just that it seems odd that you are now present at my second duel of the day" Jaden asked, still unsure why she is here.

"A reasonable question. I am here because I am watching my cousin's back" Sadie replied, and Jaden was surprised to hear it.

"Her cousin? Oh yeah, she said that she and her cousin are here in duel academy and that the cousin is the duellist while she is more towards the work ethic" he realised as he put the pieces together but as he did so he realised something else. "Wait hang on, if Sadie's cousin is the duellist and she is here to watch her cousins back then that means…" he wondered and within a second, he looked towards the other end of the arena and sees Jade taking up her position at the opposite end. The pieces clicked in place in his head as he turned back to Sadie.

"Your Jade's cousin?" he asked and a acknowledging nod from her was confirmation enough. "Wow, didn't see that coming" he thought and gave a grin. "Well, since she is your cousin. Please don't hate me when I beat her."

Sadie just gave a short laugh as she didn't believe that he had a chance to win against Jade and Jaden can see that. Now all that was left was the last two, Troy and Bratt. Why they were here was a no brainer, they practically seem to follow Jade around like lap dogs or something so there was no point in asking, only telling.

"Now I don't need to ask why you two are here as you always follow Jade around it seems so…no point asking" Jaden told them directly and they didn't like it.

"The hell!" they both began as they glared angrily at the slifer but a certain someone was having none of it.

"Shut up you two" Jade informed them, placing her deck into the duel disk as she did so. "I am not here for your idiocy. I am here to duel and nothing more."

Jaden couldn't help but grin when he heard that. The only thing that matters is the fun that is about to happen, but he couldn't help but wonder why.

"Hey Jade, before we start let me ask you something" Jaden said to her, making Jade stop for a moment. "What made you change your mind? You have to admit but it was rather quick considering yesterday you stated you had no interest in duelling me, so why now?"

Jade smiled and decided to taunt him a little.

"What makes you think there is a reason, maybe I just this over and done with so you won't ask me again in the future" she simply replied but was surprised to see Jaden shake his head.

"No offence Jade but I don't think that's how you do things."

Jade scoffed in response and raised her duel disk.

"Your right. It's not how I do things, let me show you how I do things."

To Jaden, what she said felt like the firing pistol at the starting line. The fun was finally about to begin.

"I thought you would never ask" he said rather cocky in her direction and at the same time they both activated their duel disks.

"Lets duel!" they both cried and the others braced as the duel had now begun.

"Ladies first?" Jaden declared aloud and Jade grinned in response.

"Thank you, but you will see that was a mistake" she replied and drew a card. "First I summon Reborn Zombie in defence mode."

A grey-haired half skeletal zombie dressed in rags emerged in defence mode on the field.

"And then I will finish my turn with one face down" she said as she put a card in the spell/trap zone which glowed on the field for a moment. Jaden watched as she ended her turn and for some reason, he felt a little down and it showed on his face. And it was noticed by his opponent. "What's wrong with you Jaden? Don't tell me your thinking of quitting."

"No, I'm not" he replied. "I'm just confused. I mean something like Reborn Zombie and a single face down isn't something I thought one of the elite ten would start with."

Jade became surprised for a moment and tilted her head.

"Oh, so you know about that?" she asked.

"Yeah, Chumley filled me in" Jaden answered, still feeling a little disappointed at the duel so far.

"That so" Jaden commented and looked to where Chumley stood for a moment. "Well, if you think that then please, show me how one of the elite ten should start."

Unbeknownst to Jaden, Chumley tensed up as he knows what was up but he didn't say anything as now he wanted to know what Jaden would do. And he was about to get his answer.

"Well since you asked, I think it should have started with a bang. Like this!" he declared and drew a card. He then noticed that the card he drew was Avian and looking at his hand he sees he has two cards necessary to start big, but he also noticed another card in his hand who gave him a wink. "Hey Kuriboh, looks like you may get a go before Yubel."

"Lucky bastard" he heard Yubel bellow from within the deck and it brought a smile to his face.

"Don't worry Yubel, you will get a chance" he told her and turned his attention back to the duel. "Well for starters, lets go with the spell card Polymerisation" he revealed. "And I am going to use it to fuse Elemental Hero Avian and Burstinatrix together to create Elemental Hero Flame Wingman in attack mode!"

Everyone watched as the monster who beat Peterson appear on the field, the single-winged humanoid towered over Jade's zombie, and it looked like its dragon headed arm was going to take a bite out of it. Both Bratt and Troy irked at the sight of it as they remembered what it did to Peterson, but Syrus was excited. He saw it beat Peterson and with it no doubt being Jaden's best card and it is now on the field, it appeared that Jaden may win.

"Awesome, he brought wingman out" he said to Chumley. "Jaden has definitely got this" he said further but Chumley just looked at the duel with a stern gaze. It seemed that the appearance of the flame wingman didn't do anything, and this got Syrus confused. "Err, Chumley? Jaden does have this right?"

Chumley took his eyes off the duel for a moment and looked to Syrus.

"No, not really."

Jade crossed her arms as she stared down the large elemental hero, her lips curled into a smirk, but Jaden was obliviously unawares.

"Now this is what I am talking about. Starting off with a bang, you impressed?" Jaden called to her, wanting to know what she has to say.

"Not bad I guess but you failed to realise one thing" she replied.

"Okay, and what's that?" the slifer asked, unsure what she means.

"Starting with a bang can most assuredly get you a one-way ticket to losing the duel, like this!" Jade explained and pointed to the field. "I activate my face down, Chthonian Polymer!"

Jade's facedown became upright and emitted a dark purplish glow. The glow began to freak out Syrus while the others, mainly Sadie and Chumley calmly watched. The same couldn't be said for Bratt and Troy as they were grinning ear to ear.

"All right, now that slacker is going to be in trouble!" Troy happily called out, making Syrus worried as he realised that Jaden may now be in a bad situation as Jade continued the duel.

"In trouble indeed, you see Jaden, Chthonian Polymer can only be activated when my opponent fusion summons a fusion monster and that is exactly what you did. And now my trap's ability activates, by sacrificing one card on my side of the field. I can take control of your wingman!" Jade revealed as the trap card's purplish glow began to envelop both her and Jaden's monsters.

"Seriously, no way" Jaden could only gasp as he watches Flame Wingman change sides and Reborn Zombie is sent to the graveyard. The purplish glow of Chthonian Polymer left his fusion monster but now he was against his own monster. Jade placed her hands on her hips as she watched Jaden's surprised expression.

"That's what you get for being cocky about your monster's Jaden. Since you bragged about him earlier, I figured you would bring him out eventually" she thought and seeing Jaden look back to his hand, it was clear that he was trying to find a way out, as if he could. "Well Jaden, how is that for a bang?"

To her surprise, Jaden was grinning, as if he was enjoying every single moment of the duel. His expression also surprised the others.

"I got to admit, that was one sweet bang. I am loving this duel, but my turn is not over yet as I can still summon a normal monster as fusion summons don't count so…I summon Elemental Hero Clayman in defence mode!" he announced and a huge monster that appears to be wearing grey coloured armour appeared on the field, crouching with arms crossed.

"And that's my turn" Jaden declared, knowing he cannot do much yet but to him the duel was still young.

"My draw then" Jade stated as placed the new card into her hand. "First I summon Chthonian Warrior in attack mode."

A warrior type monster wearing Tolkien Orc-like armour and wielding a huge, yet sharp sword appeared by wingman.

Chthonian Warrior Lv4

ATK/ 1200 DEF/ 1400

"Now Flame Wingman will lead the attack and take out your monster with sky dive scorcher!"

Flame Wingman leapt into the air and fire covered his body as he lunged into Clayman, passing through with Clayman only having a few seconds before exploding.

"And don't forget about your monster's special ability Jaden, you now take damage equal to your destroyed monster."

Jaden gulped as wingman stood before him and raised his dragon arm into Jaden's face and just like that, fire engulfed Jaden who flinched. It may be a hologram, but it doesn't stop for from reacting to it.

Jaden Yuki: 4000LP – 3200LP

"And I am not finished yet, I still have one monster left for my attack phase. Chthonian Warrior, slice him with windstorm slash!"

The warrior responded with a charge, sword held high and as it got to Jaden, he slashed at him with the sword simply going through. Jaden felt the urge to duck, but he didn't have time to do it due to the speed of it.

Jaden Yuki: 3200LP – 2000LP

Within the second turn, Jade had halved his life points while hers remained untouched. To those watching depending on who they were routing for, they were either worried or enthusiastic but to Jaden, he was thrilled. Now this was a duel he can enjoy and began hoping that the duels he will get involved in the future will be just as exciting.

"Man, this is fun" he said to himself as Jade finished off her turn.

"I will then finish this turn with a facedown, your move."

The spectators watched with mixed feelings, Syrus didn't like what he was seeing, both Chumley and Sadie maintained their cool, but both Troy and Bratt were getting too excited. The sight of Jaden losing half his life points in one turn made them feel certain that Jade was going to wipe the floor with him. In fact, they were so into it they didn't see a figure arrive behind them.

"Oh yeah that slifer slacker is going to pay for everything" Bratt cried out. "This is what happens when you rat out your better's punk" he called out to Jaden who wondered what they were talking about.

"What?" he could only ask but was stopped further by Jade.

"Ignore those idiots but if you must know. They think you were the one who informed the committee and Crowler about that incident on the ship yesterday" she explained.

"Wait what? I didn't do that!" he defended himself but both Bratt and Troy responded with sneers and insults.

"Don't lie slifer scum, if it wasn't you then maybe it was failure Truesdale over here" Troy declared, pointing at Syrus as he did, and it did not go unnoticed by Chumley.

"Huh, what did he just say?" he questioned and looked to Syrus who began to feel nervous by the pressure as he became the centre of attention. "Did that obelisk call you Truesdale, as in like Zara Truesdale?"

Even Sadie was surprised by it and decided to give Syrus a closer look.

"Now that I think of it, I did hear that Zaria was annoyed about something" she joined in. "Something about a sibling getting accepted so that true? Are you really Zaria's sibling?"

It was at this moment Jaden realised that Syrus was now practically trapped, he was getting stared down by Chumley who clearly has no love for Zara and now Jade's cousin was asking questions. And both Bratt and Troy were not helping matters.

"Hey, will you get your head out of the clouds and focus on the duel" he heard Jade call to him but before he could answer. He panicked as Chumley grabbed Syrus by the shoulders which alarmed Syrus a lot.

"It's true, isn't it? Your related to the obelisk nightmare?!" Chumley asked in anger as his eyes narrowed and Syrus could do nothing but whimper. To Jaden the situation became worse, and Jade finally noticed as she saw Chumley grab the light blue haired kid. Sadie backed off as the tension got serious, but the two obelisk thugs were enjoying it, and Troy decided to add more wood to the fire.

"That's right Huffington, that mousy little twerp is Truesdale's little brother. How does it feel to have the sibling of the one who scared all your friends away last year share the same dorm as you?"

The two enjoyed the moment as Chumley became furious, never taking his eyes of Syrus and just as Bratt decided to join in. Someone forced Troy around and slapped him hard in the face, the resounding slap got everyone's attention as Troy yelped in response.

"Ow who the fuck?!" he yelled, turning to see who it was but stopped when he is surprised to find a pissed off Alexis glaring at him with what can only be described as pure disgust at his behaviour. No one in the arena said a word as her appearance surprised them all, even both Chumley and Syrus were distracted from what they previously doing with the latter, Syrus, go red in the face due to what she was wearing. Alexis due to overhearing Jade and Sadie's conversation back in the dorm rushed to get some clothing so to follow them right away and simply getting her uniform back on wasn't quick enough, so she just grabbed gym-based trousers and a sports bra. If anyone saw her outside at night, they would think she was doing a late-night jog. The result showed a bit more of herself in terms of mid-riff, cleavage and shoulders but nothing else. Jaden gulped a little as he took in the sight and his duel spirit companions noticed something was up.

"What's going on? Why am I not hearing any duelling?" Yubel called from the deck.

Jaden didn't know how to respond but he didn't need to as Kuriboh chirped in response.

"Alexis? She's here!" Yubel responded and to see for herself, she excited the deck in her transparent form and hovered by Jaden's side. Upon seeing Alexis has indeed joined them, she was surprised like the rest but noticed the young lady's expression and figured it out. "She is not happy that we are here is she?" she asked Jaden who nodded slightly.

"Looks that way" he replied.

"Well despite that, you must admit no matter if she is mad or calm, she is looking hot. Are you seeing what she is wearing?" the duel spirit added, earning a look from Jaden in response.

"Are you really just checking her out?" he demanded.

"Aren't you?"

Caught off guard, he couldn't help but go red as he looked away, causing Yubel to giggle.

"Ha, knew it."

Out of them all, Jade was the first to regain some composure and focused her attention on the unexpected newcomer.

"Rhodes, what are you doing here?"

Alexis glanced back to Jade and took a step forward.

"I should be asking you all that very question" she replied and continued onward to where Chumley and Syrus are standing. Chumley hold over Syrus concerned her, and she intended to stop it. "Could you please let Syrus go Huffington, he gets enough abuse from his sister so please don't add more to it."

Chunley blinked and looked to Syrus, his hold still on him but he can see that Syrus was still intimidated at the situation so without a second thought, he let the boy go.

"Yeah, er, sorry" he spoke quietly, feeling a bit ashamed of himself for acting the way he did but Alexis knew he had good reason to be angry but that will be addressed later as she walked between them and focused her attention on Jaden.

"And what exactly made you think that participation in a late-night duel, which is greatly forbidden, was a great idea?"

Jaden smiled sheepishly and rubbed his head.

"Well, I couldn't say no to a challenge" he answered, hoping that she would get it, but she seemed to sigh in disappointment.

"Seriously, what are you, a child?" she stated, she thought that Jaden at least had some restraint with duelling, but it seems he would jump into the ocean if someone said that they would duel him if he did so. "Couldn't you had least waited until tomorrow outside of class like a normal person?"

"But it was a onetime deal. I had to take it" Jaden then pointed out. "So, there was no way I could refuse. If I did, I would never get another go at it."

"Onetime deal huh?" she thought and glanced over to the obvious culprit. "Is this some attempt to get Jaden expelled? To get back at him for what he did to both Crowler and Peterson?"

The accused scoffed a laugh at the accusation. To Jade it seemed like a childish assumption but one she better answer overwise it will be considered the truth and that will be a pain.

"You couldn't be more wrong Rhodes, his win against Crowler was just luck which he admits but against Peterson, that got me interested since that oaf never lost to a slifer. And since Jaden here offered to duel me yesterday, I thought I might as well take it." Jade defended herself, telling Alexis the real reason why she was doing this. "Also, I wanted to see if he had the nerve to go to a duel even if it went against him like saying breaking the rules to do it."

"Even if it cost him his place here at the academy" a second voice spoke, and all looked to see Syrus glaring at Jade. He appeared to have quickly recovered from his small ordeal with Chumley. "Why should we believe you?"

"Because Syrus, I will be expelled also if the faculty finds out about that I took part also" the obelisk duellist pointed out. "Speaking of which, you two!" Jade then called out to both Troy and Bratt. "I want you two to keep an eye on the main stairway just in case that the top levels will be checked after all."

"But Jade, we want to watch you beat this slifer loser" Bratt objected but Jade stared him down. "Fine we'll go."

The group the reluctant duo leaves the scene and when they were out of sight as they disappeared into the hallway. Jade turned her attention back to the duel.

"Now then that the idiots are out of the way, I believe it is your turn Jaden" she pointed out to Jaden, but Alexis wasn't happy with it.

"Are you serious?!" the blonde asked in disbelief to the two. "You both should be thinking of stopping right now before we all get busted."

"Sorry Lex but I cannot leave a duel unfinished" Jaden replied, leaving her stunned. "Okay Jade let's get back into this" he then declared and drew a card. "I summon Elemental Hero Sparkman in attack mode."

Elemental Hero Sparkman Lv4

ATK/ 1600 DEF/ 1400

A blue armoured hero looking monster appeared in a flash of blue electricity and took a combat stance.

"I then also place a card face down and now Sparkman will attack your Chthonian Warrior directly" Jaden declared and pointed at Jade's monster. "Now attack with Static Shockwave!"

Electric sparks began to emit from Sparkman and with a simple point of the finger, an electric stream of energy flew from Sparkman's fingertips and landed directly on target as the resulting attack instantly caused Jade's monster to explode. And since the destroyed monster was in attack mode, it also came out of her life points.

Jade Princeton: 4000LP – 3600LP

"Looks like I am still in this fight Jade" Jaden called out but the next second felt that he celebrated too soon as from where Jade's Chthonian Warrior used to be, the destroyed monsters sword came out of nowhere and landed directly at Jaden. It surprised him completely and what made things worse he noticed that his life point meter had changed.

Jaden Yuki: 2000LP – 1600LP

"Wait, what just happened?" he asked to no one as he looked at his life point meter.

"Nothing much" he heard Jade say to him. "Just my monster's special ability, you see when Chthonian Warrior is destroyed. The damage inflicted to my life points also comes out of my opponent's life points just as you just witnessed."

To the spectators, it was seen as events before the end as Alexis crossed her arms, looking at Jaden with a sad look.

"Well, he gave his best but right now he has put himself into a bad situation, with only sixteen hundred life points left and his Sparkman in attack mode. All he can do is wait and get destroyed by his own Flame Wingman" she thought sadly. "At least it won't make him feel down as it would to the other slifers, he doesn't seem to be the kind of person to take a loss very seriously like it's the end of the world."

And true to her thoughts, Jaden looked up from his life point meter and displayed a wide grin. The sight surprising Syrus, Sadie, and Chumley as they thought that at this point, Jaden would be affected by what they saw as the inevitable outcome and not grin like he was enjoying every moment of it.

"Man, that is one hell of an ability. I got to watch out for that move next time" he announced.

Jade simply blinked and shook her head. "To bad, there won't be a next time because now it's my turn."

She drew a card but didn't play it.

"It's over, Flame Wingman. Finish him off!"

Flame Wingman once more leapt into the air and became engulfed in flame. The others braced for what was to come while Syrus panicked as he too knew what would happen but before the strike hit its mark, Jaden sprang to action.

"Sorry to interrupt but I should mention that the face down from my last turn is a trap. And I am activating it now" he revealed as the trap activated. "And my trap is none other than Mirror Gate!"

The face down card became upright and showed what looked like crystals but the name was all that was needed for the others to realise what is about to happen.

"Mirror Gate!" Jade gasped as light began to engulf both Sparkman and Wingman. "Then that means."

"That's right, it means thanks to this trap. Both our monsters change sides during the battle stage and Wingman's attack will not be affecting me, it will be affecting you instead."

Jade watched in surprise as Sparkman appeared on her side of the field but that feeling changed to unease as she looked up to see the Flame Wingman continue its attack on Sparkman and as after it did so. Her life point meter changed as Sparkman disappeared into dust.

Jade Princeton: 3600LP – 3100LP

"Its not over yet Jade, no thanks to Wingman's special ability. You take damage equal to Sparkman's attack points" Jaden finished off and for the first time since a long while from what she could remember, it was Jade who panicked.

"What…no!" she reacted as she saw the Flame Wingman come before her and opened fire with its dragon arm. She flinched as she covered herself in a natural reaction to one who felt that they were literally attacked and as though she wasn't at all harmed physically, the same couldn't be said for the life points.

Jade Princeton: 3100LP – 1500LP

"Oh my god, Jade's life points went down below two thousand, that never happened before!" Sadie gasped in absolute shock as her cousin's life point meter went down. Both she and Chumley were staring in disbelief while Syrus laughed out in joy and Alexis felt a grin appear on her face.

"Wow, to be honest I didn't think you would pull through Jaden" she called out. "That was one very impressive counter, well done."

It was like all the annoyance she felt at them for doing something as stupid as a late-night duel had disappeared for one second and she was enjoying the duel happening before her. Chumley on the other hand was still in disbelief.

"What the heck happened; I have never seen anyone do a counter like that to Jade. No Slifer has ever done that, just like that no Slifer has ever beaten an Obelisk or Crowler" he thought to himself, and a twitch of a smile appeared on the side of his face. "Seriously, who is this guy really?"

Duel Arena Dome outer hallway, main stairway

Both Troy and Bratt grumbled in annoyance they 'not-fully' kept alert at the stairway, looking at for any night patrols that might come up. To them both, they shouldn't be the ones doing the grunt work. They should be in the arena and watch Jade wipe the floor of Jaden and that the two slifer slackers they bumped into earlier should be the ones doing the watching.

"This blows!" Troy moped as he fidgeted with a coin he took from his pocket.

"Yeah, I hear ya" his partner agreed and yawned. "We should be watching that red dorm slimeball eat his dust, not getting bored out here."

The thought of missing the whole thing just annoyed them further and Troy starting to flick the coin he had like a certain scarred cartoon villain.

"Why are we the ones doing this and not those slackers back there! They are the ones who should be out here in the dark, along with that interfering bitch Alexis" he complained but at the mention of Alexis, Bratt made a perverted grin.

"Speaking of which, you see what she was wearing?"

Troy paused and cocked an eyebrow at Bratt who maintained his grin.

"Seriously, that is what you are thinking about. That she is wearing a sports kit" he asked. "Then again why is she wearing that. Its not the usual gym uniform we got here?"

Bratt gawked as it appeared that Troy was missing the plot.

"Are you gay or something? Don't tell me that what Rhodes is wearing is not hitting your imagination or anything?"

"Shut up you fuck!" Troy argued and threw his coin at Bratt who ducked, and the coin hit the wall before clattering down the steps. "Course I am not gay! I just don't like that bitch. She is just as pathetic as that loser brother of hers."

Before Bratt could reply or say anything further, a light shone from a few floors below illuminated the stairway.

"Who's there?!"

The two jumped in alert, no longer feeling bored or annoyed as they began to hear the sound of someone walking up stairs to the floor below. It appears to Troy that someone heard his coin as it fell down the stairs and whoever heard it was now coming to investigate.

"You see anything?" another voice was heard.

"No, I am going to check the top floor. I definitely heard something."

Both obelisks looked at each other and began to freak as Troy realised what he had caused.

"Uh oh."

Duel Arena Dome

Jade was frozen for a second as what had occurred surprised her most. She knew the possibility that Jaden's face down was either a trap or a spell card but nothing like what had occurred. Her life-points have dropped a great margin all withing her own turn. She began to feel something but wasn't sure what it was, intrigue, frustration, annoyance, interest, she didn't know what she was feeling. The last slifer who went against her back when the academy was setting up the arenas barely lasted two turns, but here she is. With only fifteen hundred life points and no monsters on her side of the field, she is in a position she never been in before, but she is not powerless.

"I activate from my hand the spell card, Chthonian Blast." She announced, and in doing so regained the attention of everyone present. "What this card does is this, when one of my monsters is destroyed, I can select one face up monster on the field and destroy it."

A wind like whirlpool appeared underneath the Flame Wingman and before Jaden could say anything, his monster exploded in an instant.

"The spell isn't over! Now you take damage for half of Wingman's attack points, so you take one thousand and fifty points of damage."

Jaden Yuki: 1600LP – 550LP

The mood from Syrus and the others changed as they witnessed Jaden getting put back into square one with him facing imminent defeat. Sadie in the meantime crossed her arms and felt that this duel was already won by her cousin but was impressed with how Jaden fared so far.

"I'll admit, you did well there but I this is where you are finished as I activate my own trap, Call of the Haunted. With this card I will bring back Chthonian Warriror back from the graveyard, but he isn't staying for long as I then sacrifice him to summon, Memphis the Infernal General in attack mode."

Just as she said, the Chthonian Warrior appeared briefly before disappearing and was replaced with a warrior wearing much darker and spikier armour on a stead. The sight of it was menacing and it made Syrus cower behind Sadie who was taken by surprise by the boy's actions.

"And with that I end my turn" Jade announced.

"I gotta say, not bad" Jaden commented, catching everyone off guard.

"Not bad?" his opponent repeated. "You are an odd one Jaden so tell me, how is this not bad?"

Jaden gave a smile and drew a card; it wasn't the one he needed as he already what he needed in his hand. A certain spell card to bring back the monster he needs to win the duel. A chirp then emanated from his hand as Winger Kuriboh looked at him.

"Don't worry pal, you'll get a go next time" he said to him and returned to the duel. "Well for starters, that was a pretty sweet combo you pulled. You got rid of my monster, resurrected one of your own and used it to bring out a stronger monster to give you an edge on your next turn" Jaden explained but then held up a finger. "But as much as I want the duel to continue, I am afraid this duel is over on this very turn."

Jade's eyes went wide in surprise as the others became curious and watched him as he pulled a card from his hand.

"Time to end the fun I suppose" Jaden spoke sadly. "I activate the spell card…."

"Jade!"

The outburst got all their attention as they looked to see Troy and Bratt run back into the arena, both with the look of panic on their faces.

"Night patrol coming, we got less then five minutes!" Bratt informed them all and without a moment's hesitation, Jade pressed a button on her duel disk and her monster disappeared from view.

"Guys we got to move!" Alexis informed both Chumley and Syrus before turning to Jaden. "We need to go now."

Jaden looked at her and then back at his hand, he was seconds away from pulling a sweet move, but the duel ended before he could thanks to the incoming arrival of academy security.

"Son of a…. for fuck's sake" he muttered angrily and jumped off the arena before either Alexis, Syrus, or Chumley could say another word. "Back down the emergency exit?"

"If we are quick then yes!" Chumley replied as they began to run down the corridor but stopped when they saw the others run back to them. A light was seen at the other end growing brighter.

"Not that way!" Sadie informed them as they heard the approaching sound of footsteps. "What do we do."

Jaden looked to both his left and right, trying to see if there was another way out but as far as he could tell there wasn't one, but he realised that he could create a way out.

"Kuriboh, Yubel. Need your help here" he spoke to them and the two duel spirits appeared above him. "Don't suppose you two could create a distraction?"

"On it" Yubel said to him before flying down the hallway, Kuriboh following behind her. Jaden, seeing that this is their only chance to escape, quietly sneaked down the corridor, much to the surprise of the others.

"Jaden! What are you doing?" Chumley demanded quietly as to not get the patrol's attention but Jaden just waved at them to follow. Keeping to the wall, he continued down until he almost reached the end when the torch and the hand that was using it came into view, causing him to freeze on the spot. For a second it seemed that he was going to be caught when a loud thud was heard, coming from further down the hallway where the night guard was.

"Huh? Whose there?" the night guard demanded as he turned and headed toward the direction of the noise. Seeing this as an opportunity, he looks back to the group, who haven't moved from their position and beckoned them over. Syrus was the first to move, followed by the rest as they hurried towards Jaden as he took the chance and headed to the emergency stairway. Looking back to see the guard was gone, he opened the door and held it.

"Only chance we'll get, let's go."

Troy and Bratt were the first, barging past both Syrus and Chumley, causing the latter to curse. They were followed by Sadie and Jade with the two slifer's and Alexis right behind them. Once they were in, Jaden took his turn and did so quicky as the light of the night guards torch appeared again. He had just closed the door when he heard the guard get closer, the light shining through the doors window and the footsteps stopped for a moment. Holding his breath, Jaden waited until the guard took the turn towards the arena and fortunately for him, that is exactly what the guard did. Exhaling in relief, he headed down the stairs, the others he could here were heading down rather quickly but kept quiet as they did so, so all he had to do was catch up. As he did, both Yubel and Kuriboh appeared by his side with the female duel spirit feeling proud of herself but Kuriboh looked annoyed.

"I take it that thud was you're doing?" he asked them both.

"Naturally" Yubel replied, feeling quite proud of herself.

Kuriboh gave an angry chirp which made Jaden curious,

"All her doing. So…what, you didn't help her out?"

He heard Yubel begin to snigger as they continued down with Jaden jumping a few steps extra just to get to the ground floor faster.

"Yubel, what did you do?" he asked the sniggering spirit, but she couldn't reply so the other replied for her.

"This idiotic excuse of a duel spirit used me as the distraction by slamming me to the damn wall!" Kuriboh revealed and Yubel burst out laughing in response.

"You made it easy when you told me to find something to use to make noise and foolishly made yourself solid when doing so" she happily argued back, and Jaden groaned in realisation that the thought of the two getting along is a major difficulty.

"You two are going to become a handful" he thought as the duel spirits continued to bicker.

Duel Academy Main Entrance, Outside

Jaden had just excited the building without incident when he saw the others near the forests edge, a clear attempt to keep out of sight if a security patrol decided to look around the outer grounds. He also noticed that there was an argumentative debate going on and as he hurried closer, he began to hear what it was about.

"Shut up red wonder! It's clear that the slacker was going to lose regardless if the duel continued or not so why don't you go back to that shack you call a dorm and whine there!" the voice of Troy was heard, quite loudly so clearly stealth was off the table for the group.

"You weren't there, Jaden said he was about to end the duel right there before you two showed up so no, I don't believe he was going to lose so why don't you go back to your dorm and whine there!" the surprising voice of Syrus replied back which impressed Jaden as he wondered how the guy managed to get the confidence to argue back. Most likely thanks to both Chumley and Alexis being with him is the obvious answer, Troy was backed by Bratt while Jade just watched from behind. Sadie on the other hand was the first person he reached, and she became surprised when she noticed Jaden had re-joined them.

"Huh, I thought you got caught" she put forward, earning a chuckle from Jaden's mouth.

"Nope, got out without incident like you guys did though I had to say…it did get pretty close" he replied.

Syrus was the first to notice his arrival and called him out, once again making him the centre of the attention as the two obelisks rushed to him and grabbed him by the collar, alarming him in the process.

"Admit it slime! You lost, we saw you had nothing on the field and your life points were close to nothing!" Bratt spat in his face causing Jaden to frown.

"Well first thing, I didn't ask for the bloody weather so quit it and second, I admit nothing because I was about to win until you two ruined it" Jaden informed them. "And another thing, from the looks of that night guard, he was searching for something, so I have to ask. Did you two make some noise that gained his attention to search the top floor or was it just a coincidence?"

The two choked on their words for a brief second, either by a feeling of insult from the accusation or that Jaden's words struck closer to home then they liked.

"What…no, that didn't happen. What are you insinuating slacker?" Troy replied to defend themselves but gained an eyeful from Sadie.

"Yeah, that didn't sound guilty at all" she sarcastically said, causing the two to sweat a little.

"Enough" Jade called from behind and ignoring the two as they tried to explain themselves of make an excuse to avoid blame. She walked to Jaden with Alexis and the two other slifers watching from behind, wondering what she is going to do next. "Show me."

"Um…show you what?" Jaden asked, confused by her demand.

"The card, you said that the duel was going to end on your turn so show me the card that was going to do it. Unless you were bluffing?"

With it now explained further, Jaden simply shook his head in response to her accusation and pulled the card in question from his deck. In the rush to get out he simply put what he had in his hand to the top of the deck, so he didn't need to hassle about in getting it. He handed the card to her, and she stared at it. At first there was confusion but the longer she looked at the card, the more of the realisation came in. It showed on her face which surprised the others, but she said nothing until she handed the card back.

"And you are sure that this is the card you had, you're not lying to me by showing me what you want me to think you had?" Jade inquired.

"Trust me, this is the card I was about to play down until those two interrupted and had the duel end without a real conclusion" Jaden replied, pointed at both Troy and Bratt for good measure.

"It seems all I can do is take your word for it" Jade spoke as she glared at the two, clearly annoyed that they are the guilty party in this and wondered why they couldn't do a job properly in their life.

"Guess we will need a rematch" Jaden then said, catching her attention.

"What makes you think there will be a rematch?"

With a cheesy grin, Jaden thumb pointed over his shoulder in the direction of the academy.

"Don't tell me a member of the elite ten is satisfied with that match outcome" he explained. "If I was someone with your academic standing then I wouldn't leave it as it is."

It was if a penny dropped as Sadie, Troy, Bratt, Alexis, and Chumley gawked at Jaden literally just goaded attempt Jade Princeton to agreeing to a future rematch. It was something they themselves would never consider attempting accept Alexis who duel her in order to keep her number two position within the ten but to see a slifer do so to an elite ten was something else. All five looked to Jade to see how she will react with Syrus unsure what was going on as he witnessed their reaction.

"I know you are trying to play me Jaden" Jade then spoke, causing tension within the others but they were then shocked to see a smile appear on her face. "But you're right. We will need to finish this properly next time."

With that, Jade decided to take her leave and headed down the forest path leading to the obelisk blue dorms, her cousin and the two idiots did nothing but slowly take in what happened before following her, leaving Jaden and the others behind. Feeling pleased with himself, he joined with the remaining members of the party with a smirk.

"Looks like I am getting another duel in due time, so I think tonight went pretty well" he said to them, but they were still stunned.

"How did…. what…I'm sorry but what just happened?" Chumley stuttered. "What did you show her?!"

"I just showed her the card I was going to use to defeat her, the good ol' Monster Reborn spell card" Jaden answered Chumley's question.

All three looked at him before realisation hit both Chumley and Alexis as they figured it out, but Syrus was still in the dark.

"How would that work, you had four monsters in the graveyard. Avian, Sparkman, Clayman, and that one chic monster who's name I forgot" the small boy pointed out and gained a curious look from the others. Jaden was the first to comment but not on Syrus's miscount of monsters that were in his graveyard.

"Chic monster? Syrus don't tell me, but do you have some sort of soft spot for female monster cards?"

The question caused Syrus to blush a shade of red that was redder than the jacket he wore.

"What?! No!" he awkwardly cried out which made the others giggle at his embarrassment.

"Sorry Sy, had to ask that but in-regards to what else you said, I didn't have four monsters in the graveyard. I had five" Jaden explained after apologising but it seemed that it confused Syrus further.

"I don't get it" he revealed and felt a hand on his shoulder to which he turned and saw that Alexis was right by him which combined with what she was wearing, made him keep his blush.

"What he means Syrus is that you forgot Flame Wingman. Jaden would bring Wingman back from the graveyard and use it to destroy Jade's monster and the rest of her life points" she explained, surprising the boy greatly.

"Oh…yeah I forgot that. Sorry I was still caught up at the part that we almost got caught" Syrus sheepishly replied. "Speaking of which, how did we manage to get out? I mean if it weren't for that weird thud then that guard would have found us. Does anyone know what caused that."

"Beats me" Jaden quickly replied while hearing Yubel snigger and some more angry chirps from Kuriboh in response. "Anyway, I think we all should head back to our dorms before we are noticed."

"Bout right you are" Chumley announced gratefully. "C'mon Syrus lets go."

At first the boy didn't move, the previous events with Chumley were still fresh in his mind but he was brought out of it when Chumley patted him on the back.

"Hey, you okay kid?"

Syrus was unsure what to do but he nodded anyway and Chumley gently lead him down the pathway back to the red dorm. And from what Jaden could hear, Chumley gave Syrus another apology which pleased him a lot as Syrus needed some more friends. Before he could follow them, Alexis had stepped in front to stop him going further and the seriousness had returned to her face as she looked at him with an annoyed look.

"Just so you know, I still think what you did was absolutely foolish considering that we almost got caught. Barely your first day at the academy and you were just about to receive a one-way ticket home" she sternly told him as he rubbed the back of his head like a kid who was in trouble with his peers. "I will admit you somehow pulled it off even if you didn't fully finish the duel but please, don't do any more foolish actions."

Jaden couldn't help but think for a moment that Alexis was being caring and, in most ways, she was, more than enough reason not to do anything to disappoint as she clearly is one of those people you want to be close with. And, that Jaden wasn't the type of guy to get on the wrong end of an attractive and quite possibly an amazing individual.

"Yeah, sorry about that but like I said, no way I can pass up a duel. However, I will be more careful next time, I really want to see what else this academy has in store, and I don't want to miss it."

Taking it as a form of understanding at his own actions, Alexis relaxed and gave him a smile.

"Well as long as you don't do anything else that's reckless, you won't miss out on anything" she replied and with that, began to make her own way back to her dorm. "See you later then and again stay out of trouble."

A cold breeze then came through the forest edge, making her shudder instantly. They may be on a island but that still didn't stop it from getting really cold. Noticing this, Jaden without thinking took off his jacket and followed behind a bit.

"Hold up" he called to her, pausing her in her tracks as he offered the jacket. "Take it, least I can do so you don't freeze."

"You do realise that it's not that cold right?" she asked, completely amused by his actions.

"Yes well, even so you are…how do I put it without it sounding creepy…a little underdressed. I mean all your wearing is a tank top and jog pants" Jaden replied while trying to avert eye contact.

The avoiding eye contact confused her but looking down she noticed as the 'tank top' he believed she was wearing had two protruding appearances. The cold air clearly has made her nipples hardened as well as give her goosebumps in her arms. His innocent like actions for some reason appeared cute but also real as he still held out the jacket. With a polite smirk, she accepted the offer.

"It's a sports bra, not a tank top and you may be right, it is a bit cold" she admitted and couldn't help but blush at Jaden's behaviour. Seems like despite his complete confidence in duelling, he might not have it towards certain situations with girls.

"Okay, got it" Jaden muttered and made a slight glance but fully turned his attention on her from what he saw. Alexis had begun to put on the jacket and the movement made her flex her upper body to the point of bringing her chest forward a bit which made him red, but it was when she finally got the jacket on. Jaden's heart skipped a beat a little, the red jacket seemed to fit her well apart from that it wasn't tailored for her breasts, so it was unzipped. Still didn't stop her from looking hot in the moon light and he didn't need Yubel to exaggerate the situation. "Wow, the jacket suits you. You look good in red."

"Really, you saying I didn't look good in blue, are you?" she teased out of nowhere.

"No that's not what I meant" Jaden replied but it came out in a nervous way which made her laugh in response.

"Relax, I am just kidding. You really need to relax a bit more, there is going to be a lot more than duels in the academy that you will come across, especially the sports area where not everyone in the girl's dorm will be wearing the academy grade kit" she laughed.

A blush came to Jaden's face as an image of the possibly the entire girl's dorm in the sports hall wearing similar clothing to what Alexis is wearing. However, in terms of entire dorm, it was mostly Alexis, Jasmine, Mindy, and Jade who were the more visible wearing such attire. Quickly shaking his head, he lost the thought and focused on something else, like duelling.

"Can we not duel in the sports hall instead?" he asked, earning an amused 'seriously' look from her.

"No but we have track, tennis, rounders…oh that's basketball, and volleyball but if you are really lucky, Nurse Fontaine makes you do ballet" Alexis revealed, and Jaden's jaw dropped.

"Ballet?!" he cried out. "Please tell me you're joking."

Her laughter and the way she moved her head confirmed that she wasn't joking gave Jaden the reason to worry about sports as he did not find the concept of wearing a tutu enjoyable at all.

"Well, I best be off. See you tomorrow maybe in class, oh and just to let you know, first week is more of an induction week so don't expect much in terms of classes. That's next week."

With a final wave, she ran down the forest path, leaving Jaden alone before he could say a word. He was still red in the face and still dreaded the thought of ballet, but it passed, and he began to make his own way back. But he wouldn't be without company.

"My my, what's this, you get flustered by a girl's body and I didn't have to do anything" he heard Yubel tease him. "I am a little jealous because I am the one who is supposed to do the teasing here."

"Hey, I wasn't flustered, I just thought she looked attractive when she put on the jacket."

"Sure, you weren't" the spirit teased further. "So?"

"So what?"

"Do you like her?"

Jaden didn't stop but it did make him think and it made him eye Yubel in response.

"Please tell me you're not going to do something to her like you did to Kat, June, and Sara are you?"

The look on her face changed drastically as she went from teasing to feeling guilty a little as Jaden questioned her motives. He wasn't wrong to do so, and she knew it.

"No, no, no, no" she cried and became solid, no longer speaking through their link but now fully outright. "That is not what I was thinking, to be honest that girl, I kind of like her from what I have seen. She is a good person."

Due to her full appearance in the open, both Jaden and Kuriboh who remained quiet throughout the whole thing frantically looked around to make sure that no one was present but just them. Yubel watched them do this in absolute confusion before realising that she can fully be seen by anyone who isn't Jaden or Kuriboh. With a small shriek, she made herself transparent very quickly and now it was her who was embarrassed as she did something without thinking. Seeing that they were still indeed alone, all three breathed in relief as Kuriboh gave her what were you thinking look. He even chirped it at her to which annoyed her greatly.

"Alright I made a mistake, sorry. You're not my guardian so sod off!"

A single sweat drop appeared on Jaden's face as he now has to walk back to his dorm while listening to the argument between the two spirits. It was going to be a long walk.

"I hope someone is having a better time than I am" he thought.

Obelisk Blue, Boys Dorm, Crowler's Private Suite.

"So that's your plan? Get the Disciplinary Committee to expel my worthless little brother and that one who humiliated you for good measure" Zara's emotionless voice spoke through the speaker after Crowler had just detailed his idea to her.

"Well yes, it is the perfect angle as the academy will only see that those two did something against the rules that require that punishment. No one will think that they were implicated or tricked into such a predicament" Crowler detailed further, hoping that it will convince her as she literally has his career in her hands.

"I suppose that makes sense and is the logical choice. How soon can you do it?"

The doctor thought hard as he pondered when he can actually start to go ahead and get the two expelled thought the committee. He couldn't do it right now as they will be getting used to classes, he could start next week as by then he would have an idea on how to expel them.

"Perhaps from the start of the second week, by then I will have a clear picture on how they do things at the academy and if any side activities they do can be redirected towards acts punishable by expulsion."

There was a pause in reply from Zara's end and it put Crowler on edge as he wasn't sure if she was satisfied or not. He then heard a sigh from the speaker and began to fret that it was the latter.

"It seems that I must tolerate his worthless presence for now. Very well, I'll leave it to you but makes sure you get him out otherwise I may need to visit the chancellor about tutor conduct."

Crowler went paler than normal as he gripped the phone tightly.

"Mrs Truesdale, I assure you that isn't necessary…I…" he started but stopped when the unmistakable sound of the dial tone sounded, and he stared blankly at the phone. "She hanged up on me! Seriously, just because you're the top duellist and can clearly match up to Seto Kaiba and the king of games himself, doesn't mean you can be rude!"

Putting the phone down, he collapsed on his suite desk and gave a groaning wail that one would make when they bury their head in a pillow. At least he had a week's worth of not worrying about it was what he was thinking as he stood up and decided to retire for the evening.

"If only this was easier for me to handle like, oh I don't know, the slacker and the little brat were late night duelling or something" he muttered to himself as he made his way to the bedroom. "Go to sleep old boy, just go to sleep."

Slifer Red Dorm

Jaden had just arrived at the door to his accommodation when he heard voices coming from inside, and one of them he recognised was the dorm head. Not wanting to alarm the occupants, he quietly opened the door a little so that he can overhear what was said and it sounded like Professor Banner was not at all pleased.

"You both still haven't fully explained why you were out so late at night and where is your fellow roommate Jaden is. Chumley, please tell me what exactly is going on?" Jaden heard Banner say and realised that there could be trouble. Especially if Banner finds Jaden with his duel disk in his bag.

"Uh oh" he whispered and looked to see if he can see Yubel but she has fully disappeared but that doesn't mean she isn't near. "Yubel, could you hold my bag and stuff. I don't want the professor finding it."

"No problem" he heard her reply and took the bag off to see it float in the air and move to the side, so it was out of sight. With that out of the way, all he now had to do is convince Banner that they didn't do anything out of bounds. Thinking back, he remembered out of them all, it was Alexis who appeared to not be doing something that broke the rules from her attire. Apart from the sexiness it revealed, it was the function of it and that was exercise and sports. It made sense, he was without a jacket and now a bag, he can do a marathon and looking back in the room, both Syrus and Chumley look like they had been sweating a bit and Jaden hoped it would bring credence to what he is going to do next. Taking a deep breath, he somewhat barged into the room, grinning like a spoilt winner, and yelling at the top of his voice.

"Hey guys! Looks like you both gave up after all huh!"

The outburst and intrusion made Banner jump out of his skin and it turns out he was holding his cat as a feline sounded shriek came from Banner to as a fat brown cat leapt from his arms and onto his face.

"Ouch, Jaden?! Where were you…ow…Pharaoh, watch those claws please…. ow!"

Jaden couldn't help but feel guilty as he did just scare the two of them, perhaps he didn't think this through he was thinking as he moved to lend a hand.

"Sorry professor, I didn't know you would be here" he apologised and reached for the cat. "Let me help, c'mon fuzzy, let go."

The moment Jaden said the word fuzzy, Pharaoh growled an annoyed response and appeared to be tighten his hold, but once Jaden began to pet the back of the cat's head. The cat began to lose his grip and fell into Jaden's arm with ease. Despite a few scratch marks on his face, Banner seemed fine and happy that his cat is no longer using him as a scratching post.

"Ah, thank you Jaden" Banner spoke as he held out his arms to reacquire his cat. "May I ask though on what you meant by giving up?"

"Oh that, I had Syrus and Chumley here join me in a little race, but I lost track of them halfway, so I figured that they gave up and here they are" Jaden announced, much to the confusion of said persons but Chumley quickly figured what he was trying to do.

"Er, yeah…totally but I kind of got winded so I quit" Chumley said right away before Banner could question it. "Syrus too."

Banner, still not opening his eyes, cocked an eyebrow at the three students but the story to them had convinced the dorm head.

"Very well, as long as nothing else took place that violated the academy rules, but I must insist that if you continue these runs Jaden then please do so before eleven at night."

"Understood, won't happen again" Jaden replied and the professor, satisfied with the confirmation, made his way to the door.

"Also, a reminder that this week is for you to get settled in with classes so don't sleep in. That's for the weekend, so I expect to see you three with the rest up and ready for the start of the day at seven o'clock. Sleep well my students" Banner said, giving them one last piece of advice for the evening, and left the room with Pharaoh giving the final word by a big meow. With their dorm head gone, the three relaxed in relief, more so with Chumley and Syrus.

"Man, what kept you and where's your jacket?" Syrus asked as he noticed Jaden's lack of said attire.

"I gave it to Alexis, she seemed cold with only that top of hers" Jaden replied, earning a whistle from Chumley.

"Wow, trying to score with the number two of the elite ten huh?" Chumley questioned and made Jaden red in the face.

"No, I was being polite!"

Syrus laughed lightly at Jaden's situation while Chumley gave a large grin that would make the Cheshire Cat envious.

"I'm kidding kid, relax" Chumley stated, still grinning as he did. "How do you two know Alexis Rhodes anyway?"

"Story for another time" Jaden replied and gave a loud yawn. "I think I had too much excitement for one day."

"No kidding" Chumley remarked and made his way to the bunk, climbing up the side and got into the top bunk without any hassle, surprising the other two still on how he can do that without breaking the bunk with his weight. No doubt the bunk was strengthened to support the big guy otherwise it would have collapsed, seeing that the bunk looks as well made as the rest of the dorm. "Night guys."

Syrus went next and claimed the middle bunk, leaving the bottom bunk for Jaden to claim as his own which suited him fin as it served to positives, first being that he will be the first out and second, since he is sharing the room with two others. It would mean Yubel wouldn't try sneaking in to try and sleep in the bed. She tried on the boat but thanks to Kuriboh she didn't and now he has roommates, she won't be able to have the chance.

"This must be what you call a silver lining moment" he thought as he removed his shoes, socks, and trousers. He didn't bother to fully change as he just wanted to get in bed and sleep. "Well, Sy, looking forward to tomorrow?" he asked the bunk above him but there was no reply. "Sy?"

Moving a bit to see what was up, Jaden saw that Syrus had already dropped off and was snoring quite a bit which made Chumley shift and look down.

"He isn't going to be loud all night, is he?"

"If you think this is bad, wait until you try to wake him up in the morning" Jaden replied and moved back into his own bunk.

As Chumley shuffled back under his duvet and Syrus snoring like a log, Jaden got comfortable and gave a final yawn. Tiredness had won over the excitement as he felt his eyelids weigh heavy and buried his head into the pillow. However, he felt something come on top of him and it wasn't the duvet, but he knew who it was.

"Yubel" he whispered quietly as much as he can. "What are you doing?"

"I am just snuggling in" he heard her whisper into his ear. Opening an eye, he saw that she is indeed on top of him, fully visible and wings not seen. But that wasn't all Jaden noticed as he also saw the familiar antics of Yubel's flirtatious teasing and looked away sharply with a hint of red in his cheeks. Yubel noticed and blinked, she looked down and once spotted what was up, she gave a mischievous smile.

"No need to look away, you have seen them before" she teased in whisper.

"Do we need to have Kuriboh here to sort you out again because I would like to avoid that since we are not alone" Jaden sharply whispered back whilst trying to avoid getting Chumley's attention. Syrus apparently may be a heavy sleeper, but he wasn't sure about Chumley.

"Don't worry, he won't be a bother" the duel spirit replied and within a second, Jaden found that she had gotten underneath the covers. Surprisingly, the bunk being a single bed was wide enough to accommodate both her and Jaden which made him curious as who in their right idea thought these were single beds but something else came to mind.

"What do you mean Kuriboh won't be a bother?"

Within the Deck

If one were to say that Kuriboh is cute and fluffy then they would be right, if it weren't for the fact that presently, Kuriboh was wrapped up in a spirit chain and was glaring madly towards an empty space if it were Yubel. He wasn't alone as a certain green winged hero inspected the chained Kuriboh and gave a whistle.

"So, you got on the wrong side of the deck owner's spirit guardian. Not sure if that is a good idea" Avian pointed out to the trapped furball but it didn't stop Kuriboh from loudly chirping 'Piss off!' in response. "Oi, language!"

Outside the Deck

Jaden blinked several times as Yubel just told him that she chained Kuriboh up and wouldn't let him go until morning. He knew from this morning that when they clashed, they beat each other up as Kuriboh prevented Yubel from starting a very intimate scenario the previous night but it seemed that Yubel made sure it won't happen again and now he is trapped in his own bunk as Yubel not only got under the covers but is on top of him. He wouldn't say it was not sexy in any way but the two of them are not alone.

"Yubel please don't do anything crazy. We are not exactly alone after all" he whispered in warning, but she already began to snake her arms around his head.

"Don't worry my king, I won't make a single noise" she whispered seductively back and Jaden mentally facepalmed as it seemed his warning went out one ear and out the other. "So please let me have tonight, you know as a reward for distracting the night guard and not getting you permanently expelled from the academy."

"Dang she has a point, though it came at Kuriboh's expense…well face" Jaden realised that though she didn't do it alone, she did in fact saved his studentship from being revoked. "Maybe a little okay but not too much and I mean it."

Saying nothing, Yubel began to passionately kiss him and even went for the attempt of a French kiss with some success. Jaden in response brought her closer as he wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed back. Any noise made between them wasn't heard by either Syrus or Chumley which eased Jaden's original worry, yet it didn't stop him from keeping the noise down on his part. Eventually Yubel won the battle and kiss proceeded into a French kiss and their tongues intertwined with each other with Yubel moaning lustfully in response. She began to make some moves either by instinct or tempting to go further as her hands left Jaden's face and slide under his top as she began to remove his shirt, baring his chest to hers and their skin connected whist the kissing remained in focus.

"Yubel?" Jaden tried to speak amid the kiss as Yubel put herself fully in charge. "Not too much…."

She didn't reply as she broke the kiss and proceeded to kiss his neck and move down, but the kisses were replaced with her tongue as she began to lick him. Her fingers teasing his nipples and he was forced to let out a moan but kept his mouth shut.

"Shit I should have said no foreplay as well because I think this is exactly what this is!" he mentally yelled at himself as he felt hot thanks to the deliberate actions of the duel spirit who returned back to tongue kissing him full in the mouth. "At least we are not making too much noise at least."

"That wouldn't be a concern regardless."

He opened his eyes to see her winking at him, she clearly had been overhearing his thoughts but then again, he doubt he could hide his thoughts from her at all.

"We can make as much noise as we want, and they still wouldn't wake."

With that sentence ringing in his head, his entire body reacted as he pushed her off him and got out of the bed. A surprised but amused Yubel watched as Jaden began to check both Syrus and Chumley, eyes wide and panicking as he did so.

"They are still and…." He realised as he shoved each of them and leaned closer. "…they are not breathing!"

He froze and was coming to a dark realisation as he stared at what he was beginning to think were corpses. He turned to face Yubel but found that she was no longer in the bed and didn't need to search far as he felt her hands on his shoulders and felt her body press against his back.

"Now we are alone" she spoke, and dread was felt throughout his body and without a second's thought, she burst out laughing. "Oh man this is too cruel! Relax Jaden they are not dead. Time is how you say, frozen."

"Huh?" was the only thing he could say as the dread feeling lingered but gradually began to leave him and he got out of Yubel's hold again and checked the two dormmates. He looked closely at their features, and they all display signs of sleep, but they were so still that he could still believe that they were dead. "How are you doing this?"

"Well, you know the Shadow Realm?" Yubel replied, stopping to allow Jaden to answer.

"Yeah, you told me about it…wait a minute! You didn't transport us there, did you?" he replied and demanded to know as the possible explanation came to him quickly.

"Ha, like I ever would do something as dangerous as that" Yubel replied prideful while waving him off like he just said something stupid. "But as a spirit I can pull a piece of it and use it to envelope us in a form of cocoon or envelope within reality allowing us to do whatever we want or something without repercussions."

Jaden listened intently but couldn't help feeling that there was more to it.

"What do you mean without repercussions. There has to be a catch?"

"Well…. yes, there is a catch. I can only maintain it for roughly three hours tops, hour-an-a-half minimum."

"How come over an hour is the minimum?"

Yubel then sat down on the desk, leaning back slightly and opened her legs in which resulted in Jaden's face turning red, more so than the dorm issue jackets. Just like back on the cruise ship the previous night, Yubel is baring all and showing it in full.

"Well, after what we do tonight" she teased. "I will not have any strength left to maintain it."

There was no explanation of what that meant, and Jaden knew it, so, he walked over and placed a hand on each of Yubel's knees and closed her legs.

"Okay we need to establish what not too much means here."

However, his holding was flimsy as she reopened her legs and wrapped them around his waist then in one swift motion. She brought him closer which almost made him fall on top of her though she wouldn't have minded that at all.

"There is no such thing as too much Jaden" Yubel said confidently and for a moment it sounded a little serious. "There is do or don't so tell me, don't you want this or do you?"

She asked him this while leaning back further and used a free hand to present herself to him which in his mind is a dangerous level of turn on, considering who he is dealing with. His mind went blank as rational thought got stuck and seeing Yubel's eye's glance down and grin at him. It is obvious that where the blood to his brain had gone.

"Damn it!"

"Looks like it's a 'do' to me" Yubel announced and leaned in for a kiss, wrapping her arms around him once more but before the kiss could connect, Jaden pulled back quickly and startling her in the process.

"Wait…wait, wait, wait, I didn't say do!" he pointed at sharply and Yubel tilted her head.

"So…. it's a don't" she bluntly replied. "You're saying you don't want me? "

"Well, no I didn't say that either. I mean I wouldn't say no because it sounds nice you know, and it's not like I don't care because I do but I am just saying are there are consequences to this."

Yubel blinked and listened as Jaden tried to explain himself but when he mentioned 'consequences', the stern visage she bore broke, and her lips curled in the way one would try to supress a laugh, but it came out regardless. Though there were in some sort of bubble, Jaden still had the instinctive notion to check behind him to see of the others where still in their bunks as Yubel's current actions he though would break the concentration. The two were still sleeping much to his relief but he wondered how long for. His attention returned to Yubel who appeared to be recovering from a stich and emanated a laugh on her face. He patiently waited a couple of seconds as she took a deep breath and faced him with a grin.

"Consequences? It sounds like you think I am going to get pregnant once you fucked me?"

"Well, that's what happens after sex, especially if its unprotected…wait are you saying you cannot get pregnant?"

She was about to answer but paused and to Jaden's curiosity, she went into deep thought, like it was something she never really considered until he mentioned it.

"I…am not really sure, I don't think so as I am a duel spirit and therefor not a mortal being but then again, it has happened in the ancient past when you consider the whole demi-god angle" she theorised.

"So…your saying people like Hercules actually existed?" Jaden piped in.

"There is always a measure of truth to myths Jaden, as far as to my understanding" she replied and her eyes rested back on Jaden, her grin returned and once again he was wary as she pulled him close for what felt like the third time in his head. "Makes you curious though, would you like to find out together?"

Jaden gulped loudly but realised that there was barely any escape from this situation but couldn't feel right about it if she could get pregnant, the uncertainty was nauseating and gave him a cold sweat but Yubel wasn't having that and took it seriously.

"Hey, Jaden, I am pretty sure nothing will happen and like I said I am a duel spirit and your mortal. It wouldn't work anyway."

She seemed very certain of that despite just earlier she wasn't sure herself, or that it could be one of her teases. It did however bring him a surprise relief that if they did cross the line, no repercussion would occur as a result. But his reluctance remained as he didn't know how to press forward, it wasn't like back on the ship where he had a room to himself and also Yubel's seductive methods helped. He was now sharing a dorm room with two other people and yeah, they were not in a position to notice or find out. But the thought of intimacy in a room with them there, one he met yesterday and another he just met today, felt more than awkward, it felt weird.

"Seriously, stop worrying about those two. They cannot see and they cannot hear so just pretend they are not there at all" Yubel encouraged him and cupped his cheek in her hand. Jaden could only stare into her eyes as there was more than lust in them now. "Let us proceed, let us continue."

"You really want to get it on, don't you?" Jaden spoke as she leaned in to start a kiss.

Yubel stopped what she was about to do and leaned back, her actions confused him as out of the two, she was the one wanting to move forward with it further.

"Its more than just getting it on Jaden, its more than just fucking though it is an enticing benefit. Its being close to you, being a part of you" she said softly as she rested her hands on his chest. "It is being with you."

Jaden stood still, looking at her as she remained transfixed on his chest and yet her eyes were looking at something, something deeper.

"Just like…with my past self?"

Her eyes met his and for a split second, Jaden could have sworn he saw a trace of sadness in them.

"No, you…he. He and I were close but…a tragic thing happened, and I lost him."

"What happened, you never fully told me."

Yubel then shook her head and gave a weak smile.

"Its for another time, I swear but please, can we just focus on now."

She then moved off the table and pressed herself against him, her hands traced down his body till they met his hands in which she held on to. Her breasts pressed against his chest, and he could hear her breathing and to his surprise, she was anxious. The moonlight shone through the gaps in the curtains that kept the two illuminated and seeing her standing right in front of him, Jaden could now notice that despite the appearance she made with either her wings out or levitating in the air, he is taller than her.

"What about that crazy plan of yours, it sounds like you want us to be close but then why the whole harem angle."

A giggle escaped her lips as smile formed.

"Oh, that is still happening, and I am used to that sort of thing, we just need to get you used to it. There is no doubt in my mind that it will happen but when it will start is who knows when" she replied with a shrug.

"Did my past self then had…well…many lovers I take it, like how many?" Jaden asked and let go of her hands to hold her close to which she noticed.

"I…can't remember, I haven't recalled all the details, but I think it was around seven or eight. I will tell you more don't worry, even I am curious sometimes."

"How did…" Jaden was about to ask but Yubel stopped him by pressing her finger to his lips and shushing him gently. "Hey, it's the dorm heads cat" he revealed.

"It's what?!"

Yubel looked over Jaden's shoulder and sure enough, in front of the two is Banner's cat, Pharaoh. The fat cat was staring back, particularly on Yubel as it gave another growl. The fact that the cat can see them is what truly unnerves Yubel as she made several glances between the cat and the bunk.

"That's not possible, the effects of the shadow realm are still active so how did this furball get in here, let alone see us" she spoke in disbelief as she had no idea how it was possible.

Jaden however, looked up to the beams and his eyes followed it down and sees something in the wall above, leaning to the side to get a better look he sees what he began to suspect.

"There is a hole up there" he pointed out to her who glanced up to see where he was pointing at. "Big enough for a cat to go through."

"Are you serious!" Yubel retorted and sees the hole. "How is this dorm still standing."

Another growl brought their attention back to the cat who kept its closed eyed gaze on the duel spirit, whom was still trying to figure out how the cat can see them.

"I still don't get how the cat isn't affected. It should make those not involved unable to hear or notice" she inquired as she stared back.

"You must be joking!"

"If you feel something odd, don't worry it will pass" Yubel informed him and sure enough the feeling was gone. "There we go, we are now in normal mode."

Jaden didn't reply as his focus was on both Chumley and Syrus, the two remained the same and he didn't think checking them was a good idea in case he accidently woke them.

"Are you sure everything is normal?"

A snort like snore from Chumley startled Jaden but it did at least confirm his question that everything is normal now and to confirm it further. A less aggressive purr from Pharoah announced that he is now calm and less hostile, but it didn't stop the apparent staring contest between the cat and the spirit.

"I best take my leave" Yubel spoke, maintaining her glare level on the cat and keeping her voice low also. "See you in the morning my royal stud."

With a triumphant grin, Yubel got into Kuriboh's face and stuck her tongue out.

"About quarter to eight, breakfasts in fifteen minutes so best get a quick wash and get dressed."

"Huh, what about showering and stuff?"

"You're lucky if you can do that once every two days, better do the quick wash and once classes are finished. Go to the cliffside based pool area and use the shower rooms there. It's on the other side of the island though so an hour walk via the shore line or the thirty minute route by forest path."

Jaden groaned and stood up, giving a yawn in the process, and glanced to Syrus who was still sleeping like a log. He then looked down to his own bunk and noticed that the cat wasn't there.

"Hey, where is the cat?"

"Cat?" Chumley asked, at first, he was confused but that didn't last long. "Are you talking about…"

A meow from above caught their attention, they looked up and see Pharoah sitting the on the wooden beam, staring at them with his tail dangling over the side.

"Oh, there he is" Jaden said to no one and gave the feline a little wave.

"Wait, so Pharoah was here last night?"

"Yeah, pretty much" Jaden replied and looked back to Syrus, despite the raise in tone of their voices it didn't seem to do much to stir the heavy sleeper. "So how long does breakfast last?"

"Thirty minutes."

With that information, Jaden pondered slowly what to do with Syrus as the boy is a heavy sleeper as he can now see for himself, and it may take more than a nudge. He even went as far to poke Syrus gently in the face which did nothing at all. Chumley noticed and was wondering why Syrus was still sleeping despite the pokes. Jaden then gave up and figured that there was only one option, but he needed help.

"So, a quick wash huh? Will the water be warm?" he asked Chumley who shook his head in response.

"Nope, it will be ice cold at this hour, you need to be up much later if you want the hot water" Chumley replied but it was all Jaden needed to hear.

"Right, help me get him to the showers. I know what to do to wake him."

A Few Minutes Later

Professor Banner stretched as he exited his private accommodation, he was fully awake and well rested though the same cannot be true for his students as he witnessed a few leave the shower rooms. Some appeared to have woken very early to get the hot water while some didn't and had a brief wash with the cold water but remained tired.

"Rise and shine students, I expect everyone in the main hall soon for our start of the day meal. We have an easy first week students as you settle in and learn your classes so don't feel to glum about it" he said to them in his attempt to boost their spirits but received some groans and yawns instead. "That went better in my head."

As he turned to the main hall door, he noticed Chumley along with the new student Jaden carry the other new student who the professor was surprised to see was still asleep.

"Mr Huffington, Mr Truesdale, where may I ask are you taking young Syrus?"

"Washroom professor, wakeup call" Jaden replied, and they moved past him and kept on going towards the shower room. Some of the other students noticed while the rest ignored them, Banner however figured what they were going to do and smirked.

"Well, that is one way to get a wakeup call" he chuckled.

Leaving them to their devices, he continued his way to the halls door when he saw Pharoah approach him from the stairs.

"Aw, I wondered where you went off to" he said to the cat who meowed and jumped into his arms. "Hope you weren't causing mischief to anyone?"

Pharoah purred in his masters' arms as Banner stroked his head, then out of the blue, a loud and piercing cry screamed out from the shower rooms and an angry shout followed.

"What the actually fuck!" was heard and it made those outside look away both awkwardly and humorously as they knew that if they wanted to go in, they will have to wait a bit.

Banner could only look towards the shower room in surprise before shaking his head. "Yep, that is truly one way to get a wakeup call."

He opened the main doors and proceeded to enter the hall and towards the kitchen area but paused when he noticed that there was someone else in the hall. Sitting at one of the tables by the kitchen entrance sat what appeared to be a large person, he wore no outfit to identify dorm and for a moment Banner though it was someone who was lost but couldn't think for the life of him of who could get lost on an island. As he got closer, the stranger turned around and revealed himself to Banner who could only blink in surprise.

"Oh, it's you?"

Several More Minutes, well Ten Minutes and very angry shouting later.

"That was absolutely and completely uncalled for!" Syrus ranted as he, Chumley, and Jaden exited their dorm room. "Why couldn't you wake me up like normal? Why did you literally get ice cold water in my ruddy face!"

Chumley was red in the face as he found it all hilarious from witnessing Syrus's wake up at the hands of Jaden who simply filled half a bucket of cold water and emptied it on the kids sleeping head. The kid then woke up with a yell and literally shouted at Jaden the entire time as the culprit was still holding the bucket. Even after they got back to the room, changed into their dorm uniforms, and prepared to head down to the mess hall. Syrus was still peeved, even more so towards himself as he realised that he swore for the first time he arrived at the island.

"Relax Syrus, it was just water. And we needed to wake you up otherwise we will miss breakfast as poking you in the face didn't seem to work" Jaden defended himself but seemed to have made it worse.

"You poked my face?!"

Jaden could only look guilty and looked away as he tried to come up with something else while Chumley sniggered at the situation.

"Okay that's enough. Syrus, you are clearly hangry so let's get some of Professor Banner's cooking into your stomach" Chumley interrupted as they got to the hall's main door.

"Fine!" Syrus grumbled and entered the main hall before them. "I feel famished anyway so let's just dig in."

Jaden silently thanked Chumley as they followed Syrus in, Chumley simply responded with a thumbs up and the three of them moved to get a seat, or so they thought. They noticed that some of the dorm's students arrived before them, but they weren't taking seats, instead they were all looking towards the kitchen area. Some were standing on the benches to look over those in front, those who entered behind the three also noticed and wondered what the cause for was for the attention. Chumley stepped forward and tapped one of them on the shoulder.

"Hey, what's up? Is the kitchen not open yet?"

"No…there is someone with him, he is quite big and somehow familiar, but we can't tell as the lights a bit dim. Hey, can someone turn some more lights on?"

Jaden who listened in became curious on who the Banner is taking to and so he climbed up onto one of the tables to get a better look. Both Syrus and Chumley joined him though Chumley seemed to be wary of going on the table. Just as the student said, there was someone with Banner, he was sitting with his back to them, and Banner was reading what looked like a letter. Then, Banner put down the letter and appeared to be concerned.

"This could cause an issue, what was the Chancellor and Vellian thinking?" Banner muttered to himself but seeing that there is no avoiding it, he had no choice to acknowledge it. He just hoped the rest of the dorm will take it well. Looking up he sees the curious growing crowd and sighed. "Here goes" he thought before addressing his students. "Morning my students, before we start the day, I have some news. We have a new member to our dorm."

The news came as a surprise to them, and it intrigued Jaden greatly as the thought of another dorm member to train with.

"Really? A new arrival from the mainland, did he miss the boat or something?" one of the students asked.

"Er…not exactly" Banner began to say, and the 'new arrival' gave out a deep and irritated groan that alarmed the room. "Actually, he is someone you already know so he being a new arrival is inaccurate."

Once that was said, the dorms newest member stood up and they all can see his full height and to some, including Chumley began to have the uncomfortable feeling that they know who it is but don't want to believe it.

"Allow me to introduce our dorms newest…member" Banner nervously announced, and the latest member turned around. Even in the dim light of the main hall, the face of the 'newest member' can be seen by all, and it was the face of the last person they 'never' expected to see in their dorm.

"Peterson!" they cried out in absolute shock and Chumley just gawked in horror as one of the absolute worst obelisks on the island is in their dorm. Jaden however was surprised and noticed a furious glare was directed right at him from Peterson. It clicked a realisation in his mind and from that he leaned to Chumley.

"Hey Chumley."

"Yeah…" Chumley muttered.

"I think I might be the reason he is here."

Damn, this chapter was a fun one to write and also…painstakingly difficult as I had to go back and add new stuff in, re-write a few things but damn…finally we are going to start the academic year from the next chapter on…. bout time jesus!

Anyway, a brief note before we get to the latest reviews, I will be following the first season story yes and I will keep the main plot scenarios in, but I won't be including ALL the side plots…overwise it will be taking forever. So, I will be making a list on what scenario will be included and I will work from there. Also, you may have noticed that Yubel finally got her night, to be honest I was aiming for a plot that she wouldn't get it until the end of the season but by doing so she will be that tsundare style character as a result and that I felt will just get boring…like very quickly so she got ploughed in this chapter. Let me know what you think as I have never got into that kind of detail in a sex scene before. Besides that, I hope this chapter is enjoyable as the last, if not then that is concerning.

Qrow454: Wow…okay, I appreciate the honest thought…no idea on how to answer that. It appears more philosophical than a question, but I am going to assume you like the story so far since you haven't written anything negative about it…yet.

JxA fan 2000: From the moment I read the 'JxA' I instantly knew you are a Jaden and Alexis shipper. Then again, most GX fans are, anyway to your question. Well to answer the first one, not going to tell…spoilers. And as for you second question, well it appears to be a go after all but who is the next girl…that's the question now isn't it?

mothefcking oak: Glad you enjoyed the last chapter and I hope this chapter you will enjoy too. I am pleased to hear (well read) your thoughts on how Jade is portrayed, and you will now finally read her duel against Jaden. Unfortunately, she doesn't wear the dress, but I did consider it at one time but due to her 'pride about herself character', going in a dress seems like something she wouldn't do. Sorry. Don't worry though, I believe Jaden will have an encounter with 'dress' Jade in the future and as for the harem, no way I won't include her.

On Alexis and Jasmine towards Jaden, on the Jasmine side…I say yeah, they are on friendly terms, but it has been considered. As for Alexis, well if you have read the chapter and are reading this part by now…you tell me if Alexis has taken an interest in Jaden. Heh, heh, heh.

Oh, and glad to read that Sadie's character and personality is great in your review, and you are the first to comment on her being Jade's cousin. It was something I really enjoyed putting together. As for her involvement in the harem and what else you written, we shall see!

And yeah, Bastian is a great character, didn't receive much screentime so I will try and include him as much as possible within reason.

As for your questions about the Harem, I aint going to spoil it but I have to say…seriously, ZARA?! You want to see perhaps the most despicable character so far in this fanific included in Jaden's love life. I have plans for her, so you need to keep calm, lol. DMG and Fontaine, not sure yet and this is mostly anime series based so I won't be including manga-based characters.

I hope this chapter is what you were hoping to read next and as for the virus, you stay safe too.

KingJGamer: Right, you have sent me four individual reviews so I will go one at a time. First thing, yes, I heard of Danny Phantom, its just that I see 'Jazz' as more of a nickname than an actual name to be honest.

Second, yes Zara is the opposite to Zane character. Pretty much is what I am aiming for, and you have pretty much detailed it out in your second review about the differences between the two. Never saw her as a Yami Marik or Bakura equivalent as she is her own character and no, she isn't yandere for Rhodes even if it appears that way. She just loves power, especially power over people as no doubt you read in this chapter, she has some sway over in the academy power base on how punishments are given…bad luck Peterson you ass!

And don't worry the duels are a big focus, the romances are just part of the story and will appear when appropriate and there will be plenty of character moments. About Yubel…well she got what she wanted in the end but at the same time, made a new enemy so hopefully that's something. She is going to be refining herself in future chapters as though she wants to bang Jaden, she is also a protector so now maybe she can focus on that part of her job.

Oh, and Zara's involvement, I have big plans with her including one chapter in this season that will show how cruel she can be. And we will get to see Mindy's and Jasmines decks in the future also.

Third…No, I don't believe he will have the masked heroes as that is still undecided.

Fourth…definitely yeah Atticus will hate Zara. No doubt about it.

As for your question, Jaden will be learning a lot this season and as for DMG, I have something special in mind. As for Jaden's decks, you will have to wait as I also have something special in mind in that area. Also no, she only has the one Yubel card. The others don't exist as she isn't sent to space.

Guest 2: Glad you enjoyed chapter four, hopefully you will like this one. And I have thought about easter egg appearances, but no Mai won't be a teacher. Not her style and Ishizu…doubt it. We won't learn anything about the supreme king further until a certain hike trip.
