Mama,

Happy Mother's Day. I don't think you only deserve one day, though. I mean, you do everything for me, every day. And in return you get one day? Silly.

Anyway, I wanted to tell you that I appreciate you. I think you already know that, but I really do. You've always been my best friend, and my favorite person. I'm beyond lucky to be able to call you my mom, and I wouldn't trade you for anyone in the whole world. (Cheesy, I know).

Thank you for being the best role model. You've shown me how to be a good person, through and through. You've been through so much, and you're still so positive. I'll always admire you for that.

You're sweet, funny, kind, positive, loving, and best of all; understanding. You always know how to make me feel better, even when I'm crazy upset. Those are just some of the things that make you the best Mom(there's a lot of things. Too many to list).

I hope you know how much I love and appreciate you. And, I hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day. You deserve it more than anyone.

I can't put into words how much I love you.

-Olive.

Callie,

I know you're not my mom. But, I kind of felt bad not giving you anything. I mean, yeah today is to celebrate my mom (and she is super great.) But, I feel like you have had a big influence on my life these past few months.

I just wanted to thank you for being there for me, somewhat as a parental figure.

I appreciate how much you care about me, and how you constantly show it.

It really means a lot. So, thank you.

Love, Liv.

I tried not to get emotional. I really did. But, how could I not?

If you can't tell, it's Mother's Day.

I woke up extra early to write both Mom and Callie a card.

Yes, I wrote Callie a card. She wasn't my mom. But, it was starting to feel like she was a parent figure. I wanted her to know that I appreciated her, too.

I didn't realize I signed it with 'love' until I was rereading it.

I guess I did love Callie, though. I had never said that to anyone.

No turning back now.

I folded the cards- homemade cards.

Then, I grabbed Mom's gift from its hiding place, and off I went.

I knocked on their bedroom door- rather be safe than sorry(and scarred for life.)

"Liv? You can come in." I heard Mom say.

I opened the door, Mom and Callie were both sat in their bed, watching TV.

"Happy Mother's Day!" I went over to Mom, hugging her.

She hugged back. "Thank you baby." She said softly, squeezing me tightly.

I smiled when we pulled away. "I got you a gift. And... I made you a card." I placed them both in Mom's lap, and was just left with the folded piece of paper that was Callie's card. I looked at Callie, she was smiling when our eyes met. "I made you a card, too." I reached over Mom to pass Callie the card.

"Aww, Olive." Mom said as she picked up her card.

Callie looked surprised, but her smile just grew. "Thank you, Liv. That's so sweet."

I smiled a little. Mom read her card, smiling big the whole time.

She looked up, "Thank you, honey. I love you too. You're the cutest." Mom kissed my head.

I smiled, "Open the gift Mama!!"

She laughed, opening up the box and gasping.

Dramatic. But sweet.

"Oh! It's beautiful!" She took the bracelet out of the box. "It has amethyst! Your birth stone," Mom looked up at me.

I nodded.

"This is stunning, Olive. I love it so much. You're so thoughtful." She put it on her wrist, looking at it. "Come here!" She pulled me toward her for another hug.

I giggled as I hugged back. I knew she would like it. And, best of all, I bought it for her. It felt so good.

For a moment I almost forgot that Callie was reading her card. When I looked over at her, she had tears in her eyes.

Oh. Had I said something wrong? I immediately got worried. Maybe I came on too strong. Imagine if I scared my mom's girlfriend away. Oh god.

Then, she looked up at me. "Liv..." She rubbed her eyes.

"I-" I didn't know what to say. I was worried she was upset.

She got up, came over to me, and hugged me tightly. "That is the sweetest note anyone has ever given me." She said quietly.

I felt myself relax. Good. She wasn't upset. I hugged her back.

"Thank you so much." She pulled away, sighing and rubbing her eyes. "You've got me crying," She laughed.

I giggled.

She picked up the card again, holding it close to her. "I'm gonna keep this forever. Thank you." Tears continued to run down her cheeks.

"Of course." I said quietly, smiling softly.

Mom was watching us, a big smile on her face. My eyes met hers, and she radiated happiness.

Callie placed the card on her nightstand. "Oh, I'm a mess." She said, laughing again.

"It's ok. Olive and her notes makes me cry, too." Mom laughed, too. She reached out and hugged me close to her again. "You're so sweet." She said softly.

I just smiled. I was glad Callie liked the note. And, Mom liked her gift.

Mom twisted my hair around her fingers. Her little habit.

I watched as Callie rubbed her eyes, sitting back down in the bed. Our eyes met, and she smiled so big that her cheeks looked like they could explode.

So far, today was good.

Later, we were going to Callie's parents house. I hoped that went well, too.

Not only did I want Mom to have the perfect day, but I was finding myself hoping that Callie had a good day, too.
