Today was the day.

Callie is proposing to Mom!

I think Callie and I were both nervously excited all day, and Mom totally took notice. How could she not?

My part was simple, though.

Ask to go get ice cream.

My part was also fast approaching.

I had never been so nervous to ask to get ice cream in my life.

Upon Callie texting me, though, I came out of my room to find them both on the couch.

"Guys?"

"Olive!" Mom smiled, her legs over Callie's. She lifted her head from Callie's arm.

"Can we go out and get ice cream?" I just cut right to it. I was nervous.

Callie sat up more, very quickly cutting in. We totally seemed a little scripted. Whatever. "Ooh! Terry's has good ice cream. I've been craving it all week. That's a good idea!"

Mom looked between the two of us and laughed. "It's 5 o'clock and you two want ice cream?"

"Yeah!" I gave her my best smile.

"That's right!" Callie said.

"Only if you drive." She directed her attention to Callie.

"That's fine by me, let's go!!" Callie patted Mom's legs.

Mom laughed more, getting up. I got my shoes on, seeing Callie wink at me when Mom wasn't looking.

So far so good.

Next step was getting Mom under this Gazebo. Then, the plan would go flawlessly.

Callie managed to find parking in the area most inconvenient to the ice cream shop- making it most convenient to the park.

"Ugh it's so hot and we have to walk so far." Mom half complained, half joked.

"Sorry!" Callie said. Though, she and I knew she wasn't sorry. Mom would understand soon enough.

We started our stroll. Callie held Mom's hand and I trailed next to them, a safe distance away.

The Gazebo came into sight, flowers and all. Aria did a good job- it looked beautiful. Mom didn't notice right away like Callie and I did. She wasn't looking for it, obviously.

"Ari, come here," Callie tugged on Mom's hand.

"What?" Mom scrunched her face as Callie pulled her toward the Gazebo. "Ooh pretty. Wait Cal I don't think we should go up here it's probably for somethi-"

"Shh." Callie cut Mom off when they were standing under the Gazebo.

I stepped to the side, so I was in Mom's view. Callie's back was to me. I spotted Aria, and she waved to me. I waved back, but quickly put my attention back to Mom and Callie. I didn't want to miss this.

Callie pulled the ring box from the pocket of her pants.

Mom's face showed that she immediately knew what was happening. Her eyes got wide, her mouth opened up. Next, her hands found their way to cover her mouth. Pure shock.

"Arizona..." Callie started. "I know we have barely been together for a year... but, this has been the best almost year of my life." Callie laughed. "I love you. So much. And..." She turned to look at me. "I love Olivia, too. I want to spend the rest of my life with you- with both of you..." She opened the box up. "So, I want to know... Arizona Robbins... will you marry me?"

Mom had tears in her eyes. So did I, honestly. That was sweet.

And. Callie loved me.

Mom looked at me, as if asking what she should say. Asking if it was ok.

I gave her a big smile, nodding my head super fast. In what world would it not be okay?

Of course she needs to say yes.

I did help plan. And pick out the ring. Why wouldn't I want her to say yes?

I mean... she didn't know all of that, though.

She looked back at Callie, immediately giving her a huge hug.

Still no answer.

Hello? Mom?

Callie hugged her back, "Arizona?" She asked after a few moments.

"Yes! Yes I would love to marry you!" Mom said finally.

I squealed, jumping up and down.

I watched as they kissed, not super grossed out. This was pretty cute. Mom was smiling insanely big when they pulled away.

Then, Callie slipped the ring onto Mom's finger and they kissed again.

Aria was a lot closer now, and I saw Callie point to her, making Mom laugh.

"How did I not notice?!" Mom said.

Callie shrugged, and they hugged tightly. Aria still took photos as Callie turned and motioned for me to come with them. I did, and they both pulled me into a hug.

"Congratulations." I said quietly to the both of them.

Mom was crying as she hugged me tightly, squishing me against not only her, but against Callie, too.

"Oh my gosh. I'm a mess." Mom said after a few moments, pulling away. She rubbed her eyes to get rid of her tears, and then she finally looked at the ring. "Wow."

Callie smiled brightly, "What do you think?"

"It's beautiful. Thank you, Calliope. I love it. And I love you." They hugged again. I turned around and looked at Aria. She laughed. "Aria!" Mom smiled at her.

"Congrats! Future sister-in-law!" Aria ran up, pushing me right back in between Mom and Callie, into yet another hug. "That was adorable. Wow, look at my little sis go."

Callie laughed. "We're engaged!" She reached for Mom's hand when we all pulled away.

"Ooh yeah!" Mom took Callie's hand, and Callie twirled her around.

"This... is my bride!" Callie said, pulling Mom close to her again.

I giggled.

"And this is my bride!" Mom leaned up and kissed Callie's cheek.

"The cutest!" Aria piped in.

Then, Mom looked between Callie and I. "Was the ice cream thing just a set up?"

Callie nodded, "Kind of."

Mom shook her head in amusement.

"I mean, we can still get ice cream, if that's what you're asking."

"I'm all for that," Mom's smile was big and bright. She was so happy that I just wanted to cry tears of joy.

Out of every single person in this world, Mom deserved this more than anyone.

Pure happiness.
