A/N: Short one this time! I could have written something more profound, but my brain just wanted to write some cutesy fluff.

Day 19 | Ray/Salima | Rated: T

Gold

Salima watched the sun sink to that magical place on the horizon and knew she should be grabbing her camera. The perfect golden hour didn't come every evening. She wanted to see if Ray's eyes popped against the sky as much as they did against the dainty yellow flowers dotting the field they were picnicking in.

But more than she wanted that, she wanted to lay ensconced in his arms and let him steal lazy kisses.

Like he could read her mind, Ray rolled onto one elbow. He hovered close enough to block most of the sky from her view, but she could see enough to get confirmation that his eyes were just as bright.

"Ray," she whispered, skimming a hand up over his arm to clutch at his shoulder. There was so much strength in each of his taut muscles and it made her mouth go dry. His eyes were pools of gold and she wanted to dive in and come up gilded.

Her single word might as well have been a question for how quickly he answered it with a kiss. She could always count on him to be on her wavelength.

She cooed contentedly against his mouth and dug her fingers into his shoulder. Her other hand came to rest on his cheek.

He pulled back for a second to shoot her an amused smile at her reaction, before claiming her lips again in a series of kisses. Each one lasted just long enough to give her a small, teasing taste of him. She could feel his hand sliding up under her sweater. He always felt so safe and warm and so much like home.

"Don't you want pictures?" he whispered against the shell of her ear, sending a shiver down her spine. His thumb was stroking her waist; he would be feeling how he made her skin erupt into goosebumps.

Salima answered him by hooking an arm around his neck and shimmying impossibly closer.

"Sometimes it's better to live in the moment than to photograph it."

Living in the moment was something Salima had struggled with. When she was young, she'd constantly sought a better future. After the cyber bitbeast incident, she dwelt in the mistakes of her past. It was only now that she was older, in a new city every week with Ray by her side, that she found the present most enticing.

Ray's chuckle reverberated through both of their bodies.

"Alright," he said, pressing a kiss to the side of her head and wrapping his arm fully around her waist. "How do you propose we live in this moment?"

She didn't need to think twice before saying, "Kiss me again."

So he did.

And hours later, when the sky mirrored the inky color of her eyes this time, and Ray was a solid press of warm, naked skin against her back, she would fall asleep to the rhythm of his steady breathing, fully content.

A/N: Dedicated to the handful of Ray/Salima fans out there lol I thought it was about time I filled a prompt with these two.
