Chapter 25: Fangs Bared
The black and yellow aura begins to surround Leona as he begins to expose his magic. The black ink soon begins to seep out of his pen and the aura continues to grow. The magic he spread seems across the stadium along with strange dust.
Ruggie feels pain in his body, "Aaagh…"
Soon, the other students' bodies are feeling the same pain, "Gwaaah!"
Soon, the strange magic spread towards Briar, Riddle, and the others.
"What?! My nose is dryin' out... M-my eyes hurt!" Grim says, and uses his paws to cover his eyes.
Tanzanite coughs as he says, "Something's wrong. This magic…"
"My mouth is starting to feel dry too," Jasper says, and coughs.
Jack soon notices that the field is starting to be turned into sand, "Everything the housewarden touched is turning to sand?!"
Just then, Leona says, "That'd be my signature spell. 'The King's Roar.' Ironic, isn't it? Nothin' the savanna hates more than a drought. Yet its prince's magic desiccates everything—reduces it to sand."
Hearing this really shocked everyone. Many of the students are feeling the pain from the spell.
Ruggie is starting to feel pain in his body even more, "B-boss... It huuurts...!"
Soon, Ruggie's body begins to show cracks.
Decue becomes shocked, "Ruggie's arm! The skin is cracking!
"Your spell can legit dry out a HUMAN BEING?!" Ace says, shocked.
"It's going to be enough to turn someone to dust," Sereia says, and begins coughing.
Briar however is to focus on the pain that is happening in her head. And because of her medallion, Briar is being protected from Leona's spell.
Riddle shouts, "Leona, I cannot allow this to continue! Off With Your Head!" and casts his spell.
However, the spell ends up bouncing off of Leona.
The group is shocked.
Grim panics, "Myah?! Riddle's collar bounced right off!"
"Maybe you're some kinda prodigy, kid, but don't go thinkin' you're smarter than your elders. I aced my Protective Magic classes in my sleep," Leona says.
"Tch!" Riddle says, stunned.
Leona laughs in remark, "Hah! How do you like that, Ruggie? Does it hurt? Is your mouth too dry to keep licking my boots? That was your finest talent, too."
Soon, the cracks begin to surround his body further, along with the other students.
Ruggie says in pain, "Ngh... G-gaah…"
All the students continue to be affected by Leona's magic. And soon enough, Riddle and the others are as well. All except Briar, and Jack doesn't seem to be that effective as well.
Jack turns to Briar, "If we don't stop him, Ruggie's gonna...!"
"You're right, we have to stop him before things get out of hand, but how," Briar says, concerned.
Then Briar continues to feel the strong pain in her head.
Confused, Jack asks, "What's the matter?"
"It… it's a long story, but I… I feel strong negative energy coming from Leona…" Briar says.
"Negative energy?" Jack says, confused.
"There's no time to explain, we have to stop Leona, now," Briar says.
She then struggles to fight and wonders, "But how…?"
